  • Why does my Sax Parser produce no results after using InputStream Read?

    - by Andy Barlow
    Hello, I have this piece of code which I'm hoping will be able to tell me how much data I have downloaded (and soon put it in a progress bar), and then parse the results through my Sax Parser. If I comment out basically everything above the //xr.parse(new InputSource(request.getInputStream())); line and swap the xr.parse's over, it works fine. But at the moment, my Sax parser tells me I have nothing. Is it something to do with is.read (buffer) section? Also, just as a note, request is a HttpURLConnection with various signatures. /*Input stream to read from our connection*/ InputStream is = request.getInputStream(); /*we make a 2 Kb buffer to accelerate the download, instead of reading the file a byte at once*/ byte [ ] buffer = new byte [ 2048 ] ; /*How many bytes do we have already downloaded*/ int totBytes,bytes,sumBytes = 0; totBytes = request.getContentLength () ; while ( true ) { /*How many bytes we got*/ bytes = is.read (buffer); /*If no more byte, we're done with the download*/ if ( bytes <= 0 ) break; sumBytes+= bytes; Log.v("XML", sumBytes + " of " + totBytes + " " + ( ( float ) sumBytes/ ( float ) totBytes ) *100 + "% done" ); } /* Parse the xml-data from our URL. */ // OLD, and works if comment all the above //xr.parse(new InputSource(request.getInputStream())); xr.parse(new InputSource(is)) /* Parsing has finished. */; Can anyone help me at all?? Kind regards, Andy

  • How do I DYNAMICALLY cast in C# and return for a property

    - by ken-forslund
    I've already read threads on the topic, but can't find a solution that fits. I'm working on a drop-down list that takes an enum and uses that to populate itself. i found a VB.NET one. During the porting process, I discovered that it uses DirectCast() to set the type as it returns the SelectedValue. See the original VB here: http://jeffhandley.com/archive/2008/01/27/enum-list-dropdown-control.aspx the gist is, the control has Type _enumType; //gets set when the datasource is set and is the type of the specific enum The SelectedValue property kind of looks like (remember, it doesn't work): public Enum SelectedValue //Shadows Property { get { // Get the value from the request to allow for disabled viewstate string RequestValue = this.Page.Request.Params[this.UniqueID]; return Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true) as _enumType; } set { base.SelectedValue = value.ToString(); } } Now this touches on a core point that I think was missed in the other discussions. In darn near every example, folks argued that DirectCast wasn't needed, because in every example, they statically defined the type. That's not the case here. As the programmer of the control, I don't know the type. Therefore, I can't cast it. Additionally, the following examples of lines won't compile because c# casting doesn't accept a variable. Whereas VB's CType and DirectCast can accept Type T as a function parameter: return Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true); or return Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true) as _enumType; or return (_enumType)Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true) ; or return Convert.ChangeType(Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true), _enumType); or return CastTo<_enumType>(Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true)); So, any ideas on a solution? What's the .NET 3.5 best way to resolve this?

  • NullPointerException in NetBeans 6.5 IDE itself

    - by titaniumdecoy
    When I use NetBeans for almost any task (in particular, attempting to open a project), a red minus sign in the bottom right corner of the IDE starts blinking and I get the following NullPointerException error when I click it. • Entity Framework EntityKey / Foreign Key problem.

    - by Ronny176
    Hi, I keep getting the same error: Entities in 'VlaamseOverheidMeterEntities.ObjectMeter' participate in the 'FK_ObjectMeter_Meter' relationship. 0 related 'Meter' were found. 1 'Meter' is expected. I have the following table structure: Meter 1 <- * ObjectMeter * - 1 VO_Object It is always the same scenario: The first meter is added to the database, the second meter gives the error above. I have the following code in my manager: public List<string> addTemporary(string username, string meterNaam, string readingType, string parentID) { Meter meter = new Meter(); VO_Object voObject = objectManager.getObjectByID(parentID); ObjectMeter objMeter = new ObjectMeter(); meter.readingType = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(ReadingType), readingType); meter.isActive = true; meter.name = meterNaam; meter.startDate = DateTime.Now; meter.endDate = DateTime.Now.AddYears(6000); meter.uniqueIdentifier = "N/A"; meter.meterType = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(MeterType), "NA"); meter.meterCategory = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(MeterCategory), "NA"); meter.energyType = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(EnergyType), "NA"); meter.utilityType = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(UtilityType), "NA"); meter.unitOfMeasure = (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(UnitOfMeasure), "NA"); objMeter.valid_from = meter.startDate; objMeter.valid_until = meter.endDate; objMeter.Meter = meter; objMeter.VO_Object = voObject; createMeter(meter); List<String> str = new List<string>(); str.Add("" + meter.meterID); str.Add(meter.name); return str; } and this in my Dao Class which links to the database: internal void CreateMeter(Meter _meter) { _entities.AddToMeter(_meter); _entities.SaveChanges(); } Can someone please explain this error?   • DataBinding: 'System.String' does not contain a property with the name 'dbMake'.

    - by marcmiki
    Hi , i am a newbie at ASP.net and after using sqldatasource with a listview to insert and show results from an SQL server db i want to try using the LINQ datasource since it seems to be more flexible in codebehind. My problem is this: i droped a listview control to the page and i created the Linq datasource in codebehind with vb. the issue that i am having when i ..Select d.columms name i get the error system.string does not contain a property with the name "columname".. if i ommit the column name then its works fine.. the funny part is the d.count works fine but after that i get the error.. please see my code below: vb code Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim rowsCount As Integer Dim showSearchForm As String showSearchForm = Request.QueryString("tab") If showSearchForm = "1" Then Dim db As New ASPNETDBDataContext() Dim q = From b In db.PassengerVehiclesTables Select b.dbMake rowsCount = q.Count MsgBox(rowsCount) lvMakes.DataSource = q lvMakes.DataBind() PnlPassengerVehiclesSearch.Visible = True ElseIf showSearchForm = "2" Then aspx code <asp:Panel ID="PnlPassengerVehiclesSearch" Visible="false" runat="server"> Search Passenger Vehicles Form.....<br /> <table style="width: 100%; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px"> <tr> <td> <asp:ListView ID="lvMakes" runat="server"> <LayoutTemplate> <asp:PlaceHolder runat="server" ID="itemPlaceholder" /> </LayoutTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <%#Eval("dbMake")%><br /> </ItemTemplate> </asp:ListView> </td> b.dbMake needs to work so that i can use Distinct ,, ia m using asp.net version:3.5 and IIS version 7.0 .. not sure what i am missing ,, but i did try alot of approaches,,1- checked the web.config file and it seems to have two assemblies and two namespaces for LINQ..2- used different databinding syntaxs,,and i searched a lot for the solution.. the last one i read the person ommited the name of the column,, i thought that wasnt the best solution.. also my dbMake column is comming up in the "intellisence" .. thank you in advance for your help..

  • OSX, G/AWK, Bash - "illegal statement, unterminated string" and no file output.

    - by S1syphus
    I have a script that somebody from SO kindly provided to solve an issue I was having, However, I'm having some issues getting it to work on OSX. gawk --version GNU Awk 3.1.6 awk --version awk version 20100208 The original source is: awk -F, -vOFS=, -vc=1 ' NR == 1 { for (i=1; i<NF; i++) { if ($i != "") { g[c]=i; f[c++]=$i } } } NR>2 { for (i=1; i < c; i++) { print $1,$2, $g[i] > "output_"f[i]".csv } }' data.csv When I run the script it gives the following error: awk: syntax error at source line 12 context is print $1,$2, $g[i] > >>> "output_"f <<< [i]".csv awk: illegal statement at source line 13 From the look of it the variable of [i] isn't been amended to the output file, but I don't know why. If I change AWK to GAWK and run the original script here is the output: gawk: cmd. line:11: print $1,$2, $g[i] > "output_"f[i]".csv gawk: cmd. line:11: ^ unterminated string So I edit the relevant line to fix the unterminated string print $1,$2, $g[i] > "output_"f[i]".csv" Then it runs through fine produces no errors, but there is no output files. Any ideas? I spent the majority of last night and this morning pouring over this. • Is there a built-in jQuery function for encoding a string as HTML?

    - by Ben McCormack
    Is there a built-in jQuery function for encoding a string as HTML? I'm trying to take the text a user types into a text box and then put that text into a different area of the page. My plan was to take the .val() from the text box and supply that to the .html() of the <div> element. Perhaps there's a good jQuery plugin to help with this (if it's not built-in) or a better way overall to accomplish this goal.

  • Python code to use a regular expression to make sure a string is alphanumeric plus . - _

    - by Warlax
    Hi, I looked and searched and couldn't find what I needed although I think it should be simple (if you have any Python experience, which I don't). Given a string, I want to verify, in Python, that it contains ONLY alphanumeric characters: a-zA-Z0-9 and . _ - examples: Accepted: bill-gates Steve_Jobs Micro.soft Rejected: Bill gates -- no spaces allowed [email protected] -- @ is not alphanumeric I'm trying to use: if re.match("^[a-zA-Z0-9_.-]+$", username) == True: But that doesn't seem to do the job...

    Exact Duplicate Timespan formatting First question here: I have two DateTime vars, beginTime and endTime. I have gotten the difference of them by doing the following: TimeSpan dateDifference = endTime.Subtract(beginTime); How can I now return a string of this in hh hrs, mm mins, ss secs format using C#. If the difference was 00:06:32.4458750 It should return this 00 hrs, 06 mins, 32 secs Thanks for the help

  • Ho to convert classname as string to a class ?

    - by Roland Bengtsson
    I have classnames in a stringlist. For example it could be 'TPlanEvent', 'TParcel', 'TCountry' etc. Now I want to find out the sizes by looping the list. It works to have: Size := TCountry.InstanceSize; But I want it like this: for i := 0 to ClassList.Count - 1 do Size := StringToClass(ClassList[i]).InstanceSize; Obviously my question is what to write instead of method StringToClass to convert the string to a class.

  • Program crash on deque from queue

    - by SwedishGit
    My first question asked here, so please excuse if I fail to include something... I'm working on a homework project, which basically consists of creating a "Jukebox" (importing/exporting albums from txt files, creating and "playing" a playlist, etc.). I've become stuck on one point: When "playing" the playlist, which consists of a self-made Queue, a copy of it is made from which songs are dequeued and printed out with a time delay. This appears to run fine on the first run through the program, but if the "play" option is chosen again (with the same playlist, created from a different menu option), it crashes before managing to print the first song. It also crashes if creating a new playlist, but then it manages to print some songs (seem to depend on the number of songs in the first/new playlists...) before crashing. With printouts I've been able to track the crashing down to being on the "item = n-data" call in the deque function... but can't get my head around why this would crash. Below is the code I think should be relevant... let me know if there are other parts that would help if I include. Edit: The Debug Error shown on crash is: R6010 abort() has been called The method to play from the playlist: void Jukebox::playList() { if(songList.getNodes() > 0) { Queue tmpList(songList); Song tmpSong; while(tmpList.deque(tmpSong)) { clock_t temp; temp = clock () + 2 * CLOCKS_PER_SEC ; while (clock() < temp) {} } } else cout << "There are no songs in the playlist!" << endl; } Queue: // Queue.h - Projekt-uppgift // Håkan Sjölin 2014-05-31 //----------------------------------------------------------------------------- #ifndef queue_h #define queue_h #include "Song.h" using namespace std;
