  In Oracle Applications it is possible to configure iSupplier to link to an Oracle iSurvey, and for the Oracle iSurvey to be executed for a Supplier. This integration requires: An Oracle Script An Oracle iSurvey linked to the Oracle Script iSupplier Configuration to reference the iSurvey. Once set up, the iSurvey will be available from the supplier tab from the Purchasing Responsibilities and from the iSupplier Portal.  Responses to the survey can be viewed from the Survey Administrator Responsibility.   Oracle Multitenant ist eine neue Datenbank-Architektur, die seit Oracle Database Version 12c zur Verfügung steht. Konsolidierungen, schnelles und vereinfachtes Patchen, Provisionieren und Klonen einer Umgebung sind nur einige Vorteile, die sich aus diesem neuen Konzept ergeben können. • Best Graphics card (Setup) for three, high-res monitors attached to desktop

  I have been looking around a little bit, but most of the discussions are about problems with already existing systems (particular graphics card and setup etc.). I would like to ask what would be the best option for me if I want to build powerful desktop with triple monitor setup. I have one Dell UltraSharp U2713HM (27 inches, 2560x1440) and I was thinking about getting two more. Would it be possible to have those three working with ubuntu (kubuntu) on any graphics card out there today? What is the best option if it comes to choosing particular model? Should I use proprietary drivers or some open sourced ones? I am not a gamer. I mostly develop on my machines and running some computational tasks, but I would rather like to spend some more money and have setup where I don't see any lags :) thank You very much in advance! • Best Way to Handle Meta Information in a SQL Database

  I've got a database where I want to store user information and user_meta information. The reason behind setting it up in this way was because the user_meta side may change over time and I would like to do this without disrupting the master user table. If possible, I would like some advice on how to best set up this meta data table. I can either set it as below: +----+---------+----------+--------------------+ | id | user_id | key | value | +----+---------+----------+--------------------+ | 1 | 1 | email | [email protected] | | 2 | 1 | name | user name | | 3 | 1 | address | test address | ... Or, I can set it as below: +----+---------+--------------------+--------------------+--------------+ | id | user_id | email | name | address | +----+---------+--------------------+--------------------+--------------+ | 1 | 1 | [email protected] | user name | test address | Obviously, the top verison is more flexible, but the bottom version is space saving and perhaps more efficient, returning all the data as a single record. Which is the best way to go about this? Or, am I going about this completely wrong and there's another way I've not thought of?

• Why shouldn't I be using public variables in my Java class?

  In school, I've been told many times to stop using public for my variables. I haven't asked why yet. This question: Are Java's public fields just a tragic historical design flaw at this point? seems kinda related to this. However, they don't seem to discuss why is it "wrong", but instead focus on how can they use them instead. Look at this (unfinished) class: public class Reporte { public String rutaOriginal; public String rutaNueva; public int bytesOriginales; public int bytesFinales; public float ganancia; /** * Constructor para objetos de la clase Reporte */ public Reporte() { } } No need to understand Spanish. All this class does is hold some statistics (those public fields) and then do some operations with them (later). I will also need to be modifying those variables often. But well, since I've been told not to use public, this is what I ended up doing: public class Reporte { private String rutaOriginal; private String rutaNueva; private int bytesOriginales; private int bytesFinales; private float ganancia; /** * Constructor para objetos de la clase Reporte */ public Reporte() { } public String getRutaOriginal() { return rutaOriginal; } public String getRutaNueva() { return rutaNueva; } public int getBytesOriginales() { return bytesOriginales; } public int getBytesFinales() { return bytesFinales; } public float getGanancia() { return ganancia; } public void setRutaOriginal(String rutaOriginal) { this.rutaOriginal = rutaOriginal; } public void setRutaNueva(String rutaNueva) { this.rutaNueva = rutaNueva; } public void setBytesOriginales(int bytesOriginales) { this.bytesOriginales = bytesOriginales; } public void setBytesFinales(int bytesFinales) { this.bytesFinales = bytesFinales; } public void setGanancia(float ganancia) { this.ganancia = ganancia; } } Looks kinda pretty. Google searches about "When to use public in Java" and "Why shouldn't I use public in Java" seem to discuss about a concept of mutability, although I'm not really sure how to interpret such discussions. I do want my class to be mutable - all the time.

• Trying to implement pre/post method code: better to use methods or a parent class?

  I'm finding it difficult to frame this question so ... I want to execute code both before and after a method runs in PHP. There are, as far as I know, two ways to implement this: Method One: pre and post methods class Model { function find($id) { $this->_precode(); // ... do stuff $this->post_code(); } } Add the calls to _precode() and _postcode() to each method where I need this functionality. Method Two: __call and method naming class Model extends PrePost { function prepost_find($id) { // ... do stuff ... } } class PrePost { function __call($method,$param) { $method = "prepost_$method"; // .. precode here .. $result = $this->$method($param); // .. postcode here .. } } This relies on naming a method in a specific way in the inheriting class. Is there a preferred way of doing this? The call method can be made to only handle its specific cases and even defer to a child class's call if there is one. I'm not looking for opinions; I'm looking to find out if there are valid reasons to choose one way over another.

• Are there some general Network programming best practices?

  I am implementing some networking stuff in our project. It has been decided that the communication is very important and we want to do it synchronously. So the client sends something the server acknowledges. Are there some general best practices for the interaction between the client and the server. For instance if there isn't an answer from the server should the client automatically retry? Should there be a timeout period before it retries? What happens if the acknowledgement fails? At what point do we break the connection and reconnect? Is there some material? I have done searches but nothing is really coming up. I am looking for best practices in general. I am implementing this in c# (probably with sockets) so if there is anything .Net specific then please let me know too.
