  • JavaScript on jQuery created code never gets called

    - by mare
    This is my view in ASP.NET MVC. <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Administration.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="TitleContent" runat="server"> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent" runat="server"> <script type="text/javascript"> var ddlContentTypes; $(document).ready(function () { ddlContentTypes = $("#ContentTypes"); ddlContentTypes.bind("change", loadCreate); loadCreate(); }); function loadCreate() { var typeId = $("#ContentTypes option:selected").val(); $.get('~/' + typeId + '/Create', function (data) { $("#CreateForm").html(data); }); $("fieldset input").each(function (index, item) { $(item).attr("disabled", true); }); } </script> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content3" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <h2> <%=Resources.Localize.CreateWidget %></h2> <p> <% Html.RenderPartial("ContentTypeSelector"); %></p> <div id="CreateForm"> </div> </asp:Content> As you can see, it loads some HTML (actually user control) and adds it to the CreateForm div. This actually works fine. The problem is this $("fieldset input").each(function (index, item) { $(item).attr("disabled", true); }); never runs. The fieldset tag is in the response, so you don't see it here but it's there - everything is returned back fine (I checked with Firebug). Why do the above two lines of JS never run or have any effect?

  • jQuery Cluetip not activated until after hover or click event

    - by kenny99
    I'm not sure what is causing this, but I am using cluetip and binding it to a live event (either click or mouseenter), but in each situation the cluetip isn't firing until after one click or hover event. I am using the live event for ajax loaded content, but I'm also having this issue with non-Ajax loaded content. I'm not sure why this is happening - can anyone see where I might be going wrong? Many thanks. $("a.jTip").live("click", function(){ $('a.jTip').cluetip({ attribute: 'href', cluetipClass: 'jtip', arrows: true, activation: 'click', ajaxCache: false, dropShadow: true, sticky: true, mouseOutClose: false, closePosition: 'title' }) return false; });

  • css, jquery issue

    - by wadada
    I was playing with Infogrid on my site. I added a header, a footer and added some text on the last block of iron man. As you can see the footer doesn't show up and the text of the last block is cut off. Now if you remove overflow:hidden; on the body, html the footer shows up but the text is still cut off. Any idea on how this the footer could show up without the scrollbar (so overflow:hidden; has to stay) and how to get the text of the last block to show up entirely? Thanks in advance and have fun :) wadada

  • Jquery find next/prev elements of a certain class but not necessarily siblings

    - by Gnuffo1
    The next, prev, nextAll and prevAll methods are very useful, but not if the elements you are trying to find are not in the same parent element. What I want to do is something like this: <div><span id="click">hello</span></div> <div><p class="find">world></p></div> When the span with the id "click" is pressed, I want to match the next element with the class "find", which in this case is not a sibling of the clicked element so next or nextAll won't work.

  • jQuery .get appends an unknown variable to URL

    - by ILMV
    I'm using this code as the starting point to an overhaul of our JavaScript framework: $("#get").click(function(){ $("#result").html(ajax_load); $.get( "http://www.google.com", {}, function(responseText){ $("#result").html(responseText); }, "html" ); }); But when the request is made it includes a variable within the URL that I am unfarmiliar with, here is what Firebug says it's requesting: http://www.google.com/?_=1268993359215 How do I get rid of this, when we target our internal scripts it's firing a 404 error :-( Cheers!

  • Browser relative positioning with jQuery and CutyCapt

    - by Acoustic
    I've been using CutyCapt to take screen shots of several web pages with great success. My challenge now is to paint a few dots on those screen shots that represent where a user clicked. CutyCapt goes through a process of resizing the web page to the scroll width before taking a screen shot. That's extremely useful because you only get content and not much (if any) of the page's background. My challenge is trying to map a user's mouse X coordinates to the screen shot. Obviously users have different screen resolutions and have their browser window open to different sizes. The image below shows 3 examples with the same logo. Assume, for example, that the logo is 10 pixels to the left edge of the content area (in red). In each of these cases, and for any resolution, I need a JavaScript routine that will calculate that the logo's X coordinate is 10. Again, the challenge (I think) is differing resolutions. In the center-aligned examples, the logo's position, as measured from the left edge of the browser (in black), differs with changing browser size. The left-aligned example should be simple as the logo never moves as the screen resizes. Can anyone think of a way to calculate the scrollable width of a page? In other words, I'm looking for a JavaScript solution to calculate the minimum width of the browser window before a horizontal scroll bar shows up. Thanks for your help!

  • jQuery remove selected option from this

    - by odavy
    Hi all, first post here, I come in peace :) I've searched but can't quite find what I'm after. I am trying to manipulate the selected option of a select box. Can someone please explain why this works: $('#some_select_box').click(function() { $('#some_select_box option:selected').remove(); }); but this doesn't: $('#some_select_box').click(function() { $('this option:selected').remove(); }); I just want to use "this" instead of spelling out the id of the select box - can someone point me in the right direction for the correct syntax? It's driving me mad because it looks like it should be really simple. And I'm sure it is to someone, but not me, cos its the end of the day and I'm brain-fried... Any pointers much appreciated. Cheers

  • Fade between looped background images using jQuery

    - by da5id
    I'm trying to get the background image of a legacy div (by which I mean it already has a background image, which I cannot control & thus have to initially over-write) to smoothly fade between new images indefinitely. Here's what I have so far: var images = [ "/images/home/19041085158.jpg", "/images/home/19041085513.jpg", "/images/home/19041085612.jpg" ]; var counter = 0; setInterval(function() { $(".home_banner").css('backgroundImage', 'url("'+images[counter]+'")'); counter++; if (counter == images.length) { counter = 0; } }, 2000); Trouble is, it's not smooth (I'm aiming for something like the innerfade plugin). EDIT: question originally said "and it's not indefinite (it only runs once through the array).", but Mario corrected my stupid naming error. EDIT2: I'm now using Reigel's answer (see below), which works perfectly, but I still can't find any way to fade between the images smoothly. All help greatfully appreciated :)

  • jquery scope issue

    - by matthewb
    I am having issue with the following: I can't seem to keep the link I am selecting in each repeated item. The word "this" is getting lost. the Var event_id works for each element, but the var $something is undefined? Why is that, Ideally I wanted to do a switch statement but same issue, can't seem to get it to know what link I click and the elements around it to do the action. Updated Full Function: function rsvp (selector,function_url) { $(selector).livequery('click',function(){ var $select = $(selector).attr('rel'); var $event_id= $(this).parents('ul.event-options').attr('rel'); if ($select == "attending") { $(this).closest('span.rsvp-status').html("I'm Attending &ndash; <a href='javascript:;' class='remove' rel='remove'>Remove</a>"); var $something = $(this).parents('ul.event-options').attr('rel'); alert($something); } if ($select == "remove") { $(this).closest('span.rsvp-status').html("Not Attending &ndash; <a href='javascript:;' class='rsvp' rel='attending'>RSVP?</a>"); } if ($select == "interested") { $(this).closest('li').addClass('interested'); $(this).closest('li').removeClass('not-interested'); $(this).closest('li').html("You're Interested"); } $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/events/set_member/"+function_url, data: "event_id="+$event_id, beforeSend: function() { $("<span class='notice'>Updating...</span>").prependTo('body'); }, complete: function() { $('span.notice').fadeOut(500); } }); }); } rsvp ('a.rsvp','rsvp'); rsvp ('a.interests','interested'); rsvp ('a.remove','remove'); HTML <ul class="event-options" rel="<?=$event['event_id']?>"> <?php if($event['rsvp_total'] > 0) { ?> <!-- Show Only When Count is Greater than 0 --> <li class="group"><span class="total"><?= $event['rsvp_total']?></span>Interested </li> <?php } ?> <li class="rsvp"><span class="rsvp-status"> Not Attending &ndash; <a href="javascript:;" class="rsvp" rel="attending">RSVP?</a></span></li> <li class="not-interested"> <a href="javascript:;" class="interests" rel="interested"> Interested? </a> </li> <li class="place"><span><a href="<?=$place_path.$event['place_id']?>"><?=$event['place_name']?></a></span></li> <li class="share" rel="<?=$event['event_name']?>"> <a class="sharethis"></a> </li> </ul>

  • jQuery Draggable and overflow issue

    - by Phill Duffy
    I am having an undesired effect when I drag a div from a container div which is set as overflow: scroll. I have found an example of someone else where they have had the issue but I have been unable to find a resolution Example on Paste bin What happens is that the scroll is just increased, I can see why this would be the desired behaviour if you wanted to drag to a destination within the scrollable div but I want to be able to take it outside of its scrolling grasp. Thanks, Phill

  • jQuery: Setting 'style' attribute of element with object

    - by JamesBrownIsDead
    I saw this in our codebase the other day: link.attr('style', map({ color: '#9a4d9e', cursor: 'default' })); map is defined as: function map(map) { var cssValue = []; for (var o in map) { cssValue.push(o + ':' + map[o] + ';') } return cssValue.join(';'); } Is map necessarily? Is there a shorter way to do this? It's important to note that the "style" attribute overrides any styles set by a class added/defined in the "class" attribute.
