I'd like to create a function that retrieves the post count for a given query. I don't want to use get_posts obviously as its way to expensive for this purpose. However, that's exactly what I'm having to use in absense of a get_post_count function. paypal IPN sends two different twice

I've come across something a bit strange I was hoping someone with more experience with Paypal can explain, Specifically the IPN feature. It seems I'm getting two very different hits to my IPN listener. The first one always fails, The second one passes. Now I know Paypal tends to send duplicates, But what I've noticed is two very different $_POST arrays being recieved. What would I use to remove escaped html from large sets of data.

Our database is filled with articles retrieved from RSS feeds. I was unsure of what data I would be getting, and how much filtering was already setup (WP-O-Matic Wordpress plugin using the SimplePie library). This plugin does some basic encoding before insertion using Wordpress's built in post insert function which also does some filtering. I've figured out most of the filters before insertion, but now I have whacko data that I need to remove. This is an example of whacko data that I have data in one field which the content I want in the front, but this part removed which is at the end: <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:V_sGLiPBpWU" border="0"></img> <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?d=qj6IDK7rITs" border="0"></img> <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:D7DqB2pKExk" Notice how some of the images are escape and some aren't. I believe this has to do with the last part being cut off so as to be unrecognizable as an html tag, which then caused it to be html endcoded. Another field has only this which is now filtered before insertion, but I have to get rid of the others: <img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2183/2289902369_1d95bcdb85.jpg" alt="post_img" width="80" (all examples are on one line, but broken up for readability) Question: What is the best way to work with the above escaped html (or portion of an html tag)? I can do it in Perl, PHP, SQL, Ruby, and even Python. I believe Perl to be the best at text parsing, so that's why I used the Perl tag. And PHP times out on large database operations, so that's pretty much out unless I wanted to do batch processing and what not. PS One of the nice things about using Wordpress's insert post function, is that if you use php's strip_tags function to strip out all html, insert post function will insert <p> at the paragraph points. Hi, I can't figure out a way to bind several arguments and headers to one request parameter using annotations in Spring 3. For example, let's say I'm getting this request: Headers: Content-type: text/plain; POST Body: Name: Max Now I want it all to mysteriously bind to this object: class NameInfo { String name; } Using some code like this: String getName() { if ("text/plain".equals(headers.get("content-type"))) { return body.get("name"); } else if ("xml".equals(headers.get("content-type")) { return parseXml(body).get("name"); } else ... } So that in the end I would be able to use: @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.POST) void processName(@RequestAttribute NameInfo name) { ... } Is there a way to achieve something similar to what I need? For browser applications, this happens automatically by the browser, for non browser applications, it is pretty trivial to save the cookie and send it with each request. However, I have not figured out a good approach for doing the initial handshake from browser applications. For example, if this is all happening using a AJAX technique, what prevents the user from being able to access the ID/Pass the client is using to handshake with the service? It seem's like this is the only stumbling block to this approach and I'm stumped.

So I am using Limonade PHP which has a RESTful design which emulates PUT, POST, DELETE routes for create, update, delete. I am trying to develop some form validation which is going well. The major problem I am facing though is how to return my filtered data (which has failed validation) back to repopulate the create or edit form. How would this be done? I currently have for creating a page: /admin/page/new -> GET function /admin/page -> POST function + validate + pass, update db + fail, add errors to flash, redirect to /admin/page/mew It all falls down as I do not know how to populate the /admin/page/new with the invalid, but filtered data.

ie6 p3p 'file download security warning'

i have a page inside iframe, so i set the header to "P3P","CP=\"IDC DSP COR ADM DEVi TAIi PSA PSD IVAi IVDi CONi HIS OUR IND CNT\"" after that my page inside iframe able to load properly and i able to authenticate user with 'form' post . but on ie6, when i post 'form' inside iframe, i get ie6 message 'file download security warning on javascript file' . those javascript files are put on 'head' of pages inside iframe. how comes ie6 suddenly pop up dialog asking to download those files? anyone know which p3p parameter cause this problem?

Multiple records with one request in RESTful system

All the examples I've seen regarding a RESTful architecture have dealt with a single record. For example, a GET request to mydomain.com/foo/53 to get foo 53 or a POST to mydomain.com/foo to create a new Foo. But what about multiple records? Being able to request a series of Foos by id or post an array of new Foos generally would be more efficient with a single API request rather than dozens of individual requests. Would you "overload" mydomain.com/foo to handle requests for both a single or multiple records? Or would you add a mydomain.com/foo-multiple to handle plural POSTs and GETs? I'm designing a system that may potentially need to get many records at once (something akin to mydomain.com/foo/53,54,66,86,87) But since I haven't seen any examples of this, I'm wondering if there's something I'm just not getting about a RESTful architecture that makes this approach "wrong".

Full Width Divs using ScrollTo.js

This is my first ever post. I am using the ScrollTo jQuery plugin and i have stumbled across a problem... I have 6 rows, each with 6 child divs , I would like each of these child divs to be full width. The plugin works great but I cannot seem to get the child div to be full width (then use ScrollTo to 'slide' to the next div, or to a div on the next row. ) Here is my code: http://jsfiddle.net/RZjrV/ Is it even possible? Never render a layout in response to xhrs

Most of the time I don't want to render a layout when the request comes from AJAX. To this end I've been writing render :layout => !request.xhr? frequently in my controller actions. How can I make this the default? I.e., I'd like to be able to write def new Post.find(params[:id]) end and have the functionality be def show Post.find(params[:id]) render :layout => !request.xhr? end (I'm fine manually specifying a layout in the rare cases in which I want to use one.)

The panel which assigned to PopupControlID of the mpe contains a textbox and a button. This button will triggered a page method web service that will return a value to be assigned to the textbox. My problem is when I click the button, after partial post back, the mpe disapper (hide). I tried everything to make it show. NSOutlineView with Drag and Drop

I read the other post here on Outlineviews and DND, but I can't get my program to work. At the bottom of this post is a link to a zip of my project. Its very basic with only an outlineview and button. I want it to receive text files being dropped on it, but something is wrong with my code or connections. I tried following Apple's example code of their NSOutline Drag and Drop, but I'm missing something. 1 difference is my program is a document based program and their example isn't. I set the File's Owner to receive delegate actions, since that's where my code to handle drag and drop is, as well as a button action. I tried $.competency but it didn't work. I always get a "competency is undefined" error. I had to reinitialize the variable once again inside the callback. Is there a way to NOT reinitialize the variable inside the callback?

J2ME HTTPS Connection Problem: Certificate was issued by an unrecognized entity

I am developing a little J2ME application that will read our grades from our university's server. With Desktop Applications, It is fine, I can do it but in J2ME, it always gives me this error, even I use well-known services like HTTPS Google, I still get the same error. urlConn = (HttpsConnection) Connector.open("https://stars.bilkent.edu.tr/srs/ajax/login.php"); urlConn.setRequestMethod(HttpsConnection.POST); urlConn.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); o = urlConn.openOutputStream(); // Sending my POST requests to server input = urlConn.openDataInputStream(); In the last line I always get the error I mentioned above. What should I do about it?

How to call Ajax to run a PHP file while maintaining PHP & Javascript variables.

Hi Stackoverflowers. I'm using the Facebook php-sdk to get the users name and friends, right now the loading friends part takes about +3 seconds so I wanted to do it via Ajax, e.g. so the document can load and jQuery then calls an external PHP script which loads the friends (their names and their profile pictures). So to do this I did: $(document).ready(function() { var loadUrl = "http://localhost/fb/getFriends.php" ; $("#friends") .html("Hold on, your friends are loading!") .load(loadUrl); }); But I get a PHP error: Fatal error: Call to a member function api() on a non-object If I do this in the same PHP file (so I don't use Ajax at all to call it) it works fine. Now I think I understand the reason this is happening, but I don't know how to fix it. In my main index.php file I have a bunch of init and session code e.g. FB.init({ appId : '<?php echo $facebook->getAppId(); ?>', session : <?php echo json_encode($session); ?>, // don't refetch the session when PHP already has it status : true, // check login status cookie : true, // enable cookies to allow the server to access the session xfbml : true // parse XFBML }); So I'm just wondering what is the best way to treat my new separate PHP file getFriends.php in a way where it has access to all PHP/JavaScript session data/variables? If you haven't used the Facebook php-sdk I'll quickly explain what I mean: Lets say I have index.php and getUsername.php, from index.php I want to retrieve the getUsername.php file via Ajax using .load. Now the problem is getUsername.php needs to access PHP session data/Javascript Init functions which were created in index.php, so I'm thinking of ways to solve this (I'm new to PHP so sorry if this sounds silly) but I'm thinking maybe I could do a POST in jQuery Ajax and post the session data? Or maybe I could create a PHP class, so something like: class getUsername extends index{} /*Yes I'm a newbie*/ If you have a look at the php-sdk example.php link posted at the top maybe you'd better understand what variables exactly need to be accessed from a new file. Also on a different note, I'm using PHP to work out page rendering times and it seems that fetching the users name alone : // Session based API call. if ($session) { try { $uid = $facebook->getUser(); $me = $facebook->api('/me'); } catch (FacebookApiException $e) { error_log($e); } } Can take a good 4 seconds, is this normal? Once I get the users details is it good to cache it or something? -Speed isn't as important right now, for now I'm just trying to figure out this Ajax-separating php files thing.
