  • CustomListAdapter Problem in Android? Getting ClassCast Exception? How???

    - by Praveen Chandrasekaran
    i want to improve the list view's performance. this is the code for my getView method in my Adapter? public View getView(int arg0, View text_view_name, ViewGroup parent) { try { if (text_view_name == null) { text_view_name = mInflater.inflate( R.layout.bs_content_list_item1, null); text_view_name.setTag(R.id.text1_detail1, text_view_name .findViewById(R.id.text1_detail1)); text_view_name.setTag(R.id.text3_detail1, text_view_name .findViewById(R.id.text3_detail1)); text_view_name.setTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1, text_view_name .findViewById(R.id.eve_img_detail1)); } text1 = (TextView) text_view_name.getTag(R.id.text1_detail1); // text2 = (TextView) text_view_name.getTag(R.id.text2); text3 = (TextView) text_view_name.getTag(R.id.text3_detail1); img = (ImageView) text_view_name.getTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1); text1.setText(VAL1[arg0]); text3.setText(VAL3[arg0]); if (!mBusy) { img_value = new URL(VAL4[arg0]); mIcon11 = BitmapFactory.decodeStream(img_value.openConnection() .getInputStream()); img.setImageBitmap(mIcon11); text_view_name.setTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1, null); } else { img.setImageResource(R.drawable.icon); text_view_name.setTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1, text_view_name .findViewById(R.id.eve_img_detail1)); } } catch (Exception e) { name = "Exception in MultiLine_bar_details1 getView"; Log.v(TAG, name + e); } return text_view_name; } this is the code for scrollstatechanged method: public void onScrollStateChanged(AbsListView view, int scrollState) { switch (scrollState) { case OnScrollListener.SCROLL_STATE_IDLE: try { MultiLine_bar_details1.mBusy = false; int first = view.getFirstVisiblePosition(); int count = view.getCount(); for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) { ImageView t = (ImageView) view.getChildAt(i);// here getting the ClassCastException if (t.getTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1) != null) { MultiLine_bar_details1.img_value = new URL( MultiLine_bar_details1.VAL4[first + i]); MultiLine_bar_details1.mIcon11 = BitmapFactory .decodeStream(MultiLine_bar_details1.img_value .openConnection().getInputStream()); MultiLine_bar_details1.img.setImageBitmap(MultiLine_bar_details1.mIcon11); t.setTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1, null); } } } catch (Exception e) { Log.v(TAG, "Idle" + e); } // mStatus.setText("Idle"); break; case OnScrollListener.SCROLL_STATE_TOUCH_SCROLL: MultiLine_bar_details1.mBusy = true; break; case OnScrollListener.SCROLL_STATE_FLING: MultiLine_bar_details1.mBusy = true; break; } } getting the Exception in Idle state: 05-03 16:47:15.201: VERBOSE/BS_Bars(258): Idlejava.lang.ClassCastException: android.widget.LinearLayout this is very complicated for me to get the output properly. actually i have the listview with custom adapter. that icons makes the listview scroll very slow.i am getting the images for icons from the image urls. upto this(above code) i can improve the scroll performance of my list view. but the image icons are not proper in the corresponding order. its dynamically changing when i scroll the listview.. i refered the commonsware busy coder guide and this blog. My very Big question is "How can we access the single view in scrollstatechanged parameter AbsListView? " what is the problem in it? how to do it better? Any Idea?

  • Android - determine specific locations (X,Y coordinates) on a Bitmap on different resolutions?

    - by Mike
    My app that I am trying to create is a board game. It will have one bitmap as the board and pieces that will move to different locations on the board. The general design of the board is square, has a certain number of columns and rows and has a border for looks. Think of a chess board or scrabble board. Before using bitmaps, I first created the board and boarder by manually drawing it - drawLine & drawRect. I decided how many pixels in width the border would be based on the screen width and height passed in on "onSizeChanged". The remaining screen I divided by the number of columns or rows I needed. For examples sake, let's say the screen dimensions are 102 x 102. I may have chosen to set the border at 1 and set the number of rows & columns at 10. That would leave 100 x 100 left (reduced by two to account for the top & bottom border, as well as left/right border). Then with columns and rows set to 10, that would leave 10 pixels left for both height and width. No matter what screen size is passed in, I store exactly how many pixels in width the boarder is and the height & width of each square on the board. I know exactly what location on the screen to move the pieces to based on a simple formula and I know exactly what cell a user touched to make a move. Now how does that work with bitmaps? Meaning, if I create 3 different background bitmaps, once for each density, won't they still be resized to fit each devices screen resolution, because from what I read there were not just 3 screen resolutions, but 5 and now with tablets - even more. If I or Android scales the bitmaps up or down to fit the current devices screen size, how will I know how wide the border is scaled to and the dimensions of each square in order to figure out where to move a piece or calculate where a player touched. So far the examples I have looked at just show how to scale the overall bitmap and get the overall bitmaps width and height. But, I don't see how to tell how many pixels wide or tall each part of the board would be after it was scaled. When I draw each line and rectangle myself based in the screen dimensions from onSizeChanged, I always know these dimensions. If anyone has any sample code or a URL to point me to that I can a read about this with bitmaps, I would appreciate it. Thanks, --Mike BTW, here is some sample code (very simplified) on how I know the dimensions of my game board (border and squares) no matter the screen size. Now I just need to know how to do this with the board as a bitmap that gets scaled to any screen size. @Override protected void onSizeChanged(int w, int h, int oldw, int oldh) { intScreenWidth = w; intScreenHeight = h; // Set Border width - my real code changes this value based on the dimensions of w // and h that are passed in. In other words bigger screens get a slightly larger // border. intOuterBorder = 1; /** Reserve part of the board for the boardgame and part for player controls & score My real code forces this to be square, but this is good enough to get the point across. **/ floatBoardHeight = intScreenHeight / 4 * 3; // My real code actually causes floatCellWidth and floatCellHeight to // be equal (Square). floatCellWidth = (intScreenWidth - intOuterBorder * 2 ) / intNumColumns; floatCellHeight = (floatBoardHeight - intOuterBorder * 2) / intNumRows; super.onSizeChanged(w, h, oldw, oldh); }

  • Why / When / How is this Android serviceBinder resetting to null?

    - by GaZ
    I've written a ListActivity for Android 2.1 which is used to display a list of event categories. As the user selects a category, the program calls a web service to retrieve a list of sub-events. For example, a top level event might be "soccer" and when the user selects this the web service would return various soccer associations (e.g. "english", "french", "german", etc.) and display them in a new list. The following code seems to work occasionally, however sometimes the call to the service (in EventsListTask) fails because the serviceBinder is null. How/Why does this happen? public class EventListsActivity extends ListActivity { private static final String EVENT_ID = "EventId"; private List<ListItem> eventList; private ArrayAdapter<ListItem> listItemArrayAdapter; private static final int LOADING_DIALOG = 1; private EventsListTask eventsListTask = null; private BFService serviceBinder; private ServiceConnection mConnection = new ServiceConnection() { public void onServiceConnected(ComponentName componentName, IBinder iBinder) { Log.i("EventListsActivity", "service connected"); serviceBinder = ((BFService.BFBinder)iBinder).getService(); } public void onServiceDisconnected(ComponentName componentName) { Log.i("EventListsActivity", "service disconnected"); serviceBinder = null; } }; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { Log.i("EventListsActivity", "onCreate"); super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.list); eventList = new ArrayList<ListItem>(); listItemArrayAdapter = new ArrayAdapter<ListItem>(this, R.layout.row, eventList); setListAdapter(listItemArrayAdapter); Intent bindIntent = new Intent(this, BFService.class); bindService(bindIntent, mConnection, Context.BIND_AUTO_CREATE); int eventId = getIntent().getIntExtra(EVENT_ID, -1); if (eventsListTask == null || eventsListTask.getStatus() == AsyncTask.Status.FINISHED) { eventsListTask = new EventsListTask(); eventsListTask.execute(eventId); } } @Override protected void onDestroy() { Log.i("EventListsActivity", "destroyed"); super.onDestroy(); unbindService(mConnection); } @Override protected void onListItemClick(ListView listView, View view, int position, long id) { super.onListItemClick(listView, view, position, id); ListItem selectedItem = (ListItem) listView.getAdapter().getItem(position); Intent intent; if (selectedItem.getMarketType() != null) { intent = new Intent(this, MarketActivity.class); intent.putExtra(EVENT_ID, selectedItem.getId()); startActivityIfNeeded(intent, -1); } else if (selectedItem.getId() != -1) { intent = new Intent(this, EventListsActivity.class); intent.putExtra(EVENT_ID, selectedItem.getId()); startActivityIfNeeded(intent, -1); } else { Log.e("EventListsActivity", "unexpected item selected!"); } } @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) { switch (id) { case (LOADING_DIALOG) : AlertDialog.Builder loadingDialog = new AlertDialog.Builder(this); loadingDialog.setTitle("Please Wait..."); loadingDialog.setMessage("Communicating with remote service."); return loadingDialog.create(); } return null; } private class EventsListTask extends AsyncTask<Integer, Void, LoginStatusEnum> { @Override protected void onPreExecute() { showDialog(LOADING_DIALOG); } @Override protected void onPostExecute(LoginStatusEnum loginStatusEnum) { dismissDialog(LOADING_DIALOG); if (loginStatusEnum != null) { switch (loginStatusEnum) { case OK: for (ListItem item : eventList) { listItemArrayAdapter.add(item); } listItemArrayAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged(); break; } } } @Override protected LoginStatusEnum doInBackground(Integer... params) { LoginStatusEnum result = LoginStatusEnum.OK; Integer eventId = params[0]; if (serviceBinder != null) { try { if (eventId == null || eventId == -1) { eventList = serviceBinder.getActiveEventTypes(); } else { eventList = serviceBinder.getEvents(eventId); } } catch (WebServiceException wse) { result = LoginStatusEnum.valueOf(wse.getMessage()); } } else { Log.e("EventListsActivity", "serviceBinder is null!"); } return result; } } } EDIT: The serviceBinder appears to be set to null when I reach the bottom of a list, when I change the target intent to go to a different activity: intent = new Intent(this, MarketActivity.class); intent.putExtra(EVENT_ID, selectedItem.getId()); startActivity(intent); This new activity also uses the same background service (binds in the same way, etc.). Is there anything I need to watch out for when doing this? Am I calling the target intent incorrectly? EDIT2: Here's the output from LogCat when I start the activity which calls the service (this time the service failed straight away!): 04-02 07:02:49.147: INFO/ActivityManager(61): Starting activity: Intent { cmp=net.foobar.activity/.EventListsActivity } 04-02 07:02:49.257: INFO/EventListsActivity(353): onCreate 04-02 07:02:49.426: INFO/EventListsActivity(353): service connected 04-02 07:02:49.437: ERROR/EventListsActivity(353): serviceBinder is null!

  • Android SQLite Problem: Program Crash When Try a Query!

    - by Skatephone
    Hi i have a problem programming with android SDK 1.6. I'm doing the same things of the "notepad exaple" but the programm crash when i try some query. If i try to do a query directly in to the DatabaseHelper create() metod it goes, but out of this function it doesn't. Do you have any idea? this is the source: public class DbAdapter { public static final String KEY_NAME = "name"; public static final String KEY_TOT_DAYS = "totdays"; public static final String KEY_ROWID = "_id"; private static final String TAG = "DbAdapter"; private DatabaseHelper mDbHelper; private SQLiteDatabase mDb; private static final String DATABASE_NAME = "flowratedb"; private static final String DATABASE_TABLE = "girl_data"; private static final String DATABASE_TABLE_2 = "girl_cyle"; private static final int DATABASE_VERSION = 2; /** * Database creation sql statement */ private static final String DATABASE_CREATE = "create table "+DATABASE_TABLE+" (id integer, name text not null, totdays int);"; private static final String DATABASE_CREATE_2 = "create table "+DATABASE_TABLE_2+" (ref_id integer, day long not null);"; private final Context mCtx; private static class DatabaseHelper extends SQLiteOpenHelper { DatabaseHelper(Context context) { super(context, DATABASE_NAME, null, DATABASE_VERSION); } @Override public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db) { db.execSQL(DATABASE_CREATE); db.execSQL(DATABASE_CREATE_2); db.delete(DATABASE_TABLE, null, null); db.delete(DATABASE_TABLE_2, null, null); } @Override public void onUpgrade(SQLiteDatabase db, int oldVersion, int newVersion) { Log.w(TAG, "Upgrading database from version " + oldVersion + " to " + newVersion + ", which will destroy all old data"); db.execSQL("DROP TABLE IF EXISTS "+DATABASE_TABLE); db.execSQL("DROP TABLE IF EXISTS "+DATABASE_TABLE_2); onCreate(db); } } public DbAdapter(Context ctx) { this.mCtx = ctx; } public DbAdapter open() throws SQLException { mDbHelper = new DatabaseHelper(mCtx); mDb = mDbHelper.getWritableDatabase(); return this; } public void close() { mDbHelper.close(); } public long createGirl(int id,String name, int totdays) { ContentValues initialValues = new ContentValues(); initialValues.put(KEY_ROWID, id); initialValues.put(KEY_NAME, name); initialValues.put(KEY_TOT_DAYS, totdays); return mDb.insert(DATABASE_TABLE, null, initialValues); } public long createGirl_fd_day(int refid, long fd) { ContentValues initialValues = new ContentValues(); initialValues.put("ref_id", refid); initialValues.put("calendar", fd); return mDb.insert(DATABASE_TABLE, null, initialValues); } public boolean updateGirl(int rowId, String name, int totdays) { ContentValues args = new ContentValues(); args.put(KEY_NAME, name); args.put(KEY_TOT_DAYS, totdays); return mDb.update(DATABASE_TABLE, args, KEY_ROWID + "=" + rowId, null) > 0; } public boolean deleteGirlsData() { if (mDb.delete(DATABASE_TABLE_2, null, null)>0) if(mDb.delete(DATABASE_TABLE, null, null)>0) return true; return false; } public Bundle fetchAllGirls() { Bundle extras = new Bundle(); Cursor cur = mDb.query(DATABASE_TABLE, new String[] {KEY_ROWID, KEY_NAME, KEY_TOT_DAYS}, null, null, null, null, null); cur.moveToFirst(); int tot = cur.getCount(); extras.putInt("tot", tot); int index; for (int i=0;i<tot;i++){ index=cur.getInt(cur.getColumnIndex("_id")); extras.putString("name"+index, cur.getString(cur.getColumnIndex("name"))); extras.putInt("totdays"+index, cur.getInt(cur.getColumnIndex("totdays"))); } cur.close(); return extras; } public Cursor fetchGirl(int rowId) throws SQLException { Cursor mCursor = mDb.query(true, DATABASE_TABLE, new String[] {KEY_ROWID, KEY_NAME, KEY_TOT_DAYS}, KEY_ROWID + "=" + rowId, null, null, null, null, null); if (mCursor != null) { mCursor.moveToFirst(); } return mCursor; } public Cursor fetchGirlCD(int rowId) throws SQLException { Cursor mCursor = mDb.query(true, DATABASE_TABLE_2, new String[] {"ref_id", "day"}, "ref_id=" + rowId, null, null, null, null, null); if (mCursor != null) { mCursor.moveToFirst(); } return mCursor; } } Tank's Valerio From Italy :)

  • How do I store more information in a marker?

    - by Sebastian
    Hello, I'm using Google Maps v3 and I build in the server side a json collection of location data. So when I receive that, I iterate through that collection and create a marker object for each and every one of them. For each of these markers, I bind them with the click event, so when the user clicks on a marker in the map, it displays an infoWindow with data related to the associated location. I have an array to store all the location got from the server that holds the retrieved json objects and their corresponding marker. The problem is that, even when I have an array that I can reference or iterate through, I need to not only get the marker object when the user clicks on them, but also the location object, that stores more information. I tried to mantain this array of objects and reference it from the calling object without success, because the function is called by the marker and not the location object. So I thought if it's possible to store more information in the google maps marker object like using a general purpose field. Please let me know if more information is needed. Thanks!

  • Google Map GEO Results

    - by Lee
    Hey All I'm getting really frustrated with google geo results and hope someone can advise me the best was to go. I have created a AutoSuggest feature where you can start typing the address and google will repspond with suggestions. User then selects and address to move on. But before I want them to continue on the next page I want to validate their selection. I would have thought this will be easy as we are only checking against what google has already given. But when I do my validation lookup it displays no results. Some example code: Lets say I picked from the suggestion this address: Suffield, CT 06078, USA Then on validation I do a second lookup with this address ie. $string = "Suffield, CT 06078, USA"; echo 'http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?output=json&oe=utf8&gl=us&sensor=false&key=[MyKey]&q='.urlencode($string).''; It gives me Error code 602 (G_GEO_UNKNOWN_ADDRESS) How can it not be found when its given me the address ?? Any suggestions how I can get around this. Hope you can !

  • Loading GMaps via ajax

    - by Marco
    Hi to all, I'm loading a page containing a GMaps using the ajax() method of jQuery. The HTML page i'm loading is: <script src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&amp;v=2&amp;sensor=false&amp;key=MY_API_KEY" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map_canvas")); var geocoder = new GClientGeocoder(); geocoder.getLatLng("San Francisco, California",function(point) { if (point) { map.setCenter(point, 7); } }); map.setUIToDefault(); } }); </script> <div id="map_canvas"></div> After retrieving this page, I'm setting its contents to a div using the html() method. The map is not showed, while other pages containing scripts, loaded in the same way, are correctly shown. Is this a specific issue about GMaps, that doesn't allow to be loaded via an ajax request? Thanks

  • BroadcastReceiver not reading stored value from SharedPreferences

    - by bobby123
    In my app I have a broadcast receiver that turns on GPS upon receiving a set string of text. In the onLocationChanged method, I want to pass the GPS data and a value from my shared preferences to a thread in a string. I have the thread writing to log and can see all the GPS values in the string but the last value from my shared preferences is just showing up as 'prefPhoneNum' which I initialised the string to at the beginning of the receiver class. I have the same code to read the prefPhoneNum from shared preferences in the main class and it works there, can anyone see what I might be doing wrong? public class SmsReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver implements LocationListener { LocationManager lm; LocationListener loc; public SharedPreferences sharedpreferences; public static final String US = "usersettings"; public String prefPhoneNum = "prefPhoneNum"; @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { sharedpreferences = context.getSharedPreferences(US, Context.MODE_PRIVATE); prefPhoneNum = sharedpreferences.getString("prefPhoneNum" , ""); lm = (LocationManager)context.getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE); loc = new SmsReceiver(); //---get the SMS message passed in--- Bundle bundle = intent.getExtras(); SmsMessage[] msgs = null; String str = ""; if (bundle != null) { //---retrieve the SMS message received--- Object[] pdus = (Object[]) bundle.get("pdus"); msgs = new SmsMessage[pdus.length]; for (int i=0; i<msgs.length; i++) { msgs[i] = SmsMessage.createFromPdu((byte[])pdus[i]); str += msgs[i].getMessageBody().toString() + "\n"; } Toast.makeText(context, str, Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); //Display SMS if ((msgs[0].getMessageBody().toString().equals("Enable")) || (msgs[0].getMessageBody().toString().equals("enable"))) { enableGPS(); } else { /* Do Nothing*/ } } } public void enableGPS() { //new CountDownTimer(10000, 1000) { //10 seconds new CountDownTimer(300000, 1000) { //300 secs = 5 mins public void onTick(long millisUntilFinished) { lm.requestLocationUpdates(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER, 0, 0, loc); } public void onFinish() { lm.removeUpdates(loc); } }.start(); } @Override public void onLocationChanged(Location location) { String s = ""; s += location.getLatitude() + "\n"; s += location.getLongitude() + "\n"; s += location.getAltitude() + "\n"; s += location.getAccuracy() + "\n" + prefPhoneNum; Thread cThread = new Thread(new SocketsClient(s)); cThread.start(); } @Override public void onProviderDisabled(String provider) { } @Override public void onProviderEnabled(String provider) { } @Override public void onStatusChanged(String provider, int status, Bundle extras) { } } Here is the logcat for when the application shuts - D/LocationManager( 3912): requestLocationUpdates: provider = gps, listener = accel.working.TrackGPS@4628bce0 D/GpsLocationProvider( 96): setMinTime 0 D/GpsLocationProvider( 96): startNavigating D/GpsLocationProvider( 96): TTFF: 3227 D/AndroidRuntime( 3912): Shutting down VM W/dalvikvm( 3912): threadid=1: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x400259f8) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): FATAL EXCEPTION: main E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): java.lang.NullPointerException E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at android.content.ContextWrapper.getSharedPreferences(ContextWrapper.java:146) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at accel.working.TrackGPS.onLocationChanged(TrackGPS.java:63) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at android.location.LocationManager$ListenerTransport._handleMessage(LocationManager.java:191) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at android.location.LocationManager$ListenerTransport.access$000(LocationManager.java:124) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at android.location.LocationManager$ListenerTransport$1.handleMessage(LocationManager.java:140) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:144) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4937) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:868) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:626) E/AndroidRuntime( 3912): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method)

  • What is the correct way to create dynamic javascript in ASP.net MVC2?

    - by sabbour
    I'm creating a Google Maps partial view/user control in my project that is passed a strongly typed list of objects containing latitude and longitude values. Currently, this is the code I have for the partial: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<IEnumerable<Project.Models.Entities.Location>>" %> <!-- Place for google to put the map --> <div id="report_map_canvas" style="width: 100%; height: 728px; margin-bottom: 2px;"> </div> <script type='text/javascript'> google.load("maps", "2"); $(document).ready(initializeMap); function initializeMap() { if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById('report_map_canvas')); map.setCenter(new GLatLng(51.5, -0.1167), 2); <% foreach (var item in Model) { %> map.addOverlay(new GMarker(new GLatLng('<%= Html.Encode(item.latitude)%>','<%= Html.Encode(item.longitude)%>'),{ title: '<%= Html.Encode(String.Format("{0:F}",item.speed)) %> km/h '})); <% } %> map.setUIToDefault(); } } </script> Is it right to dynamically create the javascript file this way by looping over the list and emitting javascript? Is there a better way to do it?

  • Google map API v3 event click raise when clickingMarkerClusterer?

    - by lucian.jp
    I have a Google Map API v3 map object on a page that uses MarkerClusterer. I have a function that need to run when we click on the map to it is registered as: google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function (event) { CallMe(event.latLng); }); So my problem is as follows: When I click on a cluster of MarkerClusterer instead of behaving like a marker and not raise the click event on the map but only the one from the marker it calls the click from the map. To test this I have generated an alert from the markerclusterer click: google.maps.event.addListener(markerClusterer, "clusterclick", function (cluster) { alert('MarkerClusterer click event'); }); So the clusterclick rises after the click event of map object. I then can't remove the listener of map object as a solution. Is there any way to test if there was a clusterer click in the click event of the map? Or a way to replicate the marker behaviour and do not raise the click event of map when clustererclick is called? Google and documentation didn’t help me. Thx

  • How to get the equivalent of the accuracy in Google Map Geocoder V3

    - by Scorpi0
    Hi, I want to get geocode from google, and I used to do it with the V2 of the API. Google send in the json a pretty good information, the accuracy, reference here : http://code.google.com/intl/fr-FR/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/v2/reference.html#GGeoAddressAccuracy In V3, Google doesn't seem to send me exactly the same information. There is the array "adresse_component", which seem bigger if the accuracy is better, but not exactly. For example, I have a request accuracy to the street number, the array is of size 8. Another query is accuracy to the route, so less accuracy, but the array is style of size 8, as there is a row 'sublocality', which not appear in the first case. Ok, for a result, Google send a data 'types', which have the 'best' accuracy. This types are here : http://code.google.com/intl/fr-FR/apis/maps/documentation/geocoding/#Types But, there is no real order, and if I wan't the result better than postal_code, I have no clue to how to do that. So, how can I get this equivalent of the V2 accuracy, whithout some dumb and horrible code ?

  • How to correctly load dependent JavaScript files

    - by Vaibhav Garg
    I am trying to extent a website page that displays google maps with the LabeledMarker. Google Maps API defines a class called GMarker which is extended by the LabeledMarker. The problem is, I cant seem to load the LabeledMarker script properly, i.e. after the Google API loads and I get the 'GMarker not defined' error. What is the correct way to specify the scripts in such cases? I am using ASP.NET's ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptInclude() first for the google API url and then immediately after with the LabeledMarker script file. The initial google API loader writes further script links that load the actual GMarker class. Shouldnt all those scripts be executed before the next script block(LabeledMarker script) is processed. I have checked the generated HTML and the script blocks are emitted in the right order. <script src="google api url" type="text/javascript"></script> ... (the above scripts uses document.write() etc to append further script blocks/sources) ... <script src="Scripts/LabeledMarker.js" type="text/javascript"></script> Once again, the LabeledMarker.js seems to get executed before the google API finishes loading.

  • Reverse geocode street name and city as text

    - by Taylor Satula
    Hello, I have been having some trouble finding a good way to output just the street name and city as text (Infinite Loop, Cupertino shown here) that can be displayed in my iPhone app. This needs to be able to dynamically change as you change streets and city. I don't have the slightest idea of how to do this, I hope someone can help. I have attached a very rough image of what I am trying to acheave. I have found this (http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/services.html#Geocoding) for google maps about how to reverse geocode using javascript, but what I do not understand is how this would be done in a iPhone development setting. I work in web design and I see how it would be done in HTML but I am very new to iPhone development and don't have the slightest clue of how it would be done here. If someone could spell out how to do this I would be extremely grateful. I cannot seem to find what I am looking for by searching Google. • Convert long/lat to pixel x/y on a given picure.

    - by Kalinin
    I have a city "map" (for example - Moscow). She in accuracy repeats the contours the given city in google maps (that is it is copied from google maps and it is a little processed, but the sense remained the same). Also I have object co-ordinates in a city (in co-ordinates of google). Problem: how to convert google co-ordinates to the co-ordinates of my picture (that is in pixels on OX and OY on a picture). That is I receive google-co-ordinates and it is necessary for me to draw this point on my picture. The most desired variant of the answer - is based on javascript, but it is possible and on php. I know that on small scales (for example on city scales) it to make simply enough (it is necessary to learn what google-co-ordinates has one of picture corners, then to learn "price" of one pixel in google-co-ordinates on a picture on axes OX and OY separately). But on the big scales (country scale) "price" of one pixel will be not a constant, and will vary strongly enough and the method described above cannot be applied. How to solve a problem on country scales?

  • ruby regex, parsing html

    - by danwoods
    Hello all, I'm trying to parse some returned html to look for currently playing movies. The pattern I'm trying to match looks like: <span dir=ltr>Clash of the Titans</span> Of which there are several in the returned html. (the html is huge, I've posted a sample at the bottom) I'm trying get an array of the movie titles with the following command: titles = listings_html.split(/(<span dir=ltr>).*(<\/span>)/) But I'm not getting the results I'm expecting. • What are Android different screens dimensions in dp for different screens (e.g. xlarge = 960dp x 720dp)?

    - by Zizo
    in this link: Range of screens supported, Android team mentioned that: As you design your UI for different screen sizes, you'll discover that each design requires a minimum amount of space. So, each generalized screen size above has an associated minimum resolution that's defined by the system. These minimum sizes are in "dp" units—the same units you should use when defining your layouts—which allows the system to avoid worrying about changes in screen density. xlarge screens are at least 960dp x 720dp large screens are at least 640dp x 480dp normal screens are at least 470dp x 320dp small screens are at least 426dp x 320dp So, If I want to support all Android screens, can I create images, for full screen view, in those dimensions and that will be sufficient condition to support all available screens? or they are just the minimum sizes, and I need other dimensions? If other dimensions are needed, Please list them as in the list above. Thanks in Advance.

  • Open Maps app from Code : Where to find the "Current Location"?

    - by Simon
    I am opening Maps app to show directions from user's Current Location to a destination coordinate, from my code. I am using the following code to open the Maps app. I am calling this code when a button is pressed. - (void)showDirectionsToHere { CLLocationCoordinate2D currentLocation = [self getCurrentLocation]; // LINE 1 NSString* url = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=%f,%f&daddr=%f,%f", destCoordinate.latitude + 0.1, destCoordinate.longitude, destCoordinate.latitude, destCoordinate.longitude];//8.3, 12.1 [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url]]; } Here [self getCurrentLocation] in LINE 1 uses CLLocationManager to determine the Current Location and returns the value. Note: I have not yet implemented the LINE1. I've just planned to do in that way. My question is, Is this a good practice to calculate the Current Location, at the time the Maps app is called? [self getCurrentLocation] will retrun the Current Location before openURL gets called? I have to determine the Current Location well before opening the Maps app? I am little bit confused about these things. Kindly guide me. Thanks.

  • Basic collision direction detection on 2d objects

    - by Osso Buko
    I am trying to develop a platform game for Android by using ANdroid GL Engine (ANGLE). And I am having trouble with collision detection. I have two objects which is shaped as rectangular. And no change in rotation. Here is a scheme of attributes of objects. What i am trying to do is when objects collide they block each other's movement on that direction. Every object has 4 boolean (bTop, bBottom, bRight, bLeft). For example when bBottom is true object can't advance on that direction. I came up with a solution but it seems it only works on one dimensional. Bottom and top or right and left. public void collisionPlatform (MyObject a, MyObject b) { // first obj is player and second is a wall or a platform Vector p1 = a.mPosition; // p1 = middle point of first object Vector d1 = a.mPosition2; // width(mX) and height of first object Vector mSpeed1 = a.mSpeed; // speed vector of first object Vector p2 = b.mPosition; // p1 = middle point of second object Vector d2 = b.mPosition2; // width(mX) and height of second object Vector mSpeed2 = b.mSpeed; // speed vector of second object float xDist, yDist; // distant between middle of two object float width , height; // this is average of two objects measurements width=(width1+width2)/2 xDist=(p1.mX - p2.mX); // calculate distance // if positive first object is at the right yDist=(p1.mY - p2.mY); // if positive first object is below width = d1.mX + d2.mX; // average measurements calculate height = d1.mY + d2.mY; width/=2; height/=2; if (Math.abs(xDist) < width && Math.abs(yDist) < height) { // Two object is collided if(p1.mY>p2.mY) { // first object is below second one a.bTop = true; if(a.mSpeed.mY<0) a.mSpeed.mY=0; b.bBottom = true; if(b.mSpeed.mY>0) b.mSpeed.mY=0; } else { a.bBottom = true; if(a.mSpeed.mY>0) a.mSpeed.mY=0; b.bTop = true; if(b.mSpeed.mY<0) b.mSpeed.mY=0; } } As seen in my code it simply will not work. when object comes from right or left it doesn't work. I tried couple of ways other than this one but none worked. I am guessing right method will include mSpeed vector. But I have no idea how to do it. I really appreciate if you could help. Sorry for my bad english.
