  • How is the "click to view more" function implemented?

    We often see websites that display first few lines of an article and then append ... [More] so that people who are interested in can click on it to view the full article. To implement this functionality, we first need to find out where the article text should be cut to append the ... [More]. Since there must be some HTML/ CSS coupled with the article text, we must remember to ignore them when calculating the length of the text. But there is something I just can't figure it out, if more than one language is mixed in the first few lines of the article text, the length of the text will be very difficult to calculate since the characters can be of variable length. How should we solve this problem?

    I want to split up a map into an array of maps. For example, if there is a map with 25 key/value pairs. I want an array of maps with no more than 10 elements in each map. How would I do this in groovy?   • Is there a Delphi standard function for escaping HTML?

    I've got a report that's supposed to take a grid control and produce HTML output. One of the columns in the grid can display any of a number of values, or <Any>. When this gets output to HTML, of course, it ends up blank. I could probably write up some routine to use StringReplace to turn that into &lt;Any&gt; so it would display this particular case correctly, but I figure there's probably one in the RTL somewhere that's already been tested and does it right. Anyone know where I could find it?

    Hi, I'm trying to add a JS fly to basket plugin to the site I'm working on, but the plugin needs unique productID numbers, is there a way to iterate this in Smarty when not in a foreach loop? Something like: {$smarty.foreach.foo.iteration} Here's the code I need to itrate: <span id="slidingProd57404045"> <a href="{link controller=order action=addToCart id=$product.ID returnPath=true}" rel="nofollow" class="addToCart" title="Bestill" onclick="addToBasket(57404045); return false;" id="fly_to_basket">&nbsp;</a> </span> The 57404045 needs to be iterated.     I often find myself wanting to collapse an n-dimensional matrix across one dimension, and can't figure out if there is a concise incantation I can use to do this. For example, when parsing an image, I often want to do something like this. (Note! Illustrative example only. I know about rgb2gray for this specific case.) img = imread('whatever.jpg'); s = size(img); for i=1:s(1) for j=1:s(2) bw_img = mean(img(i,j,:)); end end I would love to express this as something like: bw = on(color, 3, @mean); or bw(:,:,1) = mean(color); Is there a short way to do this?

    In Netbeans or in Eclipse, you can use "Find Usages" or "References" from the right click context menu. If a() calls b(), using the functionality from b() will show you a(). However, what I want is to be able to see some kind of tree or have an option to see all usages of a given/class or method, such that if z() calls a() that using the functionality will show both z() and a(). Any IDE plugins or external tools that can do this?

    I have a PlaceHolder control inside of a ListView that I am using to render controls from my code behind. The code below adds the controls: TextBox tb = new TextBox(); tb.Text = quest.Value; tb.ID = quest.ShortName.Replace(" ", ""); ((PlaceHolder)e.Item.FindControl("ph_QuestionInput")).Controls.Add(tb); I am using the following code to retrieve the values that have been entered into the TextBox: foreach (ListViewDataItem di in lv_Questions.Items) { int QuestionId = Convert.ToInt32(((HiddenField)di.FindControl("hf_QuestionId")).Value); Question quest = dc.Questions.Single(q => q.QuestionId == QuestionId); TextBox tb = ((TextBox)di.FindControl(quest.ShortName.Replace(" ",""))); //tb is always null! } But it never finds the control. I've looked at the source code for the page and the control i want has the id: ctl00_cphContentMiddle_lv_Questions_ctrl0_Numberofacres For some reason when I look at the controls in the ListViewDataItem it has the ClientID: ctl00_cphContentMiddle_lv_Questions_ctrl0_ctl00 Why would it be changing Numberofacres to ctl00? Is there any way to work around this? UPDATE: Just to clarify, I am databinding my ListView in the Page_Init event. I then create the controls in the ItemBound event for my ListView. But based on what @Womp and MSDN are saying the controls won't actually be created until after the Load event (which is after the Page_Init event) and therefore are not in ViewState? Does this sound correct? If so am I just SOL when it comes to retrieving the values in my dynamic controls from my OnClick event?

    The following two functions are extremely similar. They read from a [String] n elements, either [Int] or [Float]. How can I factor the common code out? I don't know of any mechanism in Haskell that supports passing types as arguments. readInts n stream = foldl next ([], stream) [1..n] where next (lst, x:xs) _ = (lst ++ [v], xs) where v = read x :: Int readFloats n stream = foldl next ([], stream) [1..n] where next (lst, x:xs) _ = (lst ++ [v], xs) where v = read x :: Float I am at a beginner level of Haskell, so any comments on my code are welcome.

  • Interpolating height for a point inside a grid based on a discrete height function.

    Hi, I have been wracking my brain to come up with a solution to this problem. I have a lookup table that returns height values for various points (x,z) on the grid. For instance I can calculate the height at A, B, C and D in Figure 1. However, I am looking for a way to interpolate the height at P (which has a known (x,z)). The lookup table only has values at the grid intervals, and P lies between these intervals. I am trying to calculate values s and t such that: A'(s) = A + s(C-A) B'(t) = B + t(P-B) I would then use the these two equations to find the intersection point of B'(t) with A'(s) to find a point X on the line A-C. With this I can calculate the height at this point X and with that the height at point P. My issue lies in calculating the values for s and t. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Where is the VB.Net debugger "Make Object ID" function?

    When using the visual studio 2008 debugger with c# i can right-click on a variable and choose "Make Object ID" which allows me to watch that object (via it's ID) regardless of whether it is in the current stack frame or not. When the debugger is in VB code, (doesnt matter if it's run from a c# unit test or a vb unit test) That option isn't there. Where did VB put this feature? Or does it simply not support it like so many other helpful c# features?

In .Net, I'd code it as follows (but obviously EF does not like Math.Max). From T In Db.MyTable Where Math.Max(T.Col1 - T.Col2,0) + T.Col3 - T.Col4 > 0 _ Select T Is there an easy way to do this?
