  • WCF: Exposed Object Model - stuck in a loop

    Hi I'm working on a pretty big WSSF project. I have a normal object model in the business layer. Eg a customer has an orders collection property, when this is accessed then it loads from the data layer (lazy loading). An order has a productCollection property etc etc.. Now the bit I'm finding tricky is exposing this via WCF. I want to export a collection of orders. The client app will also need information about the customers. Using the WSSF data contract designer I have set it up so that customers have a property called "order collection". This is fine if you have a customer object and would like to look at the orders but if you have an order object there is no customer property so it doesn't work going up the hierarchy. I've tried adding a customer property to the orders object but then the code gets stuck in a loop when it loads the data contracts up. This is because it doesn't load on demand like in the business layer. I need to load all properties up before the objects can be sent out via WCF. It ends up loading an order, then the customer for that order, then the orders for that customer, then the customer for that order etc etc... I'm sure I've got all this wrong. Help!!

    MySQL has something like this: INSERT INTO visits (ip, hits) VALUES ('127.0.0.1', 1) ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE hits = hits + 1; As far as I'm know this feature doesn't exist in SQLite, what I want to know is if there is any way to archive the same effect without having to execute two queries. Also, if this is not possible, what do you prefer: SELECT + (INSERT or UPDATE) or UPDATE (+ INSERT if UPDATE fails)

  • Multiple sessions for one user?

    Hi I have host web application which is developed using java and jsp. In client side each client give five ajax calls to the server to retrieve data from the server in every 30 seconds. My problem is can one user who use one browser to log in to the system have multiple session at a time. Reason is when i use the tool to use monitor the firewall I can see more than 10 sessions are active for one IP. How this can happen? any comments

    I'm making a site, and will be allowing guests to vote/comment. How should I go about storing the user info? I wouldn't like the info to be cleared if someone deletes the cookie (SO handles guest users via cookies I guess). If someone clears cookies and changes the ip at once, then only should the guest user info should be lost. Should I use sessions in php for this?

    I've read all the questions I can find regarding the issues of composing imports without exporting the containing class but I can't find a solution to my problem. Does anybody know a way to achieve what I'm trying to do? My module assemblies have forms and classes which they use internally.   • Service reference not generating client types

    I am trying to consume a WCF service in a class library by adding a service reference to it. In one of the class libraries it gets consumed properly and I can access the client types in order to generate a proxy off of them. However in my second class library (or even in a console test app), when i add the same service reference, it only exposes the types that are involved in the contract operations and not the client type for me to generate a proxy against. e.g. Endpoint has 2 services exposed - ISvc1 and ISvc2. When I add a service reference to this endpoint in the first class library I get ISvc1Client andf ISvc2Client to generate proxies off of in order to use the operations exposed via those 2 contracts. In addition to these clients the service reference also exposes the types involved in the operations like (type 1, type 2 etc.) this is what I need. However when i try to add a service reference to the same endpoing in another console application or class library only Type 1, Type 2 etc. are exposed and not ISvc1Client and ISvc2Client because of which I cannot generate a proxy to access the operations I need. I am unable to determine why the service reference gets properly generated in one class library but not in the other or the test console app.

    The exception is Remoting Exception - Authentication Failure. The detailed message says "Unable to read data from the transport connection: the connection was closed." I'm having trouble with creating two simple servers that can comunicate as remote objects in C#. ServerInfo is just a class I created that holds the IP and Port and can give back the address. It works fine, as I used it before, and I've debugged it. Also the server is starting just fine, no exception is thrown, and the channel is registered without problems. I'm using Forms to do the interfaces, and call some of the methods on the server, but didn't find any problems in passing the parameters from the FormsApplication to the server when debugging. All seems fine in that chapter. public ChordServerProgram() { RemotingServices.Marshal(this, "PADIBook"); nodeInt = 0; } public void startServer() { try { serverChannel = new TcpChannel(serverInfo.Port); ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(serverChannel, true); } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine(e.ToString()); } } I run two instances of this program. Then startNode is called on one of the instances of the application. The port is fine, the address generated is fine as well. As you can see, I'm using the IP for localhost, since this server is just for testing purposes. public void startNode(String portStr) { IPAddress address = IPAddress.Parse("127.0.0.1"); Int32 port = Int32.Parse(portStr); serverInfo = new ServerInfo(address, port); startServer(); //node = new ChordNode(serverInfo,this); } Then, in the other istance, through the interface again, I call another startNode method, giving it a seed server to get information from. This is where it goes wrong. When it calls the method on the seedServer proxy it just got, a RemotingException is thrown, due to an authentication failure.     I've got a piece of tracking code which is capturing REMOTE_HOST, SERVER, REQUEST_METHOD, SCRIPT_NAME and QUERY_STRING. It grabs these from ServerVariables and sticks them in a database by user and IP. What is the best way to pick up the exact contents of what was posted back to a URL in ASP.NET? Is there an HTTP_POST? I'd rather not grab something and then have to parse it.

    Hello, I am not able to find a way to set TransactionIsolation in ejb. Can anybody tell me how do i set it? I am using persistence. I have looked the following classes : EntityManager , EntityManagerFactory, UserTransaction. None of them seems to have any method like setTransactionIsolation or such. Do we need to change persistence.xml? I just read a book named Mastering EJB 3.0 4th edition. They gave a full 10 page theory about Isolation level that this problems occur and that occurs and such things but at the end they gave this paragraph :- "As we now know, the EJB standard does not deal with isolation levels directly, and rightly so. EJB is a component specification. It defines the behavior and contracts of a business component with clients and middleware infrastructure (containers) such that the component can be rendered as various middleware services properly. EJBs therefore are transactional components that interact with resource managers, such as the JDBC resource manager or JMS resource manager, via JTS, as part of a transaction. They are not, hence, resource components in themselves. Since isolation levels are very specific to the behavior and capabilities of the underlying resources, they should therefore be specified at the resource API levels. " What exactly does it mean? What is meant by resource level APIs? Please help me. If persistence has no way to set Isolation Level then why do they give such huge theory in an EJB book and make it heavy in weight unnecessarily :(
