  • A script that writes errors and should create a event-error

    - by helmich
this if it works should check the internet connection if there is a connection it does nothing. if there isn't a connection it should write a error in a txtfile if that happend 5 times it should create a error but it doesn't I will show you the whole code that i have now and the piece of code that i want in a loop. I can't get it in the way i want. I want it to creat 1 Event-error after 5 times writing to the file. this is the whole code i will put the code i want in a loop under it strDirectory = "Z:\text2" strFile = "\foutmelding.txt" strText = "De connectie is verbroken" strWebsite = "www.helmichbeens.com" If PingSite(strWebsite) Then WScript.Quit 'Website is pingable - no further action required Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") RecordSingleEvent Dim fout For fout = 1 To 5 : Do If fout = 5 Then Exit Do Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Call WshShell.LogEvent(1, "Test Event") Loop While False : next '------------------------------------ 'Record a single event in a text file '------------------------------------ Sub RecordSingleEvent If Not objFSO.FolderExists(strDirectory) Then objFSO.CreateFolder(strDirectory) Set objTextFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile(strDirectory & strFile, 8, True) objTextFile.WriteLine(Now & strText) objTextFile.Close End sub '---------------- 'Ping my web site '---------------- Function PingSite( myWebsite ) Set objHTTP = CreateObject( "WinHttp.WinHttpRequest.5.1" ) objHTTP.Open "GET", "http://" & myWebsite & "/", False objHTTP.SetRequestHeader "User-Agent", "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MyApp 1.0; Windows NT 5.1)" On Error Resume Next objHTTP.Send PingSite = (objHTTP.Status = 200) On Error Goto 0 End Function '----------------------------------------------- 'Counts the number of lines inside the text file '----------------------------------------------- Function EventCount(fout) strData = objFSO.OpenTextFile(strDirectory & strFile,ForReading).ReadAll arrLines = Split(strData,vbCrLf) EventCount = UBound(arrLines) End Function This is the whole code, and it doesnt work correctly becaus it creats a event-log rightaway and it should do that after the script has written 5 times to the textfile here is the code that writes to a textfile Sub RecordSingleEvent If Not objFSO.FolderExists(strDirectory) Then objFSO.CreateFolder(strDirectory) Set objTextFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile(strDirectory & strFile, 8, True) objTextFile.WriteLine(Now & strText) objTextFile.Close End sub and here is the code but this part doesnt not work or atleast i think it is this part Dim fout For fout = 1 To 5 : Do If fout = 5 Then Exit Do Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Call WshShell.LogEvent(1, "Test Event") Loop While False : next Function EventCount(fout) strData = objFSO.OpenTextFile(strDirectory & strFile,ForReading).ReadAll arrLines = Split(strData,vbCrLf) EventCount = UBound(arrLines) End Function this is the not working part and I don't know what to do anymore so can you please take a look at it tank you very much. btw: this code can be very usefull for a network administrator

  • Can splitting .MDB files into segments help with stability?

    - by Craig Johnston
Is this a realistic solution to the problems associated with larger .mdb files: split the large .mdb file into smaller .mdb files have one 'central' .mdb containing links to the tables in the smaller .mdb files How easy would it be to make this change to an .mdb backed VB application? Could the changes to the database be done so that there are no changes required to the front-end application?

  • ruby - find and replace in a string for commonly used street suffix

    - by go minimal
The post office actually publishes a list of commonly used street suffixes in addresses: http://www.usps.com/ncsc/lookups/abbr_suffix.txt I want to take this list and make a ruby function that takes a string, takes the last word ("183 main strt".split[' '].last) and if it matches any of the commonly used street suffixes ("strt"), replace it with the official Postal Service Standard Suffix ("st"). Is there a better way to approach this than a massive str.sub.sub.sub.sub.sub?

  • Managing conflicting ivy repositories (in eclipse)

    - by Stephen
I've got eclipse workspaces for my full time job and my home test work that are both set up with ivy (and using ivyDE). However, I'm finding that I'm getting strange behaviour and conflicts between the different workspaces - issues like not being able to find certain dependencies, or not compiling etc. Is there a way in ivy or ivyDE to set the home .ivy2 directory so that I can split my workspaces? At the moment, I'm alternating different directories for my .ivy2 cache.

  • Detect if a key is bound to something in vim

    - by WishCow
I'd like to know if there is a way to figure out if a key does something in vim. I know that I can use :map to see user-defined mappings, but is there something for the built-in stuff? For example, I always had CTRL-W bound to close tab, because I thought that it was unused. After half a year, I found out that there are some sequences that use it, like CTRL-W CTRL-S to split the window, and it was a nightmare to retrain myself.

  • how to tackle a new project

    - by stevo
Hi, I have a question about best practice on how to tackle a new project, any project. When starting a new project how do you go about tackling the project, do you split it into sections, start writing code, draw up flow diagrams. I'm asking this question because I'm looking for advice on how I can start new projects so I can get going on them quicker. I can have it planned, designed and starting coding with everything worked out. Any advice? Thanks Stephen

  • Reading ini file in C#

    - by pm_2
I am trying to read an ini file that has the following format: SETTING=VALUE SETTING2=VALUE2 I currently have the following code: string cache = sr.ReadToEnd(); string[] splitCache = cache.Split(new string[] {"\n", "\r\n"}, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries); Which gives me a list of settings, however, what I would like to do is read this into a dictionary. My question is, is there a way to do this without iterating through the entire array and manually populating the dictionary?

  • jquery drag and drop animation

    - by Cameron
I have some UI functionality for drag and drop, but when an element is dropped, the animation makes it flit about all over the place for a split second before it appears in the newly dropped location. Can anyone advise how to tackle this, so that the draggable element moves more cleanly into place on success? ... success : function() { $(ui.draggable) .parent().droppable("option", "disabled", false) .end() .appendTo(droppable) .droppable("option", "disabled", true); }, ...

  • Extend Javascript Date Object

    - by jAndy
Hi Folks, I'm curious what would be the best practice to extend the Date constructor. The problem I'm facing is, that the Internet Explorer (< 7+8) can't parse a date like new Date('2010-05-11'); I have to admit that this is not a standard method to parse, anyways FireFox and Chrome perform well on that kind of date string. Now I'm wondering, should I just split/parse/rebuild the string before calling new Date() or is there a more elegant solution ?

  • C++ Headers/Source Files

    - by incrediman
(Duplicate of C++ Code in Header Files) What is the standard way to split up C++ classes between header and source files? Am I supposed to put everything in the header file? Or should I declare the classes in the header file and define them in a .cpp file (source file)? Sorry if I'm shaky on the terminology here (declare, define, etc). So what's the standard?

  • SSIS Null Value Questions

    - by Saobi
I have a table with 5 string columns, all can be NULLs. After I read the data from this table, I want to convert any null values into empty strings. The reason is that I need to compare these columns with columns in another table of the same schema (using conditional split), and null values would cause the comparison to evaluate to NULL. Is there any functionality in SSIS that allows me to convert NULL's to empty strings, or just not having to deal with NULL's at all?

  • XSLT for-each loop for element collection

    - by brain_pusher
Is it possible to make a for-each loop in XSLT not for a node set, but for my own collection of elements? For example, I split some string and have a string collection as a result. And I need to create a node for each item in the collection. I know that issue can be solved with a recursive template, but I want to know if it is possible to avoid a recursion.

  • VSS Deprecated Files

    - by timothyawiseman
We are using VSS for version control (changing to another version control system is not an option right now), and are occassionally running into issues where a file has been completely deprecated with its functionality split into other new files. For historical archival reasons we need to keep those files in the version control sytem. Is there some way to clearly mark them as deprecated and no longer used?

  • How do I get changes to propagate to all subrepos in Mercurial?

    - by CoreyD
I have recently switched from Subversion to Mercurial for source control and in doing so have split up one repository into several. I used subrepos to manage the dependencies between repositories. The problem is that pull is not suprepo aware so I have to go into each subrepo and pull changes in order to update a repository. Is there a better way to do this?
