The same example tested in IE8, FF and Chrome behaves exactly as expected. I've already tried updating the element's class but this does not work if the browser's window has been opened maximized and no further size changes were made to the window (which is about 90% of the use cases we have for our product.... :( ) I'm stuck with a CSS-based solution however I think that I can make an exception in this case if it can easily be made IE7-specific (which means that other browsers will behave in a standard way with this). Please help!

  • SIFR 3.0 - Font Size

    I have been working with SIFR 3.0 for some time now and the font-size never seems to work correctly. I understand the most basic concepts behind SIFR. SIFR runs when you load the page. It does some calculations one the size of the HTML rendered font and then replaces it with a flash movie that is roughly equal to that size. Because of this, you want to style your HTML font to match the size of your SIFR font as close as possible. My problem always comes up when trying to style these two font sizes to match. Let's say I want to use a SIFR font of Helvetica Neue Lt at about 32px. The HTML equivalent is something like Arial Narrow at about 36px with some negative letter spacing. So here is what I do. In sifr.css I'll write: @media screen { .sIFR-active h1 { visibility: hidden; z-index: 0 !important; font-size: 36px; } } Great, that gets the default HTML font the size I need. Now I need to update the flash SIFR font size. So I go into sifr-config.js and write something like this: sIFR.replace(HelveticaNeueThinCond, { selector: 'h1', css: '.sIFR-root { color: #762123; font-size: 32px; line-height: 1em; }', transparent: true }); So right now everything is working great. That is until my h1 text wraps more than one line. For some reason, when the text wraps it only shows the first line. It seems calculates the height wrong. This is very weird because I ran some tests. I took "visibility: hidden" off of "sIFR-active h1" to make sure that the HTML rendered text was the right size. It is, it takes up two lines. However, when the Flash replaces this text it gives it a min-height of one line of text. Odd. The only way I could find to fix this wrapping problem was to remove "font-size: 32px;" from "sIFR.replace(HelveticaNeueThinCond" in sifr-config. The problem I run into then is that it inherits the font-size set in sifr.css. Now the problem is that my HTML text is bigger then the SIFR text. So occasional my HTML text will wrap to a new line before my SIFR text leaving a big white space. So, how do I set two different font-size (one for my HTML text and one for my SIFR) without losing the wrapping. The only time I have been able to use the successfully is when I have a SIFR font that is so similar to a web safe font that they can share the same font-size attribute. Thanks

  • How do I convert a Linux disk image into a sparse file?

    I have a bunch of disk images, made with ddrescue, on an EXT partition, and I want to reduce their size without losing data, while still being mountable. How can I fill the empty space in the image's filesystem with zeros, and then convert the file into a sparse file so this empty space is not actually stored on disk? For example: > du -s --si --apparent-size Jimage.image 120G Jimage.image > du -s --si Jimage.image 121G Jimage.image This actually only has 50G of real data on it, though, so the second measurement should be much smaller. This supposedly will fill empty space with zeros: cat /dev/zero > zero.file rm zero.file But if sparse files are handled transparently, it might actually create a sparse file without writing anything to the virtual disk, ironically preventing me from turning the virtual disk image into a sparse file itself. :) Does it? Note: For some reason, sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=./zero.file works when cat does not on a mounted disk image.

  • UITouch Event Propagation To Background UIViews

    I'm having troubles getting any UIView that's not the foreground UIView to receive UITouch events. I'm building an all-Core Graphics-app, so I'm not using any built in UIViews or IB or anything - everything is programmatically constructed and drawn into. Here's my view hierarchy: Root View Type A Container Type A View Type A View Type A View Type B Container Type B View Type B View Type B View The containers are just vanilla UIView objects that I create programmatically and add instances of Type A and B to when they're created. I did this originally to make hitTesting easier—Type A objects can be drag-and-dropped onto Type B objects. Type A objects receive touch events fine, but Type B objects (which are contained by Type B Container which is behind Type A Container) don't receive touch events. Both containers occupy the entire screen; they're basically just convenience containers. If I pull Type B Container to the front (eg [self.view bringSubviewToFront:Type B Container]) it receives events properly, but then the Type A Container doesn't get events. How do I propagate events from the view that's on top? Both views occupy the entire screen, so it makes sense that the top-most view is catching the events, but how should I get it to pass those events on to Type B Container? I could inject some code in the container that passes the touch events back to the main ViewController which can pass them on to Type B Container but that feels really messy to me. Is there a nicer way to not have the Type A Container stop propagation? What's the best practice here?

  • Add Image to Base64 Encoded ImageStream in Resources (resx)

    I'm working on an older project, updating it. Part of the program has a toolstrip with many buttons on it, each with an image. I found that the images are stored in a Base64 encoded imagestream in the resx for the form and accessed as such: System.ComponentModel.ComponentResourceManager resources = new System.ComponentModel.ComponentResourceManager(typeof(Form1)); ... this.imageList1 = new System.Windows.Forms.ImageList(this.components); ... this.toolStrip1.ImageList = this.imageList1; ... this.imageList1.ImageStream = ((System.Windows.Forms.ImageListStreamer)(resources.GetObject("imageList1.ImageStream"))); ... this.toolStripButton1.ImageIndex = 0; //There are 41 images, so this can be between 0 and 40 I need to add another button with a new image. How can I add an image to this stream? I cannot use the designer, as it crashes as soon as I load the form (I believe because it uses a custom component with unsafe code). I could always just add a new image resource separate from the stream, but that would make that one button different and thus it would create problems with consistency, causing upkeep problems later. So I'm wondering if there is any way for me to edit the imagestream. I can access the raw base64 string, but I have no idea where to go from here.

    I have a big div, and a small button inside the div. When the div is clicked, I want it to do something. When the button is clicked, I want it to do something else. $('#myDiv').click(OnDivClicked); $('#myButton').click(OnButtonClicked); Currently when the button is clicked, both OnDivClicked and OnButtonClicked are fired. How do you prevent OnDivClicked getting fired when the button is clicked? Thanks in advance.

  • [JavaScript-CSS-Firefox] Cannot change borderColor of TD

    Using JS to set the background color of a TD is fine. But, setting the border color is problematic in FF 3.0.18 although IE 6 doesn't experience this. FF is problematic in that it requires the TD element to have an attribute style initialized to border-style: solid. Without that, setting border color of a TD won't work. Is this known bug? How do I set the border color without having to set style attribute as well as the initialization value? I know another trick of setting the class attribute instead of setting the border color directly. Is this an indication that somehow TD hates having its border color set dynamically? Is this known as well?   • IE6 Hacks: Getting jQuery tools expose to work properly on my site

    Hi, I am trying to get the jQuery tools 'expose' function to work properly in IE6. The page is http://204.51.246.10:12123/ You will need IE6 to reproduce the bug (obviously :)). If you click 'Sign In' on the top-right corner (below the 'Join Today!' button), you will notice that the sign in panel (fieldset#login-controls) is getting covered by the background of its parent element (.signinPanel), which is very weird. It is not on the top of z-index, and I can't figure out why. Please note that in order to get fieldset#login-controls positioned correctly, I have applied the following hack for IE6: $("#header, #header div, #header table, #header td, #header tr").css("position", "static"); $("fieldset#login-controls *").css("position", "static"); This might be the reason for the above.   • JDBC connection for a background thread being closed accessing in Websphere

    Hi, I have an application running in Websphere Portal Server inside of Websphere Application Server 6.0 (WAS). In this application for one particular functionality that takes a long time to complete, I am firing a new thread that performs this action. This new thread opens a new Session from Hibernate and starts performing DB transactions with it. Sometimes (haven't been able to see a pattern), the transactions inside the thread work fine and the process completes successfully. Other times however I get the errors below: org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: could not load an entity: [OBJECT NAME#218294] ... Caused by: com.ibm.websphere.ce.cm.ObjectClosedException: DSRA9110E: Connection is closed. Method cleanup failed while trying to execute method cleanup on ManagedConnection WSRdbManagedConnectionImpl@642aa0d8 from resource jdbc/MyJDBCDataSource. Caught exception: com.ibm.ws.exception.WsException: DSRA0080E: An exception was received by the Data Store Adapter. See original exception message: Cannot call 'cleanup' on a ManagedConnection while it is still in a transaction.. How can I stop this from happening? Why does it seem that WAS wants to kill my connections even though they're not done. Is there a way I can stop WAS from attempting to close this particular connection? Thanks

So far I have a CSS class for normal and a CSS class for when you hover each item in the list. I want to have a new class for when each list item is selected. So for example in services, the user clicks on "family planning" and when they get to the family planning page....the family planning list item has a grey background.     Hello, I am trying to create a simple Android application that has a ActivityList of information, when the application starts, I plan to start a Service that will be constantly calculating the data (it will be changing) and I want the ActivityList to be in sync with the data that the service is calculating for the life of the app. How can I set up my Activity to be listening to the Service? Is this the best way to approach this problem? For example, if you imagine a list of stock prices - the data would be being changed regularly and need to be in sync with the (in my case) Service that is calculating/fetching the data constantly.     Hi, Im loading an image from a SQL CE db and then trying to load that into a PictureBox. I am saving the image like this: if (ofd.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) { picArtwork.ImageLocation = ofd.FileName; using (System.IO.FileStream fs = new System.IO.FileStream(ofd.FileName, System.IO.FileMode.Open)) { byte[] imageAsBytes = new byte[fs.Length]; fs.Read(imageAsBytes, 0, imageAsBytes.Length); thisItem.Artwork = imageAsBytes; fs.Close(); } } and then saving to the Db using LINQ To SQL. I load the image back like so: using (FileStream fs = new FileStream(@"C:\Temp\img.jpg", FileMode.CreateNew ,FileAccess.Write )) { byte[] img = (byte[])encoding.GetBytes(ThisFilm.Artwork.ToString()); fs.Write(img, 0, img.Length); } but am getting an OutOfMemoryException. I have read that this is a slight red herring and that there is probably something wrong with the filetype, but i cant figure what. Any ideas?     How do you rotate an image with the canvas html5 element from the bottom center angle? Any idea? Edit: in the end the object (space ship) has to rotate like a clock pointer, as if it is turning right/left.

    Note: CSS novice here. Be gentle. ;-) I have the following CSS: ... -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0px 0px 2px #a00; -moz-box-shadow: inset 0px 0px 2px #a00; ... Now I am trying to extract that color to make the page colors "skinnable". Is there any way of doing this? Simply removing the color, and then using the same key again later overwrites the original rule. There doesn't seem to be a -webkit-box-shadow-color, at least Google turns nothing up.

  • Javascript incapable of getting element's max-height via element.style.maxHeight

    I am making a simple accordion menu in javascript. I'd like to be able to set the compact and expanded heights for the elements via the css max-height and min-height values. For some reason, when I try to retrieve the min-height and max-height of the elements in javascript for animation purposes, I get an empty string rather than, for instance, "500px" like it should. The max-height value is set in css, e.g. #id { min-height: 40px; max-height: 500px; } is all set up, but when I put a debugging mechanism in my javascript such as alert( item.style.minHeight ); it pops up an empty alert box. This happens in Firefox 3.6.2 and IE 8. Does anybody know why javascript refuses to be able to get an element's minHeight and maxHeight?

  • Style Switcher & Text Resizer Combined?

    Hi there, I've came across various style switchers that allow you to change the stylesheet (i.e. Light, Dark, High Contrast), and carious text-resizers that allow you to resize the test (usually with Three A's, small, medium and large). However, I can't seem to find a single switcher/resizer that works well together by allowing permutations of the two. i.e. so the user can choose a dark background with small text, or a dark background with large text, etc. I can only seem to get this working where the user can choose one or the other styles (large text or High Contrast, not a combination of the two). Any ideas on anything that may be suitable for this at all? Thanks, Stephen

    Hello all, I'm trying to parse some returned html to look for currently playing movies. The pattern I'm trying to match looks like: <span dir=ltr>Clash of the Titans</span> Of which there are several in the returned html. (the html is huge, I've posted a sample at the bottom) I'm trying get an array of the movie titles with the following command: titles = listings_html.split(/(<span dir=ltr>).*(<\/span>)/) But I'm not getting the results I'm expecting. Can anyone see a problem with my approach or regex?
