    I'm trying to perform a search, order the results randomly, and only return a number of results, not all matches. Something like limit(2) I've tried using the Solr param 'rows' but that doesn't seem to do anything: @featured_articles = Article.search do with(:is_featured, true) order_by :random adjust_solr_params do |params| params[:rows] = 2 end end @featured_articles.total should be 2, but it returns more than 2 How can I get a randomized fixed number of results?

  • Include a database file with Android application via Eclipse

    How can I instruct Eclipse to copy a file from my Android solution to an emulator, as part of Run/Debug? I have a small database, stored in Assets, that needs to accompany the application. Thus far I have simply copied the file myself using DDMS but would prefer to have it automatically included. The project properties allow me to specify some aspects of the build, e.g. the build order and which libraries should be included, but I don't see anything about simply copying a file.

  • Delphi exe, will it run with just BDE configuration?

    Hi, I've taken over a legacy application and I have the exe created. If I can configure the BDE then in theory it should be possible to run this. Someone indicated that Delphi needs to be installed in order for the app to run. I'm unsure of that - it doesn't quite make sense to me as there is an exe file.     I'm trying to get a query string from a shared function in a code-behind model using VB.NET. You have to use HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString("Query") in order to get it from a shared function, however doing HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString.Count gives back 0, which obviously isn't right in my case as there's many that exist. Is there some sort of issue with using this static call from a shared function?

  • XSL Doctype Issue

    I'm having issues with an XSL template that is outputting to HTML. There is a javascript being rendered on the resulting HTML page that requires a strict doctype in order to work across all browsers. However, I cant get the doctype to show up. Any thoughts on this? Would it be possible to insert it dynamically, using javascript or php? Any help is appreciated.

    Hi, I read somewhere that we should lock the mutex before calling pthread_cond_signal and unlock the mutext after calling it: The pthread_cond_signal() routine is used to signal (or wake up) another thread which is waiting on the condition variable. It should be called after mutex is locked, and must unlock mutex in order for pthread_cond_wait() routine to complete. My question is: isn't it OK to call pthread_cond_signal or pthread_cond_broadcast methods without locking the mutex?

  • My mental block - struggling to learn Objective C

    Hello people, this would be my first question after signing up! Anyway heres my question, I did Java at university and I was always told I am a good programmer. However I never pursued it as a career - I went into support and management instead. Im pretty much bored with my job, I have therefore started to learn Objective C so that I can develop apps for the iphone. I am currently watching several different Videos / Books. My problem is that when I go through the Apple documentation, although I understand most of it, sometimes I stumble. I believe that because you/we have the Apple documentation (i.e. Framework references) , everything should be clear, and therefore you should have no need to refer to a book or video (in order to learn how to use a particular class). But I alway do refer to a book and video and subsequently feel guilty as I believe the framework reference should be enough. (I therefore feel I am not up to being a programmer) I also believe that you shouldn't need example code in order to learn how to use a particular class because Apple provides documentation for each class, but AGAIN I find my self googling example code and I find my answer like that - again I feel guilty for doing this. Am I right in saying that Apple documentation is simply not clear? and that its ok to refer to a video/book or google? or forums for that matter? I have proffesional programmers who tell me that I am worrying too much and that I should get on with it and use all the resources that I have. I just cant seem to get round this mental block that I have in my head. When I start a programming project I am able to use the excellent search skills that I have to find the code I need, copy and paste it (yes I do understand it) BUT then I feel guilty telling myself that why didn't you think up the code yourself???? Therefore your not a real programmer, your just good at googling. Currently I am going through 20+ books so that I can learn most of the frameworks, syntax etc to develop iphone apps. I believe if I do this, then when I think of a project I can make it quickly. Should I read a few books, like 2-3 and then just start a project /app , and if I get stuck just google it and get the code I need? Can anybody please answer my questions?

  • Getting the DLL name from a mingw32-compiled lib/a file

    Hi, I am changing our build system in order to handle cross-compiling and packaging. It is a common thing to ship dependencies' DLLs but CMake's FindXXX modules(./configure checks) don't provide the path to these DLLs but only to .a files. I quickly looked inside the .a libs and they all seem to contain the DLL's name. What would be a proper way of extracting them from the .a file on a Linux build machine?

  • Why is giving a fixed width to a label an accepted behavior?

    There are a lot of questions about formatting forms so that labels align, and almost all the answers which suggest a pure CSS solution (as opposed to using a table) provide a fixed width to the label element. But isn't this mixing content and presentation? In order to choose the right width you basically have to see how big your longest label is and try a pixel width value until "it fits". This means that if you change your labels you also have to change your CSS.

    Yes, so I got the problem that if you type a long sentence with no space e.g eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, it will break itself, but then now I would need to start typing some ugly non-breaking coding.     My Problem is that I want to check if the Arrow up or down key is press then I want to increment or decrement value in the textbox control. I have registered keyup event but I have to release the arrow up key in order to change the value, What I want is if User pressed up arrow key then it will increment the value until user release up arrow key and same for the down arrow key. Any idea?
