  • can't load/read yahoo geocode as xml and read it in jquery

    - by mastah
    Hi, I tried saving the result as an xml, when I read from there it works, but if I read it from yahoo's api, doesn't load anything. You can check it here here's my script $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "http://local.yahooapis.com/MapsService/V1/geocode?appid=YD-9G7bey8_JXxQP6rxl.fBFGgCdNjoDMACQA--&zip=10035", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml) { $(xml).find('Result').each(function(){ var city = $(this).find('City').text(); var state = $(this).find('State').text(); $('<div />').html('<p>'+city+'</p><p>'+state+'</p>').insertAfter('h2'); }); } }); });

  • added div does not recognize jquery function

    - by zurna
    I pull categories of one section from a XML. Problem is, pulled categories need to recognize tab plugin but they do not recognize it. I am not sure if I made sense, please let me know if I didnt make any sense. I will try to explain it again. :) $.ajax({ dataType: "xml", url: "/FLPM/content/home/index.cs.asp?Process=ViewVCategories", success: function(xml) { $(xml).find('row').each(function(){ var id = $(this).attr('id'); var CategoryName = $(this).find('CategoryName').text(); $("<div class='tab fleft'><a href='#'>"+ CategoryName + "</a></div>").appendTo("#VCategories"); }); } }); $("div.row-title").tabs("div.panes > div", {effect: 'ajax'}, function(i) { // get the pane to be opened var pane = this.getPanes().eq(i); // load it with a page specified in the tab's href attribute pane.html('<img src="http://www.refinethetaste.com/html/cp/images/loading.gif" alt="Loading..." />') .load(this.getTabs().eq(i).attr("href")); }); pulled categories displayed here: <div class="row-title clear" id="VCategories"> categories xml <rows> - <row id="1"> <CategoryName>Nation</CategoryName> </row> - <row id="2"> <CategoryName>Politics</CategoryName> </row> - <row id="3"> <CategoryName>Health</CategoryName> </row> - <row id="4"> <CategoryName>Business</CategoryName> </row> - <row id="5"> <CategoryName>Culture</CategoryName> </row> </rows> </div>

  • Jquery Clear / reset .Queue() ?

    - by Wes
    I have the following code that triggers two functions whenever a button is clicked. However it only fires the functions once. If i click it again, it does nothing. I need to reset this queue so it fires the functions everytime I click the button. Also, I'm only doing this so I can delay the functions from be fired 1000ms - is there another way to do this? $('#play').click(function() { // other code.. $(this).delay(1000).queue(function(){ countHourly(); countFlights() }); });

  • IE only jQuery bug

    - by Greg-J
    jsbin for reference: http://jsbin.com/edago3/5/ When viewed in any other browser, the toggler works as you would expect it to. However, in IE (I'm using 8), you can only contract the currently expanded sub menu, and then you get undesired results once it is closed.

  • how to hide table columns in jQuery?

    - by understack
    I've a table with lots of columns. I want to give users the option to select columns to be shown in table. These options would be checkboxes along with the column names. So how can I hide/unhide table columns based on checkboxes? Would hiding (using .hide()) each td in each row work? May be I can assign checkbox value to the location of column in table. So first checkbox means first column and so on. And then recursively hide that 'numbered' td in each row. Would that work?

  • Jquery CheckBox Selection/Deselection optimally given X checkboxes

    - by Amitd
    Hi guys, I have suppose say 'X' check-boxes(any input elements) in a Form and "M" option selection indexes ("M" less than equal to "X"). then how do i select the "M" option indexes/values and deselect the rest of check-boxes optimally? i.e.Suppose I have 10 Checkboxes and 5 Option Indices(eg: 1,2,4,5,8) then i have to select checkboxes with given index . I could come up with the following code: HTML: <div id="Options"> <input id="choice_1" type="checkbox" name="choice_1" value="Option1"><label for="choice_1">Option1</label> <input id="choice_2" type="checkbox" name="choice_2" value="Option2"><label for="choice_2">Option2</label> <input id="choice_3" type="checkbox" name="choice_3" value="Option3"><label for="choice_3">Option3</label> .. ..till choice_10 </div> IN JS: //Have to select checkboxes with "Value" in choicesToSelect and give a selection //effect to its label var choicesToSelect={"Option1","Option9","Option3","Option4","Option2"}; selectHighlightCheckBoxes(choicesToSelect); function selectHighlightCheckBoxes(choices){ $.each( choices, function(intIndex, objValue) { //select based on id or value or some criteria var option = $("#Options :input[value=" + objValue + "]") ; if ($(option).is("input[type='radio']") || $(option).is("input[type='checkbox']")) { $(option).attr('checked', true); $(option).next('label:first').css({ 'border': '1px solid #FF0000', 'background-color': '#BEF781', 'font-weight': 'bolder' }); } else if ($(option).is("input[type='text']")) { $(option).css({ 'border': '1px solid #FF0000', 'background-color': '#BEF781', 'font-weight': 'bolder' }); } else { } } ); } But i want to also add effect to the rest (not in choicesToSelect array) also. (may be red color to those not in choiceToSelect) Can this be done in the one traversal/loop? Optimally? or Better way?

  • Improve performance of searching JSON object with jQuery

    - by cale_b
    Please forgive me if this is answered on SO somewhere already. I've searched, and it seems as though this is a fairly specific case. Here's an example of the JSON (NOTE: this is very stripped down - this is dynamically loaded, and currently there are 126 records): var layout = { "2":[{"id":"40","attribute_id":"2","option_id":null,"design_attribute_id":"4","design_option_id":"131","width":"10","height":"10", "repeat":"0","top":"0","left":"0","bottom":"0","right":"0","use_right":"0","use_bottom":"0","apply_to_options":"0"}, {"id":"41","attribute_id":"2","option_id":"115","design_attribute_id":"4","design_option_id":"131","width":"2","height":"1", "repeat":"0","top":"0","left":"0","bottom":"4","right":"2","use_right":"0","use_bottom":"0","apply_to_options":"0"}, {"id":"44","attribute_id":"2","option_id":"118","design_attribute_id":"4","design_option_id":"131","width":"10","height":"10", "repeat":"0","top":"0","left":"0","bottom":"0","right":"0","use_right":"0","use_bottom":"0","apply_to_options":"0"}], "5":[{"id":"326","attribute_id":"5","option_id":null,"design_attribute_id":"4","design_option_id":"154","width":"5","height":"5", "repeat":"0","top":"0","left":"0","bottom":"0","right":"0","use_right":"0","use_bottom":"0","apply_to_options":"0"}] }; I need to match the right combination of values. Here's the function I currently use: function drawOption(attid, optid) { var attlayout = layout[attid]; $.each(attlayout, function(k, v) { // d_opt_id and d_opt_id are global scoped variable set elsewhere if (v.design_attribute_id == d_att_id && v.design_option_id == d_opt_id && v.attribute_id == attid && ((v.apply_to_options == 1 || (v.option_id === optid)))) { // Do stuff here } }); } The issue is that I might iterate through 10-15 layouts (unique attid's), and any given layout (attid) might have as many as 50 possibilities, which means that this loop is being run A LOT. Given the multiple criteria that have to be matched, would an AJAX call work better? (This JSON is dynamically created via PHP, so I could craft a PHP function that could possibly do this more efficently), or am I completely missing something about how to find items in a JSON object? As always, any suggestions for improving the code are welcome! EDIT: I apologize for not making this clear, but the purpose of this question is to find a way to improve the performance. The page has a lot of javascript, and this is a location where I know that performance is lower than it could be.

  • Which keycode for escape key with jQuery

    - by Shishant
    I have two functions. When enter is pressed the functions runs correctly but when escape is pressed it doesn't. What's the correct number for the escape key? $(document).keypress(function(e) { if (e.which == 13) { $('.save').click(); } // enter (works as expected) if (e.which == 27) { $('.cancel').click(); } // esc (does not work) });

    - by Talkar
    I need to populate some data into a table. The data i have is something i get in response from my ASP.NET MVC site, when i make a json post call there. Yet i can't seem to find a way to actually display the data i get back in response. Here is my code so far. • Finding the closest grid coordinate to the mouse onclick with javascript/jQuery

    - by Acorn
    What I'm trying to do is make a grid of invisible coordinates on the page equally spaced. I then want a <div> to be placed at whatever grid coordinate is closest to the pointer when onclick is triggered. Here's the rough idea: I have the tracking of the mouse coordinates and the placing of the <div> worked out fine. What I'm stuck with is how to approach the problem of the grid of coordinates. First of all, should I have all my coordinates in an array which I then compare my onclick coordinate to? Or seeing as my grid coordinates follow a rule, could I do something like finding out which coordinate that is a multiple of whatever my spacing is is closest to the onclick coordinate? And then, where do I start with working out which grid point coordinate is closest? What's the best way of going about it? Thanks!

  • jQuery background-position animation

    - by depi
    Hi guys, I've created an image which is basically a CSS sprite of 3 images together. It's size is 278x123 so they are basically 3 images of 278x41. What I am trying to do is to make an animation of that by changing the background position. I've tried many things, one of my not very working solution is the following: var $slogan = $('#header h2 span'); $slogan.css({backgroundPosition: '0px 0px'}); function slogan_animation() { if ($slogan.css('background-position') == '0px 0px') { $slogan.fadeIn('slow').css('background-position', '0px -41px').fadeOut('slow'); } else if ($slogan.css('background-position') == '0px -41px') { $slogan.fadeIn('slow').css('background-position', '0px -82px').fadeOut('slow'); } else if ($slogan.css('background-position') == '0px -82px') { $slogan.fadeIn('slow').css('background-position', '0px 0px').fadeOut('slow'); } } setInterval(slogan_animation, 2000); Any ideas how could I do that? Basically I just need to: - set my background position to "0px 0px", then move it to "0px -41px", then "0px -82px" and then loop it again from "0px 0px". It would be also great to have fadeIn() effect between those. Any ideas? Thank you.

  • jQuery background image transition

    - by Hock
    I have a div that has a 'home.jpg' image as background and I want the background to be 'another_image.jpg' when I click something. The thing is that I want the new background to fadeIn and not just to appear (by doing some .css('background', url('another_image.jpg')); ) Is there a way to do that? I've tried the bgImageTransition plugin but it just adds another element on top of the div I had... Thanks,

  • ASP.NET, JQuery - Sharing regular expressions

    - by Steve
    If you have a fair number of regular expressions used by both client (javascript) and server side code (C#, vb.net) and want to store them in one place to avoid duplication, where do you store them? I could use registerscript and write out the regex as strings, but just wondering if there is something more elegant.
