  • HTML not updating?

    I have a CGI application written in C. When I POST delete data to the app from the html form, the action is correctly executed on the server but the page does not refresh after the POST. It does flicker, but displays the non-updated page. I then have to hit the browsers refresh to see the correct html page. Is this the web server? Javascript? or just a browser setting? (I am using GoAhead web server, cgi app in C, javascript, html and Fire Fox.) Any help is appreciated.

  • Preventing a security breach

    I am creating a website where you "post", and the form content is saved in a MySql database, and upon loading the page, is retrieved, similar to facebook. I construct all the posts and insert raw html into a template. The thing is, as I was testing, I noticed that I could write javascript or other HTML into the form and submit it, and upon reloading, the html or JS would treated as source code, not a post. I figured that some simple encoding would do the trick, but using is not working. Is there an efficient way to prevent this type of security hole?

    I have a voting script which stores the post_id and the user_id in a table, to determine whether a particular user has already voted on a post and disallow them in the future. To do that, I am doing the following 3 queries. SELECT user_id, post_id from votes_table where postid=? AND user_id=? If that returns no rows, then: UPDATE post_table set votecount = votecount-1 where post_id = ? Then SELECT votecount from post where post_id=? To display the new votecount on the web page Any better way to do this? 3 queries are seriously slowing down the user's voting experience

  • Is JSONRequest a global Javascript object ?

    My goal is to asynchronously call a URL via POST request (REST Webservice) to increment a statistic on one of my object. I am a newby web developper and I discovered JSON yesterday. Since JSON seems a lot popular and handy I went to www.json.org and discovered a JSONRequest object which seems to able one to send POST/GET request asynchronously but I can't get it work. Is it a global Javascript object or do I need to add some files ? I am a little bit confused since I've found a Firefox plugin extension for JSONRequest but I don't understand its purpose.

    It says about the type option of the jQuery.ajax() method that The type of request to make ("POST" or "GET"), default is "GET". Note: Other HTTP request methods, such as PUT and DELETE, can also be used here, but they are not supported by all browsers. So... Does that mean that PUT and DELETE won't work if the browser does not support it, or just that PUT and DELETE can not be done natively by the user in the browser? If I can't or shouldn't use those, what do people usually do instead? Send the method as a a GET or POST parameter instead? Or?

  • C#/XNA Giant Memory Leak

    this is my first post here. I'm making a game in Visual Studio 2010 using XNA, and i've hit a giant memory leak. My game starts out using 17k ram and then after ten minutes it's upto 65k. I ran some memory profilers, and they all say that new instances of the String object are being created, but they aren't live. The amount of live instances of String hasn't changed at all. It's also creating instances of Char[] (which i'd expect from it), Object[], and StringBuilder. My game is pretty new but there's too much code to post here. I have no idea how to get rid of instances that aren't live, please help!

  • Wordpress meta data is written on top of page instead of the loop

    i'm building a wordpress webpage based on the Skeleton Wordpress theme. I have 2 posts showing on a page and each of these posts have custom fields values (meta data). Im using the shortcode from the skeleton theme to get a post-feed from a specific category and in that loop i have inserted this tag that displays the custom fields data <?php the_meta(); ?> I am getting the data - but the problem is, the data is shown on TOP of the page instead of inside the in the post. What could've ive possibly done wrong? or is it something with skeleton i am doing wrong?   • Is a selector like *+* safe to use?

    I recently came across this CSS selector while trying to find a way to easily space out major blog elements such as paragraphs and images. An example of its use would be something like this: .post *+* {margin-top: 15px;} /* or... */ .post > *+* {margin-top: 15px;} /* if you don't want the margin to apply to nested elements */ At first glance, it seemed pretty useful. So my question is: What downsides are there to using these selectors? Specifically: What's the browser support like for this? Are there any cases you wouldn't want an even margin spacing between elements in an article and if not, is it easier to declare this first and then overwrite or simply declare each element individually? Does this have performance issues since you're selecting everything twice?

  • More HTTP verbs with AS3?

    I'm developing a social game in Flash with a team of developers. Our server-side guy has developed a really slick RESTful API for the Flash client to talk to. A lot of the client-server interactions involve adding and removing objects from a persistent world, so the API makes extensive use of the PUT and DELETE verbs. The problem is, the URLRequest object in AS3 only supports the GET and POST verbs. We're on a strict schedule, and we'd really rather not have to rewrite the whole API to just use GET and POST. Has anyone come up with a good way to get Flash to send other verbs?

    Hi All, Is it possible to post, say like a value in a textbox, to 2 different ajax forms that are on the same page? It doesn't have to be at the same time? What I'm trying to do is this: I have a search page that searches for customers and displays them on a paged grid. Users can specify up to 5 parameters (5 textboxes) to narrow the search. On the same page I have an export option. Well since I want all the customers for the search and not just the paged data I need a way to post back to the server for this option passing the same parameters used in the grid. I'm using a ViewModel which would be nice if I can pass that back to the server rather than the individual search fields that are backed by the view model. Thanks, rodchar

    I want to send data to server by enclosing it in a form. However, in asp.net I can't use more than one form with runat=server attribute. Then what is the use of using multiple forms on asp.net page. I can't access the data on the server? Like facebook enclose each post feedback data in a form and then submits this to server. How to do this in asp.net. I have to send data to server when some action occurs on a post but will have to store hiddenfield and read it with javascript is it not seems messy?

  • How do I execute an action in drupal after each time a node is saved?

    I'm developing an Action in Drupal which is supposed to activate after saving a node, exporting content to XML (which includes data from the node that was just saved), using the "Trigger: After saving an updated post" trigger. Unfortunately this action actually happens right before the information from the recently saved post is saved to the database. ie. when looking at the XML later, I find that the most recent change I made was not included. Saving after editing a different node will restore the previously missing data. How can I get my action to fire after the saving process is complete?

  • MySQL returns fewer rows with GROUP BY statement

    I've got a MySQL database that stores image information. Right now it only has three rows stored in the database, and each row is associated with something like, for instance, a unique blog post via a key column. As of right now, one "blog post key" has one image, and one has two images in the database. When I run this query, MySQL returns all three rows. SELECT `id`, `key`, `url` FROM (`images`) WHERE `key` = 'TpaS4G5h' OR `key` = '78855e44' However, when i add the GROUP BY statement I only get two rows... one for each key. SELECT `id`, `key`, `url` FROM (`images`) WHERE `key` = 'TpaS4G5h' OR `key` = '78855e44' GROUP BY `key` I'm sure there is a simple solution, but I don't know what it is... so any help would be really appreciated.     I have read a lot of approaches regarding placement of the footer in a webpage with CSS. Between others i found solutions, within SO too. The problem is (i think) that most of them, do not apply in asp pages. So the question is how can i place the footer with pure CSS in Asp pages? Before you post your answer, you have to take in mind the following. I use a master page (If this one has anything to do) The webpage contains the form element, which i believe destroys the placing of the footer in the bottom of the webpage. <form name="aspnetForm" method="post" action="Default.aspx" id="aspnetForm"> So, you may start down-voting, but i think a different approach exists regarding footer placement with CSS in Asp.Net pages
