    I installed ghostscript and updated the appropriate path variables ... however, I'm getting an error when I try to execute this command: C:\PROGRA~1\gs\gs8.64\lib>pdf2ps mydocument.pdf mydocument.ps Access is denied. Unable to open command line file _.at Is this the right command? did I miss some configuration or path setting? Otherwise, is there a sane method of doing this conversion? Thanks!

    I am attempting to move from a self hosting architecture to hosting under IIS 6, primarily to take advantage of built in dynamic compression. I am using the Castle DefaultServiceHostFactory to provide the service to IIS in the .svc file. However, I need to programmatically specify certain end points and behaviours and I do not know how to retrieve the current ServiceHost. Is this be possible, or should I just look at other methods of compression independent of IIS?

    For a simple simulation in C, I need to generate exponential random variables. I remember reading somewhere (but I can't find it now, and I don't remember why) that using the rand() function to generate random integers in a fixed range would generate non-uniformly distributed integers. Because of this, I'm wondering if this code might have a similar problem: //generate u ~ U[0,1] u = ( (double)rand() / ((double)(RAND_MAX)); //inverse of exponential CDF to get exponential random variable expon = -log(1-u) * mean; Thank you!

    Hi there, I have a program that needs to use sleep. Like really needs to. In lieu of spending ages explaining why, suffice to say that it needs it. Now I'm told to split off my code into a separate thread if it requires sleep so I don't lose interface responsiveness, so I've started learning how to use NSThread. I've created a brand new program that is conceptual so to solve the issue for this example will help me in my real program. Short story is I have a class, it has instance variables and I need a loop with a sleep to be depended on the value of that instance variable.     Is there a way to use visual studio's "add assembly reference dialog" (or something similar) in my own application? I need it for dynamic code generation and compilation. This is not simply an OpenFileDialog, since it additionally looks into the GAC and so on, so it will be very complicated to do it on my own, I think. If this is not possible, how can I get a list of all assemblies from the GAC?

  • code style for private methods in c#

    I just found out, that it seems a common pattern to user UpperFirstLetterPascalCase() for private methods. I for myself, find this completely inconsistent with naming rules of private instance fields and variables and I find it difficult to read/debug, too. I would want to ask, why using a first upper letter for methods could be a better choice than a first lower (doThis())? Just out of curiosity...

  • JNI issue: symbol lookup error by FileHandle in C++ DLL

    I made JNI functions and linked them with the c++ dynamic library successfully. I got all of them working just fine, but I had an issue for one function, I got symbol lookup error from the FileHandle class that I used in the c++ that I use to read data from file. Knowing that it's working on a normal c++ project, but not in the DLL. /usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.7.0/bin/java: symbol lookup error: /home/.../NetBeansProjects/TRIOGUI/dist/libNativeAdd.so: undefined symbol: _ZN5Gdsii9GdsParserC1EPKcN7SoftJin10FileHandle8FileTypeEN5boost8functionIFvS2_ESaIvEEE Java Result: 127 Can anybody help me please? :)

I'm looking for the same functionality like in Firebug (where you can enable "persistent" and the console is not cleared every time you reload a page or submit a form.   • Geben for emacs on Ubuntu 10.04

    I've had geben running perfectly on previous versions of Ubuntu. After the upgrade, and installing the latest version of geben (0.26), it only half works. Specifically, when in context mode, local variables are always marked as undefined. Has anybody successfully gotten geben up and running under Ubuntu 10.04, or is this a bug in geben (I've reported it as one, but thought I'd check here just in case there is a workaround). geben 0.26 xdebug 2.0.5 emacs 23.1.1 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.1 Thanks!

    I am using a custom database (MongoDB) with TG 2.1 and i am wondering where the proper place to store the PyMongo connection/database instances would be? Eg, at the moment they are getting created inside of my inherited instance of AppConfig. Is there a standard location to store this? Would shoving the variables into the project.model.__init__ be the best location, given that under SQLAlchemy, the database seems to commonly be retrieved via: from project.model import DBSession, metadata Anyway, just curious what the best practice is.
