  • error LNK2019 for ZLib sample code compiling.

    - by Nano HE
    Hello. I created win32 console application in vs2010 (without select the option of precompiled header). And I inserted the code below. but *.obj link failed. Could you provide me more information about the error. I searched MSDN, but still can't understand it. #include <stdio.h> #include "zlib.h" // Demonstration of zlib utility functions unsigned long file_size(char *filename) { FILE *pFile = fopen(filename, "rb"); fseek (pFile, 0, SEEK_END); unsigned long size = ftell(pFile); fclose (pFile); return size; } int decompress_one_file(char *infilename, char *outfilename) { gzFile infile = gzopen(infilename, "rb"); FILE *outfile = fopen(outfilename, "wb"); if (!infile || !outfile) return -1; char buffer[128]; int num_read = 0; while ((num_read = gzread(infile, buffer, sizeof(buffer))) > 0) { fwrite(buffer, 1, num_read, outfile); } gzclose(infile); fclose(outfile); } int compress_one_file(char *infilename, char *outfilename) { FILE *infile = fopen(infilename, "rb"); gzFile outfile = gzopen(outfilename, "wb"); if (!infile || !outfile) return -1; char inbuffer[128]; int num_read = 0; unsigned long total_read = 0, total_wrote = 0; while ((num_read = fread(inbuffer, 1, sizeof(inbuffer), infile)) > 0) { total_read += num_read; gzwrite(outfile, inbuffer, num_read); } fclose(infile); gzclose(outfile); printf("Read %ld bytes, Wrote %ld bytes, Compression factor %4.2f%%\n", total_read, file_size(outfilename), (1.0-file_size(outfilename)*1.0/total_read)*100.0); } int main(int argc, char **argv) { compress_one_file(argv[1],argv[2]); decompress_one_file(argv[2],argv[3]);} Output: 1>------ Build started: Project: zlibApp, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------ 1> zlibApp.cpp 1>d:\learning\cpp\cppvs2010\zlibapp\zlibapp\zlibapp.cpp(15): warning C4996: 'fopen': This function or variable may be unsafe.   • Right code to retrieve data from sql server database

    - by HasanGursoy
    Hi, I have some problems in database connection and wonder if I have something wrong in my code. Please review. This question is related: Switch between databases, use two databases simultaneously question. cs="Data Source=mywebsite.com;Initial Catalog=database;User Id=root;Password=toor;Connect Timeout=10;Pooling='true';" using (SqlConnection cnn = new SqlConnection(WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["cs"].ConnectionString)) { using (SqlCommand cmmnd = new SqlCommand("", cnn)) { try { cnn.Open(); #region Header & Description cmmnd.Parameters.Add("@CatID", SqlDbType.Int).Value = catId; cmmnd.CommandText = "SELECT UpperID, Title, Description FROM Categories WHERE CatID=@CatID;"; string mainCat = String.Empty, rootCat = String.Empty; using (SqlDataReader rdr = cmmnd.ExecuteReader()) { if (rdr.Read()) { mainCat = rdr["Title"].ToString(); upperId = Convert.ToInt32(rdr["UpperID"]); description = rdr["Title"]; } else { Response.Redirect("/", false); } } if (upperId > 0) //If upper category exists add its name { cmmnd.Parameters["@CatID"].Value = upperId; cmmnd.CommandText = "SELECT Title FROM Categories WHERE CatID=@CatID;"; using (SqlDataReader rdr = cmmnd.ExecuteReader()) { if (rdr.Read()) { rootCat = "<a href='x.aspx'>" + rdr["Title"] + "</a> &raquo; "; } } } #endregion #region Sub-Categories if (upperId == 0) //show only at root categories { cmmnd.Parameters["@CatID"].Value = catId; cmmnd.CommandText = "SELECT Count(CatID) FROM Categories WHERE UpperID=@CatID;"; if (Convert.ToInt32(cmmnd.ExecuteScalar()) > 0) { cmmnd.CommandText = "SELECT CatID, Title FROM Categories WHERE UpperID=@CatID ORDER BY Title;"; using (SqlDataReader rdr = cmmnd.ExecuteReader()) { while (rdr.Read()) { subcat.InnerHtml += "<a href='x.aspx'>" + rdr["Title"].ToString().ToLower() + "</a>\n"; description += rdr["Title"] + ", "; } } } } #endregion } catch (Exception ex) { HasanG.LogException(ex, Request.RawUrl, HttpContext.Current); Response.Redirect("/", false); } finally { cnn.Close(); } } } The random errors I'm receiving are: A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.) A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached. Cannot open database "db" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'root'.

  • PHP returning part of the code document

    - by The.Anti.9
    I have a PHP page that does a couple of different things depending on what action is set to in the GET data. Depending, it is supposed to return some JSON, but instead of doing anything it is supposed to it returns the bottom half of the code document itself, starting in the middle of the line. Heres the snippit from where it starts: ... } elseif ($_GET['action'] == 'addtop') { if (!isset($_GET['pname']) || !isset($_GET['url']) || !isset($_GET['artist']) || !isset($_GET['album']) || !isset($_GET['file'])) { die('Error: Incomplete data!'); } if (!file_exists($_GET['pname'].".txt")) { die('Error: No such playlist!'); } $plist = json_decode(file_get_contents($_GET['pname'].".txt"), true); $fh = fopen($_GET['pname'].".txt", 'w') or die('Could not open playlist!'); array_push($plist, array("artist" => $_GET['artist'], "album" => $_GET['album'], "file" => $_GET['file'], "url" => $_GET['url'])); fwrite($fh,json_encode($plist)); } elseif ($_GET['action'] == 'delfromp') { ... And here is what I get when I go to the page: $_GET['artist'], "album" = $_GET['album'], "file" = $_GET['file'], "url" = $_GET['url'])); fwrite($fh,json_encode($plist)); } elseif ($_GET['action'] == 'delfromp') { if (!isset($_GET['pname']) || !isset($_GET['id'])) { die('Error: Incomplete data!'); } if (!file_exists($_GET['pname'].".txt")) { die('Error: No such playlist!'); } $plist = json_decode(file_get_contents($_GET['pname'].".txt"), true); $fh = fopen($_GET['pname'].".txt", 'w') or die('Could not open playlist!'); unset($plist[$_GET['id']]); $plist = array_values($plist); fwrite($fh,json_encode($plist)); } elseif ($_GET['action'] == 'readp') { if (!file_exists($_GET['pname'].".txt")) { die('Error: No such playlist!'); } $plist = json_decode(file_get_contents($_GET['pname'].".txt"), true); $arr = array("entries" = $plist); $json = json_encode($arr); echo $json; } elseif ($_GET['action'] == 'getps') { $plists = array(); if ($handle = opendir('Playlists')) { while (false !== ($playlist = readdir($handle))) { if ($playlist != "." && $playlist != "..") { array_push($plists, substr($playlist, 0, strripos($playlist, '.')-1)); } } } else { die('Error: Can\'T open playlists!'); } $arr = array("entries"=$plists); $json = json_encode($arr); echo $json; } else { die('Error: No such action!'); } ? It starts in the middle of the array_push(... line. I really can't think of what it is doing. Theres no echos anywhere around it. Any ideas?

  • Make c# matrix code faster

    - by Wam
    Hi all, Working on some matrix code, I'm concerned of performance issues. here's how it works : I've a IMatrix abstract class (with all matrices operations etc), implemented by a ColumnMatrix class. abstract class IMatrix { public int Rows {get;set;} public int Columns {get;set;} public abstract float At(int row, int column); } class ColumnMatrix : IMatrix { private data[]; public override float At(int row, int column) { return data[row + columns * this.Rows]; } } This class is used a lot across my application, but I'm concerned with performance issues. Testing only read for a 2000000x15 matrix against a jagged array of the same size, I get 1359ms for array access agains 9234ms for matrix access : public void TestAccess() { int iterations = 10; int rows = 2000000; int columns = 15; ColumnMatrix matrix = new ColumnMatrix(rows, columns); for (int i = 0; i < rows; i++) for (int j = 0; j < columns; j++) matrix[i, j] = i + j; float[][] equivalentArray = matrix.ToRowsArray(); TimeSpan totalMatrix = new TimeSpan(0); TimeSpan totalArray = new TimeSpan(0); float total = 0f; for (int iteration = 0; iteration < iterations; iteration++) { total = 0f; DateTime start = DateTime.Now; for (int i = 0; i < rows; i++) for (int j = 0; j < columns; j++) total = matrix.At(i, j); totalMatrix += (DateTime.Now - start); total += 1f; //Ensure total is read at least once. total = total > 0 ? 0f : 0f; start = DateTime.Now; for (int i = 0; i < rows; i++) for (int j = 0; j < columns; j++) total = equivalentArray[i][j]; totalArray += (DateTime.Now - start); } if (total < 0f) logger.Info("Nothing here, just make sure we read total at least once."); logger.InfoFormat("Average time for a {0}x{1} access, matrix : {2}ms", rows, columns, totalMatrix.TotalMilliseconds); logger.InfoFormat("Average time for a {0}x{1} access, array : {2}ms", rows, columns, totalArray.TotalMilliseconds); Assert.IsTrue(true); } So my question : how can I make this thing faster ? Is there any way I can make my ColumnMatrix.At faster ? Cheers !

  • Android SQLiteConstraintException: error code 19: constraint failed

    - by Tom D
    I've seen other questions about this exception, but all of them seem to be resolved with the solution that a row with the primary key specified already exists. This doesn't seem to be the case for me. I have tried replacing all single quotes in my strings with double quotes, but the same problem occurs. I'm trying to insert a row into the Settings table of the SQLite database I've created by doing the following: db.execSQL("DROP TABLE IF EXISTS "+Settings.SETTINGS_TABLE_NAME + ";"); db.execSQL(CREATE_MEDIA_TABLE); db.execSQL(CREATE_SETTINGS_TABLE); Cursor c = getAllSettings(); //If there isn't already a settings row, create a row full of defaults if(c.getCount()==0){ ContentValues cv = new ContentValues(); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_UNIQUE_ID, "'"+Settings.uniqueID+"'"); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_DEVICE_ID, Settings.SETTING_DEVICE_ID_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_CONNECTION_PREFERENCE, Settings.SETTING_CONNECTION_PREFERENCE_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_AD_HOC_ENABLED, Settings.SETTING_AD_HOC_ENABLED_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_SERVER_ADDRESS, Settings.SETTING_SERVER_ADDRESS_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_RECORDING_MODE, Settings.SETTING_RECORDING_MODE_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_PREVIEW_ENABLED, Settings.SETTING_PREVIEW_ENABLED_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_PICTURE_RESOLUTION_X, Settings.SETTING_PICTURE_RESOLUTION_X_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_PICTURE_RESOLUTION_Y, Settings.SETTING_PICTURE_RESOLUTION_Y_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_VIDEO_RESOLUTION_X, Settings.SETTING_VIDEO_RESOLUTION_X_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_VIDEO_RESOLUTION_Y, Settings.SETTING_VIDEO_RESOLUTION_Y_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_VIDEO_FPS, Settings.SETTING_VIDEO_FPS_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_AUDIO_BITRATE_KBPS, Settings.SETTING_AUDIO_BITRATE_KBPS_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_STORE_TO_SD, Settings.SETTING_STORE_TO_SD_DEFAULT); cv.put(Settings.SETTING_STORAGE_LIMIT_MB, Settings.SETTING_STORAGE_LIMIT_MB_DEFAULT); this.db.insert(Settings.SETTINGS_TABLE_NAME, null, cv); } The CREATE_SETTINGS_TABLE string is defined as the following: private static String CREATE_SETTINGS_TABLE = "CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS " + Settings.SETTINGS_TABLE_NAME + "(" + Settings.SETTING_UNIQUE_ID + " TEXT NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, " + Settings.SETTING_DEVICE_ID + " TEXT NOT NULL , " + Settings.SETTING_CONNECTION_PREFERENCE + " TEXT NOT NULL CHECK("+Settings.SETTING_CONNECTION_PREFERENCE+" IN("+Settings.SETTING_CONNECTION_PREFERENCE_ALLOWED+")), " + Settings.SETTING_AD_HOC_ENABLED + " TEXT NOT NULL CHECK("+Settings.SETTING_AD_HOC_ENABLED+" IN("+Settings.SETTING_AD_HOC_ENABLED_ALLOWED+")), " + Settings.SETTING_SERVER_ADDRESS + " TEXT NOT NULL, " + Settings.SETTING_RECORDING_MODE + " TEXT NOT NULL CHECK("+Settings.SETTING_RECORDING_MODE+" IN("+Settings.SETTING_RECORDING_MODE_ALLOWED+")), " + Settings.SETTING_PREVIEW_ENABLED + " TEXT NOT NULL CHECK("+Settings.SETTING_PREVIEW_ENABLED+" IN("+Settings.SETTING_PREVIEW_ENABLED_ALLOWED+")), " + Settings.SETTING_PICTURE_RESOLUTION_X + " TEXT NOT NULL, " + Settings.SETTING_PICTURE_RESOLUTION_Y + " TEXT NOT NULL, " + Settings.SETTING_VIDEO_RESOLUTION_X + " TEXT NOT NULL, " + Settings.SETTING_VIDEO_RESOLUTION_Y + " TEXT NOT NULL, " + Settings.SETTING_VIDEO_FPS + " TEXT NOT NULL, " + Settings.SETTING_AUDIO_BITRATE_KBPS + " TEXT NOT NULL, " + Settings.SETTING_STORE_TO_SD + " TEXT NOT NULL CHECK("+Settings.SETTING_STORE_TO_SD+" IN("+Settings.SETTING_STORE_TO_SD_ALLOWED+")), " + Settings.SETTING_STORAGE_LIMIT_MB + " TEXT NOT NULL )"; However, when I execute my insert, I always get: 03-19 19:37:36.974: ERROR/Database(386): Error inserting server_address='0.0.0.0' storage_limit='-1' connection='none' preview_enabled='0' sd_enabled='1' video_fps='15' audio_bitrate='96' device_id='-1' recording_mode='none' picture_resolution_x='-1' picture_resolution_y='-1' unique_id='000000000000000' adhoc_enable='0' video_resolution_x='320' video_resolution_y='240' 03-19 19:45:34.284: ERROR/Database(446): android.database.sqlite.SQLiteConstraintException: error code 19: constraint failed It seems as if all the columns in my insert are not null.   • Foolishness Check: PHP Class finds Class file but not Class in the file.

    - by Daniel Bingham
    I'm at a loss here. I've defined an abstract superclass in one file and a subclass in another. I have required the super-classes file and the stack trace reports to find an include it. However, it then returns an error when it hits the 'extends' line: Fatal error: Class 'HTMLBuilder' not found in View/Markup/HTML/HTML4.01/HTML4_01Builder.php on line 7. I had this working with another class tree that uses factories a moment ago. I just added the builder layer in between the factories and the consumer. The factory layer looked almost exactly the same in terms of includes and dependencies. So that makes me think I must have done something silly that's causes the HTMLBuilder.php file to not be included correctly or interpreted correctly or some such. Here's the full stack trace (paths slightly altered): # Time Memory Function Location 1 0.0001 53904 {main}( ) ../index.php:0 2 0.0002 67600 require_once( 'View/Page.php' ) ../index.php:3 3 0.0003 75444 require_once( 'View/Sections/SectionFactory.php' ) ../Page.php:4 4 0.0003 81152 require_once( 'View/Sections/HTML/HTMLSectionFactory.php' ) ../SectionFactory.php:3 5 0.0004 92108 require_once( 'View/Sections/HTML/HTMLTitlebarSection.php' ) ../HTMLSectionFactory.php:5 6 0.0005 99716 require_once( 'View/Markup/HTML/HTMLBuilder.php' ) ../HTMLTitlebarSection.php:3 7 0.0005 103580 require_once( 'View/Markup/MarkupBuilder.php' ) ../HTMLBuilder.php:3 8 0.0006 124120 require_once( 'View/Markup/HTML/HTML4.01/HTML4_01Builder.php' ) ../MarkupBuilder.php:3 Here's the code in question: Parent class (View/Markup/HTML/HTMLBuilder.php): <?php require_once('View/Markup/MarkupBuilder.php'); abstract class HTMLBuilder extends MarkupBuilder { public abstract function getLink($text, $href); public abstract function getImage($src, $alt); public abstract function getDivision($id, array $classes=NULL, array $children=NULL); public abstract function getParagraph($text, array $classes=NULL, $id=NULL); } ?> Child Class, (View/Markup/HTML/HTML4.01/HTML4_01Builder.php): <?php require_once('HTML4_01Factory.php'); require_once('View/Markup/HTML/HTMLBuilder.php'); class HTML4_01Builder extends HTMLBuilder { private $factory; public function __construct() { $this->factory = new HTML4_01Factory(); } public function getLink($href, $text) { $link = $this->factory->getA(); $link->addAttribute('href', $href); $link->addChild($this->factory->getText($text)); return $link; } public function getImage($src, $alt) { $image = $this->factory->getImg(); $image->addAttribute('src', $src); $image->addAttribute('alt', $alt); return $image; } public function getDivision($id, array $classes=NULL, array $children=NULL) { $div = $this->factory->getDiv(); $div->setID($id); if(!empty($classes)) { $div->addClasses($classes); } if(!empty($children)) { $div->addChildren($children); } return $div; } public function getParagraph($text, array $classes=NULL, $id=NULL) { $p = $this->factory->getP(); $p->addChild($this->factory->getText($text)); if(!empty($classes)) { $p->addClasses($classes); } if(!empty($id)) { $p->setID($id); } return $p; } } ?> I would appreciate any and all ideas.   • Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 406 (Not Acceptable)

    - by skip
    I am trying to send json data and get back json data as well. I've <annotation-driven /> configured in my servlet-context.xml and I am using Spring framework version 3.1.0.RELEASE. When I send the request the browser tells me that it is not happy with the data returned from the server and gives me 406 error. And when I see the response from the server I see the whole 406 page returned by tomcat 6 server. I have got following in my pom for Jackson/Jackson processor: <!-- Jackson --> <dependency> <groupId>org.codehaus.jackson</groupId> <artifactId>jackson-core-asl</artifactId> <version>1.9.4</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.codehaus.jackson</groupId> <artifactId>jackson-mapper-asl</artifactId> <version>1.9.4</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.codehaus.jackson</groupId> <artifactId>jackson-xc</artifactId> <version>1.9.4</version> </dependency> <!-- Jackson JSON Processor --> <dependency> <groupId>org.codehaus.jackson</groupId> <artifactId>jackson-mapper-asl</artifactId> <version>1.8.1</version> </dependency> Following is the jquery code I am using to send the json request: $(function(){$(".sutmit-button").click(function(){ var dataString=$("#app-form").serialize(); $.ajax({ type:"POST", url:"apply.json", data:dataString, success:function(data, textStatus, jqXHR){ console.log(jqXHR.status); console.log(data); $('.postcontent').html("<div id='message'></div>"); $('#message').html("<h3>Request Submitted</h3>").append("<p>Thank you for submiting your request.</p>").hide().fadeIn(1500,function(){$('#message');}); }, error:function(jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) { console.log(jqXHR.status); $('.postcontent').html("<div id='message'></div>"); $('#message').html("<h3>Request failed.</h3>").hide().fadeIn(1500,function(){$('#message');}); }, dataType: "json" }); return false;});}); Following is the Controller that is handling the request: @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.POST, value="apply", headers="Accept=application/json") public @ResponseBody Application processFranchiseeApplicationForm(HttpServletRequest request) { //... Application application = new Application(...); //... logger.debug(application); return application; } I am not able to figure out the reason why I might be getting this error. • Screen capture code produces black bitmap

    - by wadetandy
    I need to add the ability to take a screenshot of the entire screen, not just the current window. The following code produces a bmp file with the correct dimensions, but the image is completely black. What am I doing wrong? void CaptureScreen(LPCTSTR lpszFilePathName) { BITMAPFILEHEADER bmfHeader; BITMAPINFO *pbminfo; HBITMAP hBmp; FILE *oFile; HDC screen; HDC memDC; int sHeight; int sWidth; LPBYTE pBuff; BITMAP bmp; WORD cClrBits; RECT rcClient; screen = GetDC(0); memDC = CreateCompatibleDC(screen); sHeight = GetDeviceCaps(screen, VERTRES); sWidth = GetDeviceCaps(screen, HORZRES); //GetObject(screen, sizeof(BITMAP), &bmp); hBmp = CreateCompatibleBitmap ( screen, sWidth, sHeight ); // Retrieve the bitmap color format, width, and height. • Rewrite C++ code into Objective C

    - by Phil_M
    Hello I got some C++ Sourcecode that I would like to rewrite into Objective C. It would help me alot if someone could write me a header file for this Code. When I get the Headerfile I would be able to rewrite the rest of the Sourcecode. It would be very nice if someone could help me please. Thanks I will poste the sourcecode here: #include <stdlib.h> #include <iostream.h> #define STATES 5 int transitionTable[STATES][STATES]; // function declarations: double randfloat (void); int chooseNextEventFromTable (int current, int table[STATES][STATES]); int chooseNextEventFromTransitionTablee (int currentState); void setTable (int value, int table[STATES][STATES]); ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// int main(void) { int i; // for demo purposes: transitionTable[0][0] = 0; transitionTable[0][1] = 20; transitionTable[0][2] = 30; transitionTable[0][3] = 50; transitionTable[0][4] = 0; transitionTable[1][0] = 35; transitionTable[1][1] = 25; transitionTable[1][2] = 20; transitionTable[1][3] = 30; transitionTable[1][4] = 0; transitionTable[2][0] = 70; transitionTable[2][1] = 0; transitionTable[2][2] = 15; transitionTable[2][3] = 0; transitionTable[2][4] = 15; transitionTable[3][0] = 0; transitionTable[3][1] = 25; transitionTable[3][2] = 25; transitionTable[3][3] = 0; transitionTable[3][4] = 50; transitionTable[4][0] = 13; transitionTable[4][1] = 17; transitionTable[4][2] = 22; transitionTable[4][3] = 48; transitionTable[4][4] = 0; int currentState = 0; for (i=0; i<10; i++) { std::cout << currentState << " "; currentState = chooseNextEventFromTransitionTablee(currentState); } return 0; }; ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////// // // chooseNextEventFromTransitionTable -- choose the next note. // int chooseNextEventFromTransitionTablee(int currentState) { int targetSum = 0; int sum = 0; int targetNote = 0; int totalevents = 0; int i; currentState = currentState % STATES; // remove any octave value for (i=0; i<STATES; i++) { totalevents += transitionTable[currentState][i]; } targetSum = (int)(randfloat() * totalevents + 0.5); while (targetNote < STATES && sum+transitionTable[currentState][targetNote] < targetSum) { sum += transitionTable[currentState][targetNote]; targetNote++; } return targetNote; } ////////////////////////////// // // randfloat -- returns a random number between 0.0 and 1.0. // double randfloat(void) { return (double)rand()/RAND_MAX; } ////////////////////////////// // // setTable -- set all values in the transition table to the given value. // void setTable(int value, int table[STATES][STATES]) { int i, j; for (i=0; i<STATES; i++) { for (j=0; j<STATES; j++) { table[i][j] = value; } } }

  • Problems with this code?

    - by J4C3N-14
    I'm trying to use this code which is an example taken from here https://gist.github.com/2383248 , but it is coming up with a error on the public void onClick which is Multiple markers at this line - implements android.view.View.OnClickListener.onClick - Syntax error, insert "}" to complete MethodBody, but when I add the brace it just throws another error after many tries and fails of different suggestions and ideas. It may be a syntax error and bad coding from me (just started learning to program) but does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this or point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. public class ICSCalendarActivity extends Activity implements View.OnClickListener{ Button button1; int year1; int month1; int day1; int ShiftPattern; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); button1 = (Button)findViewById(R.id.openButton); button1.setText("open"); button1.setOnClickListener(this); Bundle extras = getIntent().getExtras(); year1 = extras.getInt("year1"); day1 = extras.getInt("day1"); month1 = extras.getInt("month1"); ShiftPattern = extras.getInt("ShiftPattern"); } public void onClick(View v){ private static void addToCalendar(Context ICSCalendarActivity, final String title, final long dtstart, final long dtend) { final ContentResolver cr = ICSCalendarActivity.getContentResolver(); Cursor cursor ; if (Integer.parseInt(Build.VERSION.SDK) >= 8 ) cursor = cr.query(Uri.parse("content://com.android.calendar/calendars"), new String[]{ "_id", "displayname" }, null, null, null); else cursor = cr.query(Uri.parse("content://calendar/calendars"), new String[]{ "_id", "displayname" }, null, null, null); if ( cursor.moveToFirst() ) { final String[] calNames = new String[cursor.getCount()]; final int[] calIds = new int[cursor.getCount()]; for (int i = 0; i < calNames.length; i++) { calIds[i] = cursor.getInt(0); calNames[i] = cursor.getString(1); cursor.moveToNext(); } AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(ICSCalendarActivity); builder.setSingleChoiceItems(calNames, -1, new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) { ContentValues cv = new ContentValues(); cv.put("calendar_id", calIds[which]); cv.put("title", title); cv.put("dtstart", dtstart ); cv.put("hasAlarm", 1); cv.put("dtend", dtend); Uri newEvent ; if (Integer.parseInt(Build.VERSION.SDK) >= 8 ) newEvent = cr.insert(Uri.parse("content://com.android.calendar/events"), cv); else newEvent = cr.insert(Uri.parse("content://calendar/events"), cv); if (newEvent != null) { long id = Long.parseLong( newEvent.getLastPathSegment() ); ContentValues values = new ContentValues(); values.put( "event_id", id ); values.put( "method", 1 ); values.put( "minutes", 15 ); // 15 minutes if (Integer.parseInt(Build.VERSION.SDK) >= 8 ) cr.insert( Uri.parse( "content://com.android.calendar/reminders" ), values ); else cr.insert( Uri.parse( "content://calendar/reminders" ), values ); } dialog.cancel(); } }); builder.create().show(); } cursor.close(); } } Thank you.

  • As a web designer, which language should I learn first for my feature career? (PHP or JavaScript) [closed]

    - by kdevs3
    Possible Duplicates: Best Programming Language for Web Development How can I choose a web development language? What language will you choose if you are going to build something big? What is the right option of programming languages and tools for building our website? What is the easiest web programing language at....? Well, I'm more of a basic web designer. I know the easy stuff pretty well. (Ya know, html, css) But I've been trying to take it to the next step and I'm contemplating about what I should learn that will help me out the most in my future web design/programming career, should it be JavaScript or maybe I should try to learn a back end programming language such as PHP. Lately, I have been hearing about a lot how JavaScript is so great and useful now, because of libraries such as jQuery and what possibility's it can bring by using Node.js and other frameworks. I've only learned the most basic of JavaScript and used some jQuery (mostly plugins) so i wouldn't know at all of what it can actually do. Would JS being so popular as it is now and useful, be a reason to stick with JavaScript and only learn it that for now? Or as a web designer, how important would it be to learn how to make a web application/website operate and functional, and know how to work with servers, etc? (Such as getting forms to work and sending data to the server and back) I've took a look at frameworks such as Code Igniter before, and looks really simple to get started with if I try to learn PHP, But I'm not sure how important it is for my career and what I would gain out of it. I'm asking because I can't decide what I should learn first. When I select it, I really want to take my time and learn the language. I don't want to spend time on learning multiple languages at the same time, so I need to pick wisely. I'm trying to turn the right direction so my career can hopefully be successful in the feature. (If money/gaining a job asked if its important, then its a yeah, it is a bit) I'm hoping I can get opinions and suggestions on this question, thanks for giving me your thoughts also.

  • How to appear very professional on my first freelance project?

    - by iamserious
    I need some help on appearing very professional on my first freelance project. How / What should you do to achieve this? Background: I started as a full time web developer 18 months ago, two promotions later I am now a senior software engineer. I've never had any problems with designing / developing / coding a complicated system. I thought I could use some help for Christmas and I started bidding for a project and now I have one - from a very reputable lawyers association in London. I have no problem dealing with the actual implementation of the system, but I have no idea how to appear professional throughout the whole process. About the project: This lawyers association are starting a distant training courses and in addition to having a website to show off all their clients etc, they want a students area where their students would log in, download course materials allocated to them etc.. and an admin section where they assign courses to students / create new ones / upload materials etc.. Questions breakdown: 1) How should I start with the requirement gathering? Is using scrum a good idea, or should I use something like Volere Template - and what should I do with it? should I submit a copy to the client etc.. 2) How often should I meet the client? Would once a fortnight would be good? 3) What are the processes / protocols that I need to follow so that they would be satisfied with me and think that I am very professional 4) How much should I charge for the product? 5) How should I get a quote / contract / receipt for the whole project? 6) What are the steps that professional freelancers go through, during the life cycle of a project? My Research so far Looking at How much should I charge doesn't help.. I live in London, zone 1, though I have no idea how much a project of this size would cost. Help on this would be appreciated. How to be professional articles talks about the work / time management etc and not the actual process, what would real people do etc.. it's like academia theory, but not practical. If this needs revising, please let me know, do not close it because of whatever reason, I will edit the question or details to fit the needs. Thanks for reading a lengthy question.

  • Java code optimization on matrix windowing computes in more time

    - by rano
    I have a matrix which represents an image and I need to cycle over each pixel and for each one of those I have to compute the sum of all its neighbors, ie the pixels that belong to a window of radius rad centered on the pixel. I came up with three alternatives: The simplest way, the one that recomputes the window for each pixel The more optimized way that uses a queue to store the sums of the window columns and cycling through the columns of the matrix updates this queue by adding a new element and removing the oldes The even more optimized way that does not need to recompute the queue for each row but incrementally adjusts a previously saved one I implemented them in c++ using a queue for the second method and a combination of deques for the third (I need to iterate through their elements without destructing them) and scored their times to see if there was an actual improvement. it appears that the third method is indeed faster. Then I tried to port the code to Java (and I must admit that I'm not very comfortable with it). I used ArrayDeque for the second method and LinkedLists for the third resulting in the third being inefficient in time. Here is the simplest method in C++ (I'm not posting the java version since it is almost identical): void normalWindowing(int mat[][MAX], int cols, int rows, int rad){ int i, j; int h = 0; for (i = 0; i < rows; ++i) { for (j = 0; j < cols; j++) { h = 0; for (int ry =- rad; ry <= rad; ry++) { int y = i + ry; if (y >= 0 && y < rows) { for (int rx =- rad; rx <= rad; rx++) { int x = j + rx; if (x >= 0 && x < cols) { h += mat[y][x]; } } } } } } } Here is the second method (the one optimized through columns) in C++: void opt1Windowing(int mat[][MAX], int cols, int rows, int rad){ int i, j, h, y, col; queue<int>* q = NULL; for (i = 0; i < rows; ++i) { if (q != NULL) delete(q); q = new queue<int>(); h = 0; for (int rx = 0; rx <= rad; rx++) { if (rx < cols) { int mem = 0; for (int ry =- rad; ry <= rad; ry++) { y = i + ry; if (y >= 0 && y < rows) { mem += mat[y][rx]; } } q->push(mem); h += mem; } } for (j = 1; j < cols; j++) { col = j + rad; if (j - rad > 0) { h -= q->front(); q->pop(); } if (j + rad < cols) { int mem = 0; for (int ry =- rad; ry <= rad; ry++) { y = i + ry; if (y >= 0 && y < rows) { mem += mat[y][col]; } } q->push(mem); h += mem; } } } } And here is the Java version: public static void opt1Windowing(int [][] mat, int rad){ int i, j = 0, h, y, col; int cols = mat[0].length; int rows = mat.length; ArrayDeque<Integer> q = null; for (i = 0; i < rows; ++i) { q = new ArrayDeque<Integer>(); h = 0; for (int rx = 0; rx <= rad; rx++) { if (rx < cols) { int mem = 0; for (int ry =- rad; ry <= rad; ry++) { y = i + ry; if (y >= 0 && y < rows) { mem += mat[y][rx]; } } q.addLast(mem); h += mem; } } j = 0; for (j = 1; j < cols; j++) { col = j + rad; if (j - rad > 0) { h -= q.peekFirst(); q.pop(); } if (j + rad < cols) { int mem = 0; for (int ry =- rad; ry <= rad; ry++) { y = i + ry; if (y >= 0 && y < rows) { mem += mat[y][col]; } } q.addLast(mem); h += mem; } } } } I recognize this post will be a wall of text. Here is the third method in C++: void opt2Windowing(int mat[][MAX], int cols, int rows, int rad){ int i = 0; int j = 0; int h = 0; int hh = 0; deque< deque<int> *> * M = new deque< deque<int> *>(); for (int ry = 0; ry <= rad; ry++) { if (ry < rows) { deque<int> * q = new deque<int>(); M->push_back(q); for (int rx = 0; rx <= rad; rx++) { if (rx < cols) { int val = mat[ry][rx]; q->push_back(val); h += val; } } } } deque<int> * C = new deque<int>(M->front()->size()); deque<int> * Q = new deque<int>(M->front()->size()); deque<int> * R = new deque<int>(M->size()); deque< deque<int> *>::iterator mit; deque< deque<int> *>::iterator mstart = M->begin(); deque< deque<int> *>::iterator mend = M->end(); deque<int>::iterator rit; deque<int>::iterator rstart = R->begin(); deque<int>::iterator rend = R->end(); deque<int>::iterator cit; deque<int>::iterator cstart = C->begin(); deque<int>::iterator cend = C->end(); for (mit = mstart, rit = rstart; mit != mend, rit != rend; ++mit, ++rit) { deque<int>::iterator pit; deque<int>::iterator pstart = (* mit)->begin(); deque<int>::iterator pend = (* mit)->end(); for(cit = cstart, pit = pstart; cit != cend && pit != pend; ++cit, ++pit) { (* cit) += (* pit); (* rit) += (* pit); } } for (i = 0; i < rows; ++i) { j = 0; if (i - rad > 0) { deque<int>::iterator cit; deque<int>::iterator cstart = C->begin(); deque<int>::iterator cend = C->end(); deque<int>::iterator pit; deque<int>::iterator pstart = (M->front())->begin(); deque<int>::iterator pend = (M->front())->end(); for(cit = cstart, pit = pstart; cit != cend; ++cit, ++pit) { (* cit) -= (* pit); } deque<int> * k = M->front(); M->pop_front(); delete k; h -= R->front(); R->pop_front(); } int row = i + rad; if (row < rows && i > 0) { deque<int> * newQ = new deque<int>(); M->push_back(newQ); deque<int>::iterator cit; deque<int>::iterator cstart = C->begin(); deque<int>::iterator cend = C->end(); int rx; int tot = 0; for (rx = 0, cit = cstart; rx <= rad; rx++, ++cit) { if (rx < cols) { int val = mat[row][rx]; newQ->push_back(val); (* cit) += val; tot += val; } } R->push_back(tot); h += tot; } hh = h; copy(C->begin(), C->end(), Q->begin()); for (j = 1; j < cols; j++) { int col = j + rad; if (j - rad > 0) { hh -= Q->front(); Q->pop_front(); } if (j + rad < cols) { int val = 0; for (int ry =- rad; ry <= rad; ry++) { int y = i + ry; if (y >= 0 && y < rows) { val += mat[y][col]; } } hh += val; Q->push_back(val); } } } } And finally its Java version: public static void opt2Windowing(int [][] mat, int rad){ int cols = mat[0].length; int rows = mat.length; int i = 0; int j = 0; int h = 0; int hh = 0; LinkedList<LinkedList<Integer>> M = new LinkedList<LinkedList<Integer>>(); for (int ry = 0; ry <= rad; ry++) { if (ry < rows) { LinkedList<Integer> q = new LinkedList<Integer>(); M.addLast(q); for (int rx = 0; rx <= rad; rx++) { if (rx < cols) { int val = mat[ry][rx]; q.addLast(val); h += val; } } } } int firstSize = M.getFirst().size(); int mSize = M.size(); LinkedList<Integer> C = new LinkedList<Integer>(); LinkedList<Integer> Q = null; LinkedList<Integer> R = new LinkedList<Integer>(); for (int k = 0; k < firstSize; k++) { C.add(0); } for (int k = 0; k < mSize; k++) { R.add(0); } ListIterator<LinkedList<Integer>> mit; ListIterator<Integer> rit; ListIterator<Integer> cit; ListIterator<Integer> pit; for (mit = M.listIterator(), rit = R.listIterator(); mit.hasNext();) { Integer r = rit.next(); int rsum = 0; for (cit = C.listIterator(), pit = (mit.next()).listIterator(); cit.hasNext();) { Integer c = cit.next(); Integer p = pit.next(); rsum += p; cit.set(c + p); } rit.set(r + rsum); } for (i = 0; i < rows; ++i) { j = 0; if (i - rad > 0) { for(cit = C.listIterator(), pit = M.getFirst().listIterator(); cit.hasNext();) { Integer c = cit.next(); Integer p = pit.next(); cit.set(c - p); } M.removeFirst(); h -= R.getFirst(); R.removeFirst(); } int row = i + rad; if (row < rows && i > 0) { LinkedList<Integer> newQ = new LinkedList<Integer>(); M.addLast(newQ); int rx; int tot = 0; for (rx = 0, cit = C.listIterator(); rx <= rad; rx++) { if (rx < cols) { Integer c = cit.next(); int val = mat[row][rx]; newQ.addLast(val); cit.set(c + val); tot += val; } } R.addLast(tot); h += tot; } hh = h; Q = new LinkedList<Integer>(); Q.addAll(C); for (j = 1; j < cols; j++) { int col = j + rad; if (j - rad > 0) { hh -= Q.getFirst(); Q.pop(); } if (j + rad < cols) { int val = 0; for (int ry =- rad; ry <= rad; ry++) { int y = i + ry; if (y >= 0 && y < rows) { val += mat[y][col]; } } hh += val; Q.addLast(val); } } } } I guess that most is due to the poor choice of the LinkedList in Java and to the lack of an efficient (not shallow) copy method between two LinkedList. How can I improve the third Java method? Am I doing some conceptual error? As always, any criticisms is welcome. UPDATE Even if it does not solve the issue, using ArrayLists, as being suggested, instead of LinkedList improves the third method. The second one performs still better (but when the number of rows and columns of the matrix is lower than 300 and the window radius is small the first unoptimized method is the fastest in Java)

  • Help debugging c fifos code - stack smashing detected - open call not functioning - removing pipes

    - by nunos
    I have three bugs/questions regarding the source code pasted below: stack smashing deteced: In order to compile and not have that error I have addedd the gcc compile flag -fno-stack-protector. However, this should be just a temporary solution, since I would like to find where the cause for this is and correct it. However, I haven't been able to do so. Any clues? For some reason, the last open function call doesn't work and the programs just stops there, without an error, even though the fifo already exists. I want to delete the pipes from the filesystem after before terminating the processes. I have added close and unlink statements at the end, but the fifos are not removed. What am I doing wrong? Thanks very much in advance. P.S.: I am pasting here the whole source file for additional clarity. Just ignore the comments, since they are in my own native language. server.c: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <errno.h> #define MAX_INPUT_LENGTH 100 #define FIFO_NAME_MAX_LEN 20 #define FIFO_DIR "/tmp/" #define FIFO_NAME_CMD_CLI_TO_SRV "lrc_cmd_cli_to_srv" typedef enum { false, true } bool; • Error Message, "The Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks"

    - by Gogster
    I'm receiving this error on a page that previously worked fine, in fact the only change I've made to the page recently was to add another asp:TextBox and asp:RequiredFieldValidator control. The page already had numerous ASP.NET controls on it, so I cannot see why these extra controls would make a difference, anyway I shall post the code below and hopefully you can see what the error is: • Windows Phone 7 ActiveSync error 86000C09 (My First Post!)

    - by Chris Heacock
    Hello fellow geeks! I'm kicking off this new blog with an issue that was a real nuisance, but was relatively easy to fix. During a recent Exchange 2003 to 2010 migration, one of the users was getting an error on his Windows Phone 7 device. The error code that popped up on the phone on every sync attempt was 86000C09 We tested the following: Different user on the same device: WORKED Problem user on a different device: FAILED   Seemed to point (conclusively) at the user's account as the crux of the issue. This error can come up if a user has too many devices syncing, but he had no other phones. We verified that using the following command: Get-ActiveSyncDeviceStatistics -Identity USERID Turns out, it was the old familiar inheritable permissions issue in Active Directory. :-/ This user was not an admin, nor had he ever been one. HOWEVER, his account was cloned from an ex-admin user, so the unchecked box stayed unchecked. We checked the box and voila, data started flowing to his device(s). Here's a refresher on enabling Inheritable permissions: Open ADUC, and enable Advanced Features: Then open properties and go to the Security tab for the user in question: Click on Advanced, and the following screen should pop up: Verify that "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" is *checked*.   You will notice that for certain users, this box keeps getting unchecked. This is normal behavior due to the inbuilt security of Active Directory. People that are in the following groups will have this flag altered by AD: Account Operators Administrators Backup Operators Domain Admins Domain Controllers Enterprise Admins Print Operators Read-Only Domain Controllers Replicator Schema Admins Server Operators Once the box is cheked, permissions will flow and the user will be set correctly. Even if the box is unchecked, they will function normally as they now has the proper permissions configured. You need to perform this same excercise when enabling users for Lync, but that's another blog. :-)   -Chris

  • Fünf Jahre Bonn-to-Code.Net – das muss gefeiert werden!

    - by WeigeltRo

  • How to Set Ubuntu 12.04 to it's factory settings like when u first installed it?

    - by Cameron
    Well, this is a simple answered question, from the title, but my real problem is hard af. I have set ubuntu to use root, then it wouldn't let me log into the admin account only root and guest I deleted the admin account, remade another, then attempted to disable root account. This failed - I messed up the password, the original password was "root" I also didn't set a password for my new admin account, so It says it has one, whats the default password for it? I can't moderate my ubuntu system at all now. I have tried to drop to cmd shell thing, it asks for the root password, i type 'root' and any other possible passwords, it doesn't work. To reset ubuntu to factory settings i have found that i could enter the following code: sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh -a sudo Requires admin password, that I cant find out without root password and I don;t know. My goal is to try to fix this without remaking a bootable usb for ubuntu, because I lost the one i made for this. so If i can't, please say so. If you can help thanks!

  • Acceptance tests done first...how can this be accomplished?

    - by Crazy Eddie
    The basic gist of most Agile methods is that a feature is not "done" until it's been developed, tested, and in many cases released. This is supposed to happen in quick turnaround chunks of time such as "Sprints" in the Scrum process. A common part of Agile is also TDD, which states that tests are done first. My team works on a GUI program that does a lot of specific drawing and such. In order to provide tests, the testing team needs to be able to work with something that at least attempts to perform the things they are trying to test. We've found no way around this problem. I can very much see where they are coming from because if I was trying to write software that targeted some basically mysterious interface I'd have a very hard time. Although we have behavior fairly well specified, the exact process of interacting with various UI elements when it comes to automation seems to be too unique to a feature to allow testers to write automated scripts to drive something that does not exist. Even if we could, a lot of things end up turning up later as having been missing from the specification. One thing we considered doing was having the testers write test "scripts" that are more like a set of steps that must be performed, as described from a use-case perspective, so that they can be "automated" by a human being. This can then be performed by the developer(s) writing the feature and/or verified by someone else. When the testers later get an opportunity they automate the "script" for regression purposes mainly. This didn't end up catching on in the team though. The testing part of the team is actually falling behind us by quite a margin. This is one reason why the apparently extra time of developing a "script" for a human being to perform just did not happen....they're under a crunch to keep up with us developers. If we waited for them, we'd get nothing done. It's not their fault really, they're a bottle neck but they're doing what they should be and working as fast as possible. The process itself seems to be set up against them. Very often we end up having to go back a month or more in what we've done to fix bugs that the testers have finally gotten to checking. It's an ugly truth that I'd like to do something about. So what do other teams do to solve this fail cascade? How can we get testers ahead of us and how can we make it so that there's actually time for them to write tests for the features we do in a sprint without making us sit and twiddle our thumbs in the meantime? As it's currently going, in order to get a feature "done", using agile definitions, would be to have developers work for 1 week, then testers work the second week, and developers hopefully being able to fix all the bugs they come up with in the last couple days. That's just not going to happen, even if I agreed it was a reasonable solution. I need better ideas...

  • 403 error after adding javascript to masterpage for sharepoint.

    - by Jeremy
    I am attempting to add highslide-with-html.js from http://highslide.com/ to my masterpage. I am receiving a 403 forbidden error when I use the provided masterpage. I have placed it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033. Test javascript files such as pirate.js which consists solely of alert("Arr!"); have loaded from the same directory. I have provided the code for the masterpage. When I do not reference the problem javascript file there is no 403 error. <%@ Master language="C#" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <%@ Import Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint" %> <%@ Register Tagprefix="SPSWC" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.WebControls" Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %> <%@ Register Tagprefix="SharePoint" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls" Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %> <%@ Register Tagprefix="WebPartPages" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages" Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %> <%@ Register Tagprefix="PublishingWebControls" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.WebControls" Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %> <%@ Register Tagprefix="PublishingNavigation" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Navigation" Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="wssuc" TagName="Welcome" src="~/_controltemplates/Welcome.ascx" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="wssuc" TagName="DesignModeConsole" src="~/_controltemplates/DesignModeConsole.ascx" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="PublishingVariations" TagName="VariationsLabelMenu" src="~/_controltemplates/VariationsLabelMenu.ascx" %> <%@ Register Tagprefix="PublishingConsole" TagName="Console" src="~/_controltemplates/PublishingConsole.ascx" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="PublishingSiteAction" TagName="SiteActionMenu" src="~/_controltemplates/PublishingActionMenu.ascx" %> <html dir="<%$Resources:wss, multipages_direction_dir_value %>" runat="server" __expr-val-dir="ltr"> <head runat="server"> <meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft SharePoint"> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;   • What are the default groups assigned to the first user in Ubuntu Server?

    - by Wayne Koorts
    I just made a silly mistake on my Ubuntu Server box: I added myself to a group using usermod -G, after which I discovered the -a option... The result is that I am now out of the admin group, and lost my sudo rights. I can sort that out, but I want to know what other groups I may been removed from? My user was the first one so what I'm looking for is a list of groups that the first user gets added to at installation time.
