• PHP MySQL INSERT fails due to unique constraint

    - by sjw
    On insert I am catching the unique constraint mysql_errno() 1062. This works fine but I want to find the existing row to re-instate or modify it. Is there are method to obtain the row id on insert fail? I tried mysql_insert_id() but realised that would only return the row I'm inserting (or failed to insert) therefore, I get 0. Is there no option but to issue another mysql_query and simply perform a select on the duplicate value? I just want to make sure there is no better, quicker, more economical way to do this.

  • keep HTMLformat after replace some text (using PHP and JS)

    - by Sadi
    I would like modify HTML like I am Sadi, novice programmer. to I am Sadi, learner programmer. To do it I will search using a string "novice programmer". How can I do it please? Any idea? Thank you Sadi More clarification: I get some nice reply with possible solution. But please keep posting if you have any idea in mind. I would like to more clarify the problem just in case anyone missed it. Main post shows the problem as an example scenario. 1) Now the problem is find and replace some string without considering the tags. The tags may shows up within a single word. String may contain multiple word. Tag only appear in the content string or the document. The search phrase never contain any tags. We can easily remove all tags and do some text operation. But here the another problem shows up. 2) The tags must be preserve, even after replacing the text. That is what the example shows. Thank you Again for helping

  • PHP cURL error: "Empty reply from server"

    - by ABach
    All, I have a class function to interface with the RESTful API for Last.FM - its purpose is to grab the most recent tracks for my user. Here it is: private static $base_url = 'http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/2.0/'; public static function getTopTracks($options = array()) { $options = array_merge(array( 'user' => 'bachya', 'period' => NULL, 'api_key' => 'xxxxx...', // obfuscated, obviously ), $options); $options['method'] = 'user.getTopTracks'; // Initialize cURL request and set parameters $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt_array($ch, array( CURLOPT_URL => self::$base_url, CURLOPT_POST => TRUE, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS => $options, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER => TRUE, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT => 30, CURLOPT_USERAGENT => 'Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT 5.0)' )); $results = curl_exec($ch); return $results; } This returns "Empty reply from server". I know that some have suggested that this error comes from some fault in network infrastructure; I do not believe this to be true in my case. If I run a cURL request through the command line, I get my data; the Last.FM service is up and accessible. Before I go to those folks and see if anything has changed, I wanted to check with you fine folks and see if there's some issue in my code that would be causing this. Thanks!

  • Validating Login / Changing User settings / Php Mysql

    - by Marcelo
    Hi everyone, my questions are about login, and changing already saved data. (Q1) 'Till now I've only saved input in the tables of the database (registration steps), now I need to check if the input (login steps), are the same of my table in database, in fact I have 3 types of users, then I'll have to check 3 kind of tables. Then if the input data matches with one of those 3 tables I will redirect the user to his specific area. I'm thinking about saved the submitted data $login=$_REQUEST['login']; and $password=$_REQUEST['password']; and compare with the login column in the database. Then if the login matches, I'll compare the password submitted with the one in the row, not in the column. But I don't know how to do this search and comparison,neither what to use. Then if both matches I'll redirect the user. Else I'll send an login error message. (this I know how to do) (Q2) What if need to change an already saved user ? For example to change an email address. My changing user's data web page is exactly the same like the registration user web page. Can I load the already saved options and values of registration (table user for example). Then the user will change whatever he thinks it's necessary, and then when he submits the new information, they would not create a new row in my table, but just be overwritten the old information? How can I do this? Sorry for any mistake in English, and Thanks for the attention.

    I have a server turning on Plesk 10.4.4 and I want to upgrade it to 11.0.9. When I use the online upgrade tool, I have this warning: Parallels Panel pre-upgrade check... - by Drew
    I know I have that my connection to the database works, and a test I did using no auto-increment id worked fine for me. The code below refuses to work and I can't find a a way around it. My table has 3 columns, ID (auto increment), name and value. What do I need to change in order to get this to work? Thanks in advance //create placeholder query $query = "INSERT INTO prepared_test (name, value) VALUES (?,?)"; //prepare the query $stmt = mysqli_prepare($connection, $query); $name = 'steve'; $value = 45; mysqli_bind_param($stmt, array(MYSQLI_BIND_STRING, MYSQLI_BIND_INT), $name, $value); mysqli_execute($stmt); if(mysqli_stmt_affected_rows($stmt) != 1) die("issues"); mysqli_stmt_close($stmt); $connection-close();

  • PHP Preg_replace after a specific amount of characters with a conditional

    - by Marc Ripley
    I've been working on this for a bit, but my regex is weak. I need to check to see if a number is a whole number (single digit) and append a ".001" to it if so. The problem is, it's in the middle of a line with values separated by commas. MATERIALS,1,1,9999;1 4PL1 PB_Mel,,1,6,0.173,0.173,0.375,0,0.375,0,0,0,0,2,0,1,1 Needs to be MATERIALS,1,1,9999;1 4PL1 PB_Mel,,1.001,6,0.173,0.173,0.375,0,0.375,0,0,0,0,2,0,1,1 The line must start with "MATERIALS". There are more than one MATERIALS lines. The value will always be after 5 commas. I was trying something like this to even replace the number, but I don't think the approach is quite right: $stripped = preg_replace('/(MATERIALS)(,.*?){4}(,\d+?),/', '\2,', $stripped); I tried going through a preg_match_all for if process, to at least get the conditional working, but I still have to replace the lines. for($i=0;$i<sizeof($materialsLines[0]);$i++) { $section = explode(",",$materialsLines[0][$i]); if (strlen($section[5]) == 1) { $section[5] .= ".001"; } $materialsLines[0][$i] = implode(",",$section); }

  • speed string search in PHP

    - by Marc
    Hi! I have a 1.2GB file that contains a one line string. What I need is to search the entire file to find the position of an another string (currently I have a list of strings to search). The way what I'm doing it now is opening the big file and move a pointer throught 4Kb blocks, then moving the pointer X positions back in the file and get 4Kb more. My problem is that a bigger string to search, a bigger time he take to got it. Can you give me some ideas to optimize the script to get better search times? this is my implementation: function busca($inici){ $limit = 4096; $big_one = fopen('big_one.txt','r'); $options = fopen('options.txt','r'); while(!feof($options)){ $search = trim(fgets($options)); $retro = strlen($search);//maybe setting this position absolute? (like 12 or 15) $punter = 0; while(!feof($big_one)){ $ara = fgets($big_one,$limit); $pos = strpos($ara,$search); $ok_pos = $pos + $punter; if($pos !== false){ echo "$pos - $punter - $search : $ok_pos
"; break; } $punter += $limit - $retro; fseek($big_one,$punter); } fseek($big_one,0); } } Thanks in advance!

  • Pulling specific entries from RSS feed [PHP]

    - by n0s
    So, I have an RSS feed with variations of each item. What I want to do is just get entries that contain a specific section of text. For example:

RADIO SHOW - CF64K - 05-20-10 + WRAPUP

RADIO SHOW - CF128K - 05-20-10 + WRAPUP

I only want to display the results that contain the string CF64K. While it's probably really simple regex, I can't seem to wrap my head around getting it right. I always get seem to only be able to display the string 'CF64K', and not the stuff that surrounds it. Thanks in advance.

  • PHP & cUrl - POST problems in while loop.

    - by Max Hoff
    I have a while loop, with cUrl inside. (I can't use curl_multi for various reasons.) The problem is that cUrl seems to save the data it POSTS after each loop traversal. For instance, if parameter X is One the first loop through, and if it's Two the second loop through, cUrl posts: "One,Two". It should just POST "Two".(This is despite closing and unsetting the curl handle.) Here's a simplified version of the code (with unecessary info stripped out): while(true){ // code to form the $url. this code is local to the loop. so the variables should be "erased" and made new for each loop through. $ch = curl_init(); $userAgent = 'Googlebot/2.1 (http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)'; curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_USERAGENT, $userAgent); curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_URL,$url); curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_POST,count($fields)); curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS,$fields_string); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FAILONERROR, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_AUTOREFERER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER,true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 10); $html = curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); unset($ch); $dom = new DOMDocument(); @$dom->loadHTML($html); $xpath = new DOMXPath($dom); $resultTable = $xpath->evaluate("/html/body//table"); // $resultTable is 20 the first time through the loop, and 0 everytime thereafter becauset he POSTing doesn't work right with the "saved" parameters. What am I doing wrong here?

  • Adding to a multidimensional array in PHP

    - by b. e. hollenbeck
    I have an array being returned from the database that looks like so: $data = array(201 => array('description' => blah, 'hours' => 0), 222 => array('description' => feh, 'hours' => 0); In the next bit of code, I'm using a foreach and checking the for the key in another table. If the next query returns data, I want to update the 'hours' value in that key's array with a new hours value: foreach ($data as $row => $value){ $query = $db->query($sql); if ($result){ $value['hours'] = $result['hours']; } I've tried just about every combination of declarations for the foreach loop, but I keep getting the error that it's a non-object. Surely this is easier than my brain is perceiving it.
