  • jQuery carousel clicks update <select> list's "selected" option to match clicked item's title attrib

    - by Scott B
    The code below allows me to change a preview image outside the carousel widget so that it matches the element under the mouse. For example, if the user mouses over image2's thumbnail, the script updates .selectedImage so that it displays image2's full size version. I'd like to enhance it so that the #myThumbs options listing updates its "selected" option to match the carousel image that receives a click. Mouseover changes the preview image and click changes the select list to match the same name. The items in the carousel will have the same title attribute as the items in the select list, so I would expect that I can pass that value from the carousel to the select list. $(function() { $("#carousel").jCarouselLite({ btnNext: ".next", btnPrev: ".prev", visible: 6, mouseWheel: true, speed: 700 }); $('#carousel').show(); $('#carousel ul li').hover(function(e) { var img_src = $(this).children('img').attr('src'); $('.selectedImage img').attr('src',img_src); } ,function() { $('.selectedImage img').attr('src', '<?php echo $selectedThumb; ?>');}); }); <select id="myThumbs"> <option>image1</option> <option selected="selected">image2</option> <option>image3</option> </select>

  • PHP JQuery: Where to specify uploadify destination folder

    - by Eamonn
    I have an uploadify script running, basic setup. Works fine when I hard code the destination folder for the images into uploadify.php - now I want to make that folder dynamic. How do I do this? I have a PHP variable $uploadify_path which contains the path to the folder I want. I have switched out my hard coded $targetPath = path/to/directory for $targetPath = $uploadify_path in both uploadify.php and check_exists.php, but it does not work. The file upload animation runs, says it is complete, yet the directory remains empty. The file is not hiding out somewhere else either. I see there is an option in the Javascript to specify a folder. I tried this also, but to no avail. If anyone could educate me on how to pass this variable destination to uploadify, I'd be very grateful. I include my current code for checking (basically default): The Javascript <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('#file_upload').uploadify({ 'swf' : 'uploadify/uploadify.swf', 'uploader' : 'uploadify/uploadify.php', // Put your options here }); }); </script> uploadify.php $targetPath = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . $uploadify_path; // Relative to the root if (!empty($_FILES)) { $tempFile = $_FILES['Filedata']['tmp_name']; $targetFile = $targetPath . $_FILES['Filedata']['name']; // Validate the file type $fileTypes = array('jpg','jpeg','gif','png'); // File extensions $fileParts = pathinfo($_FILES['Filedata']['name']); if (in_array($fileParts['extension'],$fileTypes)) { move_uploaded_file($tempFile,$targetFile); echo '1'; } else { echo 'Invalid file type.'; } }

  • Javascript / jQuery Exec turns up Null

    - by Matrym
    How do I skip over this next line if it turns out to be null? Currently, it (sometimes) "breaks" and prevents the script from continuing. var title = (/(.*?)<\/title/m).exec(response)[1]; $.get(url, function(response){ var title = (/<title>(.*?)<\/title>/m).exec(response)[1]; if (title == null || title == undefined){ return false; } var words = title.split(' '); $.each(words, function(index, value){ $link.highlight(value + " "); $link.highlight(" " + value); }); });

  • JQuery slideToggle replace image src

    - by Rob
    Hi, This function is called when an up/down arrow is clicked to slide hidden div. If the div is hidden, the arrow points down and changes to up when the div is shown. If the div is shown, the arrow points up to hide div and changes to down when the div is closed. I just wanted to know if there was a more efficient way of doing this or if this is the correct way. Thanks. function showInfo(info_id) { var img_id = '#arrow_'+info_id; var div = '#info_'+appointment_id; $(div).slideToggle('normal',function() { if ($(this).is(':visible')) { $(img_id).attr('src',$(img_id).attr('src').replace('_down','_up')); } else { $(img_id).attr('src',$(img_id).attr('src').replace('_up','_down')); } });}

  • How to validate a form with jQuery?

    - by vlad
    I tried to find the answer in other questions but actually nothing worked -.- Somehow I hate JavaScript ... Anyway! My Code looks like: function validate() { if ($(":input").length == 0) { $(":input").addClass("notvalid"); return false; } else { $(":input").removeClass("notvalid"); return true; } return true; } $(":input").blur(validate()); $(":input").keyup(validate()); $("#customForm").submit(function(){ if(validate()){ return true; } else { return false; } }); I just want to test every tag to be not empty. The test should be done when the focus is lost or after every key type. And of course after the submit button has been clicked. It doesn't work. Firefox error console says something like: unknown pseudoclass or pseudoelement 'input'. What does this mean?

  • tabs using jquery

    - by sea_1987
    I currently have a tabbed system in place, however it not doing exactly as I need it too, I was hoping that by navigating to the URL with #tab2 suffixed on then end it would navigate to my tabbed page and the tab that is present in the URL would be the one that is active, however the first tab in the sequence is always active, is there a way to check what is being passed in the URL first and if there is #tabid present then make that tab the current tab? My javascript currently looks like this, $(".tab_content").hide(); //Hide all content $("ul.tabNavigation li.shortlist").addClass("active").show(); //Activate first tab (in this case second because of floats) $(".tab_content#shortlist").show(); //Show first tab content //On Click Event $("ul.tabNavigation li").click(function() { $("ul.tabNavigation li").removeClass("active"); //Remove any "active" class $(this).addClass("active"); //Add "active" class to selected tab $(".tab_content").hide(); //Hide all tab content var activeTab = $(this).find("a").attr("href"); //Find the href attribute value to identify the active tab + content $(activeTab).fadeIn(); //Fade in the active ID content return false; });

  • Javascript - Jquery .load() and setInterval() issue.

    - by Joe
    Let's say I do this: $("#content").load(...); Within what I'm loading some javascript is included: var myCounter = 0; var myInterval = setInterval(function(){ myCounter++; $("#counter-display").html("Count: "+myCounter); }); For an unknown reason, if I reload the content with $("#content").load(...); - myInterval is now being called twice. I tried doing something like: if (myInterval !== undefined){ //dont set interval again } However, it doesn't work. Does anyone know any method so that myInterval is cleared on .load, without needing to put the javascript outside of the loaded file?

  • remove double http:// from input via jquery

    - by loo
    I have a textarea with a default value of http://. Now when an user pastes in an url (if they don't know what they are doing, like most people) it comes out like this http://http://www.google.com. I've seen a site that as soon as you have http://http:// it removes one via Ajax. I am not familiar with Ajax, so can anyone help me? I don't want to clear the field on focus only.

  • How do I make the "back button" work with jQuery hide/show functions?

    - by Walker
    I'm looking for a way to append text to the url with jQuery so that the back button is not broken when a user loads new content with jQuery. For example, I have a three step form - the first step is (www.xyz.com/form-1). When the user clicks next step, jQuery slides in the next page. I would like that page to be (www.xyz.com/form-2). I know websites like hypem.com do this, I'm just looking for an elegant way to handle it.

  • jQuery resetting value of form input when hidden

    - by RyanP13
    Hi, I am trying to clear the value attribute of an 'Other' form input when it is hidden from the user like so: // hide 'Other' inputs to start $('.jOther').hide(); // event listener on all select drop downs with class of jTitle $("select.jTitle").change(function(){ //set the select value var $titleVal = $(this).val(); if($titleVal != 'Other') { $(this).parent().find('.jOther').hide(); $(this).parent().find('input.jOther').attr("value", ""); } else { $(this).parent().find('.jOther').show(); } // Sets a cookie with named after the title field's ID attribute var $titleId = $(this).attr('id'); $.cookies.set('cpqb' + $titleId, $titleVal); }); It doesn't seem to be working and i have tried the following to no avail as well: $(this).parent().find('input.jOther').val(""); I have managed to alter other attributes in this way, such as the name, maxlength etc. Any ideas?

  • jquery function

  • Why is Chrome miscalculating jQuery submenu dimensions?

    - by chunkymonkey
    I'm trying to implement this dropdown menu with flyouts: http://jsfiddle.net/chunkymonkey/fr6x4/ In Chrome certain categories can be expanded to show their subcategories while others show nothing when opened up. For example: Alternative Rock can be expanded to show its multiple subcategories . . . BUT . . . World Music, which has as many subcategories, shows no subcategories when expanded. (SCREENSHOT: http://i.imgur.com/0WorR.jpg) I thought I had tracked this problem down to a problem with they way the dimensions of the dropdown elements are calculated in the original code: First change: - var newLeftVal = - ($('.fg-menu-current').parents('ul').size() - 1) * 180; + var newLeftVal = - ($('.fg-menu-current').parents('ul').size() - 1) * container.width(); Second change: Remove: var checkMenuHeight = function(el) { if (el.height() > options.maxHeight) { el.addClass('fg-menu-scroll') }; el.css({ height: options.maxHeight }); }; Add: var checkMenuHeight = function(el) { var max_height = options.maxHeight - breadcrumb.getTotalHeight(); if (el.height() > max_height) { el.addClass('fg-menu-scroll'); el.height(max_height); topList.height(max_height); } else { if (topList.height() < el.height()) { topList.height(el.height()); } } }; But it's still not working only on Chrome (version 8, Windows & Mac) (not sure why Chrome is different).

  • JQuery validate e-mail address regex

    - by RussP
    Hi folks, not too sure about how to do this. I need/want to validate email addresses by regex using something like this: [a-z0-9!#$%&'*+/=?^_`{|}~-]+(?:\.[a-z0-9!#$%&'*+/=?^_`{|}~-]+)*@(?:[a-z0-9](?:[a-z0-9-]*[a-z0-9])?\.)+(?:[A-Z]{2}|com|org|net|edu|gov|mil|biz|info|mobi|name|aero|asia|jobs|museum) Not I need to run this in a JQ function like this: Where does the validation go and wht is the expression? - please $j("#fld_emailaddress").live('change',function() { var emailaddress = $j("#fld_emailaddress").val(); // validation here? if(emailaddress){} // end validation $j.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "../ff-admin/ff-register/ff-user-check.php", data: "fld_emailaddress="+ emailaddress, success: function(msg) { if(msg == 'OK') { $j("#fld_username").attr('disabled',false); $j("#fld_password").attr('disabled',false); $j("#cmd_register_submit").attr('disabled',false); $j("#fld_emailaddress").removeClass('object_error'); // if necessary $j("#fld_emailaddress").addClass("object_ok"); $j('#email_ac').html('&nbsp;<img src="img/cool.png" align="absmiddle"> <font color="Green"> Your email <strong>'+ emailaddress+'</strong> is OK.</font> '); } else { $j("#fld_username").attr('disabled',true); $j("#fld_password").attr('disabled',true); $j("#cmd_register_submit").attr('disabled',true); $j("#fld_emailaddress").removeClass('object_ok'); // if necessary $j("#fld_emailaddress").addClass("object_error"); $j('#email_ac').html(msg); } } }); });
