  • Removing email activation from restful_authentication plugin

    - by allesklar
I have a Rails app handling authentication with the restful_authentication plugin. I'm experiencing problems with the email activation feature and before I deal with that I would like to just allow my users to register without having to go through the email activation process. How do I disable the email activation feature. Rails 2.2.3 Restful_authentication

  • Help debugging Apache, Passenger and Rails problem

    - by Matt Dressel
We have an environment running that uses Apache, Passenger and rails. The system is handling most request normally, yet certain requests do not make it to the rails application. For instance, a request to /books is successful, but /books/1 hits apache and passenger, but does not even make it to rails. We set the apache log level to debug and the passenger log level to 3 so that we could monitor all incoming requests. We could see each request coming through and even the /books/1 request is being handled by passenger. But it never gets to rails. Is there any way to determine where the request goes between Passenger and rails or where debugging information might live? Has anyone ever seen any problems with passenger spawning or queuing? We have spawning set to conservative. Also, we have had some permission/ownership problems in the past, so I am not ruling this out yet. Thanks in advance

  • Rails editing multiple records at once

    - by Joseph Silvashy
    I feel like this might be really simple but I'm just not getting it right, so I have like a settings page in my app and I want each setting to be like a key value store, for example: +-------------------+--------------------------------+ | setting | value | +-------------------+--------------------------------+ | twitter_username | something | +-------------------+--------------------------------+ | facebook_url | http://facebook.com/someguy | +-------------------+--------------------------------+ My form looks something like this: <% form_tag set_admin_settings_path, :method => :put do %> <ol> <% for setting in @settings %> <li class="field"> <label><%= setting.setting_name.humanize %></label> <%= text_field_tag "[setting_value][]", setting.setting_value %> </li> <% end %> <li class="submit"> <%= submit_tag "Update settings" %> </li> </ol> <% end %> Everything renders fine but when I try to save the form, nothing is saved :(

  • heroku logs --ps run showign nothing

    - by Zarne Dravitzki
I have two running apps on heroku staging and production. They are near identical enviornments. (Staging has extra configs IE RailsFootnotes, Bullet gem) When I run heroku logs --ps run --app jl-staging Returns as logs like 2012-08-30T01:30:42+00:00 heroku[run.1]: Starting process with command `bundle exec rake jewellover:warn_users` This log is a Task set to run with Heroku Schedular Free. Everything Works perfect but when I do the same with heroku logs --ps run --app jl-production There are no results. No heroku[run.1] process logs. Both environments have the same scheduled tasks, albeit at different times but none the less both run scheduled tasks at specified times. Is there something im missing about heroku[run.1] processes in production env? Does heroku only keep the -ps logs for a certain amount of time? It seems to show less activity than the normal logs. Maybe only show 24hrs worth of logs rather than Last 100 logs... I need to log and debug the [run.1] process from the production env... specifically the jewellover:warn_users task. any ideas?

Line 0 Do you have any idea how to fix JS problems, or should I disable the ads in development?

  • Initialize child models at model creation

    - by Antoine
I have a model Entree which belongs to a model Vin, which itself belongs to a model Producteur. On the form for Entree creation/edition, I want to allow the user to define the attributes for parent Vin and Producteur to create them, or retrieve them if they exist (retrieval based on user input). For now I do the following in Entree new and edit actions: @entree = Entree.new @entree.vin = Vin.new @entree.vin.producteur = Producteur.new and use fields_for helper in the form, and that works. But I intend to have much more dependencies with more models, so I want to keep it DRY. I defined a after_initialize callback in Vin model which does the producteur initialization: class Vin < ActiveRecord::Base after_initialize :vin_setup def vin_setup producteur = Producteur.new end end and remove the producteur.new from the controller. However, get an error on new action: undefined method `model_name' for NilClass:Class for the line in the form that says <%= fields_for @entree.vin.producteur do |producteur| %> I guess that means the after_initialize callback doesn't act as I expect it. Is there something I'm missing? Also, I get the same error if I define a after_initialize method in the Vin model instead of definiing a callback.

  • Rails Devise: How to access sign up page after signed in?

    - by Junior rails programmer
hi All, I am new with rails and i am using "devise" gem for authentication purposes. At first i add a new user through default sign up page (E.g./users/sign_up) Then, i made "sign_up" page only available to signed_in users by following instructions from Devise before filter that prevents access to "new_user_registration_path" unless user is signed-in Now, after sign in process when i try open sign up page it always directs me to root_path! How can i access sign up page? My "roots.rb" file as follows: Example::Application.routes.draw do devise_for :users, :controllers => { :registrations => 'registrations'} resources :companies resources :orders resources :customers root :to => "welcome#index" end Thank you all!

  • Fully custom validation error message with Rails

    - by marcgg
Using Rails I'm trying to get an error message like "The song field can't be empty" on save. Doing the following: validates_presence_of :song_rep_xyz, :message => "can't be empty" ... only displays "Song Rep XYW can't be empty", which is not good because the title of the field is not user friendly. How can I change the title of the field itself ? I could change the actual name of the field in the database, but I have multiple "song" fields and I do need to have specific field names. I don't want to hack around rails' validation process and I feel there should be a way of fixing that.

  • Problem with skipping login validation for authlogic

    - by Andrei
Hi, I want to use email for signing in, and to allow users to have similar names. One way to do this is to rename login/username field to something different. However, I want to do it just by setting up authlogic. I tried the following acts_as_authentic do |c| c.login_field :email c.validate_login_field false c.validate_email_field true end but it still complains that the login already exists. What must be done to avoid username validation without renaming the field?

  • Rails Named Scope and overlapping conditions

    - by Tumtu
    Hi everyone, have a question about rails SQL generation: class Organization < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :people named_scope :active, :conditions => { :active => 'Yes' } end class Person < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :organization end Rails SQL for all active people in the first organiztion Organization.first.people.active.all [4;36;1mOrganization Load (0.0ms)[0m [0;1mSELECT TOP 1 * FROM [organizations] [0m [4;35;1mPerson Load (0.0ms)[0m [0mSELECT * FROM [people] WHERE ((([people].[active] = 'Yes') AND ([people].organization_id = 1)) AND ([people].organization_id = 1)) [0m Why Rails generates "[people].organization_id = 1" condition twice ? Does someone know how to make it DRY ? e.g. SELECT * FROM [people] WHERE (([people].[active] = 'Yes') AND ([people].organization_id = 1))

  • how to change the value to a name depending on case

    - by ZeroSoul13
i've created a select button with 3 option <%= f.label :prioridad %><br/> <%= f.select :prioridad, options_for_select([['Alta', 1], ['Medio', 2], ['Baja', 3]]) %> The value gets inserted to the DataBase but when i display it i see the number op the option selected (which is correct). What i would like to know is how i can change that so on the index the user can see the name and not the value: def convertidor case llamada.prioridad when prioridad == '1' puts "Alta" when prioridad == '2' puts "Media" else puts "Baja" end end This didn't worked. • Format form fields for bootstrap using rails+nokogiri

    - by user1116573
I have the following in an initializer in a rails app that uses Twitter bootstrap so that it removes the div.field_with_errors that rails applies when validation fails on a field but also the initializer adds the help/validation text after the erroneous input field: require 'nokogiri' ActionView::Base.field_error_proc = Proc.new do |html_tag, instance| html = %(<div class="field_with_errors">#{html_tag}</div>).html_safe form_fields = [ 'textarea', 'input', 'select' ] elements = Nokogiri::HTML::DocumentFragment.parse(html_tag).css("label, " + form_fields.join(', ')) elements.each do |e| if e.node_name.eql? 'label' html = %(#{e}).html_safe elsif form_fields.include? e.node_name if instance.error_message.kind_of?(Array) html = %(#{e}<span class="help-inline">&nbsp;#{instance.error_message.join(',')}</span>).html_safe else html = %(#{e}<span class="help-inline">&nbsp;#{instance.error_message}</span>).html_safe end end end html end This works fine but I also need to apply the .error class to the surrounding div.control-group for each error. My initializer currently gives the following output: <div class="control-group"> <label class="control-label" for="post_message">Message</label> <div class="controls"> <input id="post_message" name="post[message]" required="required" size="30" type="text" value="" /><span class="help-inline">&nbsp;can't be blank</span> </div> </div> but I need something adding to my initializer so that it adds the .error class to the div.control-group like so: <div class="control-group error"> <label class="control-label" for="post_message">Message</label> <div class="controls"> <input id="post_message" name="post[message]" required="required" size="30" type="text" value="" /><span class="help-inline">&nbsp;can't be blank</span> </div> </div> The solution will probably need to allow for the fact that each validation error could have more than one label and input that are all within the same div.control-group (eg radio buttons / checkboxes / 2 text fields side by side). I assume it needs some sort of e.at_xpath() to find the div.control-group parent and add the .error class to it but I'm not sure how to do this. Can anyone help? PS This may all be possible using the formtastic or simple_form gems but I'd rather just use my own html if possible. EDIT If I put e['class'] = 'foo' in the if e.node_name.eql? 'label' section then it applies the class to the label so I think I just need to find the parent tag of e and then apply an .error class to it but I can't figure out what the xpath would be to get from label to its div.control-group parent; no combination of dots, slashes or whatever seems to work but xpath isn't my strong point.

  • Trouble mocking on cucumber + rails

    - by Lucas d. Prim
I'm having a lot of trouble trying to define a mock for a rails models on cucumber. It seems like the method is creating a bunch of message expectations and i keep getting errors like these: Given I have only a product named "Sushi de Pato" # features/step_definitions/product_ steps.rb:19 unexpected invocation: #<Mock:ProductCategory_1001>.__mock_proxy() unsatisfied expectations: - expected exactly once, not yet invoked: #<Mock:ProductCategory_1001>.errors(any_pa rameters) - expected exactly once, not yet invoked: #<Mock:ProductCategory_1001>.id(any_parame ters) - expected exactly once, not yet invoked: #<Mock:ProductCategory_1001>.to_param(any_ parameters) - expected exactly once, not yet invoked: #<Mock:ProductCategory_1001>.new_record?(a ny_parameters) - expected exactly once, not yet invoked: #<Mock:ProductCategory_1001>.destroyed?(an y_parameters) satisfied expectations: - allowed any number of times, not yet invoked: #<Mock:errors>.count(any_parameters) (Mocha::ExpectationError) I haven't yet implemented the ProductCategory class and I just want it to return an ID and a 'name' attribute. This is my step definition: Given /^I have only a product named "([^\"]*)"$/ do |name| @product = Product.create!(:name => name, :description => 'Foo', :price => 100, :points => 100, :category => mock_model(ProductCategory)) end And this is my env.rb file: $: << File.join(File.dirname(__FILE__),"..") require 'spec\spec_helper I am using RSPec 1.3.0, cucumber 0.6.3 and webrat 0.7.0 I've tried to use stubs as well but got some other errors instead...

  • Sharing authentication between forum and main CMS in Rails

    - by Newy
I have a Rails forum product that resides under the subdomains of my customers (i.e. http://forum.customer.com). Their main site has a CMS and an authentication system, and my forum product has a separate authentication system. Is there an elegant way to have "cross-signins" across these systems? I want someone already logged into the main CMS to seamlessly (as possible) transition into my product.

  • PayPal Payments Pro Sandbox requires membership?

    - by Kevin
Do I need to pay the $30 just to play around in the sandbox for Website Payments Pro? I'm trying to get Active Merchant working in Rails, and it's giving me an error "invalid merchant configuration"... after digging around a bit it says I need to "accept the billing agreement" and/or sign up for the Payments Pro first. So, do I need to pay the $30 just to test in sandbox? Or is there another workaround for this error?

  • where can I find the rake tasks delivered with rails

    - by ash34
I am looking for tasks like tmp:clear or db:migrate. Where can I find the code for these tasks. I remember seeing them before but don't recollect where. Also, is there a way I can set some global variables in a .rake file that can be accessed by all tasks in that file without passing them as arguments to each task. thanks, ash

  • Rails: Converting from MySQL to PostGres breaks Geokit Distance Calculations???

    - by Kevin
I recently switched my database from MySQL to PostGres. I also use GeoKit. When I started my app up with the new database already seeded, I get the following error: PGError: ERROR: function radians(character varying) does not exist LINE 1: ...COS(0.661045389762993)*COS(-2.12957994527573)*COS(RADIANS(ti... ^ HINT: No function matches the given name and argument types. You might need to add explicit type casts. Anyone know why this is breaking now? I know GeoKit still works because it's still performing the geocoding in the model per ticket when the database is seeded, it just won't do the distance calculations correctly.

  • habtm multiple times with the same model

    - by Ermin
I am trying to model a publications. A publication can have multiple authors and editors. Since it is possible that one person is an author of one publication and an editor of another, no separate models for Authors and Editors: class Publication < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :authors, :class_name=>'Person' has_and_belongs_to_many :editors, :class_name=>'Person' end The above code doesn't work, because it uses the same join table. Now I now that I can specify the name of the join table, but there is a warning in the API documentation is a warning about that which I don't understand: :join_table: Specify the name of the join table if the default based on lexical order isn’t what you want. WARNING: If you’re overwriting the table name of either class, the table_name method MUST be declared underneath any has_and_belongs_to_many declaration in order to work.
