  • Getting list of states/events from a model that AASM's

    - by Jason Nerer
Hi, I successfully integrated the most recent AASM gem into an application, using it for the creation of a wizard. In my case I have a model order class Order < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user has_one :billing_plan, :dependent => :destroy named_scope :with_user, ..... <snip> include AASM aasm_column :aasm_state aasm_initial_state :unauthenticated_user aasm_state :unauthenticated_user, :after_exit => [:set_state_completed] aasm_state : <snip> <and following the event definitions> end Now I would like to give an administrator the possibility to create his own graphs through the AASM states. Therefore I created two additional models called OrderFlow and Transition where there order_flow has many transitions and order belongs_to order_flow. No problem so far. Now I would like to give my admin the possibility to dynamically add existing transitions / events to an order_flow graph. The problem now is, that I do not find any possibility to get a list of all events / transitions out of my order model. aasm_states_for_select seems to be the correct candidate, but I cannot call it on my order model. Can anyone help? Thx in advance. J.

  • Binding KeyUp event to Input Field

    - by user306686
    I am dynamically generating textboxes in ruby using <%0.upto(4) do |i| % <%= text_field_tag('relative_factor[]', @prefill_values[:relative_factor][i],:size = 6,:maxlength = 5) % <%end% it generates following HTML markup Another set of textboxes: <%0.upto(4) do |i| % <%= text_field_tag('rating_factor[]', @prefill_values[:relative_factor][i],:size = 6,:maxlength = 5) % <%end% it generates following HTML markup I have one more textbox: ..... I want to update id="rating_factor_" textboxes as the value in either id="multiple" textbox changes or id="relative_factor_" textboxes changes. E.g. id="multiple" textbox = 5 id="relative_factor_" value= 0.0 textbox = 1 id="relative_factor_" value= 1.0 textbox = 2 id="relative_factor_" value= 2.0 textbox = 3 id="relative_factor_" value= 3.0 textbox = 4 id="relative_factor_" value= 4.0 textbox = 5 I want to show (multiple multiple and relative_factor_ and show) id="rating_factor_" value= 0.0 textbox = 5 id="rating_factor_" value= 1.0 textbox = 10 id="rating_factor_" value= 2.0 textbox = 15 id="rating_factor_" value= 3.0 textbox = 20 id="rating_factor_" value= 4.0 textbox = 25 Now if user changes, id="relative_factor_" value= 1.0 textbox as 1.5 then id="rating_factor_" value= 1.0 textbox should be updated as 7.5 To achieve above goal, I tried binding #relative_factor_ to keyup event but as id is same for all i.e.#relative_factor_, it returns value for first textbox i.e. id="relative_factor_" value= 0.0. Please guide me to crack this problem. Thanks in Advance.

  • Need to reload current_cart to get the test passed

    - by leomayleomay
I'm testing my online store app with RSpec, here's what I'm doing: # spec/controllers/line_items_controller_spec.rb require 'spec_helper' describe LineItemsController do describe "POST 'create'" do before do @current_cart = Factory(:cart) controller.stub!(:current_cart).and_return(@current_cart) end it 'should merge two same line_items into one' do @product = Factory(:product, :name => "Tee") post 'create', {:product_id => @product.id} post 'create', {:product_id => @product.id} assert LineItem.count.should == 1 assert LineItem.first.quantity.should == 2 end end end # app/controllers/line_items_controller.rb class LineItemsController < ApplicationController def create current_cart.line_items.each do |line_item| if line_item.product_id == params[:product_id] line_item.quantity += 1 if line_item.save render :text => "success" else render :text => "failed" end return end end @line_item = current_cart.line_items.new(:product_id => params[:product_id]) if @line_item.save render :text => "success" else render :text => "failed" end end end The problem right now is it never added up two line_items having the same product into one, because the second time I entered into the line_items_controller#create, the current_cart.line_items is [], I have run current_cart.reload to get the test passed, any idea what's going wrong?

  • Is it possible to do have Capistrano do a checkout over a reverse SSH tunnel?

    - by James A. Rosen
I am developing an application that resides on a public host but whose source I must keep in a Git repository behind a corporate firewall. I'm getting very tired of the slowness of deploying via scp (copying the whole repository and shipping it over SSH on each deploy) and would like to have the remote host simply do a git pull to update. The problem is that the firewall prohibits incoming SSH connections. Would it be possible for me to set up an SSH tunnel from my computer to the deployment computer and use my repository as the source for the git pull? After all, git is distributed, so my copy is just as valid a repository as the central one. If this is possible, what would the tunnel command and the Capistrano configuration be? I think the tunnel will look something like ssh -R something:deployserver.com:something [email protected]

  • Is there a method I can use across controllers and if so, how do I use it?

    - by Angela
I have several controllers that take an instance of different classes each (Email, Call, Letter, etc) and they all have to go through this same substitution: @email.message.gsub!("{FirstName}", @contact.first_name) @email.message.gsub!("{Company}", @contact.company_name) @email.message.gsub!("{Colleagues}", @colleagues.to_sentence) @email.message.gsub!("{NextWeek}", (Date.today + 7.days).strftime("%A, %B %d")) @email.message.gsub!("{ContactTitle}", @contact.title ) So, for example, @call.message for Call, @letter.message for Letter, etcetera. This isn't very dry. I'd like to have something like def messagesub(asset) @asset.message.gsub.... end or something like that so I can just use messagesub method in each controller.

  • should_receive in RSpec

    - by gmile
As far as I know, should_receive is applied only to mock objects. What I want is to check, if a certain Class (not object) received a certain message, like: User.should_receive(:all).once How do I do that?

  • Ruby: Dynamically calling available methods raising undefined method (metaprogramming)

    - by user94154
I have an Activerecord object called Foo: Foo.attribute_names.each do |attribute| puts Foo.find(:all)[0].method(attribute.to_sym).call end Here I'm calling all attributes on this model (ie, querying for each column value). However, sometimes, I'll get an undefined method error. How can ActiveRecord::Base#attribute_names return an attribute name that when converted into its own method call, raises an undefined method error? Thank

  • Breakdown of this Ruby code?

    - by randombits
Would anyone be kind enough to dissect the merge! method? Its usage of conditions and variable assignment looks rather terse, and I'm having a difficult time following it. Would love to hear a Ruby-savvy developer break this apart. module ActiveRecord class Errors def merge!(errors, options={}) fields_to_merge = if only=options[:only] only elsif except=options[:except] except = [except] unless except.is_a?(Array) except.map!(&:to_sym) errors.entries.map(&:first).select do |field| !except.include?(field.to_sym) end else errors.entries.map(&:first) end fields_to_merge = [fields_to_merge] unless fields_to_merge.is_a?(Array) fields_to_merge.map!(&:to_sym) errors.entries.each do |field, msg| add field, msg if fields_to_merge.include?(field.to_sym) end end end end

  • Mongoid Embeds_many won't save on nested form

    - by Brandon J McKay
I've got an embeds_many association I'm trying to set up which I've done successfully before, but I'm trying to do it all in one nested form and I can't figure it out. Let's say we have a pocket model: class Pocket include Mongoid::Document field :title, type: String embeds_many :coins, cascade_callbacks: true end and a Coin Model: class Coin include Mongoid::Document field :name, type: String embedded_in :pocket end in my form for the pocket, I'm using: = f.fields_for @pocket.coins do |coin| = coin.text_field :name My controller is the default scaffolded controller. When I use the console, it saves fine and I can see the new pocket and coin I've created. But when I try to create or update a coin from the form, the pocket saves but the coin remains unchanged. What am I missing here?

  • Position of object in database

    - by fl00r
Hi! I have got model Team and I've got (i.e.) team = Team.first :offset => 20. Now I need to get number of position of my team in db table. I can do it in ruby: Team.all.index team #=> 20 But I am sure that I can write it on SQL and it will be less expensive for me with big tables.

  • has_one update problem

    - by Kalyan M
I have two models, User and Account. Each user may have one account. Creating an account for a user works fine. My problem is that when I try to update the account, the previous accounts user_id is nullified and a new account row is created with the user_id. I do not want this happening. I want to update the existing row with the changes to account. How do I do this? Thanks.

  • Retrieving all objects in code upfront for performance reasons

    - by ming yeow
    How do you folks retrieve all objects in code upfront? I figure you can increase performance if you bundle all the model calls together? This makes for a bigger deal, especially if your DB cannot keep everything in memory def hitDBSeperately { get X users ...code get Y users... code get Z users... code } Versus: def hitDBInSingleCall { get X+Y+Z users code for X code for Y... }

I don't know why this is not working with only Competitor model.

  • habtm multiple times with the same model

    - by Ermin
I am trying to model a publications. A publication can have multiple authors and editors. Since it is possible that one person is an author of one publication and an editor of another, no separate models for Authors and Editors: class Publication < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :authors, :class_name=>'Person' has_and_belongs_to_many :editors, :class_name=>'Person' end The above code doesn't work, because it uses the same join table. Now I now that I can specify the name of the join table, but there is a warning in the API documentation is a warning about that which I don't understand: :join_table: Specify the name of the join table if the default based on lexical order isn’t what you want. WARNING: If you’re overwriting the table name of either class, the table_name method MUST be declared underneath any has_and_belongs_to_many declaration in order to work.

  • How to search in this activerecord example?

    - by Horace Ho
Two models: Invoice :invoice_num string :date datetime . . :disclaimer_num integer (foreign key) Disclaimer :disclaimer_num integer :version integer :body text For each disclaimer there are multiple versions and will be kept in database. This is how I write the search (simplified): scope = Invoice.scoped({ :joins => [:disclaimer] }) scope = scope.scoped :conditions => ["Invoice.invoice_num = ?", "#{params[:num]}"] scope = scope.scoped :conditions => ["Disclaimer.body LIKE ?", "%#{params[:text]}%"] However, the above search will search again all versions of the disclaimer. How can I limit the search to only the last disclaimer (i.e. the version integer is the maximum). Please note: Invoice does not keep the version number. New disclaimers will be added to disclaimer table and keep old versions.

  • disabling transactional fixtures in Rspec has no effect

    - by Dia
Due to a legacy database I'm using, I'm stuck with MySQL using MyISAM, which means my tables don't support transactions. This is causing the tests to fail, since table data generated (I'm using factory_girl for fixtures) by the tests are not reverted for each scenario. I discovered that Rspec exposes the config.use_transactional_fixtures config setting in spec_helper.rb. which is set to true by default. When I set it to false, I don't see any effect on my tests; they still fail due to duplicate records. Isn't that setting supposed to automatically unroll any changes made to the DB? Or am I supposed to do that manually?

  • Using redirect_to to :create action

    - by ajmurmann
I am trying to redirect to the create method of another controller. However, I can't find a way to set the method to POST. This results in the index method to be called. Using :method => :post just creates a new parameter, but doesn't change the http method. Any ideas how to redirect to the create method?
