  • MediaFileUpload of HTML in UTF-8 encoding using Python and Google-Drive-SDK

    Looking for example using MediaFileUpload has a reference to the basic documentation for creating/uploading a file to Google Drive. However, while I have code that creates files, converting from HTML to Google Doc format.   • "Outward" border-radius in css?

    Currently, the links at the top of my website look like this: However, I am trying to "round" the bottom edges of the buttons to make it look like they are coming out of the page and into the ribbon at the top. I am aware that you can hack it and add a "separator" div with rounded corners between each entry, but this would be difficult to do seeing at the borders used are not all from the same div. Also, it wouldn't be easy seeing as my buttons are very close to each other. The css for the "button": .button { border-top: 3px solid #A1C1BE; border-left: 3px solid #A1C1BE; border-right: 3px solid #A1C1BE; border-bottom: 0px; padding: 5px 8px 5px 8px; margin: 0 0 -9px 0; border-radius: 5px 5px 0 0; font-size: 12px; font-family: 'PT Sans', sans-serif; background-color: #f8f8ff; color: #484848; } css for the "ribbon": #top-wrapper { border-bottom: 5px solid #A1C1BE; width: 100%; background-color: #59554E; padding: 10px 0 0 0; color: #C0C0A8; } As you can see, the thicker border belongs to the ribbon which stretches the length of the webpage, whereas the thinner blue border is part of the button.

    I have 2 columns, one of them I float to the left and the other I float to the right. The right side has input buttons on them. For some reason the buttons are kind of in the middle of the column, I want them to be vertically aligned all the way to the top and to the right. How can I do this? Is it just playing with padding?

  • Changing <img src="XXX" />, js event when new image has finished loading?

    I have a photo gallery web page where a single <img src="XXX" /> element's src is changed (on a click) with javascript to show the next image—a poor man's ajax I guess. Works great on faster connections when the new image appears almost immediately. Even if it takes a few seconds to load, every browser I've tested it on keeps the old image in place until the new one is completely loaded. It's a little confusing waiting those few seconds on a slow connection, though, and I'm wondering if there's some javascript event that fires when the new image is done loading, allowing me to put a little working... animated gif or something up in the meantime. I know I could use AJAX for real (I'm using jQuery already), but this is such a nice and simple solution. Besides this lag, is there any other reason I should stay away from this approach to changing images? thanks.

    There is a common feature of modern browsers where a user can select some text and drag it to an input field. Within the same field it causes moving of text, between different fields it does copying. How do I disable that? If there is no portable way, I am mostly interested in firefox. This is an intranet webapp, so I am also interested in modifying the browser/getting a plugin to do this. Maybe some system-level settings (I`m on windows XP)? I need to keep the default select-copy-paste functionality. The background is I have multiple-field data entry forms, and users often drag something by mistake.

  • Reducing load time, or making the user think the load time is less

    I've been working on a website, and we've managed to reduce the total content for a page load from 13.7MiB's to 2.4, but the page still takes forever to load. It's a joomla site (ick), and it has a lot of redundant DOM elements (2000+ for the home page), and make 60+ HttpRequest's per page load, counting all the css, js, and image requests. Unlike drupal, joomla won't merge them all on the fly, and they have to be kept separate or else the joomla components will go nuts. What can I do to improve load time? Things I've done: Added colors to dom elements that have large images as their background so the color is loaded, then the image Reduced excessively large images to much smaller file sizes Reduced DOM elements to ~2000, from ~5000 Loading CSS at the start of the page, and javascript at the end Not totally possible, joomla injects it's own javascript and css and it does it at the header, always. Minified most javascript Setup caching and gziping on server Uncached size 2.4MB, cached is ~300KB, but even with so many dom elements, the page takes a good bit of time to render. What more can I do to improve the load time?

    I'm writing part of a web page that allows a user to build a table and fill it with information. In the course of building the table, the user will be adding additional columns with headers. I'd like to code it so when the combined width of all the headers causes one of them to wrap that the table columns switch to using vertical text (writing-mode: tb-rl).     I have this: <a href="javascript:void(0);"> <div> <span>some content</span> <span>some content</span> </div> </a> The problem is hovering the mouse over from one <span> to another triggers an instant mouseout and mouseover again even though they have no padding or margin between them. Even on the browser's status bar the link flickers for an instant. How can this be prevented?

    This was added to the page later with jQuery: <input name="pdfRadio" id="pdfRadioNo0" value="0" type="radio"> This code: radio_id = "pdfRadioNo0" ie.radio(:id, radio_id).set() does not set it but returns an error message: Watir::Exception::UnknownObjectException: Unable to locate element, using {:id=>"pdfRadioNo0"} Does watir also find radio butons that were added later?   • jquery - problem with executing annimation of two separate objects, one after another

    Hello I have problem to put together animations of two separate objects to second one start when first one ends. I tried to use callback but it seems that i make some syntax misteakes which crash jQuery or cause some unexpected behaviour. It seems that i'm stuck so I'd like to ask You for best way to put these animations together to act the way I want. in mouseenter 1st .pp grows, 2nd .tt fade in in mouseleave 1st .tt fade out, 2nd .pp shrink It's alsp relevant that animations doesn't pile up, i mean here animation called by one event doesnt wait until other animation in progress will end. I was able to do it when it returns just one result but when it gives me multiple results I could only edit the very last item.
