• Ubuntu 12.10 64 bits not booting on a Dell Inspiron 15z Puissance (French) in UEFI mode

  When trying to start Ubuntu from my USB key in UEFI mode (it works in Legacy mode, but I have to keep Windows) on a Dell Inspiron 15z , Grub starts, but when I choose any option, I get a black screen and my USB key stop teling me it is being read. EDIT: when using the legacy mode and trying to install Ubuntu, I get a blank partition table with Ubiquity… … and a very strange partition table from GParted (I have a hybrid 32Go SSD + 500Go HDD disk) :

• Can't mount UBS flash drives or my CD/DVD drives

  How can I fix the permissions to get rid of the following error and mount my USB and internal CD/DVD drive: Adding read ACL for uid 1000 to `/media/bret' failed: Operation not supported These drives worked fin in 12.04, but I apparently now don't have permissions to mount these drives in 12.10. I tried chmod in Terminal, but I couldn't enter as the superuser, so I seem to be stuck. Please help! Thanks

• Scientific evidence that supports using long variable names instead of abbreviations?

  Is there any scientific evidence that the human brain can read and understand fully written variable names better/faster than abbreviated ones? Like PersistenceManager persistenceManager; in contrast to PersistenceManager pm; I have the impression that I get a better grasp of code that does not use abbreviations, even if the abbreviations would have been commonly used throughout the codebase. Can this individual feeling be backed up by any studies?

• Does Ubuntu run on current Asus Transformer Prime?

• Server Systems for SQL Server 2012 per core licensing

  Until recently, the SQL Server Enterprise Edition per processor (socket) licensing model resulted in only 2 or 3 server system configurations being the preferred choice. Determine the number of sockets: 2, 4 or 8. Then select the processor with the most compute capability at that socket count level. • SQL Server 2008 R2: StreamInsight changes at RTM: Access to grouping keys via explicit typing

  One of the problems that existed in the CTP3 edition of StreamInsight was an error that occurred if you tried to access the grouping key from within your projection expression.
