  • ASP.NET - I am generating an .XLS file with a DLL, how do I grant permissions for writing to file? (

    - by hamlin11
    I'm generating an .XLS file with a DLL (Excel Library http://code.google.com/p/excellibrary/) I've added this DLL as a reference to my project. The code to save the .XLS to disk is running, but it's encountering a permissions issue. I've attempted to set full access for IUSRS, Network Service, and Everyone just to see if I could get it working, and none of these seems to make a difference. Here's where I'm trying to write the file: c:/temp/test1.xls Here's the error: [SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.] System.Security.CodeAccessSecurityEngine.Check(Object demand, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean isPermSet) +0 System.Security.CodeAccessPermission.Demand() +54 System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy) +2103 System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy) +138 System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share) +89 System.IO.File.Open(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share) +58 ExcelLibrary.Office.CompoundDocumentFormat.CompoundDocument.Create(String file) +88 ExcelLibrary.Office.Excel.Workbook.Save(String file) +73 CHC_Reports.LitAnalysis.CreateSpreadSheet_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in C:\Users\brian\Desktop\Enterprise Manager\CHC_Reports\LitAnalysis.aspx.vb:19 System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e) +115 System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument) +140 System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(IPostBackEventHandler sourceControl, String eventArgument) +29 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +11041511 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +11041050 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest() +91 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) +240 ASP.litanalysis_aspx.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) +52 System.Web.CallHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +599 System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +171 Any idea what I need to do to diagnose the permissions issue and allow the file creation? • C++ Returning a Reference

    - by Devil Jin
    Consider the following code where I am returning double& and a string&. The thing works fine in the case of a double but not in the case of a string. Why is this difference in the behavior? In both the cases compiler does not even throws the Warning: returning address of local variable or temporary as I am returning a reference. #include <iostream> #include <string> using namespace std; double &getDouble(){ double h = 46.5; double &hours = h; return hours; } string &getString(){ string str = "Devil Jin"; string &refStr = str; return refStr; } int main(){ double d = getDouble(); cout << "Double = " << d << endl; string str = getString(); cout << "String = " << str.c_str() << endl; return 0; } Output: $ ./a.exe Double = 46.5 String =

  • I'm trying to install psycopg2 onto Mac OS 10.6.3; it claims it can't find "stdarg.h" but I can see

    - by cojadate
    I'm desperately trying to successfully install psycopg2 but keep running into errors. The latest one seems to involve it not being to find "stdarg.h" (see code below). However I can see with my own eyes that a file called stdarg.h exists at /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/include/stdarg.h (where it claims it can't find anything) so I've no idea what to do about it. I'm running Mac OS 10.6.3 and within the last few days I've made sure I have all the latest OS developer tools. I have Python 2.6.2 and PostgreSQL 8.4 if that makes any difference. python setup.py install running install running build running build_py running build_ext building 'psycopg2._psycopg' extension creating build/temp.macosx-10.3-fat-2.6 creating build/temp.macosx-10.3-fat-2.6/psycopg gcc -arch ppc -arch i386 -isysroot /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common -dynamic -DNDEBUG -g -O3 -DPSYCOPG_DEFAULT_PYDATETIME=1 -DPSYCOPG_VERSION="2.2.1 (dt dec ext pq3)" -DPG_VERSION_HEX=0x080404 -DPSYCOPG_EXTENSIONS=1 -DPSYCOPG_NEW_BOOLEAN=1 -DHAVE_PQFREEMEM=1 -DHAVE_PQPROTOCOL3=1 -I/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/include/python2.6 -I. -I/opt/local/include/postgresql84 -I/opt/local/include/postgresql84/server -c psycopg/psycopgmodule.c -o build/temp.macosx-10.3-fat-2.6/psycopg/psycopgmodule.o In file included from /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/include/python2.6/unicodeobject.h:4, from /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/include/python2.6/Python.h:85, from psycopg/psycopgmodule.c:27: /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/include/stdarg.h:4:25: error: stdarg.h: No such file or directory In file included from /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/include/python2.6/unicodeobject.h:4, from /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/include/python2.6/Python.h:85, from psycopg/psycopgmodule.c:27: /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/include/stdarg.h:4:25: error: stdarg.h: No such file or directory lipo: can't figure out the architecture type of: /var/folders/MQ/MQ-tWOWWG+izzuZCrAJpzk+++TI/-Tmp-//ccakFhRS.out error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status

  • What should a self-taught programmer with no degree learn/read?

    - by sjbotha
    I am a self-taught programmer and I do do not have any degrees. I started pretty young and I've got about 7 years of actual programming work experience. I believe I'm a pretty good programmer, but I admit that I have not played much with algorithms or delved into any really low-level aspects of programming such as how compilers work. I have worked with other programmers with and without degrees. Some were good and some not; having a degree didn't seem to make any difference as to which pot they fell into. Since then I've come to realize that it does depend on the school where the degree is obtained. Some people suggest that you really should get a degree; that there are things you'll learn in the process that you won't learn in the real world. Of course there is personal growth and discipline learned from completing a task of that magnitude, but let's just concentrate on the technical knowledge. What would I have been taught in a GOOD CS course that would aid me today and what can I read to fill the gap? I've heard the book "Algorithms" mentioned and I plan on reading that. What other books would you recommend? Edit: Clarification on 'actual work experience': Have worked for 2 small companies on teams with fewer than 5 people. About 2 years experience with Perl, Python, PHP, C, C++. About 5 years experience in Java, Applets, RMI, T-SQL, PL/SQL, VB6. 7 years experience in HTML, Javascript, bash, SQL. Most recently in Java designed and helped build an N-tier Java app with web frontend and RMI.

  • Stringing multiple ShellExecute calls

    - by IVlad
    Consider the following code and its executable - runner.exe: #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <windows.h> using namespace std; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { SHELLEXECUTEINFO shExecInfo; shExecInfo.cbSize = sizeof(SHELLEXECUTEINFO); shExecInfo.fMask = NULL; shExecInfo.hwnd = NULL; shExecInfo.lpVerb = "open"; shExecInfo.lpFile = argv[1]; string Params = ""; for ( int i = 2; i < argc; ++i ) Params += argv[i] + ' '; shExecInfo.lpParameters = Params.c_str(); shExecInfo.lpDirectory = NULL; shExecInfo.nShow = SW_SHOWNORMAL; shExecInfo.hInstApp = NULL; ShellExecuteEx(&shExecInfo); return 0; } These two batch files both do what they're supposed to, which is run notepad.exe and run notepad.exe and tell it to try to open test.txt: 1. runner.exe notepad.exe 2. runner.exe notepad.exe test.txt Now, consider this batch file: 3. runner.exe runner.exe notepad.exe This one should run runner.exe and send notepad.exe as one of its command line arguments, shouldn't it? Then, that second instance of runner.exe should run notepad.exe - which doesn't happen. If I print the argc argument, it's 14 for the second instance of runner.exe, and they are all weird stuff like Files\Microsoft, SQL, Files\Common and so on. I can't figure out why this happens. I want to be able to string as many runner.exe calls using command line arguments as possible, or at least 2. How can I do that? I am using Windows 7 if that makes a difference.

  • R:how to get grep to return the match, rather than the whole string

    - by Mike Dewar
    Hi, I have what is probably a really dumb grep in R question. Apologies, because this seems like it should be so easy - I'm obviously just missing something. I have a vector of strings, let's call it alice. Some of alice is printed out below: T.8EFF.SP.OT1.D5.VSVOVA#4 T.8EFF.SP.OT1.D6.LISOVA#1 T.8EFF.SP.OT1.D6.LISOVA#2 T.8EFF.SP.OT1.D6.LISOVA#3 T.8EFF.SP.OT1.D6.VSVOVA#4 T.8EFF.SP.OT1.D8.VSVOVA#3 T.8EFF.SP.OT1.D8.VSVOVA#4 T.8MEM.SP#1 T.8MEM.SP#3 T.8MEM.SP.OT1.D106.VSVOVA#2 T.8MEM.SP.OT1.D45.LISOVA#1 T.8MEM.SP.OT1.D45.LISOVA#3 I'd like grep to give me the number after the D that appears in some of these strings, conditional on the string containing "LIS" and an empty string or something otherwise. I was hoping that grep would return me the value of a capturing group rather than the whole string. Here's my R-flavoured regexp: pattern <- (?<=\\.D)([0-9]+)(?=.LIS) nothing too complicated. But in order to get what I'm after, rather than just using grep(pattern, alice, value = TRUE, perl = TRUE) I'm doing the following, which seems bad: reg.out <- regexpr( "(?<=\\.D)[0-9]+(?=.LIS)", alice, perl=TRUE ) substr(alice,reg.out,reg.out + attr(reg.out,"match.length")-1) Looking at it now it doesn't seem too ugly, but the amount of messing about it's taken to get this utterly trivial thing working has been embarrassing. Anyone any pointers about how to go about this properly? Bonus marks for pointing me to a webpage that explains the difference between whatever I access with $,@ and attr.

  • Pros and cons of MPMoviePlayerController versus launching UIWebView to stream movie

    - by Nosredna
    I have a client who has video content for the web in Flash format. My task is to help them show the videos in an iPhone app. I realize that step one is to get these videos into the appropriate Quicktime format for the iPhone. Then I'm going to have to help the client figure out how or where to host these files. If that's tricky I assume they can be hosted at YouTube. My chief concern, though, is which approach to take to stream the video. What are the pros and cons of MPMoviePlayerController versus launching UIWebView with the URL of the stream? Is there any difference? Is one of them more or less forgiving? Is one of them a better user experience? Any gotchas I might expect to run into? I'm assuming playing video is pretty easy on the iPhone. Is it reasonable to try both and have one available as a fallback, or would that be a waste of time? I'm trying to schedule this out a bit, so I'd love to hear real-world experiences from anyone who's done this.

  • IIS 7.5 can't access file from managed code

    - by Bob
    I am working on a project that is click-once deployed from an IIS 7.5 web server. After installing the parent application (i.e. setting up the IIS site) I am able to hit the url for the click-once app's config file from a remote box. HOWEVER, when I attempt to do the same thing from my app (and the stub app below), I get a 401 Unauthorized. What is the difference between hitting the URL from IE, and from a .NET app? The file and directory itself have full control granted to everyone on the webserver at the moment, and I am an admin on the box. We are using Windows Authentication with NTLM only. Thanks, -Bob Here is the stub app that produces the 401 - Unauthorized when on the doc.Load() line. I can hit the same URL successfully from IE and open the file... static void Main(string[] args) { Console.WriteLine("Config Test"); string filename = "http://dev-rs/myClient/myClickOnce/myApp.config.xml"; Console.WriteLine(filename); XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument(); doc.Load(filename); Console.WriteLine("Loaded"); Console.WriteLine("Inner Text : " + doc.InnerText); }

  • How to properly use references with variadic templates

    - by Hippicoder
    I have something like the following code: template<typename T1, typename T2, typename T3> void inc(T1& t1, T2& t2, T3& t3) { ++t1; ++t2; ++t3; } template<typename T1, typename T2> void inc(T1& t1, T2& t2) { ++t1; ++t2; } template<typename T1> void inc(T1& t1) { ++t1; } I'd like to reimplement it using the proposed variadic templates from the upcoming standard. However all the examples I've seen so far online seem to be printf like examples, the difference here seems to be the use of references. I've come up with the following: template<typename T> void inc(T&& t) { ++t; } template<typename T,typename ... Args> void inc(T&& t, Args&& ... args) { ++t inc(args...); } What I'd like to know is: Should I be using r-values instead of references? Possible hints or clues as to how to accomplish what I want correctly. What guarantees does the new proposed standard provide wrt the issue of the recursive function calls, is there some indication that the above variadic version will be as optimal as the original? (should I add inline or some-such?)

  • For the professional programmers - do you still write code for fun at home ? [closed]

    - by Led
    Possible Duplicate: Do you ever code just for fun? I've been working as a 'professional' coder for about 11 years. (I've just turned 33.) When I talk to my collegues, I find that most of them actually don't program any more in their spare time - 8 (or 10 :)) hours a day at their job is enough for them. A difference between me and them might be that I was always programming for fun (demoscene stuff etc.) which is why I got into the field, while most of them picked up programming later on (at university or whatever). When I get home my head is always full of ideas, so usually I have a hobby-project going on. Is it weird to spend 8 hours a day programming, and then get home, have dinner, and do some more ? For me the reasons are just - ideas : trying stuff - wanting to develop something all by myself, so when it's finished I can claim it as my own victory How about you ? And if you do, do you have other reasons to do so ? Edit: And if you've got sparetime projects, it might be fun to tell us a bit about it :) Spamming a link to your site/hobbyproject won't be frowned upon here ! Edit2: Vote for this if you want to encourage companies to make monitors that'll give you a nice tan ! ;-)

  • FileSystemWatcher does not fire when using C++ std::ofstream

    - by Adam Haile
    I'm trying to add a log monitor to an in-house test utility for a windows service I'm working on. The service is written in C++ (win32) and the utility is in .NET (C#) The log monitor works for many other C++ apps I've written, but not for my service. The only main difference I can see is that the other apps use the older ::WriteFile() to output to the log, whereas in the service I'm using std::ofstream like this: std::ofstream logFile; logFile.open("C:\\mylog.log"); logFile << "Hello World!" << std::endl; logFile.flush(); From my utility I use FileSystemWatcher like this: FileSystemWatcher fsw = new FileSystemWatcher(@"C:\", "mylog.log"); fsw.Changed += new FileSystemEventHandler(fsw_Handler); fsw.EnableRaisingEvents = true; But for the service, it never gets any change events as the log is updated. I've found that any example code using FileSystemWatcher I've come across online has the same exact issue as well... But, I know the events should be available because other log monitor apps (like BareTail) work fine with the service log file. I'd rather get the C# code for the utility to just work so it works with anything, but if I have to change the logging code for the service I will. Does anyone see what's going wrong here?

  • Button style in AlertDialogs

    - by Steve H
    Does anyone know how to override the default style for AlertDialog buttons? I've looked through the Android source for themes and styles and experimented with different things but I haven't been able to find a way that works. What I've got below works for changing the backgrounds, but doesn't do anything with the buttons. myTheme is applied to the whole <application> via the manifest. (Some other items were deleted for clarity, but they only relate to the title bar.) <style name="myTheme" parent="android:Theme"> <item name="android:buttonStyle">@style/customButtonStyle</item> <item name="android:alertDialogStyle">@style/dialogAlertTheme</item> </style> <style name="dialogAlertTheme" parent="@android:style/Theme.Dialog.Alert"> <item name="android:fullDark">@drawable/dialog_loading_background</item> <item name="android:topDark">@drawable/dialog_alert_top</item> <item name="android:centerDark">@drawable/dialog_alert_center</item> <item name="android:bottomDark">@drawable/dialog_alert_bottom</item> <!-- this last line makes no difference to the buttons --> <item name="android:buttonStyle">@style/customButtonStyle</item> </style> Any ideas?

  • ie7 preserve whitespace on dynamically injected text

    - by Rajat
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function init(){ document.getElementById('test2').innerHTML = '1 2'; } </script> <style type="text/css"> #test{ white-space:pre; } #test2{ white-space:pre; } </style> <title></title> </head> <body onload="init();"> <div id="test"> 1 2 </div> <div id="test2"></div> </body> </html> Here is an example page showing my problem. I have two divs. Each has this text '1 2' with white-space. The only difference is that one is injected dynamically and one is in the html itself. If you open the above page in IE7, the text in div test2 doesn't respect white space. How can i get the same behavior for the text that is dynamically injected?? P.S. My doctype is triggering standards mode on IE7.

  • Cocoa NSOutlineView and Drag-and-Drop

    - by bobthecoder
    I recently started another thread without an account, so I'm reposting the question here with an account so I can edit current links to the program so other users can follow this. I have also updated the code below. Here is my original question: I read the other post here on Outlineviews and DND, but I can't get my program to work. At the bottom of this post is a link to a zip of my project. Its very basic with only an outlineview and button. I want it to receive text files being dropped on it, but something is wrong with my code or connections. I tried following Apple's example code of their NSOutline Drag and Drop, but I'm missing something. 1 difference is my program is a document based program and their example isn't. I set the File's Owner to receive delegate actions, since that's where my code to handle drag and drop is, as well as a button action. Its probably a simple mistake, so could someone please look at it and tell me what I'm doing wrong? Here is a link to the file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7195844/OutlineDragDrop1.zip

  • Resetting a PChar variable

    - by scott-thornton
    Hi, I don't know much about delphi win 32 programming, but I hope someone can answer my question. I get duplicate l_sGetUniqueIdBuffer saved into the database which I want to avoid. The l_sGetUniqueIdBuffer is actually different ( the value of l_sAuthorisationContent is xml, and I can see a different value generated by the call to getUniqueId) between rows. This problem is intermittant ( duplicates are rare...) There is only milliseconds difference between the update date between the rows. Given: ( unnesseary code cut out) l_sGetUniqueIdBuffer: PChar; FOutputBufferSize : integer; FOutputBufferSize := 1024; while( not dmAccomClaim.ADOQuClaimIdentification.Eof ) do begin // Get a unique id for the request l_sGetUniqueIdBuffer := AllocMem (FOutputBufferSize); l_returnCode := getUniqueId (m_APISessionId^, l_sGetUniqueIdBuffer, FOutputBufferSize); dmAccomClaim.ADOQuAddContent.Active := False; dmAccomClaim.ADOQuAddContent.Parameters.ParamByName('pContent').Value := (WideString(l_sAuthorisationContent)); dmAccomClaim.ADOQuAddContent.Parameters.ParamByName('pClaimId').Value := dmAccomClaim.ADOQuClaimIdentification.FieldByName('SB_CLAIM_ID').AsString; dmAccomClaim.ADOQuAddContent.Parameters.ParamByName('pUniqueId').Value := string(l_sGetUniqueIdBuffer); dmAccomClaim.ADOQuAddContent.ExecSQL; FreeMem( l_sAuthorisationContent, l_iAuthoriseContentSize ); FreeMem( l_sGetUniqueIdBuffer, FOutputBufferSize ); end; I guess i need to know, is the value in l_sGetUniqueIdBuffer being reset for every row??

  • VB.net httpwebrequest For loop hangs every 10 or so iterations

    - by user574632
    Hello, I am trying to loop through an array and perform an httpwebrequest in each iteration. The code seems to work, however it pauses for a while (eg alot longer than the set timeout. Tried setting that to 100 to check and it still pauses) after every 10 or so iterations, then carries on working. Here is what i have so far: For i As Integer = 0 To numberOfProxies - 1 Try 'create request to a proxyJudge php page using proxy Dim request As HttpWebRequest = HttpWebRequest.Create("http://www.pr0.net/deny/azenv.php") request.Proxy = New Net.WebProxy(proxies(i)) 'select the current proxie from the proxies array request.Timeout = 10000 'set timeout Dim response As HttpWebResponse = request.GetResponse() Dim sr As StreamReader = New StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()) Dim pageSourceCode As String = sr.ReadToEnd() 'check the downloaded source for certain phrases, each identifies a type of proxy 'HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR identifies a transparent proxy If pageSourceCode.Contains("HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR") Then 'delegate method for cross thread safe UpdateListbox(ListBox3, proxies(i)) ElseIf pageSourceCode.Contains("HTTP_VIA") Then UpdateListbox(ListBox2, proxies(i)) Else UpdateListbox(ListBox1, proxies(i)) End If Catch ex As Exception 'MessageBox.Show(ex.ToString) used in testing UpdateListbox(ListBox4, proxies(i)) End Try completedProxyCheck += 1 lblTotalProxiesChecked.CustomInvoke(Sub(l) l.Text = completedProxyCheck) Next I have searched all over this site and via google, and most responses to this type of question say the response must be closed. I have tried a using block, eg: Using response As HttpWebResponse = request.GetResponse() Using sr As StreamReader = New StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()) Dim pageSourceCode As String = sr.ReadToEnd() 'check the downloaded source for certain phrases, each identifies a type of proxy 'HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR identifies a transparent proxy If pageSourceCode.Contains("HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR") Then 'delegate method for cross thread safe UpdateListbox(ListBox3, proxies(i)) ElseIf pageSourceCode.Contains("HTTP_VIA") Then UpdateListbox(ListBox2, proxies(i)) Else UpdateListbox(ListBox1, proxies(i)) End If End Using End Using And it makes no difference (though i may have implemented it wrong) As you can tell im very new to VB or any OOP so its probably a simple problem but i cant work it out. Any suggestions or just tips on how to diagnose these types of problems would be really appreciated.

  • categorize a set of phrases into a set of similar phrases

    - by Dingo
    I have a few apps that generate textual tracing information (logs) to log files. The tracing information is the typical printf() style - i.e. there are a lot of log entries that are similar (same format argument to printf), but differ where the format string had parameters. What would be an algorithm (url, books, articles, ...) that will allow me to analyze the log entries and categorize them into several bins/containers, where each bin has one associated format? Essentially, what I would like is to transform the raw log entries into (formatA, arg0 ... argN) instances, where formatA is shared among many log entries. The formatA does not have to be the exact format used to generate the entry (even more so if this makes the algo simpler). Most of the literature and web-info I found deals with exact matching, a max substring matching, or a k-difference (with k known/fixed ahead of time). Also, it focuses on matching a pair of (long) strings, or a single bin output (one match among all input). My case is somewhat different, since I have to discover what represents a (good-enough) match (generally a sequence of discontinuous strings), and then categorize each input entries to one of the discovered matches. Lastly, I'm not looking for a perfect algorithm, but something simple/easy to maintain. Thanks!

  • Uncaught exception while using xdebug

    - by rich97
    I'm not too great with xdebug so forgive me if this is a stupid question. But I installed it on a separate machine and it performed some magic for me like formating my var_dump() output and catching any uncaught exceptions. It also fails to format the stack traces, outputting plain text which is extremely hard to read. As I am learning the Lithium PHP Framework I am required to use php5.3, on my other machine I compiled from the source but on this machine I'm using the precompiled packages from dotdeb.org. As far as I can tell the only difference is that this is a slightly newer version of php and it comes with the Suhosin patch. The other odd thing is that the xdebug functions such as xdebug_var_dump() work, aside from poor formatting. This is an Ubuntu machine, so I don't know if it could be anything to do with the dotdep packages, but I have installed xdebug through pecl, the downloadable tarball and from the SVN repository. But to no avail. You can see my php.ini and output of php -i in the following gist. I copied php.ini from /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini over to /etc/php5/cli/php.ini so php -i should reflect my apache setup. http://gist.github.com/391675 Any help is appreciated. Rich

  • The best way to build iPhone/iPad static libraries?

    - by Derek Clarkson
    Hi everyone, I have a couple of static Phone/iPad libraries I an working on. The problem I am looking for advise on is the best way to package the libraries. My objective is to make it easy to use the libraries in other projects and include the correct one in a build with minimal problems. To make it more interesting I currently build 4 versions of each library as follows armv6/armv7 release (devices) i386 release (simulator) armv6/armv7 debug (devices) i386 debug (simulator) The difference between the release and debug versions is that the debug versions contain a lot of NSLog(...) code which enables people to see whats going on internally as an aid to debugging. Currently when I build the whole projects I arrange the libraries into two directories like this: release lib-device.a lib-simulator.a debug lib-device.a lib-simulator.a This works ok except that when include in projects, both paths are added to the library search path and switching a target from one to the other is a pain. Or alternatively I end up with two targets. The alternative I am thinking of is to change the directories like this: release device lib.a simulator lib.a debug device lib.a simulator lib.a In playing with XCode is appears that all xcode uses the lbrary references of a project for is to get the name of the library file, which it then looks up in the library paths. Thus by parameterising the library path with the current built type and target device, I can effectively auto switch. What do you guys think? Is there a better way to do this? ciao Derek

    Might be that it is too late, but I find it at least curious that the following few lines seem to be causing a segmentation fault if and only when compiled with gcc's optimization, even "-O1"! settings_dialog = gtk_dialog_new_with_buttons("gatotray Settings" , NULL, 0, GTK_STOCK_CANCEL, FALSE, GTK_STOCK_SAVE, TRUE, 0); g_signal_connect(G_OBJECT(settings_dialog), "response", G_CALLBACK(gtk_widget_destroy), NULL); g_signal_connect(G_OBJECT(settings_dialog), "destroy", G_CALLBACK(settings_destroyed), NULL); GtkWidget *vb = gtk_dialog_get_content_area(GTK_DIALOG(settings_dialog)); GtkWidget *hb = gtk_hbox_new(FALSE, 3); gtk_container_add(GTK_CONTAINER(hb), gtk_label_new("Background:")); GtkWidget *cb = gtk_color_button_new(); gtk_container_add(GTK_CONTAINER(hb), cb); gtk_container_add(GTK_CONTAINER(vb), hb); This is the backtrace: (gdb) backtrace #0 0x00007ffff4d88052 in ?? () from /lib/libc.so.6 #1 0x00007ffff5304112 in g_strdup () from /lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 #2 0x00007ffff5bc799d in ?? Versions: gcc: 4.4.3 GTK+: 2.20.1 BTW, forgot to mention that commenting out certain lines after the conflictive call prevents it from happening. Particularly the line with "gtk_container_add(GTK_CONTAINER(hb), cb);" I tried almost all suitable combinations of GtkTypes/GTK_MACROS, it makes no difference.

  • can't increment Glib::ustring::iterator (getting "invalid lvalue in increment" compiler error)

    - by davka
    in the following code: int utf8len(char* s, int len) { Glib::ustring::iterator p( string::iterator(s) ); Glib::ustring::iterator e ( string::iterator(s+len) ); int i=0; for (; p != e; p++) // ERROR HERE! i++; return i; } I get the compiler error on the for line, which is sometimes "invalid lvalue in increment", and sometimes "ISO C++ forbids incrementing a pointer of type etc... ". Yet, the follwing code: int utf8len(char* s) { Glib::ustring us(s); int i=0; for (Glib::ustring::iterator p = us.begin(); p != us.end(); p++) i++; return i; } compiles and works fine. according the Glib::ustring documentation and the include file, ustring iterator can be constructed from std::string iterator, and has operator++() defined. Weird? BONUS QUESTION :) Is there a difference in C++ between the 2 ways of defining a variable: classname ob1( initval ); classname ob1 = initval; I believed that they are synonymous; yet, if I change Glib::ustring::iterator p( string::iterator(s) ); to Glib::ustring::iterator p = string::iterator(s); I get a compiler error (gcc 4.1.2) conversion from ‘__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator, std::allocator ’ to non-scalar type ‘Glib::ustring_Iterator<__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator, std::allocator ’ requesed thanks a lot!

  • When do you tag your software project?

    - by WilhelmTell of Purple-Magenta
    I realize there are various kinds of software projects: commercial (for John Doe) industrial (for Mr. Montgomery Burns) successful open-source (with audience larger than, say, 10 people) personal projects (with audience size in the vicinity of 1). each of which release a new version of their product on difference conditions. I'm particularly interested in the case of personal projects and open-source projects. When, or under what conditions, do you make a new release of any kind? Do you subscribe to a fixed recurring deadline such as every two weeks? Do you commit to a release of at least 10 minor fixes, or one major fix? Do you combine the two conditions such as at least one condition must hold, or both must hold? I reckon this is a subjective question. I ask this question in light of searching for tricks to keep my projects alive and kicking. Sometimes my projects are active but look as if they aren't because I don't have the confidence to make a release or a tag of any sort for a long time -- in the order of months.

  • Mono doesn't write settings defaults

    - by Petar Minchev
    Hi guys! Here is my problem. If I use only one Windows Forms project and call only - Settings.Default.Save() when running it, Mono creates a user.config file with the default value for each setting. It is fine, so far so good. But now I add a class library project, which is referenced from the Windows Forms project and I move the settings from the Windows Forms project to the Class Library one. Now I do the same - Settings.Default.Save() and to my great surprise, Mono creates a user.config file with EMPTY values(NOT the default ones) for each setting?! What's the difference between having the settings in the Windows Forms Project or in the class library one? And by the way it is not a operating system issue. It is a Mono issue, because it doesn't work both under Windows and Linux. If I don't use Mono everything is fine, but I have to port my application to Linux, so I have to use Mono. I am really frustrated, it is blocking a project:( Thanks in advance for any suggestion you have. Regards, Petar

  • Vertical crosshair reposition on Google Map after map resize Issue

    - by joe
    I use the following function to add a crosshair to my Google Map. It works great for horizontal resizing. I can not figure out how to make it work for vertical. After resizing the map it requires the user to either zoom in or out 1 layer, upon which the crosshair snaps to center. var crosshairsSize=17; GMap2.prototype.addCrosshairs=function(){ var container=this.getContainer(); if(this.crosshairs){$(this.crosshairs).remove();} var crosshairs=document.createElement("img"); crosshairs.src='../images/crosshair2.gif'; crosshairs.style.width=crosshairsSize+'px'; crosshairs.style.height=crosshairsSize+'px'; crosshairs.style.border='0'; crosshairs.style.position='relative'; crosshairs.style.top=((parseInt(container.clientHeight)-crosshairsSize)/2)+'px'; crosshairs.style.left="0px"; // The map is centered so 0 will do crosshairs.style.zIndex='500'; container.appendChild(crosshairs); this.crosshairs=crosshairs; return crosshairs;}; I use map.checkResize(); and the map is correct, it's just the crosshair that is off. I've tried firing a javascript zoom in one level but it doesn't work like zooming in with the mouse. It's only zooming in/out with the mouse scroll wheel too... clicking and dragging the zoom slider doesn't work so somehow it's liking the mouse scroll wheel. Firing addCrosshairs(); after resize makes no difference. It places the new crosshair in old spot and still requires a mouse scroll zoom.

  • JQuery - Make my script work?

    - by JasonS
    Hi, I have written a script. It does work! It's just a bit rubbish. Could someone tell me where I am going wrong. Basically, I have a 5 star rating box. When the mouse hovers over the various parts of the box I need the stars to change. Currently the stars only change when you move your mouse over and out of the element. I need the stars to change while the mouses within the element. I think the problem is with the event but I have tried a couple and it seems to make no difference. $(".rating").mouseover(function(e) { // Get Element Position var position = $(this).position(); var left = position.left; // Get mouse position var mouseLeft = e.pageX; // Get Actual var actLeft = mouseLeft - left; $(".info").html(actLeft); if (actLeft < 20) { $(this).attr('style', 'background-position:0;'); } else if (actLeft < 40) { $(this).attr('style', 'background-position:0 -20px;'); } else if (actLeft < 60) { $(this).attr('style', 'background-position:0 -40px;'); } else if (actLeft < 80) { $(this).attr('style', 'background-position:0 -60px;'); } else { $(this).attr('style', 'background-position:0 -80px;'); } });
