    I have an application with the FrontEnd separated into one Project file and the Codebehind/classes separated into a completely different class library. What I need is a way to, from the UserControl Type, obtain it's VirtualPath. Typically, we would have this in code Board uc = (Board)Page.LoadControl(@"~\Board.ascx"); But I want is something like this Board uc = (Board)Page.LoadControl(Board.VirtualPath); OR Board uc = Page.LoadControl(Board); Anyone have an idea how I can accomplish this?     I am using VS2010, CrystalReport13 & MVC3. My problem is unable to add an external assembly in Crystal Report using "Database Expert" Option. I have a class named WeeklyReportModel in an external assembly. In my web project, data retrieving from DB as IEnumerable collection of WeeklyReportModel. I tried ProjectData - .NetObjects in Crystal Report for adding the WeeklyReportModel. But this external assembly is not showing under ".NetObjects". Then I tried other option as Create New Connection - ADO.Net – Make New Connection and pointed this External Assembly. It has been added under Ado.Net node, but while expanding displays as "...no items found..." Totally frustrated. Please help.   • Front-end phtml template form doesn't connect to controller.php file

    The web system which I'm working on right now, has a add.phtml (in views folder) form, which contain normal form elements and pageController.php (in Controller folder) file which has function to be connected when user hit "add page" button on the form. The codes goes like this. on add.phtml file, input type = "submit" value ="Add Page" on pageController.php file, function insertAction(){ } For some reason these two doesn't connect now. Is anybody have any idea why this doesn't work or what should I check on this kind of a problem. The web system on zend framewok. I really appreciate if someone can help me.

    I'm new to web development. In my view, I want to conditionally show a button if Model.TemplateLocation (which is a string) is not null or empty.     Hi I am using Linq2Sql and want to bind an objects field (which is enum) to either a bit or a int type in the database. For example I want have a gender field in my model. I have already edited the DBML and changed the Type to point to my enum. I want to create Radio buttons (which I think I have figured out) for gender and dropdown lists for other areas using the same idea. My enum looks like this public enum Gender { Male, Female } Mapping between DbType 'int' and Type 'Project.Models.Gender' in Column 'Gender' of Type 'Candidate' is not supported. Any ideas on how to do this mapping. Am I missing something on the enums.

  • JQuery modal box form validation

    Hi, I was using a view to create an object for my specific project, but now I have to adapt this to another requirements, such as the creation of this object must be integrated in the creation of another one. The thing is, that this object must be created before starting to create the other one, and the way of doing it will be poping up a modal dialog box with JQuery with the form to create it. I've got to adapt the creation and it works fine, except for the validation messages. It is made in the controller like : if (not.NotName.Trim().Length == 0) { ModelState.AddModelError("NotName", "Name is required"); } if (_notification.checkIfExists(not.NotName, not.NotRecID)) { ModelState.AddModelError("NotName", "Notification already exists"); } And before with a normal view it worked fine, but now I'm not able to get the validation messages as I did. How can you get this validation messages thrown by the controller in the Modal Box? Because now when I made a mistake on purpose in the form in order to get the error it doesn't appear. I've seen the error is displayed in the site, because I've seen it on firebug, but it doesn't appear in my model box. How can I retrieve this errors? Do you know any tutorial that could help me with this? Thank you

When I build my Model, I have a Data.dbml file and then I'm putting my Repositories in the same folder with it.... IE: Data.dbml IUserRepository.cs UserRepository.cs My question is simple. Is it better to build the folder structure like that above, or is it ok to simply put my Interface in with the UserRepository.cs?   • Passing Object From Controller to JavaScript JQuery

    This is driving me crazy. All I'm trying to do is to pass in a Id to a ActionMethod which is working and have an Object be returned to the javascript. Then in javascript, I want to be able to say something like..Objec.Property, ie/ Student.Name, or Student.GPA. Any help is appreciated. I tried json but couldn't get that to work either.   • ASP NET forms Authorization: how to reduce duration?

    I've got a web page which is implementing cookie based ASPNET Forms Authentication. Once the user has logged in the page, he can edit some information using a form which is created using a partialview and returned to him as a dialog for editing. The action linked to the partial view is decorated as follows: [HttpGet] [OutputCache(Duration = 0, VaryByParam = "None")] [Authorize(Roles = "test")] public ActionResult changeTripInfo(int tripID, bool ovride=false) { ... } The problem i am experiencing is the latency between the request and the time when the dialog is shown to the user: time ranges between 800 and 1100 ms which is not justified by the complexity of the form. Investigating with Glimpse turns out that the time to process the AuthorizeAttribute (see snip) sums up to at least 650 ms which is troubling me. Looking at the Sql server log, the call which checks the user roles takes, as expected, virtually nothing (duration 0). How can I reduce this time? Am I missing some optimization?

UPDATE: When using the following the cast seams to work but when trying to loop with a foreach the data is lost. resultFromDb.ToList() as IEnumerable<BookedResource>; UPDATE 2: Im using entity frameworks generated model, model (edmx) is created from database, edmx include classes that reprecent the database tables. In database i have a history table for old BookedResource and it can happen that the user want to look at these and to get the old data from the database entity framework uses classes with the same name as the tables to receive data from db. So i receive the data from table HistoryBookedResource in HistoryBookedResource class. Because entity framework generate the partial classes with the properties i dont know if i can make them virtual and override. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    action: User/Details View: Details In my 'Details' view, a user can click on an actionlink that goes to the action :User/UserBehavior From which I again return a "Details" View. the url shows http://User/UserBehavior If I return redirectToAction to the Details action, I still get the "UserBehavior" action in the url. how do I redirect and present the new url of the action? isnt that the way its supposed to be? TO CLARIFY: WHEN YOU USE REDIRECTTOACTION, SHOULD THE URL IN THE BROWSER SHOW THE ORIGINAL ACTION OR THE ACTION YOU REDIRECTED TO?

    Hi, I couldn't find anything through Google, I suppose the search terms are too much to handle. The VS built-in help only explains <%, which is just embedded code. There is no mention of <%: EDIT: My book says, that the only difference is that <%: returns a MvcHtmlString. Why do we need an extra symbol for <%: just to return something? Thanks for any help! It would really help me to understand asp.net.

Is it possible to build a polished, somewhat feature rich browser UI while being sheltered from the archaic environment of HTML and JavaScript?
