  • perl regular expressions substitution/replacement using variables with special characters

    - by user961627
Okay I've checked previous similar questions and I've been juggling with different variations of quotemeta but something's still not right. I have a line with a word ID and two words - the first is the wrong word, the second is right. And I'm using a regex to replace the wrong word with the right one. $line = "ANN20021015_0104_XML_16_21 A$xAS A$xASA"; @splits = split("\t",$line); $wrong_word = quotemeta $splits[1]; $right_word = quotemeta $splits[2]; print $right_word."\n"; print $wrong_word."\n"; $line =~ s/$wrong_word\t/$right_word\t/g; print $line; What's wrong with what I'm doing? Edit The problem is that I'm unable to retain the complete words - they get chopped off at the special characters. This code works perfectly fine for words without special characters. The output I need for the above example is: ANN20021015_0104_XML_16_21 A$xASA A$xASA But what I get is ANN20021015_0104_XML_16_21 A A Because of the $ character.

  • why does setting stderr=subprocess.STDOUT fix a subprocess.check_output call?

    - by ShankarG
I have a python script running on a small server that is called in three different ways - from within another python script, by cron, or by gammu-smsd (an SMS daemon with the wonderful mobile utility [gammu]). The script is for maintenance and contained the following kludge to measure used space on the system (presumably this is possible from within Python, but this was quick and dirty): reportdict['Used Space'] = subprocess.check_output(["df / | tail -1 | awk '{ print $5; }'"], shell=True)[0:-1] Oddly enough this line would only fail when the script was called by a shell script running from gammu-smsd. The line would fail with a CalledProcessError exception saying "returned exit status 2", even though the output attribute of the CalledProcessError object contained the correct output. The only command in the sequence of shell commands that would give such an error status would be awk, with status 2 indicating a fatal error. If the python script with this line was called by cron, by another python script, or from the command line, this line would work fine. I broke my head trying to fix the environment for the script, thinking this must be the problem. Finally though I put in stderr=subprocess.STDOUT, like so: reportdict['Used Space'] = subprocess.check_output(["df / | tail -1 | awk '{ print $5; }'"], stderr=subprocess.STDOUT, shell=True)[0:-1] This was a debug measure to help me figure out if some output was coming on stderr. But after this the script started working, even when called from gammu-smsd! Why might this be the case? I ask for future reference when using subprocess...

  • text-transform cannot change/be overwritten? (css)

    - by Radek
    I am studying css and I do not understand why some OTHER text and line 2 has red underline effect on them. I thought I either changed it for class others or reset it to none for class line2 I tried `text-decoration:none' for both .line2 and .others and the text was still red underlined. <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> .line {color:red; text-transform:uppercase; text-decoration:underline;} .line2 {color:blue; text-transform:none;} .others {color:black; text-transform:lowercase; text-decoration:blink; font-weight:bold;} </style> </head> <body> <div class='line'> line 1 <div class='others'><BR>some OTHER text<BR></DIV> <div class='line2'> <BR>line 2 </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Django Interrupted system call when sending email

    - by mhost
Hi, Sometimes, when submitting a form (pretty much any form on my site that sends me an email), I get the following error: File "/usr/lib/python2.5/smtplib.py", line 603, in starttls (resp, reply) = self.docmd("STARTTLS") File "/usr/lib/python2.5/smtplib.py", line 378, in docmd return self.getreply() File "/usr/lib/python2.5/smtplib.py", line 352, in getreply line = self.file.readline() File "/usr/lib/python2.5/socket.py", line 381, in readline data = self._sock.recv(self._rbufsize) error: (4, 'Interrupted system call') My code is sending email via gmail. I am also using django contact-form which does the same thing. The problem doesn't always happen. It seems very random. At one point today it got so bad that it displayed the error every time I submitted a form. Restarting apache fixes the problem for one submission and then it does it again. I have checked the RAM and there is plenty available (about 350MB available). Can someone lead me in the right direction? What does this error mean? What can I do to prevent this. Thanks.

  • Abstract Classes and ReadOnly Properties

    - by serhio
Let's have three classes; Line PoliLine SuperPoliLine for all that three classes a Distance is defined. But only for the Line a Distance can be Set. Is there a possibility to build a common abstract (MustInherit) class Segment, having a Distance as (abstract +? ReadOnly) member? Question for VB.NET, but C# answers welcomed too. Business Background Imagine a Bus. It has a lot of Stations, MainStations, and 2 TerminalStations. So Line is between 2 Stations, PoliLine is between 2 MainStations, and SuperPoliLine is between 2 TerminalStations. All "lines" are "Segments", but only the distance A-B between 2 stations - Line can be defined.

  • Scala : cleanest way to recursively parse files checking for multiple strings

    - by fred basset
Hi All, I want to write a Scala script to recursively process all files in a directory. For each file I'd like to see if there are any cases where a string occurs at line X and line X - 2. If a case like that occurs I'd like to stop processing that file, and add that filename to a map of filenames to occurrence counts. I just started learning Scala today, I've got the file recurse code working, and need some help with the string searching, here's what I have so far: import java.io.File import scala.io.Source val s1= "CmdNum = 506" val s2 = "Data = [0000,]" def processFile(f: File) { val lines = scala.io.Source.fromFile(f).getLines.toArray for (i = 0 to lines.length - 1) { // want to do string searches here, see if line contains s1 and line two lines above also contains s1 //println(lines(i)) } } def recursiveListFiles(f: File): Array[File] = { val these = f.listFiles if (these != null) { for (i = 0 to these.length - 1) { if (these(i).isFile) { processFile(these(i)) } } these ++ these.filter(_.isDirectory).flatMap(recursiveListFiles) } else { Array[File]() } } println(recursiveListFiles(new File(args(0))))

  • Scala println in a for loop

    - by random459
The following Scala code does just what I expect it to - it prints each line of some_file.txt. import scala.io.Source val lines = Source.fromPath("some_file.txt").mkString for (line <- lines) print(line) If I use println instead of print, I expect to see some_file.txt printed out with double-spacing. Instead, the program prints a newline after every character of some_file.txt. Could someone explain this to me? I'm using Scala 2.8.0 Beta 1.

  • C error expected specifier-qualifier-list before ‘time_t’

    - by ambika
I got the error from error.c:31: /usr/include/ap/mas.h:254: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before ‘time_t’ make: *** [error.o] Error 1 Feedback We at least need to see line 31 of error.c and line 254 of mas.h, with preferably a few lines of context around each. This error may have nothing to do with how time_t is being declared. – John Bode Then I check in error.c (line no 31) -- #include "mas.h" then I check line no 254 in mas.h. in mas.h #include <sys/types.h> typedef struct _x{ time_t time; }x; Can anybody suggest where I am going wrong?

  • C++ class member functions instantiated by traits

    - by Jive Dadson
I am reluctant to say I can't figure this out, but I can't figure this out. I've googled and searched Stack Overflow, and come up empty. The abstract, and possibly overly vague form of the question is, how can I use the traits-pattern to instantiate non-virtual member functions? The question came up while modernizing a set of multivariate function optimizers that I wrote more than 10 years ago. The optimizers all operate by selecting a straight-line path through the parameter space away from the current best point (the "update"), then finding a better point on that line (the "line search"), then testing for the "done" condition, and if not done, iterating. There are different methods for doing the update, the line-search, and conceivably for the done test, and other things. Mix and match. Different update formulae require different state-variable data. For example, the LMQN update requires a vector, and the BFGS update requires a matrix. If evaluating gradients is cheap, the line-search should do so. If not, it should use function evaluations only. Some methods require more accurate line-searches than others. Those are just some examples. The original version instantiates several of the combinations by means of virtual functions. Some traits are selected by setting mode bits that are tested at runtime. Yuck. It would be trivial to define the traits with #define's and the member functions with #ifdef's and macros. But that's so twenty years ago. It bugs me that I cannot figure out a whiz-bang modern way. If there were only one trait that varied, I could use the curiously recurring template pattern. But I see no way to extend that to arbitrary combinations of traits. I tried doing it using boost::enable_if, etc.. The specialized state information was easy. I managed to get the functions done, but only by resorting to non-friend external functions that have the this-pointer as a parameter. I never even figured out how to make the functions friends, much less member functions. The compiler (VC++ 2008) always complained that things didn't match. I would yell, "SFINAE, you moron!" but the moron is probably me. Perhaps tag-dispatch is the key. I haven't gotten very deeply into that. Surely it's possible, right? If so, what is best practice?

  • perl - converting a date into a string

    - by Jason
I need to convert a date to a string, the date is entered as 07/04/2010 and should then read July 4th 2010. It should also be able to be entered using singe digits instead of double (7 instead of 07, and it needs to add the 20 to the year if the user enters only /10) This is what I have so far - #!/usr/bin/perl use CGI qw(:standard); use strict; #declare variables my ($date, $month, $day, $year); my @months = ("January", "February", "March", "April", "May", "June", "July", "August", "September", "October", "November", "December"); #assign input item to variable $date = param('Date'); #break date apart $date =~ /([0-9]{1,2})\/([0-9]{1,2})\/([0-9]{2,2}|20[0-9]{2,2})/; $month = $1; $day = $2; $year = $3; unless($year =~ /20[0-9]{2,2}/){ $year = "20".$year; } $date = $months[int($1)]." ".$day.", ".$year; #display date print "<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>The Date</TITLE></HEAD>\n"; print "<BODY>\n"; print "The date is: $date\n"; print "</BODY></HTML>\n"; However I keep getting errors Use of uninitialized value in pattern match (m//) at c08ex6.cgi line 14. • Perl, Array called by scalar doesn't work in foreach loop.

    - by foxhop
This code outputs the scalars in the row array properly: $line = "This is my favorite test"; @row = split(/ /, $line); print $row[0]; print $row[1]; The same code inside a foreach loop doesn't print any scalar values: foreach $line (@lines){ @row = split(/ /, $line); print $row[0]; print $row[1]; } What could cause this to happen? I am new to perl coming from python. I need to learn perl for my new position.

  • Trouble compiling some decompiled C# code

    - by Colin O'Dell
I was decompiling an open-source project (because the source for the latest version hasn't been released yet). Using RedGate's Reflector tool, it gave me this block of code: if(somecondition == true) { ref Vector3i vectoriRef; float num17 = length - num; Vector3i end = vectori3; (vectoriRef = (Vector3i) &end)[1] = vectoriRef[1] - ((int) num17); } somecondition is a boolean. length and num are floats defined outside the code. vectori3 is also defined outside the code and is of type Vector3i. The type Vector3i is essentially this code, but with x, y, and z stored as integers. When I try to compile this decompiled code, I get the following errors: Line 2: Only assignment, call, increment, decrement, and new object expressions can be used as a statement Line 3: ; expected Line 3: Invalid expression term 'ref' Line 6: 'Vector3i' is a 'type' but is used like a 'variable' Any thoughts on how I can fix this code so it compiles correctly and does whatever it was intended to do?

  • How do I detect a click event on a google maps PolyLine overlay?

    - by Tom
It seems to me that I should be able to do the following to detect a click event on a line on a google map: var line = new GPolyline( ... ); map.addOverlay(line); GEvent.addListener(line, "click", function(latlng){ alert("clicked"); }); The api reference says this is available in version 2.88, which was released in 2007(!?), so I'm assuming that's what I'm using, but I don't know how to confirm that. I also tried setting the {clickable:true} option explicitly (it's supposed to be the default.) I've tested in FireFox 3 and Opera 9.6 so doubt it's browser specific. I'm also using jQuery on the page. I have plenty of code detecting clicks on markers that works fine, clicking on lines would be really nice, can anyone enlighten me?

  • no instance of overloaded function getline c++

    I'm a bit confused as to what i have incorrect with my script that is causing this error. I have a function which calls a fill for game settings but it doesn't like my getline. Also i should mention these are the files i have included for it: #include <fstream> #include <cctype> #include <map> #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <algorithm> #include <vector> using namespace std;' This is what i have: std::map<string, string> loadSettings(std::string file){ ifstream file(file); string line; std::map<string, string> config; while(std::getline(file, line)) { int pos = line.find('='); if(pos != string::npos) { string key = line.substr(0, pos); string value = line.substr(pos + 1); config[trim(key)] = trim(value); } } return (config); } The function is called like this from my main.cpp //load settings for game std::map<string, string> config = loadSettings("settings.txt"); //load theme for game std::map<string, string> theme = loadSettings("theme.txt"); Where did i go wrong ? Please help!   • How do I count the number of bytes read by TextReader.ReadLine()?

    - by Steve Guidi
I am parsing a very large file of records (one per line, each of varying length), and I'd like to keep track of the number of bytes I've read in the file so that I may recover in the event of a failure. I wrote the following: string record = myTextReader.ReadLine(); bytesRead += record.Length; ParseRecord(record); However this doesn't work since ReadLine() strips any CR/LF characters in the line. Furthermore, a line may be terminated by either CR, LF, or CRLF characters, which means I can't just add 1 to bytesRead. Is there an easy way to get the actual line length, or do I write my own ReadLine() method in terms of the granular Read() operations?

  • Fixing too long comment lines in Vim

    - by Tomek Kaftal
I'm looking for a convenient way to fix comments where line lengths exceed a certain number of characters in Vim. I'm fine with doing this manually with code, especially since it's not that frequent, plus refactoring long lines is often language, or even code-style dependent, but with comments this is pure drudgery. What happens is I often spot some issue in a comment, tweak one or two words and the line spills out of the, say, 80 character limit. I move the last word to the next line and then the next line spills, and so on. Does anyone know a way to do this automatically in Vim?

  • PHP's fopen is terminally failing

    - by Skittles
Okay, I have GOT to be missing something totally rudimentary here. I have an extremely simple use of PHP's fopen function, but for some reason, it will not open the file no matter what I do. The odd part about this is that I use fopen in another function in the same script and it's working perfectly. I'm using the fclose in both functions. So, I know it's not a matter of a rogue file handle. I have confirmed the file's path and the existence of the target file also. I'm running the script at the command-line as root, so I know it's not apache that's the cause. And since I am running the script as root, I am fairly confident that permissions are not the issue. So, what on earth am I missing here? function get_file_list() { $file = '/home/site/tmp/return_files_list.txt'; $fp = fopen($file, 'r') or die("Could not open file: /home/site/tmp/return_files_list.txt for reading.\n"); $files_list = array(); while($line = fgets($fp)) { $files_list[] = $line; } fclose($fp); return $files_list; } function num_records_in_file($filename) { $fp = fopen( $filename, 'r' ); # or die("Could not open file: $filename\n"); $counter = 0; if ($fp) { while (!feof( $fp )) { $line = fgets( $fp ); $arr = explode( '|', $line ); if (( ( $arr[0] != 'HDR' && $arr[0] != 'TRL' ) && $arr[0] != '' )) { ++$counter; continue; } } } fclose( $fp ); return $counter; } As requested, here's both functions. The second function is passed an absolute path to the file. That is what I used to confirm that the file is there and that the path is correct.

  • issue running a batch script to kill a process

    - by user657064
I am using the following script on a command line to kill a hypothetical notepad process (using a Korn shell in Windows XP, if that matters): kill $(tasklist | grep -i notepad.exe | awk '{print 2}') Now I take this line, and put it into a batch file c:\temp\testkill.bat, thinking that I should just as well be able to kill the process by running the batch file. However, when I run the batch file, I get the following awk error about unbalanced parentheses: C:/Temp ./testkill.bat C:\Tempkill $(tasklist | grep -i notepad.exe | awk '{print $2}') awk: unbalanced () Context is: {print $2}) <<< C:/Temp So I'm baffled as to why I am getting this error about unbalanced parentheses when I run this script via a batch file, but have no issues when I run the command directly from the command line? (Btw, I'm not necessarily tied to this way of killing a process - as a total noob to shell scripting, I am additionally wondering why if I write the following on the command line: tasklist | grep -i notepad.exe | awk '{print $2}' | kill the process ID that comes out of the tasklist/grep/awk calls doesn't seem to properly get piped to kill...)
