    I have read many posts for installing Oracle Database 10g XE Server in Ubuntu, such as this But I get an error: E: Unable to locate package oracle-xe when execute the command sudo apt-get install oracle-xe At the previous step (sudo apt-get update), it also notices that E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead. Did any one meet and solve this problem? I have searched for this problem but got no proper answer.

    My problem: As you can guess my Ubuntu 12.10 stucks in a login loop when trying to enter my desktop. Means the screen gets black and soon after that the login screen comes back.     I’m an using Admin account on Windows 7 and try to attach umbraco database to my local SQL 2008 R2 instance. I’m getting the following error: Unable to open the physical file "D:\Tech\umbraco\build\App_Data\umbraco.mdf". Operating system error 5: "5(Access is denied.)".   • Python 3.1 books still directly applicable to learning Python 2.7?

    I need to learn Python (v2.7) for my job, and looking for the best intro book for professional programmers. I found (via amazon) that "The Quick Python Book" is the best, but it's for Python 3.1 I know there's a lot of similarities in 2.7 and 3.1, and somewhere read that you can mostly use 3.1 syntax in 2.7 as a good "future practice". Can someone with experience please verify that a book for learning Python3 would still be directly applicable for 2.7? Thank you very much. edit: "The Quick Python Book" is for 3.1

  • Black areas with default (gray) theme

    I use Ubuntu 12.04 with the Blackbox window manager and the default (gray) GTK theme. With some GTK 3 applications, like Gedit, Disk utility and Evince I see black areas which should be gray and these black backgrounds make the black text on top of them impossible to read. It seems to me that very few people use the default theme as this bug (or bugs) has still not been fixed. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
