  • DIV tags not being properly nested.

    I have created some <div> tags and am setting it to contain two <div> tags that are floated to both sides of the <div>. I noticed when I tried to set a background color that the containing <div> was not properly wrapping around the <div>s that its supposed to contain. I would like to know why this happens. I have seen a similar question here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/611220/why-are-these-div-tags-not-nesting-properly but no one has explained why this happens in any of the answers.

    Hello, I have a form that as an action returns a download. The problem is that the page will pop-out the download, and you can save it, but it will not allow another form submit. i was thinking of doing a page refresh after the submit. But i cant figure out how to do that and not stop the download. Do you have any ideas. Thanks

(The JS file is on another domain.) I'm wondering if it's valid to do the following for convenience sake: <script type="text/javascript" src="//cdn.example.com/js_file.js"></script> I'm wondering if it's valid to remove the http: or https: ? It seems to work everywhere I have tested, but are there any cases where it doesn't work?

    I'm relatively new to CSS, and have used it to change the style and formatting of text. I would now like to use it to insert text as shown below: <span class="OwnerJoe">reconcile all entries</span> Which I hope I could get to show as: Joe's Task: reconcile all entries That is, simply by virtue of being of class "Owner Joe", I want the text Joe's Task: to be displayed. I could do it with code like: <span class="OwnerJoe">Joe's Task:</span> reconcile all entries. But that seems awfully redundant to both specify the class and the text. Is it possible to do what I'm looking for? EDIT One idea is to try to set it up as a ListItem <li> where the "bullet" is the text "Joe's Task". I see examples of how to set various bullet-styles and even images for bullets. Is it possible to use a small block of text for the list-bullet?

  • How do I use price data in one table for a calculation that is stored in another table?

    I'm still leanring PHP/MySQL but have learned quite a bit thanks to codies on StackOverflow. I'm trying to setup a sort of room reservations system using two tables: SETUP: Room price table: Has, prices for a type room a client may want to rent as well as the dates (day of week) they wish to use it. Pricing varies based on day of the week and per room. I've setup a different table for each room type as each room type carries different pricing for each day of the week. So, There is an Alpha room table, Bravo room, etc. Within Alpha table are headers for the days of the week with pricing pre-entered into the rows. Client info table: Has the name, address, date of room use, etc data for the specific client. EXAMPLE: Alpha-room price table: Sun = $100; Mon = $200; Tue=$300 and so on. Bravo-room price table: Sun = $100; Mon = $200; Tue=$300 and so on. Client data table: ClientName; date-of-room-use; address; day_subtotal; grand_total. QUESTION: I'm trying to find PHP code that will: look at the date of room use in the client data table, look up the associated cost for that date in the specific room pricing table, record that unit cost in the day subtotal of the client data table and sum a grand total in the grand total row of the client data table (assuming the room may be used more than one day by the customer). I know there's something to do with join but I'm finding it difficult to grasp the concept and, if someone can demonstrate using this example, I think I will have a better understanding of how to work this sort of transaction.     Hi - I'm using DataTables to dress up a table I'm using to display XML results based on an XSL transformation. I have everything working from a technical sense (paging, sorting, filtering), but I'm trying to figure out to use a ThemeRoller theme to make it look like they have on their website. So far, I have added the following file to my project with its reference: <link type="text/css" href="css/custom-theme/jquery-ui-1.8.7.custom.css" rel="stylesheet"/> and enabled ThemeRoller themes using the following as per the DataTables website: $(document).ready(function() { $('#mainTable').dataTable( { "bJQueryUI": true, "sPaginationType": "two_button" }); }); The table gets styled, but it doesn't look right with the header rows being too wide and things being on multiple lines that should be on one line. Any indication as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks very much in advance.

    My output for my table in HTML has several columns such as userid, name, age, dob. The table heading is simply the title of the column name, I want this to be a link, and when clicked, the selected column is sorted in order, ASC, and then DESC (on next click). I thought this was pretty straight forward but I'm having some difficulty. So far, I have produced this, and no output is taken, apart from the URL works by displaying 'users.php?orderby=userid' <?php if(isset($_GET['orderby'])){ $orderby = $_GET['orderby']; $query_sv = "SELECT * FROM users BY ".mysql_real_escape_string($orderby)."   • firefox object height ignored when data

    I have a flash video loading in a modal window. It works in others browsers but not Firefox. Firefox opens the modal window to the correct width of the object, but with no height. I have come to learn that Firefox does not recognize <param> and instead uses the data attribute. However, when I remove this attribute, the modal opens with correct height. What is going on? Now I want to save the Table in the localStorage, so I can load it again.     I'm using the JQuery validation plug to validate my entire form. I also have a dynamic table on my registration page where the user can register more people. I can validate the rest of the form fine but my goal is to validate the table inputs just the same. Here is my jfiddle code: tables I don't know why the add line won't work there but it definitely works on my page. Anyway, that code ends up validate ONLY the first row of my table, but I want it to validate every single row. Can anyone see any problems with the code?
