  • Starting/Stopping IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 7 from the Command Line

    I've written a script to automate the process of starting, stopping, and restarting WAS7 from the command line. Nothing starts automatically on one of our staging servers, so I have to start everything: deployment manager, node agent, app server, and Web server. The script I wrote seems to work pretty well. A coworker of mine recommended that I structure my commands differently. I'm wondering if there's a good, valid reason for doing so. First, my variables: WAS_HOME="/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer" WAS_PROFILE_NAME="AppSrv01" WAS_APP_SERVER="server1" WAS_WEB_SERVER="webserver1" How I had the start commands: "${WAS_HOME}/bin/startManager.sh" "${WAS_HOME}/bin/startNode.sh" -profileName $WAS_PROFILE_NAME "${WAS_HOME}/bin/startServer.sh" -profileName $WAS_PROFILE_NAME $WAS_APP_SERVER "${WAS_HOME}/bin/startServer.sh" -profileName $WAS_PROFILE_NAME $WAS_WEB_SERVER I was told that I should do it like this, instead: WAS_DMGR="Dmgr01" # Added variable "${WAS_HOME}/profiles/${WAS_PROFILE_NAME}/bin/startNode.sh" "${WAS_HOME}/profiles/${WAS_DMGR}/bin/startManager.sh" "${WAS_HOME}/profiles/${WAS_PROFILE_NAME}/bin/startServer.sh" $WAS_APP_SERVER "${WAS_HOME}/profiles/${WAS_PROFILE_NAME}/bin/startServer.sh" $WAS_WEB_SERVER How is the second way of starting up everything for WebSphere any better or more correct than the first, original, way?

    Hi, I am using the below js code in order to change the class when a link is clicked. document.getElementById("gifts").setAttribute("class", "gkvSprite selected"); This is not working in IE but it does in FF and Chrome Then I changed the code to : document.getElementById("gifts").setAttribute("className", "gkvSprite selected"); Then it worked in IE stopped working in FF and Chrome.   • How to parse HTML with TouchXML or some other alternative.

    Hi, I'm trying to parse the HTML presented below with TouchXML but it keeps crashing when I try to extract certain attributes. I'm totally new to the parser world so I apologize for being a complete idiot. I need help to parse this HTML. What I'm trying to accomplish is to parse each attribute and value or what not and copy them to a string. I've been trying to find a good parser to parse HTML and I believe TouchXML is the best I've seen because of Tidy. Speaking of Tidy, How could I run this HTML through Tidy first then parse it? I'm not sure how to do this. Here is the code that I have so far that doesn't work due to it's not pulling everything I need from the HTML. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.   • Linux HA - Best Heartbeat hardware solution

    Hi all I would ask anyone what is the best layer 2 medium for heartbeat in Linux and how it's best configured. More precisely I've been thinking about a dedicated NIC for that purpose but then i thought that if a switch breaks then i would loose the heartbeat connection for most of the cluster and STONITH 'BUM'!!! Will probably loose my job after :) Distributing the heartbeat onto the main NICs of every node trough a vif sounds reasonable but im not sure if this is the best option (at least the switches are redundant to some extent). Is it possible to use heartbeat over a bonded interface and that sounds reasonable? Do you have any other tip/solution for that issue?

  • Turn a number into star rating display using jQuery and CSS

    I have been looking at jquery plugin and was wondering how to adapt that plugin to turn a number (like 4.8618164) into a 4.8618164 stars filled out of 5. Basically interpreting a number <5 into stars filled in a 5-star rating system using jQuery/JS/CSS. Note that this would only display/show the stars rating from an already available number and not accept new ratings submissions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    I have set my auditd rules to log when the system time is changed However, our servers are VMs and thus have problems with the time drifting out. We needed to solve this issue so we used a VMware tool to regularly synchronize the time.
