• Building a CalDAV-server in PHP?

  Ok, so I'm the author of a CMS and I'm interested in building a CalDAV-server that enables the user to interface with my CMS through CalDAV instead of only through the web, so they can see their calendars, add todos and things like that. I've looked at http://www.davical.org/ which is a CalDAV service built in PHP, but it has its own database and I already have the DB stuff done and just want a middle-layer services that translates, both ways, to and from my databases using my functions. Any ideas?

  I have an c# application that uses tables from sqlserver 2008 database (runs on standalone pc with local sqlserver). Initially i install database on this pc with some initial data (there are some tables that application uses and the user doesn't touch). The question is - how can i upgrade this database after user created some new data without harming it (i continue developing and can add some new tables or stored procedures or add some columns to existing tables).   There is a charset parameter in htmlspecialchars but the decode version does not have it. In comparison to the similar htmlentities, the encode and decode functions both have the charset parameter. So I can't choose what charset I am decoding back to?

  I know it is rather heated question. But anyway I'd like to hear opinions of those in Stackoverflow. Given that XML support is quite good in SQL Server 2005/2008, and there's no concern about database independency, why one need Linq-to-SQL, Entity Framework, NHibernate and the likes, which are quite complex and awkward in advanced use-cases, if by using POCOs, XmlSerializer, and stored procedures which process XML, one can achieve a lot less complex middle-tier?   Is there a way to copy View output column headers along with the data? There is a setting in Options to include column headers with query results, but that only works with "New Query" and Stored Procedure output. Looks like SSMS 2008 has this functionality built in to the contextual menu when you right click on results, but I only have 2005. Am I out of luck? Thanks for any help.
