  • With jQuery and I need help getting individual table row titles attributes from an xml file

    - by bfsarmi
    I'm usig tablesorter jQuery to parse this xml file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?> <CATALOG> <CD> <TITLE>Title 01</TITLE> <ARTIST>Artist 01</ARTIST> <COUNTRY>Country 01</COUNTRY> <PRICE>10.00</PRICE> <YEAR>2010</YEAR> <INFO>Tooltip Info 01</INFO> </CD> <CD> <TITLE>Title 02</TITLE> <ARTIST>Artist 02</ARTIST> <COUNTRY>Country 02</COUNTRY> <PRICE>9.00</PRICE> <YEAR>2009</YEAR> <INFO>Tooltip Info 02</INFO> </CD> <CD> <TITLE>Title 03</TITLE> <ARTIST>Artist 03</ARTIST> <COUNTRY>Country 03/COUNTRY> <PRICE>8.00</PRICE> <YEAR>2008</YEAR> <INFO>Tooltip Info 03</INFO> </CD> </CATALOG> and with this code <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "file.xml", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml){ $(xml).find("CD").each(function(){ $("#tablebody").append('<tr><td>' + $(this).find("TITLE").text() + '</td><td>'+ $(this).find("ARTIST").text() + '</td><td>'+ $(this).find("COUNTRY").text() + '</td><td>'+ $(this).find("PRICE").text() + '</td><td>'+ $(this).find("YEAR").text() + '</td></tr>'); }); } }); }); </script> I'm new at javascript and have been trying with no luck for a couple of hrs to get the text from the INFO/INFO tags in the xml file to show as title attributes for each table row. The reason for that is that I need to have individual popup tooltips on mouse-over each table row. Many Thanks in advance for any kind of help or suggestions!

  • jquery animation problem using stop

    - by Flanders
    Hi! When running a Jquery animation like slideDown(), it looks like a number of element-specific css properties is set to be updated at a specific interval and when the animation is complete these properties are unset and the display property is simply set to auto or whatever. At least in firebug you can't see those temporary properties any more. The problem I've encountered is the scenario where we stop the slide down with stop(). The element is then left with the current temporary css values. Which is fine because it has to, but let us say that I stoped the slidedown because I have decided to slide it back up again a bit prematurely. It would look something like this: $(this).slideDown(2000) //The below events is not in queue but will rather start execute almost simultaneously as the above line. (dont remember the exact syntax) $(this).delay(1000).stop().slideUp(2000) The above code might not make much sense, but the point is: After 1 second of sliding down the animation is stopped and it starts to slide back up. Works like a charm. BUT!!! And here is the problem. Once it it has slid back up the elements css properties are reset to the exact values it had 1000ms into the slideDown() animation (when stop() was called). If we now try to run the following: $(this).slideDown(2000) It will slide down to the very point the prior slideDown was aborted and not further at half the speed (since it uses the same time for approximately half the height). This is because the css properties were saved as I see it. But it is not especially wished for. Of course I want it to slide all the way down this time. Due to UI interaction that is hard to predict everything might soon break. The longer animations we use increases the risk of something like this happening. Is this to be considered a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Or maybe it's just a feature that is not supported? I guess I can use a callback function to reset the css properties, but depending on the animation used, different css properties are used to render it, and covering your back would result in quite a not-so-fancy solution.

  • jquery how to determine event triggered with .trigger() or with .event()

    - by Tony_M
    I have a selectbox. <select onchange="javascript:changePropertyDropdown('3','0','0','1',this.value,'80','50'); hideCart()" size="1" class="inputbox" id="property_id_prd_3_0_1" name="property_id_prd_3_0_1[]"> <option selected="selected" value="0">Select an option</option> <option value="1">38</option> <option value="2">40</option> <option value="3">42</option> <option value="4">43</option> </select> and some button which triggered change event for selectbox : $('div.attribute_wrapper select').bind('cascadeSelect',function(e, pAttr){ $(this).val(pAttr); }); Call it like this (prodAttr come with ajax): $('div.productImgGallery img').click(function(){ $('div.attribute_wrapper select').trigger('change'); }; $('div.attribute_wrapper select').change(function(){ $(this).trigger('cascadeSelect',prodAttr); }); When i call it like this, hideCart() function fires too. I need to call function changePropertyDropdown() only whith .trigger(), and changePropertyDropdown() + hideCart() on change event. How can i do this ?

  • How to get the second element using jquery

    - by Jesse
    Using this jquery code I am trying to change the display from none to block for the second ul under Sale which is under Belts (It has a belts-1 href). The below code should be accessing the second element but its not. What am I doing wrong? $currentCategory = "Belts"; $(".sideCatMenu a:contains('" + currentCategory + "') ul").next(ul).eq(2).css('display', 'block'); I am searching this list <li class="active"><a href="/sale/" class="parentSide">Sale</a><ul style="display: block;" class="subcat"> <li><a href="/accessories-3/">Accessories</a><ul style="display: none;"> <li><a href="/bags-1/">Bags</a></li> <li><a href="/wristbands/">Wristbands</a></li> <li><a href="/dog-collars/">Dog Collars</a></li> <li><a href="/wallets/">Wallets</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="/ten-dollar-buckles/">Ten Dollar Buckles</a></li> <li><a href="/belts-1/">Belts</a><ul style="display: none;"> <li><a href="/28-belts/">28" Belts</a></li> <li><a href="/30-belts/">30" Belts</a></li> <li><a href="/32-belts/">32" Belts</a></li> <li><a href="/34-belts/">34" Belts</a></li> <li><a href="/36-belts/">36" Belts</a></li> <li><a href="/38-belts/">38" Belts</a></li> <li><a href="/40-belts/">40" Belts</a></li> <li><a href="/42-belts/">42" Belts</a></li> <li><a href="/44-belts/">44" Belts</a></li> <li><a href="/46-belts/">46" Belts</a></li> <li><a href="/48-and-larger-belts/">48" and Larger Belts</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li>

  • Add a fadein fade out in jQuery, on multiple conditional statements

    - by Matthew Harwood
    Task: On click of li navigation filter show and hide content with a transitional fadein fade out. Problem I'm just guessing and checking on where to place this fadein//fadeout transition. Furthermore, I feel like my code is too inefficiency because I'm using 4 conditional statements. Would stack lead me in creating a solution to improve the overall logic of this script so I can just make a pretty transition :c? LIVE CODE jQuery Script $(document).ready(function () { //attach a single click listener on li elements $('li.navCenter').on('click', function () { // get the id of the clicked li var id = $(this).attr('id'); // match current id with string check then apply filter if (id == 'printInteract') { //reset all the boxes for muliple clicks $(".box").find('.video, .print, .web').closest('.box').show(); $(".box").find('.web, .video').closest('.box').hide(); $(".box").find('.print').show(); } if (id == 'webInteract') { $(".box").find('.video, .print, .web').closest('.box').show(); $(".box").find('.print, .video').closest('.box').hide(); $(".box").find('.web').show(); } if (id == 'videoInteract') { $(".box").find('.video, .print, .web').closest('.box').show(); $(".box").find('.print, .web').closest('.box').hide() $(".box").find('.video').show(); } if (id == 'allInteract') { $(".box").find('.video, .print, .web').closest('.box').show(); } }); HTML Selected <nav> <ul class="navSpaces"> <li id="allInteract" class="navCenter"> <a id="activeAll" class="navBg" href="#"><div class="relativeCenter"><img src="asset/img/logo30px.png" /><h3>all</h3></div></a> </li> <li id="printInteract" class="navCenter"> <a id="activePrint" class="navBg" href="#"><div class="relativeCenter"><img src="asset/img/print.gif" /><h3>print</h3></div></a> </li> <li id="videoInteract" class="navCenter"> <a id="activeVideo" class="navBg" href="#"><div class="relativeCenter"><img src="asset/img/video.gif" /><h3>video</h3></div></a> </li> <li id="webInteract" class="navCenter"> <a id="activeWeb" class="navBg" href="#"><div class="relativeCenter"><img src="asset/img/web.gif" /><h3>web</h3></div></a> </li> </ul> ps.   • Jquery: Incrimentation for each set of elements in more than 1 div

    - by Jack
    I'm making a Jquery slideshow. It lists thumbnails, that when clicked on, reveal the large image as an overlay. To match up the thumbs with the large images I'm adding attributes to each thumbnail and large image. The attributes contain a number which matches each thumb to its corresponding large image. It works when one slideshow is present on a page. But I want it to work if more than one slideshow is present. Here's the code for adding attributes to thumbs and large images: thumbNo = 0; largeNo = 0; $(this + '.slideshow_content .thumbs img').each(function() { thumbNo++; $(this).attr('thumbimage', thumbNo); $(this).attr("title", "Enter image gallery"); }); $(this + '.slideshow_content .image_container .holder img').each(function() { largeNo++; $(this).addClass('largeImage' + largeNo); }); This works. To make the incrementation work when there are two slideshows on a page, I thought I could stick this code in an each function... $('.slideshow').each(function() { thumbNo = 0; largeNo = 0; $(this + '.slideshow_content .thumbs img').each(function() { thumbNo++; $(this).attr('thumbimage', thumbNo); $(this).attr("title", "Enter image gallery"); }); $(this + '.slideshow_content .image_container .holder img').each(function() { largeNo++; $(this).addClass('largeImage' + largeNo); }); }); The problem with this is that the incrimenting operator does not reset for the second slideshow div (.slideshow), so I end up with thumbs in the first .slideshow div being numbered 1,2,3 etc.. and thumbs in the second .slideshow div being numbered 4,5,6 etc. How do I make the numbers in the second .slideshow div reset and start from 1 again? This is really hard to explain concisely. I hope someone gets the gist.

  • JQuery transition animation

    - by kk-dev11
    This program randomly selects two employees from a json-object Employees array, winnerPos is already defined. For better user experience I programmed these functions to change pictures one by one. The animation stops when the randomly selected person is shown on the screen. The slideThrough function will be triggered when the start button is pressed. function slideThrough() { counter = 0; start = true; clearInterval(picInterval); picInterval = setInterval(function () { changePicture(); }, 500); } function changePicture() { if (start) { if (counter > winnerPos) { setWinner(); start = false; killInterval(); } else { var employee = Employees[counter]; winnerPic.fadeOut(200, function () { this.src = 'img/' + employee.image; winnerName.html(employee.name); $(this).fadeIn(300); }); counter++; } } } The problem is the animation doesn't work smoothly. At first it works, but not perfect. The second time the transition happens in an irregular way, i.e. different speed and fadeIn/fadeOut differs from picture to picture. Could anyone help me to fine-tune the transition?

  • Issue with changing an attribute with jquery

    - by rshivers
    Hello, I'm having an issue with changing the attribute for an id and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I guess it doesn't help that I'm new to this also. I have a function that tests to make sure that I am pulling the correct id from the row in my form that I have dynamically created. It goes something like this: myFunction() { var id = $(id).attr("id"); alert("This is my id " + id); } This works with no problem and when I click the button assigned to alert me of my id it will give give me the id of the dynamic row in my form. The issue is now when I try to change the id with this: changeId() { var newId = $(id).attr("id", "x"); alert("This is my new id " + newId); } What happens in this case is that it will alert saying "This is my new id [object Object]" instead of giving me the new id. Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate any help with this.

  • jQuery .load(), don't show new content until images loaded

    - by Jarred
    Hi. I have been working on a jQuery photo slideshow. It scales the images to the browser size, and slides them left and right. There is no pre-determined size or aspect ratio, the script does everything on the fly. It requires that all images be fully loaded, so it can custom resize each individual image based on it's own aspect ratio ( width():height(), etc ), calculate the width of containing div, and calculate the slide distance from one image to another. As a stand-alone, it works pretty well (despite my lack of skills)! I simply hide the slideshow containing div at (document).ready, allow the images to load, then run the slideshow prep scripts at (window).load. Once this is done, it only then makes the slideshow divs, images, etc appear, properly sized, positioned and ready to roll. The ultimate goal is to be able to load in any number of slideshows without refreshing the page. The point of this is to be able to play uninterrupted background music. I know music on websites is annoying, but the target market likes it, a lot! I am using (target).load(page.php .element, function prepInsertNewShow() { //Prepare slideshow resizeImages(); slideArray(); //Show slideshow (target).fadeIn(); }); and it definitely works! The problem is that I cannot find a way to hold off on preparing and showing the new content until the images have finished loading. It is running the slideshow prep scripts (which are totally dependent on the images being fully loaded), before the images are loaded. This results in a completely jacked up show! What I want to do is this - (target).load(page.php .element, function prepInsertNewShow() { //Wait until images are loaded $('img').load( function() { //Prepare slideshow resizeImages(); slideArray(); //Show slideshow (target).fadeIn(); } }); But this doesn't seem to work, the new content is never shown. You can see a live version here. The initial gallery loads correctly, everything looks good. The only nav link that works is Galleries Engagement, which will load a new show (a containing div with multiple <img> tags). You will see that the images are not centered, the containing div and slide distances are much too small, as they were calculated using images that were not actually loaded. Is there any way I can delay handling and showing new content until it is fully loaded? Any suggestions would be most appreciated, thanks for your time! PS - It just occurred to me while typing this that a decent solution may be to insert "width=x" height="x" into the <img> tags, so the script can work from those values, even if the images have not loaded...hmm...

  • $this.attr() stops Jquery dialog from opening

    - by user342391
    I am using the following code to post my form data to player/index.php and open it in a dialog. Because I have multiple of these forms in my table I need to use $(this). But now it doesn't open in a dialog. New code (doesn't open dialog but display data in url): $("#recordingdialog").dialog({ //other options, width, height, etc... modal: true, bgiframe: true, autoOpen: false, height: 200, width: 350, draggable: true, resizeable: true, title: "Play Recording",}); $(this).click(function() { $.post('player/index.php', $(this).attr('form').serialize(), function (data) { $("#recordingdialog").html(data).dialog("open"); }); return false; }); Old code (only works on one form): $("#recordingdialog").dialog({ //other options, width, height, etc... modal: true, bgiframe: true, autoOpen: false, height: 550, width: 550, draggable: true, resizeable: true, title: "Play Recording",}); $("#wavajax button").click(function() { $.post('player/index.php', $("#wavajax").serialize(), function (data) { $("#recordingdialog").html(data).dialog("open"); }); return false; });

  • Toggling between states on 3 containers in jQuery

    - by Saif Bechan
    Hello, i have an php/mysql/ajax auction application application. Now there is a section that can have 3 states. State one, the user can place a bid.(Bid button is shown) State two, the user has to wait before he can place a new bid(number of sec is shown) State three, the user has an auto bidding system enabled.(The price maximum and amount ate shown). Now i get these values trough jquery ajax, and i want to present the user the right section. Now the code i have is as follows: if(data[i].bidwait >= 0 && data[i].amount == ''){ // In this section the user has no autobiddings, and can place a bidding $(productContainer+' .bid-wrapper').removeClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .bidwait-wrapper').addClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .autobid-wrapper').addClass('none'); }else if(data[i].bidwait < 0 && data[i].amount == ''){ // In this section the user has to wait the amount of sec to place a new bid $(productContainer+' .bid-wrapper').addClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .bidwait-wrapper').removeClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .autobid-wrapper').addClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .bidwait-text').text(data[i].bidwait * -1); }else{ // In the last section the user has the auto bidder enabled, so that is shown $(productContainer+' .bid-wrapper').addClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .bidwait-wrapper').addClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .autobid-wrapper').removeClass('none'); $(productContainer+' .amount').html(data[i].amount == 0 ? '&#8734;' : data[i].amount); $(productContainer+' .maxprice').html(data[i].maxprice == 0 ? '&#8734;' : data[i].maxprice); } This looks like an awful lot of code for something so small. I was wondering if there is an easier method to accomplish such a thing. Speed is a huge issue for me because this has to run every second in the users browser. If there is no other option i am just going to remove this option and go with a no ajax approuch. If you have been, thank you for reading!

  • Problem with running totals in jquery

    - by rshivers
    I'm having an issue trying to get an accurate running total for my calculations. When you enter numbers into the input field I get an accurate total for that line item, but the grand total comes out to a higher number. Note that this is a dynamic form and that the id's will change depending on how many form fields I have added to the form. Also, I have it set to make the calculations onKeyUp for each input field instead of a calculate button. The code that calculates a single item is this: function calcLineItem(id) { var id = $(id).attr("id"); var Item1 = $("#Item1" + id).val(); var Item2 = $("#Item2" + id).val(); var Item3 = $("#Item3" + id).val(); function calcTotal(Item1, Item2, Item3){ var total; total = Math.round((Item1 * Item2) * Item3); return total; } $("#total" + id).text(calcTotal(Item1, Item2, Item3)); calcAllFields(); } This will give me the total of this particular input field. The function at the end, calcAllFields(), is supposed to do the calculations for all items in my form to give me the grand total of all input fields: function calcAllFields(id) { var id = $(id).attr("id"); $('#target1').text($("#total" + id).map(function() { var currentValue = parseFloat(document.getElementById("currentTotal").value); var newValue = parseFloat($("#total" + id).text()); var newTotal = currentValue + newValue; document.getElementById("currentTotal").value = newTotal; return newTotal; }).get().join()); } The variable currentTotal is getting its value from a hidden field on my form: <input type="hidden" id="currentTotal" value="0"> As I enter numbers a field the calculation for that line will be accurate, but the grand total will be inaccurate because the value for currentTotal will continue to increment with every key stroke I make in the input field. Any ideas on how to avoid this from happening?

  • jquery: find common elements in 2 sets of divs

    - by tsiger
    For a markup like this: <div id="set1"> <div id="100">a div</div> <div id="101">another div</div> <div id="102">another div 2</div> <div id="120">same div</div> </div> <div id="set2"> <div id="105">a different div> <div id="101">another div</div> <div id="110">more divs</div> <div id="120">same div</div> </div> As you can see both #set1 and #set2 contain 2 divs with the same id (101, 120). Is it possible somehow with jQuery to find the common elements and add a class to the divs in #set1 that have the same id with divs in #set2? In other words after the script run the above code would look like this: <div id="set1"> <div id="100">a div</div> <div id="101" class="added">another div</div> <div id="102">another div 2</div> <div id="120" class="added">same div</div> </div> <div id="set2"> <div id="105">a different div> <div id="101">another div</div> <div id="110">more divs</div> <div id="120">same div</div> </div> EDIT playing around with it i did something but i am not sure it can go anywhere. I created an array with the ids in both sets and in Firebug i can see an array with the values var arrEl = []; $('#set1 div, #set2 div').each( function(index) { var id = $(this).attr('id'); arrEl.push(id); //maybe somehow check the array for the values that appear twice, and add the class to the //matching divs? });

  • jQuery removeClass(), how it works

    - by centro
    I have images on my page. User can add more images onto the page by clicking a button. New images are added asynchronously. Initially, each image on page use a special class to be used when the image is loaded. After the image is loaded, that class is removed. Each image being loaded has the class imageLoading: <img class="imageLoading" scr="someimage.png"> After those images are loaded, I remove that class (simplified code without details): $('img.imageLoading') .each(function(){ $(this) .load(function(){ $(this) .removeClass('imageloading'); });}); Visually, I see that style is removed. But when I run the query again: $('img.imageLoading') I see via debugging that all images, not just loading ones, are returned, i.e. it works like I didn't remove the class for the images that were already loaded. I had a look into the page source, and I saw that actually in HTML the class was not removed, though removeClass() was called. Is that behavior by design that all visual changes are applied but the class attribute is not removed in HTML code? If so, how it can be workarounded in this case. Or, probably, I missed something.

  • jQuery center multiple dynamic images in different sized containers

    - by JVK Design
    So I've found similar questions but none that answer all the questions I have and I know there must be a simple jQuery answer to this. I've got multiple images that are being dynamically placed in their own containing div that have overflow:hidden, they need to fill their containing divs and be centered(horizontally and vertically) also. The containing divs will be different sizes as well. So in short: multiple different sized images fill and center in containing div. containing divs will be different sizes. will be used multiple times on a page. Hopefully this image helps explain what I'm after. Click here to view the image. • IE is doing strange things with JQuery

    - by Syncopated
    So ... The thing is, the code works in FireFox, no problems. But when I open the same page, it gives me the following error: "Undefined is null or not an object." But when I copy the code to a localhost page, it works fine. Also when I clear my cache in IE it works, but only once, if I refresh after that one load, it gives me the same error. Here is the code: <script type="text/javascript" src="datepicker/js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var count3 = 0; var count5 = 0; var count2 = 0; var count4 = 0; $(document).ready(function(){ $('#switch3').click(function(){ $('#switchDiv3').slideToggle(350); if(count3 == 0){ count3 = 1; document.getElementById('switchImage3').src = "images/ArrowDown.png"; return; } else { count3 = 0; document.getElementById('switchImage3').src = "images/ArrowRight.png"; return; } }); ... (this is the code for each item that is generated) </script> And the code that determines the div that should hide: <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center"> <tr> <td width="20" align="center" valign="top" style="padding-right: 3px"> <a style="cursor: pointer;" id="switch3"><img width="20" height="20" src="images/ArrowRight.png" id="switchImage3" style="border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; border-color: black;"/></a> </td> <td> <div id="switchDiv3"> <div align="left"> (Contents of the div here) </div> </div> </td> </tr> </table> Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance

  • Firefox: middle mouse button stopped working

    - by diversario
    In Firefox, middle mouse button/wheel has been assigned "Open link in new tab" action for a while now, by default. Since I ran Software Update tonight, this action doesn't work in Firefox anymore. To be specific, middle mouse click doesn't open links anymore. At the same time, it closes tabs just fine (middle-click a tab == 'Close tab'). I don't know the update details, but I remember that Firefox update was there among other things. I tried running Firefox with a clean profile and middle button did work there, so something must've changed with existing settings.
