• Read vector into CUDA shared memory

  I am new to CUDA and programming GPUs. I need each thread in my block to use a vector of length ndim. So I thought I might do something like this: extern __shared__ float* smem[]; ... if (threadIddx.x == 0) { for (int d=0; d<ndim; ++d) { smem[d] = vector[d]; } } __syncthreads(); ... This works fine. However, I seems wasteful that a single thread should do all loading, so I changed the code to if (threadIdx.x < ndim) { smem[threadIdx.x] = vector[threadIdx.x]; } __syncthreads(); which does not work. Why? It gives different results than the above code even when ndim << blockDim.x.

• Dataset field DBNull -> int?

  SQLServer int field. Value sometimes null. DataAdapter fills dataset OK and can display data in DatagridView OK. When trying to retrieve the data programmatically from the dataset the Dataset field retrieval code throws a StronglyTypedException error.   Hello I must create a custom media player within the application with support for mp3 and wav files. I read in the documentation i cant seek or get the media file duration without a custom datasoruce. I checked the demo in the JDE 4.6 but i have still problems... I cant get the duration, it return much more then the expected so i`m sure i screwed up something while i modified the code to read the mp3 file locally from the filesystem. Somebody can help me what i did wrong ? (I can hear the mp3, so the player plays it correctly from start to end) I must support OSs = 4.6. • Deadlock error in INSERT statement

  We've got a web-based application. There is a time-bound database operation (INSERTs and UPDATEs) in the application which takes more time to complete, hence this particular flow has been changed into Java Thread so it will not wait (block) for the complete database operation to be completed. My problem is, if more than 1 user come across this particular flow, I'm facing the following error thrown by PostgreSQL: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: deadlock detected Detail: Process 13560 waits for ShareLock on transaction 3147316424; blocked by process 13566. Process 13566 waits for ShareLock on transaction 3147316408; blocked by process 13560. Above error is consistently thrown in INSERT statements. Additional Information: 1) I have PRIMARY KEY defined in this table. 2) There are FOREIGN KEY references in this table. 3) Separate database connection is passed to each Java Thread.   Hi all, Directory.GetFiles method fails on the first encounter with a folder it has no access rights to. The method throws an UnauthorizedAccessException (which can be caught) but by the time this is done, the method has already failed/terminated. The code I am using is listed below: try { // looks in stated directory and returns the path of all files found getFiles = Directory.GetFiles(@directoryToSearch, filetype, SearchOption.AllDirectories); } catch (UnauthorizedAccessException) { } As far as I am aware, there is no way to check beforehand whether a certain folder has access rights defined. In my example, I'm searching on a disk across a network and when I come across a root access only folder, my program fails.   I am working on a project that involves gps data collection from many users (say 1000) every second (while they move). I am planning on using a dedicated database instance on EC2 with the mysql persistent block storage and run a ruby on rails application with nginx frontend. I haven't worked on such data collection application before. Am I missing something here? I will have a another instance which will act as application server and use the data from the same EBS. If anybody has dealt with such a system before, Any advise would be much appreciated?

  I'm developing a cms that allows editing everything on the page (generated server-side with a template engine) by just clicking on it — the area turns into input field, textarea or a full-featured tinyMCE editor, Template defines editable elements like "page heading", "copyright footer text", "image", "rich text block" etc. Along with that there's always a flotaing panel with several tabs, some of which contain general settings like page bacground color, font settings etc, but some are context sensitive (e.g., the clicking on "image" editable field triggers to display uploading/cropping/captioning interface in the floating panel). All settings in the panel are either simple inputs or sliders or checkboxes. I'm new to using MVC with javascript, and in fact haven't used it much before. jQuery is used as code library for the project. Should i use JavascriptMVC, SproutCore or anything else? Does any of them allow some kind of sandboxing (within bounds of commmon sense) to allow some javascript code by user-generated skins on my cms? thank you!

  I want to trap a signal send from Script-A.sh to Script-B.sh so in Script-A.sh i use the command (Send SIGINT to Script-B.sh) kill -2 $PID_Script-B.sh And in Script-B.sh i catch the signal and call function Clean trap 'Clean' 2 It does not work, instead the Script-B.sh is killed right away without performing the Clean !! What i notice also is that if i want to send SIGINT from terminal to any script that traps it, a ctrl-c will be catched correctly, but not if i specify the signal via the command kill -2 $pid_of_script Any idea about the difference between the two method to send the SIGINT (ctrl-c VS kill -2 $pid_of_script), and how i can send a SIGINT from a script to another ?   Hello, One way to increase scalability of the server application is to run IO-bound operation (reading files, sockets, web requests, database requests etc) asynchronously. This does not mean run then in the ThreadPool which will just block threads while operation is being executed. The correct way is to use asynchronous API (BeginRead, BeginGetResponse, BeginExecuteReader etc). The problem is well described in CLR vi C# book. • Load properties file in JAR?

  I'm having trouble when one of the jars that my web app depends on tries to load a properties file from within the jar. Here is the code in the jar. static { Properties props = new Properties(); try { props.load(ClassLoader.getSystemResourceAsStream("someProps.properties")); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } someProperty = props.getProperty("someKey"); } The properties file is in my "src/main/resources" directory of the Maven project. When I run this code from my junit test in Eclipse, it executes just fine. When the project is built with Maven into a jar, and included as a dependency in my webb app, it fails to locate the properties file. I know that the properties file is at the base directory of the depended on jar, I don't know how to fix this. Please help!

  How do I set up the MaskFormatter and the JFormattedTextField in order to allow partial matches? For example: I want the user to be able to enter numbers with this mask "## ###### ####", so if the user enters '123456789123' the formatter changes it to '12 345678 9123'.   If I have a console application, is there any way I can handle the following: Ctrl-C (I know the answer to this. Using Console.TreatControlCAsInput and Console.CancelKeyPress) Session termination, such as when someone logs off Process exit, such as when someone uses the task manager to close the application. I know that if I was writing a unix application, I would handle various signals to catch the request to close (SIGTERM from memory), but I also know I need to handle these messages pretty quickly and exit before the system does a kill -9 (SIGKILL). But for a C# console application, I'm not sure how to do this.

  Hi, I'm loading opengl 3d objects over the iphone camera view. When opengl view is loaded it's loading with a opengl 3d object with black background. The black background color will block the camera view.I just want to clear background color of opengl view so that I could load only the 3d object to the camera view. I had tried glclearcolor(1.0,1.0,1.0,0.0); but no change to background color. I had also tried to clear background color opengl view using [glview setbackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]];. No change in back ground color. Can any one help me with this stuff ? I'm new to opengl. Thanks in advance

  I use document.getElementById("text").value.length to get the string length through javascript, and mb_strlen($_POST['text']) to get the string length by PHP and both differs very much. Carriage returns are converted in javascript before getting the string length, but I guess some characters are not being counted. For example, [b]15. Umieszczanie obrazka z logo na stronie zespolu[/b] This block of text is calculated 57 in javascript and 58 in PHP. When the text gets long, the difference increases. Is there any way to overcome this?
