  • jQuery $.ajax response empty, but only in Chrome

    - by roguepixel
    I've exhausted every avenue of research to solve this one so hopefully someone else will think of something I just didn't. Relatively straight forward setup, I have a html page with some javascript that makes an ajax request to a URL (in the same domain) the java web app in the background does its stuff and returns a partial html page (no html, head or body tags, just the content) which should be inserted at a particular point in the page. All sounds pretty easy and the code I have works in IE, Firefox and Safari, but not in Chrome. In Chrome the target element just ends up empty and if I look at the resource request in Chromes developer tools the response content is also empty. All very confusing, I've tried a myriad of things to solve it and I'm just out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. var container = $('#container'); $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: '/path/to/local/url', data: data('parameters=value&another=value2'), dataType: 'html', cache: false, beforeSend: requestBefore, complete: requestComplete, success: requestSuccess, error: requestError }); function data(parameters) { var dictionary = {}; var pairs = parameters.split('&'); for (var i = 0; i < pairs.length; i++) { var keyValuePair = pairs[i].split('='); dictionary[keyValuePair[0]] = keyValuePair[1]; } return dictionary; } function requestBefore() { container.find('.message.error').hide(); container.prepend('<div class="modal"><div class="indicator">Loading...</div></div>'); } function requestComplete() { container.find('.modal').remove(); } function requestSuccess(response) { container.empty(); container.html(response); } function requestError(response) { if (response.status == 200 && response.responseText == 'OK') { requestSuccess(response); } else { container.find('.message.error').fadeIn('slow'); } } All of this is executed in a $(document).ready(function() {}); Cheers, Jim @Oleg - Additional information requested, an example of the response that the ajax call might receive. <p class="message error hidden">An unknown error occured while trying to retrieve data, please try again shortly.</p> <div class="timeline"> <a class="icon shuttle-previous" rel="max_id=16470650733&page=1&q=something">Newer Data</a> <a class="icon shuttle-next" rel="max_id=16470650733&page=3&q=something">Older Data</a> </div> <ol class="social"> <li class="even"> <div class="avatar"> <img src="sphere_normal.gif"/> </div> <p> Some Content<br/> <span class="published">Jun 18, 2010 11:29:05 AM</span> - <a target="_blank" href="">Direct Link</a> </p> </li> <li class="odd"> <div class="avatar"> <img src="sphere_normal.gif"/> </div> <p> Some Content<br/> <span class="published">Jun 18, 2010 11:29:05 AM</span> - <a target="_blank" href="">Direct Link</a> </p> </li> </ol> <div class="timeline"> <a class="icon shuttle-previous" rel="max_id=16470650733&page=1&q=something">Newer Data</a> <a class="icon shuttle-next" rel="max_id=16470650733&page=3&q=something">Older Data</a> </div>

  • jquery - targetting a select using $this

    - by Maureen
    I am trying to get individual selects (which have the same class as other selects) to respond to a .change function, however it only works on one of the selects. If you test out this code it will make more sense. Try to add a few "ON/OFF events", and then select "Specified Time" in the various selects. You'll see only the first one responds. Any ideas? Thanks! Please see the following code: $(document).ready(function() { var neweventstring = '<div class="event">Turns <select name="ONOFF"><option value="On">ON</option><option value="Off">OFF</option></select> at: <select name="setto" class="setto"><option>Select Time</option><option value="Sunrise">Sunrise</option><option value="Sunset">Sunset</option><option value="specifiedtime">Specified Time</option></select></div>'; $('#addmondaysevent').click(function () { $('#monday .events').append(neweventstring); }); $('.setto').change(function() { alert('The function is called'); if($("option:selected", this).val() =="specifiedtime"){ alert('If returns true'); $(this).css("background-color", "#cc0000"); $(this).after('<div class="specifictime"><input type="text" value="00" style="width:30px"/> : <input type="text" value="00" style="width:30px"> <select name="ampm"><option value="AM" selected>AM</option><option value="PM">PM</option></select></div>') } }); }); And my HTML: <div id="monday"> <h2>Mondays</h2> <div class="events"> <div class="event"> Turn <select name="ONOFF"> <option value="On">ON</option> <option value="Off">OFF</option> </select> at: <select name="setto" class="setto"> <option>Select Time</option> <option value="Sunrise">Sunrise</option> <option value="Sunset">Sunset</option> <option value="specifiedtime">Specified Time</option> </select> </div> [<a id="addmondaysevent">Add an ON/OFF event</a>] </div> </div>

  • jQuery , Trigger change event on newly created elements

    - by kwhohasamullet
    Hi Guys, I have a button in a form that when clicked adds another set of form fields, In these form fields there are 2 drop downs where the contents of the 2nd dropdown rely on what is selected in the first dropdown... What i want to do is when the new form field button is clicked for the new items to be added and then the change event to be triggered on the drop down that was created so what only that drop down changes and not all the drop downs with the same name currently in that form. THe first drop down is called product Category The code for the addFormField function is: function addFormField() { var id = document.getElementById("field_id").value; $("#products").append("<table width='600' cellpadding='5' cellspacing='0' class='Add_Products' id='row" + id + "'><td width='250' class='left'><label>Select Product Category</label></td><td class='right' ><label><select name='" + id + "' id='ProductCategory'><?php foreach($categories as $key=>$category){ echo "<option value=".$key.">".$category."</option>"; } ?></select></label></td></tr><tr><td width='250' class='left'><label>Select Product Template</label></td><td class='right' ><label><select name='data[QuoteItem][" + id + "][product_id]' id='QuoteItem" + id + "product_id' class='Product' title='" + id + "'></select></label></td></tr><tr ><td class='left'>Name</td><td class='right'><label><input name='data[QuoteItem][" + id + "][name]' type='text' id='QuoteItem" + id + "name' size='50' /></label></td></tr><tr ><td class='left'>Price (ex GST)</td><td class='right'><input type='text' name='data[QuoteItem][" + id + "][price]' id='QuoteItem" + id + "price' onchange='totalProductPrice();' class='quote-item-price' value='0' /></td></tr><tr><td class='left'>Description</td><td class='right'><label><textarea name='data[QuoteItem][" + id + "][description]' cols='38' rows='5' id='QuoteItem" + id + "description'></textarea></label></td></tr><tr><td><a href='#' onClick='removeFormField(\"#row" + id + "\"); return false;'>Remove</a></td></tr></table>"); $('#row' + id).highlightFade({ speed:1000 }); id = (id - 1) + 2; document.getElementById("field_id").value = id; } The code that detects change in ProductCategory dropdown and triggers the AJAX is below: $("select#ProductCategory").live('change', function(){ var url = base + "/quotes/productList/" + $(this).val() + ""; var id = $(this).attr('name'); $.getJSON(url,{id: $(this).val(), ajax: 'true'}, function(j){ var options = ''; options += '<option value="0">None</option>'; $.each(j, function(key, value){ options += '<option value="' + key + '">' + value + '</option>'; }) $("select#QuoteItem" + id + "product_id").html(options); }) }).trigger('change'); I have been trying all afternoon to work this out and the closest one i got to work applied the returned ajax values to all items. Currently using the live function people can add new fields and are able to use the drops down independant of each other dropdown but its only when the field is first added that i have trouble getting is populated Thanks in advance for any help

  • After .load() Reset Textbox with User Entered Value using JavaScript and jQuery

    - by Aaron Salazar
    My function below calls a partial view after a user enters a filter-by string into the text box '#DocId'. When the user is done typing, the partial view is displayed with filtered data. Since my textbox needs to be in the partial view, when user is done entering a filter-by string and is shown the filtered data, the textbox is reset and the user entered data is lost. How can I set the value of the textbox back to the user entered string after the partial view is displayed? I'm pretty sure I need to use .val() but I can't seem to get this to work. $(function() { $('#DocId').live('keyup', function() { clearTimeout($.data(this, 'timer')); var val = $(this).val(); var wait = setTimeout(function() { $('#tableContent').load('/CurReport/TableResults', { filter: val }, 500) }, 500); $(this).data('timer', wait); }); }); Thank you, Aaron

  • Ajax JQuery responses order problem....

    - by Parhs
    Hello !!! I am searching 3 hours and didnt find anything.... i have this code which is called at an onChange event of an function group_changed(obj) { $.ajaxSetup({async:false}); $.post("/medilab/personnel/groups/getGroupRightsAjax",{ 'group.id': obj.options[obj.selectedIndex].value }, function(data){ $("#div_rights").html(data); }); } This works fine but if i set async:true sometimes the result doesnt match the selection... I guess that this is happening because some requests are lost or that the responses dont come in order..... Any idea what to do to keep it asynchronous?

  • How to properly use the .each() command in jQuery

    - by sadmicrowave
    I have a script that checks the class (integer) of a , runs a switch statement to change that integer value to text and appends the text to another in the same listitem tag. I use the .each() function because each listitem starts with class=_[user ID] -- each user can have up to 5 entries.. Enough explaining -- heres the code: <HTML> <li class='_44074'><div class='_12' style='width:380px;'><div style='width:60px; float:left;'>1st</div><div class='verify-type' style='float:left; width:160px;'></div><div style='float:left; width:120px;'>04/26/10 07:29 AM</div></div></li> <li class='_44074'><div class='_6' style='width:380px;'><div style='width:60px; float:left;'>2nd</div><div class='verify-type' style='float:left; width:160px;'></div><div style='float:left; width:120px;'>04/23/10 03:29 PM</div></div></li> <li class='_44074'><div class='_12' style='width:380px;'><div style='width:60px; float:left;'>3rd</div><div class='verify-type' style='float:left; width:160px;'></div><div style='float:left; width:120px;'>04/23/10 03:18 PM</div></div></li> <li class='_44074'><div class='_2' style='width:380px;'><div style='width:60px; float:left;'>4th</div><div class='verify-type' style='float:left; width:160px;'></div><div style='float:left; width:120px;'>04/23/10 02:28 PM</div></div></li> </HTML> when I use the .each() function to scan through each of the listitems begining with the entered user id it only finds the first value (in this case _12) and applies that to all the entries; instead of finding _12, _6, _12, _2 it finds _12, _12, _12, _12...here is the java: $("div#history-menu div#history-text li." + valueid).each(function(){ valueid = $("div#center-box input").val(); checkedvalue=""; checkedvalue = $("div#history-menu div#history-text li." + valueid + " div").attr('class'); switch(checkedvalue){ case '_2':lcCheckedMessage = "Shoes"; break; case '_4':lcCheckedMessage = "Shoe Straps"; break; case '_6':lcCheckedMessage = "Shoes & Shoe Straps"; break; case '_8':lcCheckedMessage = "Wrist Straps"; break; case '_10':lcCheckedMessage = "Shoes & Wrist Strap"; break; case '_12':lcCheckedMessage = "Shoe Straps & Wrist Strap"; break; }; $("div#history-menu div#history-text li." + valueid + " ." + checkedvalue + " .verify-type").text(lcCheckedMessage); });

  • Execute jQuery code when images have loaded from external resource

    - by Nick Swan
    Hi all, I'm getting users profile pictures from Facebook so their loading time varies quite a lot. When they have loaded I want to resize them. I have the resizing code working OK, but cannot get the actual code to execute reliably at the right time. According to the info I've found this should work: $('.userPic').load(function () { ... code to resize pictures }); But it doesn't seem 100% reliable. Any other hints or tips? Thanks Nick Swan

  • Testing whether an event has happened after a period of time in jQuery

    - by chrism
    I'm writing a script for a form-faces xforms product that is keyed off an event built into form faces. The event is called 'xforms-ready'. I have define 'startTime' as happening as soon as the document in 'ready'. What I want the script to do is warn the user that it is taking too long before the 'xforms-ready' happens, say if it's been 6 seconds since 'startTime'. I can easily do things when the 'xforms-ready' event happens using the code below: new EventListener(document.documentElement, "xforms-ready", "default", function() { var endTime = (new Date()).getTime(); } ); however the warning will want to happen before 'endTime' is defined. So I guess I want something that works like this: If 6 seconds has passed since startTime and endTime is not yet defined do X or possibly more efficiently: If 6 seconds has passed since startTime and 'xforms-ready' has not yet happened do X Can anyone suggest a way of doing this?

  • jQuery action being called when selector isn't met?

    - by dougoftheabaci
    I've been working on a prototype for a client's web site and I've run into a rather significant snag. You can view the prototype here. As you can see, the way it works is you can scroll a set of slides horizontally and, by clicking one, open a stack containing yet more slides. If you then click again on an image in that stack it opens up a lightbox. Clicking on another stack or the close button will close that stack (and open another, as case may be). That all works great. However you get some weird behavior if you do the following: Click to open any stack. Click to open an image's light box (this works best if you click on the image that's level with the main list). Close the light box and the stack either by clicking the close button or clicking on another stack. Click back to the first stack. Instead of reopening the stack, you get the lightbox. This confuses me as the light box should only ever be called if there is a class on the containing UL and that class is removed when the lightbox is closed. I've checked and double-checked this, it's definitely missing. Here are the respective functions: $("ul.hide a.lightbox").live("click",function(){ $("ul.show").removeClass("show").addClass("hide"); $(this).parent().parent().removeClass("hide").addClass("show"); $("ul.hide").animate({opacity: 0.2}); $("ul.show").animate({opacity: 1}); $("#next").animate({opacity: 0.2}); $("#prev").animate({opacity: 0.2}); return false; }); $("ul.show a.lightbox").live("click",function(){ $(this).fancybox().trigger("click"); return false; }); As you can see, in order for the lightbox to be called the containing UL has to have the class of show. However, if you check it with Firebug it won't. For those who are curious, the added .trigger("click"); is because the lightbox will require a double-click to launch otherwise. Any idea how I can fix this?
