  • $(document).ready() and partial view load

    I am developing an application using Asp.net mvc and jquery. I'd like to use the same naming convention (classes and ids) for html elements in different views. In case when I want to load a partial view asynchronously, the $(document).ready() piece of code in the main view loses its usefulness because none of the patial view's html tags and css naming is recognized by jquery. I certainly do not want to write the same code for every view. What's th ebest way to solve this issue?

    I have this piece of code (or similar) in many of our views: private IEventAggregator eventAggregator; Constructor() { eventAggregator = ServiceLocator.Current.GetInstance<IEventAggregator>(); ... } I read from this post that ServiceLocator.Current can throw NullReferenceException (bad thing on a constructor) but I was wondering if the GetInstance<() method can return null (or some other inconsistent object) making eventAggregator dangerous to use later in other methods. NOTE: I'm quite new to MVVM and WPF

I have been using the JQuery load() functionality to load page contents from other static pages but I feel I am wasting precious bandwidth loading the entire JQuery library when I'm only using a small piece of it. With this said should we be avoiding libraries when only using small pieces of them?

    I'm sending a byte array to a piece of hardware. The first 7 bytes contain data and the 8th byte is a checksum. The 8th byte is the Least Significant Byte of the sum of the first 7 bytes. Examples that include the correct checksum. The last byte of each of these is the checksum 200-30-7-5-1-2-0-245 42-0-0-1-176-0-148-39 42-0-0-3-177-0-201-118 How do I calculate the checksum?     I am creating a CompositeControl in VB ASP.NET. My control has an Ajax TabContainer with several TabPanels. I need to code it so a value on the querystring can set the container's ActiveTab. Regardless of the querystring piece of this issue, in my CreateChildControl code, I am setting the ActiveTabIndex to a valid index position, but the UI still has the index 0 as active. Any tips? Any help?

How can I make it automatic, i.e., like say if I want the grid to be refreshed after every five seconds?

(note the same thing happens by calling $("#skills").html("some new text") with JQuery)

    consider this piece of scala swing code detail.reactions +={ case ButtonClicked(but) = detail.contents += new Label(but.text) detail.background = new java.awt.Color(0,255,0) } the detail is of FlowPanel type. When the button is clicked, the color is instantly repainted, but the Label is not. It gets visible as I click the area. How can I force the detail to repaint its contents after a click?

    I am optimizing the startup of a WinForms app. One issue I identified is the loading of the splash screen form. It takes about half a second to a second. I know that multi-threading is a no-no on UI pieces, however, seeing how the splash screen is a fairly autonomous piece of the application, is it possible to somehow mitigate its performance hit by throwing it one some other thread (perhaps in the way Chrome does it), so that the important pieces of the application can actually get going.
