  I would like to model the following many to many relationship. Table A ID Field1 Field2 Table B ID Field1 Field2 LinkTable A_ID B_ID Field_I_want_to_ignore As I understand it, if LinkTable.Field_I_want_to_ignore was not present, the Entity Model Designer would automatically create a Many to Many relationship between entity A and entity B. However, because this field exists in the database the designer won't do it for me. I can delete the Field_I_want_to_ignore from the LinkTable Entity that the designer created for me, but how do I eliminate the LinkTable entity altogether and create the many to many relationship I want? I'm not averse to digging through the XML, just at the moment I can't see how to achieve what I want.

• How can I use a value from a session variable as part of the group name in signalR

  Hi I am trying to set up signalR to distribute messages to web users the problem is that the one site holds different 'areas' and also 'user types'. The Area is decided when the user visits the site by passing a url parameter, this is then stored in a session variable, The 'user type' is by default not logged in then changed when the user logs in to there user type (returned from a webservice) and stored in a User object. My aim was to connect to the hub using signalR when the user visits the site and add the users connectionId to a groupname, using the 'area id' from the session and the 'user type id' from the User object in the context. The problem I am having is that I can obtain the user id but when it comes to the area id signalR cannot access the session. I understand the reasoning behind not allowing the session available in signalR but does any one know if there is a way to enable this or an alternative way that I can gain access to the users area so that I can create these unique groups.

  Similar to this Java question. I would like to specify that a variable implements multiple interfaces. For instance private {IFirstInterface, ISecondInterface} _foo; public void SetFoo({IFirstInterface, ISecondInterface} value) { _foo = value; } Requirements: I don't have the ability to add an interface to most type that would be passed in to Foo. So I can't create a third interface that inherits from IFirstInterface and ISecondInterface. I would like to avoid making the containing class generic if possible because the type of Foo doesn't have much to do with the class and the user isn't likely to know it at compile time. I need to use foo to access methods in both interfaces at a later time. I would like to do this in a compiler safe way, i.e. no trying to cast to the interface just before trying to use it. If foo does not implement both interfaces quite a bit of functionality won't work properly. Is this possible?

  Hi, I have a table with primary key whose importance is technically high and none business wise. So, when I display the table data to user, I would like not to show him the primary key. Even if I load it in sqldatasource and dont show (I did this by removing the cloumn in "Columns" tag of GridView), I am not able to update or delete row using the built-in UpdateCommand & DeleteCommand.   Hi, To make things easier, the table contains all the words in the English dictionary. What I would like to do is be able to store the data as a trie. This way I can traverse the different branches of the trie and return the most relevant result. First, how do I store the data in the table as a trie? Second, how do I traverse the tree? If it helps at all, the suggestion in this previous question is where this question was sparked from. Please make sure it's SQL we're talking about. More over reloadData does only reload the cells. It doesn't take care of actually updating the underlying datasource. E.g. if i read data from an array in tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath:, I have to change the array values befor calling reloadData. How can i achieve this. Please help me out.Thanks.

I also need to pass an argument that only has a single numeric value possible (to specify timeout), e.g.: ./urltest.php 60 url1.com url2.com url3.com I'm not exactly sure how to specify argv[1] to be a single numeric variable while at the same time the rest of the arguments (i.e. the list of urls) go into an array.   I have three columns in my data table. 1) ProductID 2) ProductParentID 3) ProductTotal ProductID and ProductParentID are self refrencing columns where i can set parent child relationship and get child rows based on my relationship. Let us say i have following data Product1     Product11     Product12     Product13         Product131         Product132         Product133 Product2     Product21     Product22     Product23 Next to above hierarchy in Product total column what i want is total of each child rows and sum of those child rows product total should be rolled up to it parent product. E.g if Product 131 total is 10,Product 13 total is 15 and Product 133 total is 5 then the product 13 total should be 30. The logic should work for n number of self hierarchy. Is there any functionality in data table itself where i can achieve this without iterating through each row and do it manually ? Thanks.

I can take care of all the backup stuff, but the table maintenance baffles me some. Does anyone have any input on how often I should (or how often you do would suffice too) the following tasks? Again if you can share how often you do these tasks that would be great...and/or share any general information about your approach to table maintenance that would be helpful.   (I am learning Javascript) Problem: A page I am working on has 2 views, a data entry view with a textbox and a data rendering view. There is a a href src="currentpage#" link that switches between the 2 views. In order to transmit data from view to view, the javascript parses it from the current HTML and pushes it into the correct form for the other view. This is ugly and I want to refactor it out, ideally into some sort of global where it can be neatly rendered down into the view on command (I'm refactoring the code base to a point where I can AJAX it from a server). However, I am not certain about scoping rules and variable life in JS.

• Can I use JPA/EJB3 on a table that was created at runtime?

  This is weird and probably not possible but I'll ask anyway. I'm making this app that reads in a meta file and creates some tables then populates them with data. I was wondering if I could somehow use JPA to populate those tables. Obviously, there's no way I could have an entity with annotations on it since the table didn't exist at compile time. But perhaps JPA or the entity manager has a way to load data into a nameless table? If possible, I'd expect a method like entityManager.update("myTableName", hashMapOfColumnNamesAndColumnDataValues);

  I have to rotate a given table from an sql server but a normal pivot just doesn't work (as far as i tried). So has anybody an idea how to rotate the table into the desired format? Just to make the problem more complicated, the list of given labels can vary and it is possible that a new label name can come into at any given time. • PHP - what is the proper way to do inline HTML variable output?

  I just moved from an Ubuntu PHP workstation dev environment back to Windows and am using xampp. I have a bit of code, like so: <input type="text" name="txtEmail" value="<?=$emailaddress;?>"/> that I swear worked to display the variable in the textbox when I was developing before. But when I loaded the page on Windows/xampp it just put that text between the quotes in the textbox. Instead, I ended up changing it to something like: <input type="text" name="txtFirstName" value="<?php echo($firstname);?>" /> The latter makes sense, but I guess I thought there was a shorthand or something, and I must be going crazy because I'm sure the first way was working on a difference environment. So what's the best way to do this?

  If I want to inject a globally scoped array variable into a page's client-side javascript during a full page postback, I can use: this.Page.ClientScript.RegisterArrayDeclaration("WorkCalendar", "\"" + date.ToShortDateString() + "\""); to declare and populate a client-side javascript array on the page. Nice and simple. But I want to do the same from a async postback from an UpdatePanel. The closest I can figure so far is to create a .js file that just contains the var declaration, update the file during the async postback, and then use a ScriptManagerProxy.Scripts.Add to add the .js file to the page's global scope. Is there anything simpler? r iz doin it wrong?

• Put stored procedure result set into a table-- any shortcuts besides INSERT INTO...EXEC?

  Hi everyone, I'm creating a temp table that's the result of a stored procedure's result set. Right now I'm using the create table statement, followed by insert into....exec. It gets the job done but I was curious if there are other ways of going about this? I wish it were possible to run a select into, with the stored procedure's result set serving the role of the select statement, so that I wouldn't have to write a create statement beforehand (so that if the stored proc's columns change, there wouldn't be any modifications needed.) If there are other ways to go about this that might fit my needs better I'd love to hear about them. Thanks very much.

  I'm using Python 2.x and I'm wondering if there's a way to tell if a variable is a new-style class? I know that if it's an old-style class that I can do the following to find out. import types class oldclass: pass def test(): o = oldclass() if type(o) is types.InstanceType: print 'Is old-style' else: print 'Is NOT old-style' But I haven't been able to find anything that works for new-style classes. I found this question, but the proposed solutions don't seem to work as expected, because simple values as are identified as classes. import inspect def newclass(object): pass def test(): n = newclass() if inspect.isclass(n): print 'Is class' else: print 'Is NOT class' if inspect.isclass(type(n)): print 'Is class' else: print 'Is NOT class' if inspect.isclass(type(1)): print 'Is class' else: print 'Is NOT class' if isinstance(n, object): print 'Is class' else: print 'Is NOT class' if isinstance(1, object): print 'Is class' else: print 'Is NOT class' So is there anyway to do something like this?
