in VB.NET How can i write a memory stream to browser.My memory stream object has data to build a PDF file.Now i want it to be rendered on browser.How to do that ? Thanks in advance
Hi.
After migrating my app to .NET 4 it's not starting. When i'm trying to load it in browser it endlessly loading it and nothing else happening. There is no errors or timeouts, just loading.
Please help. What should i do? What reasons there might be? I'm using IIS6 btw.
I am building a search page in asp.net 3.5. Search takes a bit of time (few seconds to few minutes). Current I use AsyncMethodCaller to call Search method. AsyncMethodCaller method stores search results in Session. I user Ajax timer to check if Search method finished and then display results.
What would be the best way to implement this scenario?
I am using ASP.net with C# and am looking for a tool that given a SQL table name, reads the table columns and populates an aspx form with controls (textboxes with matching labels). Something like ComponentOne InputPanel, except that this product only works for WinForms.
See demo of ComponentOne InputPanel:

I am looking for ways to store data in a windows form application in .NET.
I want to make the input data of a system persistent, so when I close my program and open it again, the data is retrieved.
Which ways are of doing this besides creating a linked database?
Examples are gladly appreciated
regards
The question I always wanted to ask and was afraid to, actually - what language is .NET Framework written in? I mean library itself.
It seems to me that it was C and C++ mostly. (I hope Jon Skeet is reading this one, it`ll be very interesting to hear what he thinks about it)
Can anybody recommend some quality ASP.NET hosting providers that allow you to multiple domains without making you use a "reseller" account or purchase multiple accounts. I really only need email accounts for one of the domains.
I'm looking for something about $20 to $45 USD.
I am writing web application using ASP.NET MVC + NHibernate + Postres stack. I wonder if images uploaded should be stored in database as binary blobs or on filesystem (and reference only in db).
One advantage of db storage I can think of is easy backup/recovery of all data without reverting to filesystem copy tools. On the other hand I suspect that filesystem access may be faster (but is it especially when dealing with many concurrent requests?)
What are your suggestions?
I have an ASP.NET page which utilizes jQuery for an autocomplete-type scenario. The jQuery tucks the actual selected values into a hidden field it creates on the fly, but for some reason I cannot get the value of that standard HTML field on postback by calling Request.Form["HiddenFieldName"]. I can see it by ordinal in the Request.Form object, but if I add/remove controls it will break. Any suggestions?
I'm having a lot of problems with FormsAuthentication (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2964342/problem-with-asp-net-authentication) and as as potential work around I'm thinking about storing the login in the Session?
Login:
Session["Auth.ClientId"] = clientId;
IsAuthenticated:
Session["Auth.ClientId"] != null;
Logout;
Session["Auth.ClientId"] == null;
I'm not really using most of the bells and whistles of FormsAuthentication anyway. Is this a bad idea?
Hi,
I've been using CruiseControl.NET for continuous integration and such. Now I want to be able to deploy projects with it. What is the preferred way of doing this? Do I make a new project which I 'Force Build' to deploy?
I really don't want to deploy on every successful commit.
Please share your thoughts.
I have page in my asp.net mvc website with a flash app on it, and the user can stay on that page for hours, but his auth cookie is going to expire, so I'm thinking to create a PingController and to call it using jquery $.post each 20 minutes.
is this a good idea ?
or there is something better ?
I want to use code access security and add code modify group. but I dont see .NET Configuration Tool in the administrator tools.

Assume you are taking over a legacy .NET app. pre - 3.0
What are the top 5 diagnostic measures, profiling or otherwise that you would employ to assess the health of the application?
i published an application in vb.net. the user will be able to install the application anywhere they choose on the computer (or perhaps not anywhere they choose but where ever the default location is). how can i programmatically get the location where the user installed the application? another words i need the application to know where it is running from. how do i detect that?
Hi Every One,
I'm thinking about making a subscription system.
The samples on the website I found to be difficult to follow because they are separated classes for very specific issues.
From what I understand (if I'm not wrong) the PayPal Recurring is the best choice for subscription system.
However I hope that you can help me to find a complete sample about PayPal Recurring using .NET.
For some reason it takes 7 seconds to open a connection to a sql server database for the firt time, subsequent connections takes a second. any idea what could be the reason?
I'm using C# and asp.net
Its after compilation, i essence every time i restart the site, which means every time it needs to actualy create the "first" connection. i understand that setting up connection pooling has overhead, but i have never seen that i should take 7 second to set it up.
What .NET method has this error message: "Object cannot be cast from DBNull to other types"
The stack traces have been stipped from my logs so I'm looking for a starting point.
I'm rendering a DropDownList in my Visual Studio 2005 ASP.NET code behind page out to an HtmlTextWriter, but when I try to add the SelectedIndexChanged event that doesn't get rendered.
Any ideas? Is this even possible?
I need to print the contents of a datagridview, simple text in rows and columns, with GDI+ in .NET to paper.
To do this, I need to iterate over the rows, draw lines, iterate over the columns, calculate width, height, wrap the contents if contents do not fit on one line, etc. This is all possible, but is there a library that simplifies the drawing of tables in GDI+ and abstracts some of the difficulties away?
I'm not getting to hang of the entire FormAuthentication thing. Is there an up-to-date tutorial somewhere? I found this one, but it a bit old and the syntax doesn't match recent Asp.Net MVC.
