Hi,
I've seening quite a few posts on here regarding grids, but nothing specifically asking for a free grid component that supports editing.
Has any body come across such a thing? Is there a JQuery pluggin that I could use?
If not has anybody got any pointers on a good approach to writing my own (using asp.net mvc2 and/or jquery)?
Thanks in advance!
Actually its the mono version of asp.net, XSP.
In my begin request function i check the url and rewrite when necessary. In one case i do
context.RewritePath("~/App_Data/public" + path);
When i try to request images or anything i get a 404 instead of the content. Why?
Hi SO community
I have been issued a problem with security. A bank will not allow use of DLL's in the project. What sort of structure would be needed to allow DataAccess and or the use of external services (like an email client mailchimp, icontct).
has anyone else encountered this sort of problem before? If they have how should the project be structured (.net 3.5+).
Thanks,
KJ

I'm working on an ASP.NET webapp using the MVP pattern, and as I'm organizing my files I'm wondering - are there conventions on folders within projects and how they relate to namespaces?
I have a bunch of controls and a bunch of pages, and I was going to throw them into Controls and Pages folders with subfolders, but I didn't know if it was bad form to do this if I wasn't also going to seperate them out into namespaces.
Thanks.
I have the following asp.net mvc 3 razor code, where "item" is my model,
<a @if (item.Selected) { class="youarehere" } href="@item.Href" title="@item.Title">@item.Description</a>
This code throws up the following error,
CS1513: } expected
which is pointing to
class="youarehere"
portion of the code, but I could not figure out why. Could someone help point out how to fix it please? Thank you.

I just started using C# and I've got a couple of issues.
Is there any way to code the C# equivalent of the VB.NET Select statement like the following?
Select Object.Name.ToString()
Case "Name1"
'Do something
Case "Name2"
'Do something else
Case Else
'Do the default action
End Select
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is there any IOC container that already implements a controller factory compatible with asp.net mvc 2.0 ....if so i'll move my projects to 2.0 to test...
Anyone know a good reference about it?
In .NET there are 8 bytes of overheard for each object. 4 bytes are a pointer to the object's type. What are the other 4 bytes, known as the object header, used for?
In my 2nd ASP.NET MVC project I'm facing a very weird problem: when I call the SubmitChanges method of the DataContext class, nothing updates in the database. It's weird because everything works fine with my first project.
I'm using a remote database created in Sql Server Management Studio, I tried doing some queries there and in Visual Studio 2010 (where I have the connection to the database), they all work.
Where might the problem be hidden?
I am using the System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser object for displaying and printing a report. Unfortunately the Page Setup dialog is not obeying the language settings on the user's computer and all of the text is coming up in English. The .NET dialogs for opening and saving a file are coming up in the correct language but not the Printing/Page Setup dialogs for the Web Browser.
I just ran Google's Page Speed application against our site and one of the recommendations was to Leverage browser caching. Expanding this revealed the following:
The following cacheable resources have
a short freshness lifetime:
Specify an expiration at least one week in
the future for the following resources:
<a long list of images >
<some javascript files >
How do I go about lengthening the "freshness lifetime" of particular images?
It's an ASP.NET project running on IIS7.5
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
what test data approach/framework is recommended for .net unit testing? I'm in VS2010, C#, doing business logic layer testing.
By approaches I mean like: creating database snapshots, programmatically creating each time, etc etc. Like what approach to use to ensure at the start of each test the database is in a known state.

I have learned quite a bit browsing through Hidden Features
of C# and was surprised when I couldn't find something
similar for VB.NET.
So what are some of its hidden or lesser known features?
