  I have a Debian as a member of our AD (which is a 2k3). I want to share 2 folders from our Debian. 1 with full access for everyone, the second only readable by group "ADM", and "PROD". • Broken screen on laptop?

  I recently damaged the screen on my HP Notebook...now my main concern is that I have Roboform installed and on my taskbar. The trouble is, because the screen is totaled, I can't see anything, and I discovered, to my horror, that I haven't backed any of the IDs and passwords up to a text document. Of course, I cannot access any of my content that hosts an ID name and password at all unless I can access Roboform that is installed on the notebook! Now hopefully I have ordered a SATA/USB cable to access the hard drive that I now removed form the notebook will I be able to access roboform that way and ALL the log-in details?

• How to delete massive files via ftp or ssh?

  On my servers, one of the scripts that I have been using keeps creating the blank files at root and I haven't been noticed for more than over 6 months and now total files are created more than 500,000 files. I cannot access that directory through control panel because there were too many files and I can only access with ftp. Even with ftp, ftp truncated the files by 8000 each. So I have to keep deleting 8000 each. I tried to ask my host to delete it for me but they says they can't since it's the liability issues. So what I want to know is how can i delete all of those 500,000 files through ftp? Since it's shared hosting, I don't have SSH access either. Hosting provider says I can request the SSH access but need to verify it and their office closed until next week. So I am stuck with ftp for now. So please kindly let me know how can i delete massive files via ftp ? And incase, if i can get the ssh access, please kindly let me know how can i delete the files via ssh with efficient ways ? Am I misreading the log entry, and it's not actually being denied? (Seems unlikely.) Is the ISP (TWC) pushing deny tables that are not exposed in the UI? (Tinfoil hat too tight.) I'm confused. (The good news, such as it is, is that AFAIK I'm not experiencing any actual issues... but maybe I am; tough to tell.) Thanks.

  I have a virtual network setup with a Linux router/firewall connected to two private networks. An OpenVPN server in routing mode and a web server are in one of the networks. On the other are linux client machines which access the webserver and the Internet through the OpenVPN server. Also, external clients can access the OpenVPN from the Internet. The OpenVPN's server.conf is setup to use routing mode in udp, push DNS and routes to the network it is in so clients can access the webserver. Here are my very strict firewall rules. After connecting to the OpenVPN server, my clients can not access the Internet or the web server. When I allow FORWARD traffic to go through, it works just fine. The OpenVPN server has full internet connectivity. What firewall rule do I need to add to allow internet traffic to reach my clients?

  people. i know there are several types of firewalls operating at different layers of OSI. ACLs(layer 3 firewalls filter based on port numbers and IP addresses), SPI(which examines the patterns of data at layer 3 and realise that data content is malicious or not) and application layer firewalls which is capable of understanding the data at that level. Considering this, i'll give an example and learn what i need to do. Lets say, we have a computer has access to the Internet. i want to download a file or display a web page from a website but block access to the another website/s or downloading. To do this, i cant block access to the web browser on the 3rd party firewall bcos that will shut down all access. ACLs wont already do it. So, which kind of firewall will make it possible to filter specific traffic and how?

• Jail user to home directory while still allowing permission to create and delete files/folders

  I'm trying to give a client SFTP access to the root directory of their site on my server (Ubuntu 10.10) so they can manager their website themselves. While I have been successful in jailing a user to a directory and giving them SFTP access; they are only allowed to create and delete new files in sub directories (the directories they own). This means that I must give them access to the parent directory to the root of their site. How can I limit them to the root of their site (for example public_html) while still allowing them the ability create and delete files. All the tutorials I have read suggest that the root must be the owner of the user's home directory, which prevents them from write access inside that directory. I'm relatively new to managing my own server so any advice would be very grateful. Many thanks.

  I'm using Win 7. There is an access point of a service provider wifi near my house. The wifi is not free and not WEB/WPA protected. Everyone can connect to it and it will show the company's login page. (if the username/password are put correctly, their customer can use the net.) I'm not the customer of the company and have my own access point in my house. But my computer always connect to the network of that company. I tried to remove the network but it keep coming back and connect to that access point instead of mine. What can I do to make my computer choose my access point first?

Then created user in active directory and allowed network access permission. After this I tried to connect to vpn from windows 8.   I'm having problems connecting to my server via SFTP. I can SSH in to the system perfectly fine, but for some odd reason, i'm not able to SFTP (which I used to be able to). I have cleared ALL my iptables rules iptables -F still no access. I have removed the sub system (to allow FULL access) still no access. I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is. Thus is therefore making a solution impossible.

  We have an interesting situation in relation to some help desk software that we are trying to setup. This is a web based software application that allows customers and staff to log into it and access tickets and supply updates, etc. The challenge we are having deals with the two different domains that we use and the mod_rewrite rules to make it all work with our SSL certificate that is only bound to one of the domains. I will list the use case scenarios below and the challenges that we are having. If you access http://support.domain1.com/support then it redirects fine to https://support.domain2.com/support If you access http://support.domain2.com/support then it redirects fine to https://support.domain2.com/support If you access https://support.domain1.com/support then it throws an error of "server cannot be found" If you access https://support.domain1.com/support/ after having visited https://support.domain2.com/support then you are presented with a "this connection is untrusted" error about the certificate only being valid for the domain2 domain instead of the domain1 domain name I have tried just about every mod_rewrite rule that I can think of to help make this work and I have not been able to locate the correct combination. I was curious if anyone had some ideas on how to make the redirects work correctly. In the end, we are needing all customers and staff to land at https://support.domain2.com/support regardless of the previous URL combinations that they enter, like listed above.   I have a CentOS server configured as a PPTP VPN Server. The client is a Windows 7 with "Use default gateway on remote network" in advanced TCP/IPv4 properties enable. He can connect to CentOS without any problem and can access to: The Box of his ISP (http://192.168.1.254/) The CentOS server The website which is hosted by the server (through http://) But he canNOT access any other web service (google.com or 74.125.230.224) I am a beginner with web servers so I do not know what can cause this problem. Note 0 : The Windows 7 user must be able to access the whole internet through the CentOS PPTP proxy. Note 1 : With "Use default gateway on remote network" in advanced TCP/IPv4 UNCHECKED it is the same problem Note 2 : With "Use default gateway on remote network" in advanced TCP/IPv4 UNCHECKED AND "disable class based route addition" CHECKED the Win 7 can access google but with the ISP IP (no use of the VPN...) • Windows 7: Shared folder over wifi working for ONLY "Guests"

  Hi, I have a desktop and a laptop connected to same wifi router. Desktop is connected with wire and laptop with wifi. Both the system runs windows 7 and are on the same workgroup. I have shared some folders on desktop and can view the shared folder list on laptop under "network places". But when I try to open a folder, a prompt appears for username and password. When I enter BOTH username and password, It does not authenticate when I enter ONLY username, I get:- "Windows cannot access \WIn71\Setups you do not have permission to access ..." Now to get around this message I have to give access to "Guests" group on my desktop shared folder. Cant seem to figure out why It cant authenticate username with password. And giving access to "Guests" does not sounds safe!

• XP Filesharing works with IP's but not computer names.

  I recently ran into a problem where I was setting up a 5 person LAN. I enabled filesharing on the main computer and wanted to allow the other 4 computers to have access. 2 computers were able to access \expample without any issues. 1 computer would only connect if I uses the ip address \x.x.x.x\data. The third computer was able to access \example but required the user to login every time they tried to access the share. Why is there such inconsistency in these connections? All 5 computers are Windows XP Professional.

  I have to support Sharepoint on a daily basis but do not have the equivalent of domain access so I'm constantly having to ask the guy in charge of Sharepoint to add me to a new security group to complete my task. Rather than having to bug him all the time (he is only somewhat technical) it would be easier to simply have the equivalent of domain admin access for Sharepoint (I'm a sys admin and have domain admin access already but this doesn't seem to carry over to FOSS).
