  • Populate table with JQuery

    - by Talkar
    I need to populate some data into a table. The data i have is something i get in response from my ASP.NET MVC site, when i make a json post call there. Yet i can't seem to find a way to actually display the data i get back in response. Here is my code so far. Any help would be much appreciated: $(document).ready(function () { var uName = '<%= Session["UserName"].ToString()%>'; var pWord = '<%= Session["Password"].ToString()%>'; var data = { UserName:uName,Password:pWord}; $.ajax( { type: 'POST', url: "http://someurl.goes.here/", crossDomain: true, data: data, dataType: 'jsonp', success: function(myData) { $.each(myData, function (index, element) { $("#ClassTable").append('<tr><td> ' + element[0] + ' </td> <td> ' + element[1] + '</td></tr>'); }) } }); }); myData looks like this: [Object { IsActive = True, ObjectId=1, ObjectString="someString", etc... etc... } ]

  • jQuery Sortable + Droppable z-index problem

    - by unknowndomain
    I am having a probelm with the z-index of my sortable object not being above my droppable. If you visit http://clareshilland.unknowndomain.co.uk/. Press Ctrl + L to bring up the login screen. Enter the username clare and the password shilland. It will then load in the admin bar and if you click manage gallery. A pop down thumbnail view will appear with all the photos from that gallery. The issue is that when you drag the 'polaroids' from the grid to the delete area they are under the delete area. I tried putting the delete area inside the same div as the grid but it makes no difference, I just don't know what to do at this point so any help would be a massive help!

  • jQuery click(): overriding previously-bound click events

    - by JamesBrownIsDead
    When I use this code with an element whose id is "foobar": $("#foobar").click(function () { alert("first"); }); $("#foobar").click(function () { alert("second"); }); I get two alerts: "first" and "second" second. How do I specify a click event that also clears out any previous click events attached to the element? I want the last $("#foobar").click(...) to erase any previously bound events.

  • vertical navigation that shows hidden submenu on click using JQuery

    - by user346602
    Hi, I am trying to make a menu that works like the one on this flash site: http://elevensix.de/ When I click "portfolio", only then to the subnavigation links reveal themselves. Right now I have only managed to get a typical vertical "reveal subnavigation on hover menu" working. What is required is that once the appropriate menu item it cicked, its submenu shows. This submenu remains revealed as the submenu items are hovered over then selected. When the submenu item is selected, the content shows, and both the menu and submenu remain visible (the selected menu and submenu item are given a distinct colour to show the navigation path). Whew. Here is my html: <div id="nav"> <ul> <li><a href="#">about</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonials</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">testimonial1</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial2</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial3</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial4</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Services</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">services1</a></li> <li><a href="#">services2</a></li> <li><a href="#">services3</a></li> <li><a href="#">services4</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Gallery</a></li> <li><a href="#">Contact</a></li> </ul> </div><!--end #nav--> and here is my css: #nav { width:160px; position: relative; top: 250px; left: 20px; } #nav ul { margin:0px; padding:0px; } #nav ul li { line-height:24px; list-style:none; } #nav a { text-decoration: none; color: #9d9fa2; } #nav ul li a:hover { position:relative; color: #00aeef; } #nav ul ul { display:none; position:absolute; left:160px; top:4px; } #nav ul li:hover ul { display:block; color: #00aeef; } #nav ul ul li { width:160px; float:left; display:inline; line-height:16px; } .selected { color: #00aeef !important; } Should I be giving the submenus a class so that I can hide then show them? And where would the class be applied? To the ul? could I use the same class for both submenus? Am I wrong in how I am applying the display:none values for this purpose? Many thanks to all the clever people on here.

  • $.(ajax) wrapper for Jquery - passing parameters to delegates

    - by gnomixa
    I use $.(ajax) function extensively in my app to call ASP.net web services. I would like to write a wrapper in order to centralize all the ajax calls. I found few simple solutions, but none address an issue of passing parameters to delegates, for example, if i have: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://localhost/TemplateWebService/TemplateWebService/Service.asmx/GetFoobar", data: jsonText, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(response) { var results = (typeof response.d) == 'string' ? eval('(' + response.d + ')') : response.d; OnSuccess(results, someOtherParam1, someOtherParam2); }, error: function(xhr, status, error) { OnError(); } }); The wrapper to this call would have to have the way to pass someOtherParam1, someOtherParam2 to the OnSuccess delegate...Aside from packing the variables into a generic array, I can't think of other solutions. How did you guys address this issue?

  • jQuery live keydown doesn't register until second keydown

    - by Simon
    Hi there, I'm trying to add a class (.active) to a text field once the user starts typing. I got it to work somewhat with the following code, but for some reason the .active class is not applied immediately when the user starts typing, it's only applied after a second letter has been typed. Any ideas? $(document).ready(function() { loginField = $('.field'); loginField.live('keydown', function(){ if ($(this).val()){ $(this).addClass('active'); } }); });

  • Removing all Matching Classes in jQuery

    - by Seth Duncan
    Hi I have an li element that will have something along the lines of this for a declaration <li class="module ui-helper-fix"> And I can dynamically change the color of the module by adding on classes (That are provided dynamically through DB calls) the end result being <li class="module ui-helper-fix module-green"> or <li class="module ui-helper-fix module-default"> Well I am fine with changing the color by adding on a new module-WHATEVER class but what I would like to do is remove any class that matches module-XXXX so it starts with a clean slate and then add on the class module-crimson. So how do I remove all classes that match module-xxx first ? Keeping in mind I don't want to remove the base module class. Thanks. -Seth

  • Example of tree.drop_mode with jQuery sortable anywhere

    - by fred
    Hello Everyone, I have a working tree of galleries next to a sortable list of image thumbnails. I've been vainly trying to set up the galleries tree so that users can add images to the galleries by dropping the sortable thumbnails on to the galleries tree. I've been told this requires drop_mode. All efforts to get it to work have failed and I can't really make heads or tails of the drop_mode documentation. I've sought out some working examples via Google of just such an application but have failed. Can anyone point me to a working example of either a draggable or sortable list that successfully drops on to a tree and passes along some parameters between the two? Thanks!

  • jQuery without domready

    - by Happy
    Searching for a way to add this code, after the <head> (or some <link stylesheet>) and before <body> is generated (created). $('body').append('<style type="text/css">\ // some // multiline // styles </style>'); There is no <body> without domready(), so its seems better to use head instead or something else. Append also can be replaced. Anybody knows how to do that? Thanks.

  • .delegate equivalent of an existing .live method in jQuery 1.4.2

    - by kim3er
    I have an event handler bound to the hover event using the .live method, which is below: $(".nav li").hover(function () { $(this).addClass("hover"); }, function () { $(this).removeClass("hover"); }); It is important to note, that I require both functions within the handler to ensure synchronisation. Is it possible to rewrite the function using .delegate, as the following does not work? $(".nav").delegate("li", "hover", function () { $(this).addClass("hover"); }, function () { $(this).removeClass("hover"); }); Rich

  • how to organize javascripts using rails and jquery

    - by VP
    Hi, i'm working in a big and rich rails web application using tons of javascript. I would like to know if anybody has a tip to organize the javascripts. Today i'm generating a new file named controller.js and adding it to my views using content_for. The problem is, some files are becoming big and sometimes, i need a function from one controller in another, so then in the end, i add a products.js to a details controller just to keep DRY. Is that solution good? Any other tip? I think the same pattern can be applied as well to css files?

  • jquery js how to avoid massive onmouseover onmouseout firing

    - by stephan
    i have a table with some columns. in each of them is a picture where i have a onmouseover onmouseout event on it, which show a message in a div and hide the msg. my problem is - after a user goes quick from left to right (and moving) over a lot o images. all mouseover/out events of the images where executed, which looks stupid... is it possible to rearrange the internal event stack to avoid this? so that he executes only the current (mostly the first event) - and than the last one, if it is not same type eg. if mouseover over first image is executed and mouse moving position stops over an image 3times next the first one. i can avoid all other events firing, because the mouse stopped over an image and the mouseover is like the one where i stopped with the mouse. how can i avoid this multiple event firing?!
