• Android: Getting Error: Conversion to Dalvik format failed

  I am building an app on android and running into an error and while searching on net, came across your posting on this and changed the eclipse.ini to increase Xms and Xmx params but still this error does not go away. I am using Eclipse IDE for Java with Andrioid SDK 2.1 on Mac OS. Please help or please point me to someone who might know.   I'm using tortoiseSVN to checkout the log4j v1.2 source from - http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/logging/log4j/trunk But i keep getting this error: Error: OPTIONS of '': Could not Error: resolve hostname `svn.apache.org': No such host is known. The funny thing is that i can access 'svn.apache.org' from my browser but if i try to ping it from the command prompt, it says host not found. Does any body else face this problem? Is there any other way to get the source for log4j v1.2?

• using FUSLOGVW.EXE on a machine with no Visual Studio installed

  I'm currently having some assembly binding problems on our development server. I want to investigate the problem a bit further with Fusion Log Viewer. Since there is no Visual Studio installed on the machine, I copied FUSLOGVW.EXE to a local folder and started it there. Is this supposed to work or does it need something else? I don't get the impression the application is logging any failures (and yes I have the settings right).

• In Jetty, can NCSARequestLog be configured to auto-detect the time zone?

  It looks as though in 2003 or so NCSARequestLog would pick up the system time zone using TimeZone.getDefault().getID(), but in more recent versions it seems as though it's hard-coded to GMT, unless you override it in jetty.xml or programmatically. If true, this kind of annoying, since it means if you don't want GMT logging you have to edit jetty.xml for every installation (not to mention twice a year for daylight saving time). Is there a workaround that will let Jetty pick the time zone up from the system?

• Importing files in Python from __init__.py

  Suppose I have the following structure: app/ __init__.py foo/ a.py b.py c.py __init__.py a.py, b.py and c.py share some common imports (logging, os, re, etc). Is it possible to import these three or four common modules from the __init__.py file so I don't have to import them in every one of the files? Edit: My goal is to avoid having to import 5-6 modules in each file and it's not related to performance reasons.
