  In programming, when we say "the 7th Least Significant Bit", do we have a standard of whether it is bit 7 or bit 6 (if we start from bit 0). Because if we say "the 2nd Least Significant Bit", it sounds like it is bit 1 (counting from bit 0 again), so if 2nd means bit 1, then 7th means bit 6, not bit 7.

  I know that different DBMSes support different aggregate functions; for example: MySQL's aggregates Oracle's aggregates I want to get the list of aggregates mandated by the SQL standard. Or, to be more precise, the lists of mandatory aggregates for SQL 1992, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2011 - with 2011 being the most important to me. Edit: Of course if I buy a copy of the standards I could compile these lists myself. My question is whether they're accessible somewhere online.

  I'm working on a music streaming app that needs play controls (skip, pause, play) just like the iPhone iPod app. I built my controls using a UIToolbar and the standard buttons. My UIToolbar controls look OK, but they're smaller than the ones that the iPod uses. Does anyone know if the iPod controls are custom graphics? I set IndexField to NOT_ANALYZED_NO_NORMS and Field.Store.YES When I look at my index in LUKE, the fields are as I expected, a value such as: 'SKU Number', yet when I search for 'SKU' or 'SKU*' nothing comes up.   If you stick to managed code and standard coding (nothing that does unconventional things withe CLR) in .NET, is there any reason to manually invoke the GC or request to run finalizers on unreferenced objects? The reason I ask is thaty I have an app that grows huge in Working Memory set. I'm wondering if calling System.GC.Collect(); and System.GC.RunFinalizers(); would help, and if it would force anything that wouldn't be done by the CLR normally anyways.
