  For coverage, I've a set of run time variables of from my program execution. It happens that I get it from a series of executions(Automated testing). ie. its a vector<vector<var,value>> I've a limited set of variables with expected values and generate combination s, that is I have vector<vector<var,value>(smaller than the execution vector)>. Now I need to compare and tell which of the combination I generated were exactly executed in one of the tests. My algo is O(n^4). Is there any way to bring it down. Something like set intersection. I'm using java, and vectors because of thread safety.

• Why doesn't IronRuby have the same tools that IronPython does?

  Hi, I've been using Ruby as my main scripting language for years but switched to .NET several years ago. I'd like to continue using Ruby (primarily for testing) BUT the toolset for IronRuby is really nonexistent. Why? In Python, meanwhile, there are project templates and full intellisense support. Why isn't there something like that for IronRuby? The only thing I've been able to find on it is "there are no plans for VS integration at this time." Why???

• "Access is denied" error on accessing iframe document object

  For posting AJAX forms in a form with many parameters, I am using a solution of creating an iframe, posting the form to it by POST, and then accessing the iframe's content. specifically, I am accessing the content like this: $("some_iframe_id").get(0).contentWindow.document I tested it and it worked. On some of the pages, I started getting an "Access is denied" error. As far as I know, this shouldn't happen if the iframe is served from the same domain. I'm pretty sure it was working before. Anybody have a clue? If I'm not being clear enough: I'm posting to the same domain. So this is not a cross-domain request. I am testing on IE only. P.S. I can't use simple ajax POST queries (don't ask...)

• Install APK on ICS through Eclipse

  I rooted my Incredible and flashed an ICS rom, and I can't seem to install an app through Eclipse for testing (or by manually pushing it through adb). I know I have to change the permissions of /data/local to write and execute others in order to allow APKs to be installed, but when I adb shell into my phone and call chmod o=wx /data/local I get a message saying Bad mode. What does this mean and how do I fix it? Thanks! EDIT: According to this question I need to change the permissions of /data/local in order for this to work; I'm receiving the same errors as the OP of that question.

• Find out 20th, 30th, nth prime number. (I'm getting 20th but not 30th?) [Python]

  The question is to find the 1000th prime number. I wrote the following python code for this. The problem is, I get the right answer for the 10th , 20th prime but after that each increment of 10 leaves me one off the mark. I can't catch the bug here :( count=1 #to keep count of prime numbers primes=() #tuple to hold primes candidate=3 #variable to test for primes while count<20: for x in range(2,candidate): if candidate%x==0: candidate=candidate+2 else : pass primes=primes+(candidate,) candidate=candidate+2 count=count+1 print primes print "20th prime is ", primes[-1] In case you're wondering, count is initialised as 1 because I am not testing for 2 as a prime number(I'm starting from 3) and candidate is being incremented by 2 because only odd numbers can be prime numbers. I know there are other ways of solving this problem, such as the prime number theorem but I wanna know what's wrong with this approach. Also if there are any optimisations you have in mind, please suggest. Thank You

In more detail, I am interested in using Mono from project start on a Linux host developing in C# using Visual Studio for development, ideally with remote debugging if that is realistic developing web-services in MONO accessible in a RESTful manner, returning JSON hiding the services processes behind an Apache access the services either via javascript/AJAX or from a thin script layer written in PHP scalability is important for me unit-testing of webservices Any recommendations for material I could sift through to get a good head-start? I might add that I'm C#/.NET savvy, but not in the context of web development. I've been using it since it came out, but mainly for internal server-client applications where the clients were Windows desktop apps and the communication layer was remoting or, sometimes, more low-level socket-based.   If I specify a system property multiple times when invoking the JVM which value will I actually get when I retrieve the property? e.g. java -Dprop=A -Dprop=B -jar my.jar What will be the result when I call System.getProperty("prop");? The Java documentation on this does not really tell me anything useful on this front. In my non-scientific testing on a couple of machines running different JVMs it seems like the last value is the one returned (which is actually the behavior I need) but I wondered if this behavior is actually defined officially anywhere or can it vary between JVMs?

  So according to my testing, If you have something like: Module modA = new AbstractModule() { public void configure() { bind(A.class).to(AImpl.class); bind(C.class).to(ACImpl.class); bind(E.class).to(EImpl.class); } } Module modB = New AbstractModule() { public void configure() { bind(A.class).to(C.class); bind(D.class).to(DImpl.class); } } Guice.createInjector(Modules.overrides(modA, modB)); // gives me binding for A, C, E AND D with A overridden to A->C. But what if you want to remove the binding for E in modB? I can't seem to find a way to do this without having to break the bind for E into a separate module. Is there a way?

• When opening a file in perl, how can I automatically use STDIN/OUT if the file name is "-"?

  I have a perl program that takes input and output file arguments, and I'd like to support the convention of using "-" to specify standard input/output. The problem is that I can't just open the file name, because open(my $input, '<', '-') opens a file called -, not standard input. So I have to do something like this: my $input_fh; if ($input_filename eq '-') { # Special case: get the stdin handle $input_fh = *STDIN{IO}; } else { # Standard case: open the file open($input_fh, '<', $input_filename); } And similarly for the output file. Is there any way to do this without testing for the special case myself? I know I could hack the ARGV filehandle to do this for input, but that won't work for output.

• How to test silverlight behaviors using Rhino Mocks?

I need to know how to go about testing this with Rhino Mocks e.g. how to instantiate a new ControlMediaElementAction in test code and then call the Invoke method etc. Doing something simple like this in test code: mMediaElementControlBehaviour = new ControlMediaElementAction (); gives me an exception "The type initializer for 'System.Windows.DependencyObject' throw an exception. Thinking it was the instantiation of the MediaElement, I tried this two lines of code: MediaElement mediaElementStub = MockRepository.GenerateStub(); this.Container.RegisterInstance(mediaElementStub); This gave the exception 'Can't create mocks of sealed classes' If someone can point me in the right direction, it would be apreciated. • Selecting pictures with Jquery and Javascript

• iphone Memory gets freed in debug mode but not in release mode

  I have been testing my iPhone debug build on both my device and simulator with activity monitor, leaks, and object allocations. The code is pretty well optimized so I have decided to test the release build. I went into the project Menu and set the target build to be release, I then added the necessary header paths that my app is using to the headers search paths and ran the release build on the device with the above mentioned instruments. What I have noticed now is that memory that was freed when I used the debug build does not get freed when using release version. There is one place in my App that I remove a scroll view with some images which frees up a significant amount of memory when I use the debug build, but no memory is freed up in that place when I use the release version. Does someone have any ideas where I need to start looking at? did I setup my release build wrong?

  I'm looking for some sample database data that I can use for testing and demonstrating a DB tool I am working on. I need a DB that has (preferably) many tables, and many foreign key relationships between the tables. Ideally the data would be in SQL dump format, or at least in something that maintains the foreign key references, and could be easily import into an RDBMS (MySQL or H2). The dataset itself doesn't have to be huge (in fact, best if it's not). I thought about using the Stackoverflow Data Dump, but it's only about 5 tables.

  If I handle the PreviewMouseDown event on TreeViewItem, I get events for everything I click on that TreeViewItem include the little +/- box to the left (Windows XP). How can I distinguish that? • Test iPhone In App Purchase without uploading binary (i.e. without bundle ID)

  I've created a new app but not uploaded a binary (not ready for review yet). However, I want to test in-app purchases. The documentation seems to state that a bundle ID is required to create an in-app purchase product. Is there any way to specify this bundle ID for creating the in-app purchase product on iTunes Connect without uploading the app binary in a way that won't cause problems when the actual binary is uploaded? What if the eventually uploaded binary has a different bundleID than the use created for testing - does it effectively invalidate the in-app purchase product?

  I am having an issue with OSMF. I have an MP4 that is 40MB. It is being progressively loaded. My issue is the video wont begin playing until the video has fully loaded. I am testing this on a web server. • Android bluetooth socket error

  I am using backport bluetooth api on android 1.6. I am using Google Bluetooth Chat sample app for testing. The app works fine in normal scenarios. In a scenario, when I try to connect to paired device which is in off state, I get following error. 01-04 09:00:11.629: ERROR/BluetoothEventLoop.cpp(84): onGetRemoteServiceChannelResult: D-Bus error: org.bluez.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed (Host is down) 01-04 09:00:11.729: DEBUG/dalvikvm(128): GC freed 4535 objects / 256008 bytes in 296ms 01-04 09:00:21.880: ERROR/bluetooth_RfcommSocket.cpp(1433): connect error: Host is down (112) But it sets the state as connected. The app is unable to catch the exception. Why does it happen? Or is it the case with backport api? Any help is appreciated as I am struggling a lot to get things run fine.

  In Visual Studio 2008 (and others) when creating a .NET or silverlight application if you look at your project properties, it seems like you can only have one assembly name - across all configurations. I would like to compile my application as: MyAppDebug - in debug mode and just MyApp - in release mode Does anyone know if this is possible? Edit: It seems some people are questioning the reasoning behind the question, so I'll explain a little further: I'm working on a Silverlight application which gets automatically uploaded to our test site when I to a "build solution". The trouble is, the test team are now testing the online version, whilst I work on a new one. So, I want to have a url like .\MyApp.html for the regular version that the QA team will test and then .\MyApp.html?version=debug for the current version that I'm working on.

• Amazon S3 collisions with heroku and paperclip

  I have an app on my localhost for development and an app for testing on heroku. Image upload with localhost and paperclip always works. However, doing the same experiment with image upload on my heroku app, the app hangs... and the upload seems to be going on forever. I suspect that there is a collision going on. What is needed to get but uploads working? Or do I need to use different buckets for each environment?

• Have the default security settings changed in Windows 7 that would affect IPrincipal.IsInRole?

  We use NTLM auth in our application to determine whether a user can perform certain operations. We use the IPrincipal of their current Windows login (in WinForms applications), calling IsInRole to check for specific group memberships. To check that a user is a local administrator on the machine, we use: AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetPrincipalPolicy(PrincipalPolicy.WindowsPrincipal); ... bool allowed = Thread.CurrentPrincipal.IsInRole(@"Builtin\Administrators") This works if the current user is the Administrator user, or is another user that is a member of the Builtin\Administrators group. In our testing on Windows 7, we have found that this no longer works as expected. The Administrator user still works fine, but any other user that is a member of the Builtin\Administrators group returns false for the IsInRole call. What could be causing this difference? I have a gut feeling that a default setting has changed somewhere (possible in gpedit), but cannot find anything that looks like the culprit.
