• SEF URL Problem in Joomla1.5

  My joomla site url is: http://www.cessnatrader.com. I am using SEF URL for this site. The SEF URL is not working in the main menu(in top). But it is working fine for other places(other links, footer menu). I don't know what the problem is. I did all the things for enabling SEF URL in joomla. But it is not working in one place(main menu). What should I do? Note: I am using "Mosets tree" component in this site.

• Hibernate object equality checking

  As far as I understand(correct me if I am wrong) Hibernate uses object reference to check the object equality. When Hibernate identifies that there are more than one objects attached to same DB record, it throws following exception. "a different object with the same identifier value was already associated with the session" My question is, does Hibernate use equal() method to check the object equality (The default equal method uses object reference)? If it is true, will overridden equal() method change the Hibernate behavior? Note: My question is not about the issues of implementing equal() or hashCode() methods in a Hibernate persisted object.   Assume we have some DataTable or IEnumerable with ChildID, ParentID and Title. We need to serialize it to XML like <Entity title=""> <Entity title=""></Entity> <Entity title=""></Entity> </Entity> As i found out, standard DataTable.GetXML() returns something different. I thought about initializing class tree like Entity e = new Entity(ID, Title, ParentEntityID) and then serializing it. Table is about 3000 elems. Is there faster way?

  This is a problem I've had a few times, and I'm not sure how to deal with it. When writing a print stylesheet, is there a way to ensure that an image is always only on a single page.   We're seeing strange behavior when running two versions of a query on SQL Server 2005: version A: SELECT otherattributes.* FROM listcontacts JOIN otherattributes ON listcontacts.contactId = otherattributes.contactId WHERE listcontacts.listid = 1234 ORDER BY name ASC version B: DECLARE @Id AS INT; SET @Id = 1234; SELECT otherattributes.* FROM listcontacts JOIN otherattributes ON listcontacts.contactId = otherattributes.contactId WHERE listcontacts.listid = @Id ORDER BY name ASC Both queries return 1000 rows; version A takes on average 15s; version B on average takes 4s. Could anyone help us understand the difference in execution times of these two versions of SQL? If we invoke this query via named parameters using NHibernate, we see the following query via SQL Server profiler: EXEC sp_executesql N'SELECT otherattributes.* FROM listcontacts JOIN otherattributes ON listcontacts.contactId = otherattributes.contactId WHERE listcontacts.listid = @id ORDER BY name ASC', N'@id INT', @id=1234; ...and this tends to perform as badly as version A.   I'm starting to see more and more script references show up like so: <script type="text/javascript" src="//somedomain.com/somescript.js"></script> Note the lack of http: at the beginning of the src attribute. It seems to work fine and avoids the messy requirement of detecting http vs https, but I've never actually seen this uri format referenced anywhere. Where did it come from? Is this behavior documented anywhere? Is it guaranteed to work in any browser?

• Jquery - How to make $.post() use contentType=application/json?

  I've noticed that when using $.post() in jquery that the default contentType is application/x-www-form-urlencoded - when my asp.net mvc code needs to have contentType=application/json (See this question for why I must use application/json: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2792603/aspnet-mvc-why-is-modelstate-isvalid-false-the-x-field-is-required-when-that) How can I make $.post() send contentType=application/json? I already have a large number of $.post() functions, so I don't want to change to $.ajax() because it would take too much time If I try $.post(url, data, function(), "json") It still has contentType=application/x-www-form-urlencoded. So what exactly does the "json" param do if it does not change the contenttype to json? If I try $.ajaxSetup({ contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8" }); That works but affects every single $.get and $.post that I have and causes some to break. So is there some way that I can change the behavior of $.post() to send contentType=application/json?

• .classpath and .project - check into version control or not?

  I'm running an open source java project that consists of multiple modules in a tree of dependencies. All those modules are subdirectories in a subversion repository. For newcomers to our project, it's a lot of work to set all that up manually in eclipse. Not all our developers use eclipse. Nevertheless, we're considering to just check in the .classpath and .project files to help newcomers to get started. Is this a good idea? Or would that lead to constant conflicts in those files? Is there an alternative way to make the project easy to set up on eclipse?

• Debugging a Browser Redirect Loop

  Hi all, I am using CakePHP with the Auth and ACL components. My page loads fine for non-registered users, but if I try to log in as a registered user I get an infinite redirect loop in the browser. I am sure that this is some sort of permissions problem, but the problem exists even for users who have permissions for everything. The only way to prevent this behavior is to allow '*' in my AppController's beforeFilter method. What is the best way to debug this sort of problem? Thanks!

• How do I store in subversion my customizations to a public open source project?

  Hi, I'm working on customizing a couple of open source projects in ways that are very much personalized -- i.e., not appropriate to send the patches back to the maintainers for the public. One of them is stored in CVS, one in SVN. I use SVN for my own work. The CVS project is fine. I check the tree in to my svn repository, including the CVS directories. I can commit all my changes, and still do a cvs update to stay up to date with bug fixes/features of the public project. How should I work on the svn project? Is there a 'best practice' or known procedure for this kind of scenario?

• Eclipse call hierarchy skips calls in undefined #ifdef regions

  Hi all, The "call hierarchy" and "declaration" features in Eclipse CDT omit results that exist in undefined (greyed out) #ifdef regions. Example: void blah(void) { #ifndef ABC foo(); #else //line is greyed out bar(); //line is greyed out #endif //line is greyed out } The call hierarchy for foo() will list blah() as a caller; the call hierarchy for bar() will not list blah(). I'm not expecting it to do full resolution of which #define blocks will get compiled, I simply would like it to return all calls/declarations of the function I'm searching for, regardless of the #define blocks that surround it. Other IDEs such as SlickEdit are able to do this. Does anyone know of a way to get Eclipse to adopt this behavior? Thanks.

• Implementing Tagging using Core Data on the iPhone

  I have an application that uses CoreData and I'm trying to figure out the best way to implement tagging and filtering by tag. For my purposes, if I was doing this in raw SQLite I would only need three tables, tags, item_tags and of course my items table. Then filtering would be as simple as joining between the three tables where only items are related to the given tags. Quite straightforward. But, is there a way to do this in CoreData and utilizing NSFetchedResultsController? It doesn't seem that NSPredicate give you the ability to filter through joins. NSPredicate's aren't full SQL anyway so I'm probably barking up the wrong tree there. I'm trying to avoid reimplementing my app using SQLite without CoreData since I'm enjoying the performance CoreData gives me in other areas. Yes, I did consider (and built a test implementation) diving into the raw SQLite that CoreData generates, but that's not future proof and I want to avoid that, too. Has anyone else tried to tackle tagging/filtering with CoreData in a UITableView with NSFetchedResultsController

• Why do people develop emotional attachments for programming languages?

  Aside from people who actually developed the languages, I really don't get how someone can develop passion/attachment/perhaps even obsession for a programming language... yet not a day goes by that I don't see a programmer exhibiting this behavior on the internet. I understand how people can feel this way regarding spoken languages - but there's a whole boatload of culture, history, etc that come attached with them. By comparison, the "Python Culture" (as an example) is so small as to be wholly insignificant. Does everyone have a language they love? Am I the odd one out? The dirty polygamist? Are these people rational or silly?

• Why a thread is aborted in ASP.NET MVC (again)?

  Here is what I do in a controller action: create and start a new Thread that does a relatively long processing task (~30 seconds on average, but might be several minutes) immediately return the page response so the user knows processing has started (trivially, a Json with a task ID for polling purposes). At some random point, ThreadAbortException is thrown, so the async task does not complete. The exception is not thrown every time, it just happens randomly roughly 25% of the times. Points to note: I'm not calling Response.End or Response.Redirect - there isn't even a request running when the exception is thrown I tried using ThreadPool and I got the same behavior I know running threads in ASP.NET has several caveats but I don't care right now Any suggestion?

• Powershell equivilent of python's if __name__ == '__main__':

  I am really fond of python's capability to do things like this: if __name__ == '__main__': #setup testing code here #or setup a call a function with parameters and human format the output #etc... This is nice because I can treat a Python script file as something that can be called from the command line but it remains available for me to import its functions and classes into a separate python script file easily without triggering the default "run from the command line behavior". Does Powershell have a similar facility that I could exploit? And if it doesn't how should I be organizing my library of function files so that i can easily execute some of them while I am developing them?

  I use outputPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(outputPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); and then I add elements (for example JLabels, JButtons) to the outputPanel. For example: outputPanel.add(submitButton);. I see that all added elements are "centered". It is good, because I do want my elements to be in the center. When I write "center" I mean "equal distance from left and right". But the problem is that the left part of the element is put into the center. And I want to have center of elements to be put into the center. How can I get this behavior?

  I am trying to set the click event of a button on my form and for some reason I am getting weird behavior. When I bind the click event to a function that takes no arguments, things seem to work fine. But when I bind the event with a function that takes an argument, the event fires on document ready and on click. Any ideas? • Flymake quits right ahead after loading with js2-mode

  When opening .js files, js2-mode and, subsequently, flymake-js is automatically loaded. But flymake unloads right ahead with the message Toggling flymake-mode off; better pass an explicit argument. However, when enabling it manually, using M-x flymake-mode, it keeps activated. Has anybody encountered similar behavior and has fixed it? My setup: I followed the instructions on emacswiki to set up Flymake to work with the most recent js2-mode with a little modification: (add-hook 'js2-mode-hook '(lambda () (flymake-js-load))) instead of (add-hook 'javascript-mode-hook '(lambda () (flymake-js-load)))

• NSTextField (Label) Attributed Text: Select

  I have a NSTextField Label that has attributed text in it. The color and size are different from the defaults. (The text is a bit larger and green) Now, I need to be able to select the text in the label so as the click the hyperlinks embedded in the attributed text. This works fine; however, when selecting the text the format of the text reverts back to the defaults (a smaller, black font). Is there anyway to stop this behavior so that my styling is preserved when the user clicks (selects text) on a Label?

• Is iOS6 simulator buggy when deleting applications?

  Frequently, when I try to delete an app on the iOS 6 simulator that comes with Xcode 4.5, the simulator freezes. What I do is just long press on the app. Delete dialog doesn't come up and the icons keep on wiggling. Quitting and re-opening the simulator does not help to delete the app. I've tried to delete the app's folder from /Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/5.1/Applications folder. Sometimes this helps but sometimes even this doesn't delete the icon from the simulator. This behavior is independent of the iOS version or the device model. It's the same whichever model/iOS I choose. The only thing that helps is using the Reset Contents and Settings option of the simulator. Do you experience the same frustration? If so, have you figured out a workaround besides resetting the simulator completely?

  I am creating a custom Attribute (extending System.Attribute). I know I can put it on another class easily enough by doing the following. [MattsAttribute] public class SomeClassWhichIsACodeBehind { However, I need to be able to test this attribute easily, and putting it in the code-behind would cause a lot of extra effort to get it deployed to an environment which would respond to the behavior of attribute. What I would like to do: declaratively apply this attribute to the .aspx page itself (which is really just another class that inherits from the code-behind). Is this possible? If so, what is the proper syntax for doing this?
