  • iPhone/Android: How to Send Keystrokes To Laptop Over Wifi?

    How can I best implement a system for send keystrokes/commands via an iPhone and/or Droid to a desktop or laptop computer via WiFi or bluetooth? There are apps for VLC, Keynote and other applications that do this, so I know it's possible but don't know what technology base to use. The implementation is probably different on Windows and OS X, but if they could be similar that'd be a big win. If VNC-type technology is used, that'd be fine but I only need to send key commands and mouse clicks—I don't need to be able to navigate the screen space.

However, there is no need to update widget if it is currently invisible, which means: screen is turned off another app is running widget is placed on another (invisible) home screen tab What is the best way to update only visible widget every minute - without waking up device nor doing unnecessary computations? After widget becomes visible, small lag before update is acceptable.

  • How do you retrieve the array adapter currently set for a spinner? Android OS, Droid

    Looking to create a menu toggle that switches between two possible arrays for a spinner. For example, if the spinner is set to show array A, then when I press this menu button, I want the spinner to be set to array B. If I press it again, I want it to be set back to array A. I can handle the if/then statements and all, but how do I call the spinner's array adapter? I know how to call its value using getSelectedItemPosition(); but is there a similar method for retrieving WHICH array it is currently set to?

Sometimes it's takes quite a while to load the page, and in these cases I want to be able to use the built in back button on the phone to cancel the loading and go back to my application. How do I do this? Is there some way I can listen to the backbutton while loading the url?

    I have a query result set which I like to edit first and then put it to my ListView. Without editing my data first, I could use SimpleCursorAdapter like that: ListAdapter adapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter( this, R.layout.list_item, mCursor, new String[] { "address", "city" }, new int[] { R.id.address, R.id.zip_city }); this.setListAdapter(adapter); But now, I put everything in a multidimensional array like that: if(mCursor.isFirst()) { //create a new array String[][] listData = new String[mCursor.getCount()][3]; int i = 0; do { listData[i] = new String[] { mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndex("address")), mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndex("zip")) + " " + mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndex("city")), calculateDistance(Double.parseDouble(mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndex("diff")))) }; i++; } while(mCursor.moveToNext()); } So my problem is now, I have no idea how to put this to my ListView.   • How can i get notifications from server to android device?

    I am creating a app wherein user shares some information. This data i am storing it in database through servlets i.e. i am calling my own servlets which will take data through url and store it in database. So i want other users of that same app to get notify that some information is available and in turn they will get the information that other user has updated. For this to work we can use polling or pusher. But polling will take lots of battery power. I have tried C2DM but its not working for me. So i am thinking for some other mechanism by which i can implement other than C2DM. Please suggest some way to work it. and e.g. if u have came across.

  • How to disable the third zoom button in webview of Android ?

    I want to disable the third button that creates a rectangle to zoom in other than +/- buttons in my WebView which uses builtin zoom controls. How can I do that ? I am able to do this for WebView without using built-in zoom controls by myWebview.getZoomControls().getTouchables().get(2).setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE); But how to do the same for built-in zoom controls ? Also I am extending the WebView class and overriding the onTouchEvent for tracking touch events inside my WebView as this is not possible by default, since zoom buttons consumes the touch event.
