  • How do Tomcat examples work?

I just installed Tomcat 6 on my Mac to play around with it, and every tutorial I look at says the first thing to do to create a new web application is to add a line to the server.xml file with defines a new Context. Fair enough. However, my question is, I don't see a line in there for the example web applications, so how do those work?

    We have a application which is triggered from browser. This application consumes around 800 mb of memory. This works perfectly when invoked from any browsers in windows OS. The same application when triggered from MacOS throws an out of memory exception which occurs when the application is short of memory. Is there any way to increase the memory allocated for apps running in mac os environment. Also please let me know how JVM arguments can be passed to apps started through java webstart in macOS.

    I want to downgrade to SL3 on my Mac after accidently installing SL4 Beta. I've tried the SL3 uninstall procedure: rm -rf /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/Silverlight.plugin rm -rf /Library/Receipts/Silverlight*.pkg rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Silverlight But still get an error message when I try to install SL3 saying there is a newer version there. Anyone got any input on how to do this ?

I am aware of the Birt project, but I could not find any hints about how to implement it within a RCP programm and how to invoke the standard print dialog and how to pass the Birt generated report to the printer.     I have an 8GB Kingston compact Flash, and when I insert it into my mac it says that card is unredable and ask me for initialization. If i open Utilty Disk it show a card of 2,2 TB Generic Comact Flash, if I try to initialize that it give me error: POSIX reports: impossible to allocate memory. How i can format that ? There's a way with fdisk or smt to get this card work ? Thanks

When calling the third method via a PHP soap client it returns an 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' exception.     I've read some conflicting articles on Macbooks and memory upgrades. Some say you have to buy the "special" Mac memory (bulls$%t), others say manufacturers like Partriot and Ocz will work fine. My Macbook (non-pro) is about 6 mos old with it's 2 GB of memory (SO-DIMM 1066MHz DDR3). Does anyone have any definitive information of what will work? Thanks!

  • Can't import matplotlib

    I installed matplotlib using the Mac disk image installer for MacOS 10.5 and Python 2.5. I installed numpy then tried to import matplotlib but got this error: ImportError: numpy 1.1 or later is required; you have 2.0.0.dev8462. It seems to that version 2.0.0.dev8462 would be later than version 1.1 but I am guessing that matplotlib got confused with the ".dev8462" in the version. Is there any workaround to this?

  • bash: expanding variables with spaces

    i have a file called physics 1b.sh in bash, if i try x="physics 1b" grep "string" "$x".sh grep complains: grep: physics 1b: No such file or directory. However, when i do grep "string" physics\ 1b.sh it works fine. So i guess the problem is something to do with the variable not being expanded to include the backslash that grep needs to recognize the space. How do i get this to work? using bash 3.2, mac os 10.6.
