  • Asp.Net MVC style routing in Django

    - by Andrew Hanson
I've been programming in Asp.Net MVC for quite some time now and to expand a little bit beyond the .Net world I've recently began learning Python and Django. I am enjoying Django but one thing I am missing from Asp.Net MVC is the automatic routing from my urls to my controller actions. In Asp.Net MVC I can build much of my application using this single default route: routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } // Parameter defaults ); In Django I've found myself adding an entry to urls.py for each view that I want to expose which leads to a lot more url patterns than I've become used to in Asp.Net MVC. Is there a way to create a single url pattern in Django that will handle "[Application]/view/[params]" in a way similar to Asp.Net MVC? Perhaps at the main web site level?

  • url template tag in django template

    - by user192048
guys: I was trying to use the url template tag in django, but no lucky, I defined my urls.py like this urlpatterns = patterns('', url(r'^analyse/$', views.home, name="home"), url(r'^analyse/index.html', views.index, name="index"), url(r'^analyse/setup.html', views.setup, name="setup"), url(r'^analyse/show.html', views.show, name="show"), url(r'^analyse/generate.html', views.generate, name="generate"), I defined the url pattern in my view like this {% url 'show'%} then I got this error message Caught an exception while rendering: Reverse for ''show'' with arguments '()' and keyword arguments '{}' not found. Original Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/django/template/debug.py", line 71, in render_node result = node.render(context) File "/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/django/template/defaulttags.py", line 155, in render nodelist.append(node.render(context)) File "/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/django/template/defaulttags.py", line 382, in render raise e NoReverseMatch: Reverse for ''show'' with arguments '()' and keyword arguments '{}' not found. I am wondering why django failed to render? what is the right way to define it in the tempalte?

  • Getting the source .rst file path in Sphinx extension

    - by Mikko Ohtamaa
I am writing a Sphinx extension and I need to know the document page source code file system path (.rst file location) to extract some version control system information of it. How can I get this information in my event handler / which event handler I should use? Example: # This package may contain traces of nuts def on_html_page_context(app, pagename, templatename, context, doctree): import ipdb ; ipdb.set_trace() if doctree: print doctree.source def setup(app): app.require_sphinx('1.0') app.connect('html-page-context', on_html_page_context)

  • Help with a pseudo-class, first-child

    - by zac
I am working on a CMS platform with limited access to the template files and want to try and control some of the layout with pseudo class but no luck yet. Can anyone see what is wrong with this structure and why my pseudo class is being ignored? <div id="main"> <div class="someRandomDiv"></div> <div class="block"> stuff </div> <div class="block"> more stuff </div> </div> and i am trying something like this #main .block {border: 1px solid blue} #main .block:first-child {border: 1px solid red} so with this example I would think the stuff block would have a red border and more stuff would have a blue but it is all just blue. Thanks for any help with this.

  • What is the maximum sandbox size on iPad?

    - by John Alexander
I'm writing an iPad app that acts as a media player (video and photos). I know there is a 2GB size limit on apps, however is this the size limit on an app when downloaded? Or the limit on the size of your sandbox throughout the life of the app? For example what if my small app later on downloads various media files to its sandbox that put the user over 2GB total (app + downloaded media)? Thanks!

  • Getting started with modern software architecture and design using a book

    - by bitbonk
I am a rather oldschool developer with some basic knowledge of software design principles and a good background on classic (gof) design patterns. While I continue my life as such I see lots of strange buzzwords emerge: Aspectoriented Design, Componentoriented Design, Domain Driven Design, Domain Specific Languages, Serviceoriented (SOA) Design, Test Driven Design, Extreme Programming, Agile Development, Continuous Integration, Dependency Injection, Software Factories ... Is there good book around that I can take with me on a roadtrip while it is taking me on a trip through all (most) of the above, delivering an 10,000 foot view on modern software archiceture and desing principles and approaches.

  • Is it possible to attach a debugging session to a running program in eclipse CDT

    - by stu
I'm writing a netscape iplanet plugin (on solaris/C using eclipse) which is basically a shared object with specific entry points, and I'd like to be able to debug the shared object with eclipse's debugger (gdb). I remember doing something similar in AIX where you could make xldb attach to a running process. Is it possible to get eclipse to run gdb to attach to a running binary? And should I expect grief because I want to debug a dynamically loaded piece of code?

  • Accessing the MSP and PSP registers of the Cortex-M3 in C/C++ code using Keil's µVision

    - by Captain NedD
I need to access the MSP and PSP registers (the main and process stack registers) of the Cortex-M3 processor. I'm writing in C/C++. The µVision and associated compiler doesn't let you do inline assembly for this Thumb-2 only core (and I'm not sure that'd be such a good idea anyway). I need to do this so that I can extract the immediate value of an svc instruction regardless of whether it was executed while in thread or handler mode. Thanks,

  • XPath and special characters

    - by Bryan
I am having an issue with an XPath query I'm performing for a Sitecore CMS system. This query works fine: /root/content/Meta-Data/Tips/* But when I try this: /root/content/Meta-Data/Tips/*[@SomeAttribute='somekey'] I get an error which says "End of string expected at position 22" which is where the dash character is found. I was under the impression that the dash was not a special character in XML... am I doing something wrong here? Do I need to encode this in some way? Or is this a bug in the XPath parser? Any suggested workarounds?

  • Java Date vs Calendar

    - by Marty Pitt
Could someone please advise the current "best practice" around Date and Calendar types. When writing new code, is it best to always favour Calendar over Date, or are there circumstances where Date is the more appropriate datatype?
