  • Saving multiple select form data in db

    Hi. I've got form for some model A, which has got few fields: tile description ... colors colors are selected from multiple select and options are ['red', 'green', 'blue', 'yellow']. User can choose colors as many as he wants. I don't think that making Color model and has_many relationship is good solution here to store colors data in model A. So question is: How to store multiple data in db for such multiple select forms?

  • Unique DVD info?

    I was wondering, is there some type of disc ID i can use to search in my database to see if that disc is has been scanned or not? All disc were created by me typically burnt on windows. -edit- I could compare write time and volume label to see if the disc has been scanned but i notice if i put in certain commercial disc that fields are blank or wrong causing many false positives (i once had the time set to the future, i dont know if people want to archive the contents of files on a commercial disc in my app).

    I've written an Html Helper called DetailsForm to reduce repetition when displaying fields in a view. Within a view - actually a partial view, ascx file - I can refer to it like this: Storyboard.Helpers.DetailsForm.LabelAndData(Html, m => m.id) But would like to refer to it like this: LabelAndData(Html, m => m.id) A 'using' directive doesn't seem to be allowed in the ascx file. Is there an equivalent?

    If you had two databases, that had two tables between them that would normally implement a one to one (or many to many) constraint but cannot since they are separate databases, how would you validate this relationship in an application or test? Is there a simple way to do this? For example, a tool or technique that can, given a constraint type, tables and fields, does the validation. Are there sites/scripts like the above which can make the output visible to all ? Something like a "guest book" script/form that you can edit the fields and the output will show immediately ?     I see iframe/p3p trick is the most popular one around, but I personally don't like it because javascript + hidden fields + frame really make it look like a hack job. I've also come across a master-slave approach using web service to communicate (http://www.15seconds.com/issue/971108.htm) and it seems better because it's transparent to the user and it's robust against different browsers. Is there any better approaches, and what are the pros and cons of each?

    In a code review I came across the following code that contains the following: # Python bug that renders the unicode identifier (0xEF 0xBB 0xBF) # as a character. # If untreated, it can prevent the page from validating or rendering # properly. bom = unicode( codecs.BOM_UTF8, "utf8" ) r = r.replace(bom, '') This is in a function that passes a string to Response object (Django or Flask). Is this still a bug that needs this fix in Python 2.7 or 3? Something tells me it isn't, but I thought I'd ask because I don't know this problem very well. Thanks for reading.

I'm using the "struct" library to do the broad unpacking, but is there a simple way to say "Grab the next 13 bits" rather than have to hand-tweak the bit manipulation? I'd like something like the way C does bit fields (without having to revert to C). Suggestions?

I've never touched anything CGI related and this does not appear to be a noob friendly area.     Hello: I have a simple webpage that displays the credit balance for calling cards. So far without any problems, with HTML, PHP and mysql, I was able to retrieve the balance from a data base. But I have to display the result in ANOTHER PAGE, wich looks akward because the page must reload. Can I just load this value into a pre-drawed field under the input fields that collect the data from the customer?
