• Where to store a DataSource resource in a Java web app?

  This is a rookie question. What's the best place to put @Resource private DataSource ds; in a web application? Do I put it in a servlet, context listener or maybe there's a better place for it? • Xml files stop being served by IIS6 after allowing .net to process the .xml extension

  I added a route into my site to allow for a sitemap and everything worked fine in IIS7 but once I deployed the route stopped working. Since the live server is running IIS6 I needed to put a new mapping in for .xml to be processed by .net and then it started to work. My issue though is on every other xml file on the site now. I keep getting a 404 error when trying to view xml files, but the sitemap.xml route works. Is this a routing issue or an IIS setup issue?   I'm using the jquery ui dialog for a modal popup dialog. It's working great in Firefox/Chrome but terrible in ie6. Problem: When I show the dialog in ie6, the browser window grows and automatically scrolls down to the bottom. The height increase and automatic scroll-down is equal to the height of the jquery dialog. I can scroll up and then use the dialog as normal, but the behavior where it grows the window and drops is maddeningly unacceptable.   Let say that I want to populate a list of CustomerViewModel which are built based on Customer Entity Framework model with some fields (like Balance) calculated separately. Below I have code which works for lists - it is implemented in my service layer, but also I want to execute this code when I just get one item from the database and execute is as well in different services where I'm accessing Customers data as well. • Custom error page configured in IIS for code 400 (bad request) is ignored

  For my website I configured some custom error pages. If I generate a 404, the redirect works fine. When hitting a 400, the "bad request" text shows up instead of the configured URl. As a test I copied the URL from 404 to 400. No change. Then I changed the redirect to a file. No change. Any ideas?

  I am working on a ASP.NET MVC2 project. The problem is when a string which would be rewritten into URL that contains special character such as backslash or question mark. That will make URL wrong, even I have encoded it before. For example: 1. I have a product id "p001/2-2". 2. I encoded it into "p001%252f2-2" 3. The URL http://domain.com/ProductView/p001%252f2-2 will response HTTP Error 400 - Bad Request. How can I get it correct?

• MS Chart Control for ASP.NET 100% Stacked Bar Chart Question.

  Hello All, I am trying to display a chart with several different bars that represent a ratio of some values. For example, one bar may say that there are 25 items in three different groups (maybe dirty, clean, and broken) and of those 25 items x items from each category add up to the total. Later the data will dynamically change and be displayed accordingly. But for now all I want to do is be able to display three different values on the same bar. Unfortunately, whatever properties I need to bind the data to are buried somewhere in the menus and I cannot seem to find them. Do any of you guys have experience with this sort of chart?

• NerdDinner difficulties

  Hello guys, I'm having a problem with the Create method of the NerdDinner tutorial, which is very good BTW. As you can see here http://nerddinnerbook.s3.amazonaws.com/Part5.htm in the Create method, he removed the ID field of the aspx page. I did that too, but I cannot add any dinners because I get a primary key violation. How is NerdDinner controlling the ids of each dinner? I revised the tutorial and could not see any references to identity fields on SQL database. I even created a method to get me the highest id in the table: public int GetHighestDinnerId() { int resultado = (from dinner in dataContext.Dinners select dinner.DinnerId).Max(); return resultado; } which does not work either. Any thoughts? Thank you

• IIS 7.0 - Every site suddenly redirecting root request to forms authentication

  Suddenly, IIS 7.0 is redirecting every request for the root of any domain hosted on the box to ~/Account/Logon, which is our Forms Authentication redirect. Additionally, some JavaScript and image requests are being similarly redirected, but not other aspx pages. This is not desirable. Nobody will admit to changing anything. Any ideas? EDIT: It turns out that something has gone wrong with the disk permissions. Can anyone point me to the way things are supposed to be in Windows Server 2008 for a standard ASP.Net installation? The disk permissions are out of whack now.

It seems that there is some new restrictions on returned Jsonresult in MVC2. How to solve this in VB.NET.   I'm getting into writing unit testing and have implemented a nice repository pattern/moq to allow me to test my functions without using "real" data. So far so good.. However.. In my repository interface for "Posts" IPostRepository I have a function: Post getPostByID(int id); I want to be able to test this from my Test class but cannot work out how. So far I am using this pattern for my tests: [SetUp] public void Setup() { mock = new Mock<IPostRepository>(); } [Test] public void someTest() { populate(10); //This populates the mock with 10 fake entries //do test here } In my function "someTest" I want to be able to call/test the function GetPostById. I can find the function with mock.object.getpostbyid but the "object" is null. • In CodeIgniter, how to clear "form data" after redirecting page

  I'm not sure I explained it correctly in the question title, so here's the details: Login controller: function authenticate() { if ( authorized ) { redirect('lobby'); } else { redirect('login'); } } Lobby controller: function index() { //load lobby view } What happens is that in the login page, I enter user / pass, click Login, then authenticate() is called, and redirects me to the Lobby. However, when I click refresh while on the Lobby, the login form gets submitted again, so I get "logged in" again. How do I prevent that from happening?

• Persisting cookie for iPhone UIwebview mobile web app

  I'm using MVC4 forms auth. My mobile web app runs in full screen UIwebview on iphone. I have a home screen icon for my mobile web app. The app needs to launch external links. Those launch in Safari, which works fine. However returning to the mobile web app by clicking again on the home screen icon, seems to have logged the user out. Ideally I want the user to remain logged into the web app after viewing the external links in Safari. Maybe the cookie got deleted? Can I persist the cookie?
