• Javascript Rookie Question: Define Variables Inline

  I'm proficient with HTML and CSS but I'm still pretty shaky when it comes to Javascript. That said, I've been able to build a site using the Internet Archive Book Reader, which relies on reader.js Here's a copy of one of my versions of reader.js https://gist.github.com/dylan-k/ed4efed2384e221d46cc It's a good site, but I find I have to repeat things a lot. Basically, I have one copy of reader.js for every page/book featured on the site. It seems there must be a better way. I re-use the script, making copies, just so that I can change lines 28, 80, 83, 84. Is there a way I could include just one copy of reader.js and then use a <script> tag to define these 4 lines for the individual pages?

• Making file in user's homedir accessible from web/webserver

  Hi everybody, I have a txt-file one of my user's homedir which is regularly updated there by a script. I now want to be able to access (read) this file from the web. /home/user/folder/file.txt So what I tried now is to log in as root, go into my webservers httpdocs folder /var/www/path/to/domain/httpdocs and there I tried to create a symbolic link with ln -s /home/user/foler/file.txt /var/www/path/to/domain/httpdocs/file.txt But this didn't work... I already tried changing the chmod of the symlink (which changes the ones from the original file of course) and also a chown to the user from webserver, but no matter what I tried I cannot open the file from the web or from a php-script (which is what I want to do) Can anybody help me and tell me what I need to do? What rights do I need to give? Or is there another way of achieving this?

• Having trouble compiling UnrealScript with defaultproperties

  Have just started scripting in Unreal Script and am following the instructions of the opening chapter of a book on the subject. I have set the development tools up as described in the book such that it is now possible to compile the scripts for UDK before adding them to a level. My issue is: the very first script the book asks you to compile is the following: class AwesomeActor extends Actor placeable; defaultproperties { Begin Object Class=SpriteComponent Name = Sprite Sprite = Texture2D'EditorResources.S_NavP' End Object Components.Add(Sprite) } And when I hit F9 in the compiler I get the following error message: Error, BEGIN OBJECT: Must specify valid name for suboject/copmponent: Begin Object class=SpriteComponent name = Sprite My question: As far as I'm aware I've copied the code from the book veribatim including capital and smaller case letters but I'm getting this error and I was wondering if anyone knew why and if so how I would fix it?

• Setting up Ubuntu Server as a Router with DHCPD and 3 Ethernet devices

  My configuration: Ubuntu 12.04 DHCP3-server eth0, eth1, eth2 Edit: removed br0&br1 eth0 is the external connection eth1 & eth2 are the internal network eth1 and eth2 are supposed to be seperate networks of student/teachers respectivly. What I would like to have is the internet from external device bridged to device 1 and 2, with the DHCP server controlling the two internal devices. Its already working with DHCP, the part I am stuck on is bridging for internet.   I'm trying to install Dans Guardian on a virtual machine. The instructions ask me to run the ./configure script and then execute the command make install. The configure script runs fine but the make install throws errors. • [ADF tip #1] Working around some clientListener limitation

  As i occasionally work on Oracle ADF, i've decided to write tips on this Framework. Previous version of adf (10g) had a <afh:body> component to represent the body of your page which allowed to specify javascript events like onload or onunload. In ADF RC, the body (as well as html and head) is geneated by a single <af:document>. To implement the onXXXXX events you embed an <af:clientListener> within this <af:document> and specify property type="load" with the method to trigger.   Problem is that onunload property is not supported by th af:clientListener. So how do i do ? Well, a solution is to add this event during page load.   First step : Embed in your <af:document> the following : <af:clientListener type="load" method="addOnUnload()"/>   Second step : Add your unload event using this kind of script : <af:document>     <f:facet name="metaContainer">     <f:verbatim>     <script type="text/javascript">                 function addOnUnload(evt) {                       window.onunload=function()                               {                                   alert('Goodbye Word');                              }                    }     </script>     </f:verbatim>   When closing browser your event will be triggered as expected.

  While trying to install Nagios 3.2.3, I ran their ./configure script and got these errors: checking for main in -liconv... no checking for gdImagePng in -lgd (order 1)... no checking for gdImagePng in -lgd (order 2)... no checking for gdImagePng in -lgd (order 3)... no checking for gdImagePng in -lgd (order 4)... no *** GD, PNG, and/or JPEG libraries could not be located... ********* Boutell's GD library is required to compile the statusmap, trends and histogram CGIs. Get it from http://www.boutell.com/gd/, compile it, and use the --with-gd-lib and --with-gd-inc arguments to specify the locations of the GD library and include files. NOTE: In addition to the gd-devel library, you'll also need to make sure you have the png-devel and jpeg-devel libraries installed on your system. NOTE: After you install the necessary libraries on your system: 1. Make sure /etc/ld.so.conf has an entry for the directory in which the GD, PNG, and JPEG libraries are installed. 2. Run 'ldconfig' to update the run-time linker options. 3. Run 'make clean' in the Nagios distribution to clean out any old references to your previous compile. 4. Rerun the configure script. NOTE: If you can't get the configure script to recognize the GD libs on your system, get over it and move on to other things.   A couple of months ago I’ve written a simple demo about “Highlighting GridView Row on MouseOver”. I’ve noticed many members in the forums (http://forums.asp.net) are asking how to highlight row in GridView and retain the selected row across postbacks. So I’ve decided to write this post to demonstrate how to implement it as reference to others who might need it. In this demo I going to use a combination of plain JavaScript and jQuery to do the client-side manipulation. I presumed that you already know how to bind the grid with data because I will not include the codes for populating the GridView here. For binding the gridview you can refer this post: Binding GridView with Data the ADO.Net way or this one: GridView Custom Paging with LINQ. I had some dynamically added DOM elements and re-applying bindings worked before. It always seemed like a workaround/hack, but now Knockout is telling me that I shouldn’t do it. The quick way to fix this is to use ko.cleanNode($(‘#id’) and this works. A different/possibly better way, as suggested by x0n might be to use templates and Knockout’s template binding (<script type=’text/html’>…</script>).   Thanks again to the StackOverflow community for quickly providing me with the solution.   Hello I've recently upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10 64bit. I'm running AMD graphics with the proprietary drivers. I have two user accounts. Mine(administrator) and my girlfriend's(standard) My girlfriend clicks "switch user" from my lock screen and logs in fine. I then try to click "switch user" from her lock screen and everything goes black. Then the monitor blinks on and off with just a single cursor. I have no way to access the terminal, the system is unresponsive and I have to hit the power button. Even ctrl + alt + f4 or ctrl + alt + t doesn't get me a terminal. When I press the power button on my system, it does start printing out the shutdown sequence on the monitor. Here is my .xsession-errors Script for ibus started at run_im. • How can I install a specific older version of Firefox and keep it from automatically updating?

  I wrote a bash script to configure a suite of tools for continuous integration on top of Ubuntu 10.04.2. The script recently stopped working and I tracked the problem down to the newer version of Firefox that was just released. The image of Ubuntu that I'm starting with already has Firefox installed, but I need a version in between what it comes with and the latest. Here's the code I was using: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable sudo apt-get update echo "y" | sudo apt-get install firefox How can I instead install Firefox 7.0.1 and keep it from automatically upgrading to the latest version? If I can, I'd like to avoid installing Firefox manually, so I can more easily use apt-get later, once the issue I'm running into gets resolved.

• Can't save data for a member in a data form

  Implied sharing is an old thing everyone knows the reasons and solutions of that, still little theory about that: With Essbase implied sharing, some members are shared even if you do not explicitly set them as shared. These members are implied shared members. When an implied share relationship is created, each implied member assumes the other member’s value. Essbase assumes (or implies) a shared member relationship in these situations: 1. A parent has only one child 2. A parent has only one child that consolidates to the parent In a Planning form that contains members with an implied sharing relationship, when a value is added for the parent, the child assumes the same value after the form is saved. Likewise, if a value is added for the child, the parent usually assumes the same value after a form is saved.For example, when a calculation script or load rule populates an implied share member, the other implied share member assumes the value of the member populated by the calculation script or load rule. The last value calculated or imported takes precedence. The result is the same whether you refer to the parent or the child as a variable in a calculation script. A dynamic calc parent to a single child:  If we design the form with following selection: In the data form we will find parent below the member and this is by design whenever you make a selection using commands to select all the member below parent, always children will appear before the parent: Lets try to enter data, Save it Now, try to change the way we selected members Here we go: Now the question again why this behavior: 1. Data from Planning data form passes to Essbase row by row, 2. Because in data form the child member appears before the parent, 3. First, data goes to Essbase for child (SingleStoreChild), 4. Then when Planning passes the data for parent there was #Missing or No data,  5. Over writes the data to #missing. PS: As we know that dynamic calc members are calculated on the fly they are not allocated with any memory in the Essbase, here the parent was dynamic calc and it was pointing to same memory as child in the background, when Planning was passing data to Essbase for second row it has updated the child with missing data.(Little confusing, let me know if you need more explanation) 6. • Best tool to recover removed files

  Using Ubuntu 10.10, I have a startup script that automatically removes my 'working directory'. This is a simple folder on my Desktop where I place a bunch of files that I use throughout the day. These are temporary files I need to store just for that one session. In order to keep things clean, my startup script does: rm -rf /home/user/Desktop/workdir mkdir /home/user/Desktop/workdir Works great. Till the moment I had some important files there and forgot to move them before shutting down. A few (2-3) sessions ago this happened and I now realize I need to recover the "workdir" directory. But several new ones have been created and removed in the meantime. What is the best way to recover this - if possible? I read about tools like scalpel but it seems they will scan my whole HD. I know the name of the folder and would like to just look for this workdir folder. What is best?

• Is this DFP error message the reason my ad won't show?

  I'm setting up DFP to display ads and I have an ad tag (Javascript) from adtechus.com. The tag looks like this: <script src="http://adserver.adtechus.com/?adrawdata/1.0/1111/11111/0/0/ADTECH;loc=100;noperf=1;"></script> When I paste that tag into DFP, I get an error message saying it does't recognize the tag format: ...and, more importantly, my ad isn't showing on the page. DFP seems to be taking my adtechus ad tag regardless and working with it, despite the error message. But could that be the reason my ad isn't showing? And how can I fix it?
