  • Turning off ASP.Net WebForms authentication for one sub-directory

    - by Keith
I have a large enterprise application containing both WebForms and MVC pages. It has existing authentication and authorisation settings that I don't want to change. The WebForms authentication is configured in the web.config: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms blah... blah... blah /> </authentication> <authorization> <deny users="?" /> </authorization> Fairly standard so far. I have a REST service that is part of this big application and I want to use HTTP authentication instead for this one service. So, when a user attempts to get JSON data from the REST service it returns an HTTP 401 status and a WWW-Authenticate header. If they respond with a correctly formed HTTP Authorization response it lets them in. The problem is that WebForms overrides this at a low level - if you return 401 (Unauthorised) it overrides that with a 302 (redirection to login page). That's fine in the browser but useless for a REST service. I want to turn off the authentication setting in the web.config: <location path="rest"> <system.web> <authentication mode="None" /> <authorization><allow users="?" /></authorization> </system.web> </location> The authorisation bit works fine, but when I try to change the authentication I get an exception: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. I'm configuring this at application level though - it's in the root web.config How do I override the authentication so that all of the rest of the site uses WebForms authentication and this one directory uses none? This is similar to another question: 401 response code for json requests with ASP.NET MVC, but I'm not looking for the same solution - I don't want to just remove the WebForms authentication and add new custom code globally, there's far to much risk and work involved. I want to change just the one directory in configuration.

  • Why should I Use ASP.NET Membership security model?

    - by ListenToRick
I'm updating my website at the moment and figure that if I am to update my login/security mode, now is a good time. I have looked through the Membership model which is included in ASP.NET but I'm convinced that it will provide any benefit apart from being familiar to other .NET deevlopers. There seems to be quite a lot of documentation for it, but little discussion for why its worth the effort. Can anybody shed some light upon this?

  • ListView with Groups and CheckBoxes shows correctly only when View set to Details

    - by volody

  • Gmail as icon on Dock in os x

    - by aaaidan
On Windows, I can add Gmail as a faux application to the Taskbar, by using something like "add to task bar" in the Wrench-Tools menu. This promotes it to appear as a native application in the task bar. I notice that the same menu item isn't there for Chrome on Mac - at least, not in the same place. I'm looking for a "Add to Dock" function. Can this be done on the OS X version of Chrome? If so, how? I'm sick of having my email client hanging out with the other browser tabs.

  • Initialization of ComboBox in datagrid, Silverlight 4.0

    - by Budda
I have datagrid with list of MyPlayer objects linked to ItemsSource, there are ComboBoxes inside of grid that are linked to a list of inner object, and binding works correctly: when I select one of the item then its value is pushed to data model and appropriately updated in other places, where it is used. The only problem: initial selections are not displayed in my ComboBoxes. I don't know why..? Instance of the ViewModel is assigned to view DataContext. Here is grid with ComboBoxes (grid is binded to the SquadPlayers property of ViewModel): <data:DataGrid ="True" AutoGenerateColumns="False" ItemsSource="{Binding SquadPlayers}"> <data:DataGrid.Columns> <data:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Rig." Width="50"> <data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ComboBox SelectedItem="{Binding Rigid, Mode=TwoWay}" ItemsSource="{Binding IntLevels, Mode=TwoWay}"/> </DataTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn> </data:DataGrid.Columns> </data:DataGrid> Here is ViewModel class ('_model_DataReceivedEvent' method is called asynchronously, when data are received from server): public class SquadViewModel : ViewModelBase<SquadModel> { public SquadViewModel() { SquadPlayers = new ObservableCollection<SquadPlayer>(); } private void _model_DataReceivedEvent(List<SostavPlayerData> allReadyPlayers) { TeamTask task = new TeamTask { Rigid = 1 }; foreach (SostavPlayerData spd in allReadyPlayers) { SquadPlayer sp = new SquadPlayer(spd, task); SquadPlayers.Add(sp); } RaisePropertyChanged("SquadPlayers"); } And here is SquadPlayer class (it's objects are binded to the grid rows): public class SquadPlayer : INotifyPropertyChanged { public SquadPlayer(SostavPlayerData spd) { _spd = spd; Rigid = 2; } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; private int _rigid; public int Rigid { get { return _rigid; } set { _rigid = value; if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("Rigid")); } } } private readonly ObservableCollection<int> _statIntLevels = new ObservableCollection<int> { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 }; public ObservableCollection<int> IntLevels { get { return _statIntLevels; } } It is expected to have all "Rigid" comboboxes set to "2" value, but they are not selected (items are in the drop-down list, and if any value is selected it is going to ViewModel). What is wrong with this example? Any help will be welcome. Thanks.

  • Using HTTP Pipelining with Jetty HTTPClient

    - by jrogi
I'm trying to figure out how to use HTTPClient (org.eclipse.jetty.client.HttpClient) so it will pipeline HTTP Request. I've tried to create some HttpExchange instances and applying the send() method for each, in an asynchronous mode, but each HTTP request has waited for it response before the next request was sent. Can you please supply a code snippet for this case?

  • Windows XP SP3 TCP/IP No buffer space available

    - by Natalia
I have the exactly same problem as here: Windows XP TCP/IP No buffer space available On Windows XP Pro, SP3 if one does an experiment where one tries to open TCP/IP sockets in a loop (bascially, listen port 7000, listen port 7001, etc.) After approx 649 open sockets, one will start getting errors: No buffer space available (maximum connections reached?) I've tried to edit the registry as described here http://smallvoid.com/article/winnt-tcpip-max-limit.html I set MaxUserPort = 65534 and MaxFreeTcbs = 2000, but it didn't help. What else can I do? I need 1000 server sockets. Here is the error stack: 05.04.2012 10:23:57 java.net.SocketException: No buffer space available (maximum connections reached?): listen at sun.nio.ch.ServerSocketChannelImpl.listen(Native Method) at sun.nio.ch.ServerSocketChannelImpl.bind(ServerSocketChannelImpl.java:127) at sun.nio.ch.ServerSocketAdaptor.bind(ServerSocketAdaptor.java:59) at sun.nio.ch.ServerSocketAdaptor.bind(ServerSocketAdaptor.java:52) at channelserver.NIOAppServer.initSelector(NIOAppServer.java:40) at channelserver.NIOAppServer.(NIOAppServer.java:27) at channelserver.NIOServer.main(NIOServer.java:433) at channelserver.NIOServer.main(NIOServer.java:438)

  • Silverlight MVVM ListBoxItem IsSelected

    - by Lee
I have a collection of ViewModels bound to a ListBox. I am trying to bind the IsSelected properties of each together. In WPF it works by setting the style: <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}"> <Setter Property="IsSelected" Value="{Binding Path=IsSelected, Mode=TwoWay}" /> </Style> This does not work in Silverlight. How can I accomplish this?

  • install PECL JSON in PHP 5.04

    - by Radu Maris
It's OK (compatible) to install PECL native JSON (from here) in PHP 5.0.4, on a production server running FC4 where unfortunately I cannot update PHP to at least 5.2 ? If there is a good chance to screw up PHP instalation on the server, I will not try to install it, and I will stick to Service JSON ( http ://svn.php.net/viewvc/pear/packages/Services_JSON/trunk/ ) In documentation ( http ://aurore.net/projects/php-json/ ) I have found: A simple ./configure; make; make install should do the trick. Make sure to add an extension=json.so line to your php.ini/php.d. (but I can't find anythink about compatible versions of PHP) Thank you. (Please don't tell me to update the OS and PHP, beacause it's not my decision :( )

  • How to acquire still webcam image

    - by Silv3rSurf
I need some help deciding what to use to acquire an image from a webcam. I want to acquire a single image. I know you can typically acquire a still image at a higher resolution than a single video frame. Currently, I am using MATLAB's image acquisition toolbox.. which apparently only supports obtaining frames in video mode(so lower resolution). Which other libraries do you recommend? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

  • Does JUnit4 testclasses require a public no arg constructor?

    - by Thomas Baun
    I have a test class, written in JUnit4 syntax, that can be run in eclipse with the "run as junit test" option without failing. When I run the same test via an ant target I get this error: java.lang.Exception: Test class should have public zero-argument constructor at org.junit.internal.runners.MethodValidator.validateNoArgConstructor(MethodValidator.java:54) at org.junit.internal.runners.MethodValidator.validateAllMethods(MethodValidator.java:39) at org.junit.internal.runners.TestClassRunner.validate(TestClassRunner.java:33) at org.junit.internal.runners.TestClassRunner.<init>(TestClassRunner.java:27) at org.junit.internal.runners.TestClassRunner.<init>(TestClassRunner.java:20) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.java:27) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Constructor.java:513) at org.junit.internal.requests.ClassRequest.getRunner(ClassRequest.java:26) at junit.framework.JUnit4TestAdapter.<init>(JUnit4TestAdapter.java:24) at junit.framework.JUnit4TestAdapter.<init>(JUnit4TestAdapter.java:17) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.java:27) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Constructor.java:513) at org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.optional.junit.JUnitTestRunner.run(JUnitTestRunner.java:386) at org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.optional.junit.JUnitTestRunner.launch(JUnitTestRunner.java:911) at org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.optional.junit.JUnitTestRunner.main(JUnitTestRunner.java:768) Caused by: java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: dk.gensam.gaia.business.bonusregulering.TestBonusregulerAftale$Test1Reader.<init>() at java.lang.Class.getConstructor0(Class.java:2706) at java.lang.Class.getConstructor(Class.java:1657) at org.junit.internal.runners.MethodValidator.validateNoArgConstructor(MethodValidator.java:52) I have no public no arg constructor in the class, but is this really necessary? This is my ant target <target name="junit" description="Execute unit tests" depends="compile, jar-test"> <delete dir="tmp/rawtestoutput"/> <delete dir="test-reports"/> <mkdir dir="tmp/rawtestoutput"/> <junit printsummary="true" failureproperty="junit.failure" fork="true"> <classpath refid="class.path.test"/> <classpath refid="class.path.model"/> <classpath refid="class.path.gui"/> <classpath refid="class.path.jfreereport"/> <classpath path="tmp/${test.jar}"></classpath> <batchtest todir="tmp/rawtestoutput"> <fileset dir="${build}/test"> <include name="**/*Test.class" /> <include name="**/Test*.class" /> </fileset> </batchtest> </junit> <junitreport todir="tmp"> <fileset dir="tmp/rawtestoutput"/> <report todir="test-reports"/> </junitreport> <fail if="junit. failure" message="Unit test(s) failed. See reports!"/> </target> The test class have no constructors, but it has an inner class with default modifier. It also have an anonymouse inner class. Both inner classes gives the "Test class should have public zero-argument constructor error". I am using Ant version 1.7.1 and JUnit 4.7

  • Keyboard Typing Problem

    - by Wietse G
Hello all, When i got home from work yesterday i couldn't logg in on my account on my desktop pc (Acer Aspire M5620). The reason for this was that when i was typing, more diggets would appear than i pressed. After logging on an account that required no password (my Dad's) i found out that some of my key bindings were messed up. For instance when typing: W --- qwe would appear q --- qw + right mouse e --- we a --- as s --- asd d --- sd z --- zx x --- zxc c --- xc Moreover pressing: 1 --- 12 2 --- 123 3 --- 23 I am typing this from my Dad's laptop (which is working like a charm). I was wondering if anyone has seen this problem before and thus knows a way to fix it. I'm not the brainy type when it comes to computers. Ps: I apologise for any mistakes in my English, for it is not my native tongue. I'm from the Netherlands

  • Am I compiling with x64 JDK?

    - by Mike
Hi, Do I have the 64 bit of JDK installed on my machine? My java -version says: C:\Documents and Settings\Administratorjava -version java version "1.6.0_20" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 16.3-b01, mixed mode) Should I expect a performance improvement in using a 64 bit compiler versus a 32 bit one? Thanks, Mike

  • WPF binding behaviour different when bound property is declared as interface vs class type?

    - by Jay
This started with weird behaviour that I thought was tied to my implementation of ToString(), and I asked this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2916068/why-wont-wpf-databindings-show-text-when-tostring-has-a-collaborating-object It turns out to have nothing to do with collaborators and is reproducible. When I bind Label.Content to a property of the DataContext that is declared as an interface type, ToString() is called on the runtime object and the label displays the result. When I bind TextBlock.Text to the same property, ToString() is never called and nothing is displayed. But, if I change the declared property to a concrete implementation of the interface, it works as expected. Is this somehow by design? If so, any idea why? To reproduce: Create a new WPF Application (.NET 3.5 SP1) Add the following classes: public interface IFoo { string foo_part1 { get; set; } string foo_part2 { get; set; } } public class Foo : IFoo { public string foo_part1 { get; set; } public string foo_part2 { get; set; } public override string ToString() { return foo_part1 + " - " + foo_part2; } } public class Bar { public IFoo foo { get { return new Foo {foo_part1 = "first", foo_part2 = "second"}; } } } Set the XAML of Window1 to: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <StackPanel> <Label Content="{Binding foo, Mode=Default}"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding foo, Mode=Default}"/> </StackPanel> </Window> in Window1.xaml.cs: public partial class Window1 : Window { public Window1() { InitializeComponent(); DataContext = new Bar(); } } When you run this application, you'll see the text only once (at the top, in the label). If you change the type of foo property on Bar class to Foo (instead of IFoo) and run the application again, you'll see the text in both controls.

  • Input not supported message when monitor is powered off then back on

    - by Jason Down
I've been getting a message on my monitor where "Input not supported" is floating around. This only happens when I manually turn the monitor off and then later turn it back on. Leaving the monitor on and allowing it to go to the screen saver doesn't seem to cause the issue (but I prefer to turn the monitor off if I'm going to be away from the computer for any length of time). Any ideas what might cause this, only when the monitor is turned off manually? Specs: Acer X203w mointor Radeon 9600 Pro Video card Linux Mint 8 Resolution 1680 x 1050 (16:10 - Preferred native resolution for the monitor) Refresh Rate 60hz Here is what is in my xorg.conf file: Section "Device" Identifier "Radeon 9600" Driver "ati" BusID "PCI:1:0:0" Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" Option "AccelMethod" "XAA" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Device "Radeon 9600" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1680x1050" "1440x900" "1024x768" EndSubSection EndSection Section "DRI" Mode 0666 EndSection Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Enable" EndSection
