• Select <a> which is the second <a> on a page that contains some href text?

  Hello there, I'm working with a page that has several links that contain the same href text, and I need to select the second anchor element on the page that contains said href text. Here's a simplified version of the link structure of the page: <a href="same/link/to/stuff/">same link</a> <a href="same/link/to/stuff/">same link</a> How do I fashion my selector so that it only selects the second anchor in the above example?   I have a List called myData and I want to apply a particular method (someFunction) to every element in the List. Is calling a method through an object's constructor slower than calling the same method many times for one particular object instantiation? In other words, is this: for(int i = 0; i < myData.Count; i++) myClass someObject = new myClass(myData[i]); slower than this: myClass someObject = new myClass(); for(int i = 0; i < myData.Count; i++) someObject.someFunction(myData[i]); ? If so, how much slower?

  This is a slightly version of other question posted here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2888880/xslt-change-node-inner-text Imagine i use XSLT to transform the document: <a> <b/> <c/> </a> into this: <a> <b/> <c/> Hello world </a> In this case i can't use neither the <xsl:strip-space elements="*"/> element or the [normalize-space() != ''] predicate since there is no text in the place where i need to put new text. • Getting 'choice' to work in Highline Ruby Gem without error and getting variable from it

  I'm having a couple of problems using Highline in Ruby, and trying to get the choice element, detailed here, to work. At the moment the following code produces the error "error: wrong number of arguments (0 for 1). Use --trace to view backtrace" How do I get the variable out of choice? At the moment I have the 'do' setup, but I have no idea about how to get the variable the user has chosen out and into a variable for use elsewhere.   I have a drop down list with known values. What I'm trying to do is set the drop down list to a particular value that I know exists using jQuery. Using regular JavaScript, I would do something like: ddl = document.getElementById("ID of element goes here"); ddl.value = 2; // 2 being the value I want to set it to. However, I need to do this with jQuery because I'm using a CSS class for my selector (stupid ASP.NET client ids...). Here are a few things I've tried: $("._statusDDL").val(2); // doesn't find 2 as a value $("._statusDDL").children("option").val(2) // also failed. How can I do it with jQuery?

• best method in jquery for replacing rows in a table after server side processing such as mysql sorti

  What is the 'best practice' when returning dynamic data for a table (server side sorting, filtering etc from a db) ? Do you return just the data in json, and repeatedly clone a row element, replacing the values in each row (thus decreasing the size of the ajax call, but increasing the client side processing), or return the full html, and replace with .html or .append? Or is there another method I'm missing? This is a frequent situation in my app, and in some cases a bottleneck, and I am unsure if what I am doing is the best solution. Currently, I return the row html and use a single .append call, after emptying all the rows except the header.

  I am a newbie in C and I would like to get the elements of an array with a function, I have tried different options, but I still do not get the elements. My function is: void getelements(int *a, int cl) { int *p; for (p=&a[0];p<&a[cl];p++) { printf("%d\n",*p); } } I know that the solution should work like that, but it only prints the first element and then memory positions. I am calling my function with: int v={10,12,20,34,45}; getelements(&v,5); Any help? I need to use arithmetic of pointers. Thanks

• C++: Delete a struct?

  I have a struct that contains pointers: struct foo { char* f; int* d; wchar* m; } I have a vector of shared pointers to these structs: vector<shared_ptr<foo>> vec; vec is allocated on the stack. When it passes out of scope at the end of the method, its destructor will be called. (Right?) That will in turn call the destructor of each element in the vector. (Right?) Does calling delete foo delete just the pointers such as foo.f, or does it actually free the memory from the heap?

  Hi, I've got a weird issue with Ruby. I want to read data from a file and put the data then into an array. The weird thing is, it's working in another script which does basically, the same thing. quoteArray = [] quoteFile = File.new("quotes.txt", "r") or die "Unable to open file..." quoteFile.each_line { |line| quoteArray.push line } puts quoteArray[0] All I get out of this is an array with one element where the whole text file is in. What's wrong? Is it my machine? The text file? Any ideas? Thanks in advance

  I'm new to parsing XML and am having an issue with entities. (Am doing this on Android, if it makes a difference). Is there a way to have it turn an entity into the character it represents? I have this in the child of an element: "isn&#39;t" (minus quotes). I would prefer it parse it and the end result be a single text node. However, right now this is turned in to TEXT, ENTITY, TEXT. Is there a way to automatically have it parse the entity into text, or a manual way to do it?

  I have an elements on page that are draggabe with jQuery. These elements have click event wich navigates to another page (ordinary links for example). What is the best way to prevent click from firing on dropping such element, while allowing clicking it in not drag and drop state? I have this problem with sortable elements, but think it is good to have solution for general drag and drop. I've solved the problem for myself. After that found that same solution exists for Scriptaculous, but maybe someone have a better way to achieve that.

• A 3-D grid of regularly spaced points

  I want to create a list containing the 3-D coords of a grid of regularly spaced points, each as a 3-element tuple. I'm looking for advice on the most efficient way to do this. In C++ for instance, I simply loop over three nested loops, one for each coordinate. In Matlab, I would probably use the meshgrid function (which would do it in one command). I've read about meshgrid and mgrid in Python, and I've also read that using numpy's broadcasting rules is more efficient. It seems to me that using the zip function in combination with the numpy broadcast rules might be the most efficient way, but zip doesn't seem to be overloaded in numpy.

• Safe way of iterating over an array or dictionary and deleting entries?

  I've heard that it is a bad idea to do something like this. But I am sure there is some rule of thumb which can help to get that right. When I iterate over an NSMutableDictionary or NSMutableArray often I need to get rid of entries. Typical case: You iterate over it, and compare the entry against something. Sometimes the result is "don't need anymore" and you have to remove it. But doing so affects the index of all the rows, doesn't it? So how could I safely iterate over it without accidently exceeding bounds or jumping over an element that hasn't been checked?

• Interesting XSL Dilemma

  I've got this issue. A template called "checkbox" that's called from while inside a table HTML element and also outside of it. To solve an issue, I've added tags to "checkbox" input control. Here's what I'd like to do to but I'm not sure if it's possible or not. When I hit my "row" (part of the custom table markup) template, I would set some variable or pass some parameter, that for each template applied afterwards, would know it was in a "row" and do something special based on this information. I know I can't add parameters to apply-templates. I may be able to add a row "mode" but I can't make changes to each template and have one copy with the mod parameter and one without. Thanks for any suggestions. I know the ideal solution would to be to make changes to the XML but I'm not sure if I can do that as this point. That's a "content" issue. :P Thanks!

Now my problem is when i clicked on the child div the parent div click event also executed. I tried e.stopPropagation(); but still same behavior. Help me ?

  Hi, I have a TListView and TPopupMenu, and I want to show a context menu when I right click on a TListItem. I tried the "AutoPopup" by assigning the component, but on a right click the PopupMenu is shown only and the wanted element is not selected. So i tried to use the "OnMouseDown", but we need to click and click again to show the menu on the wanted item. The first click is to select the item and the second shows the menu. But I want just a one click to do the two things. Do you have and idea about the problem? Thank you.

• HTML5 - Creating a canvas on top of an SVG(or other image)

  The reason for asking this question is because I want to be able to draw an arrow between two svg images. I want to use canvas to create the arrows, so firstly I generate the svgs then place a canvas on top of them to be able to draw the arrows. I've tried using style=... but haven't had any luck as everytime I add the canvas element it just pushes my svg images to another pl If there's no easy way to do this I'll just create arrows using SVG, I figured it would be more efficient to use canvas if I had to do lots of arrows in a short amount of time.

  Hello Friends, I am writing one simple web page with bunch of textboxes and a button control. Now when user finished editing the values on this text boxes user has to click the button and this button invoke heavily process intensive algorithm on server side code based on the data received from client (Textboxes) And it could some time takes up to 30 to 45 minutes to complete the whole operation so the current thread is still inside the button click event handler function. That background task only provides one event, and the web page subscribes to it to get some text data after each stage of processing I was wandering if there is any way I can keep user up-to-date with what is the current progress on that background task. I have div element to print the current status information So I am looking for some sort of reverse mechanism then "get" and "post". I have read some articles on the Comet (programming) but I can't find any easy or definitive answer Thanks in advance

  I am converting XML children into the element parameters and have a dirty regex script I used in Textmate. I know that dot (.) doesn't search for newlines, so this is how I got it to resolve. Search language="(.*)" (.*)<education>(.*)(\n)?(.*)?(\n)?(.*)?(\n)?(.*)?</education> (.*)<years>(.*)</years> (.*)<grade>(.*)</grade> Replace grade="$13" language="$1" years="$11"> <education>$3$4$5$6$7$8$9</education> I know there's a better way to do this. Please help me build my regex skills further.
