• .NET Application broken on one PC, unhandleable exception

  Hello people. I have a .NET 2.0 application with nothing fancy in it. It worked until yesterday on every PC I installed or copied it to, no matter if 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 or 3.5 SP1 was installed, no matter if it was Win2000, XP or even Win7 (in total 100+ machines). Yesterday I did my normal installation procedure and wanted to start it one time to check if everything is working...and it wasn't. The program crashed hard leaving me with the uninformative "Do you wanna report this error?" dialog. The problem is an exception in the Main(String[] args) routine of my application. I also found a bug report at Microsoft (Google Cache) about this bug (in another context, though). But as it seems, they won't even look at it. Every help is greatly appreciated! Edit: I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Prof.. Crash happens in Release- and Debug-Build on the client machine. Debugging the application directly on this machine is out of question I fear, 300+ Miles and they only have two computers to work with.

• END_TAG exception while calling WCF WebService from Android using KSOAP2?

  Hi, I am trying to call a WCF Web Service from Android using KSOAP2 library. But I am getting this END_TAG exception. I have followed this thread to call WCF Web Service but still no result. I am passing "urn:TestingWcf/GetNames" as SOAP_ACTION, does this causes problem in Android since the error occurs at the statement "aht.call(SOAP_ACTION, envelope)" where aht is AndroidHttpTransport class object.   I'm doing "Multidimensional Project" with MS SQL Server 2012 (Server Data Tools - Visual Studio 2010 Shell). I can't run (debug) it. If the data source's impersonation information is set to "use the service account", this error occures: Error 2 Internal error: The operation terminated unsuccessfully. 0 0 Error 3 OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: Login failed for user 'NT Service\MSSQLServerOLAPService'.; 28000. 0 0 Error 4 Errors in the high-level relational engine.   All, I have a main window that contains two custom objects (AnimatedCharacter). These objects are nothing but images. These images might contain transparent portions. One of these objects slightly overlaps the other object. There are definitely items (DependencyObjects of the type AnimatedCharacter) in the hitResultSub, but no matter what, the second hit test will not fire. I find it really difficult to follow what is going on in Python when things like this break. In the languages I mentioned previously it's fairly straightforward to figure things like this out -- check the method signature and check your parameters. Looking at the Django documentation for half an hour left me just as lost. Looking at the source for get_or_create(self, **kwargs) didn't help either since there is no method signature and the code appears very generic. A next step would be to debug the method and try to figure out what is happening, but this seems a bit extreme... I seem to be missing some fundamental operating principle here... what is it? How do I resolve issues like this on my own in the future?

• Running same powershell script multiple asynchronous times with separate runspace

  Hi, I have a powershell script which is called by a batch script which is called by Trap Receiver (which also passes environment variables) (running on windows 2008). The traps are flushed out at times in sets of 2-4 trap events, and the batch script will echo the trap details for each message to a logfile, but the powershell script on the next line of the batch script will only appear to process the first trap message (the powershell script writes to the same logfile). My interpetation is that the defaultrunspace is common to all iterations of the script running and this is why the others appear to be ignored. I've tried adding "-sta" when I invoke the powershell script using "powershell.exe -command", but this didn't help. I've researched and found a method using C# but I don't know this language, and busy enough learning powershell, so hoping to find a more direct solution especially as interleaving a "wrapper" between batch and powershell will involve passing the environment variables. http://www.codeproject.com/KB/threads/AsyncPowerShell.aspx I've hunted through stackoverflow, and again the only question of similar vein was using C#. Any suggestions welcome. Some script background: The powershell script is actually a modification of a great script found at gregorystrike website - cant post the link as I'm limited to one link but its the one for Lefthand arrays. Lots of mods so it can do multiple targets from one .ini file, taking in the environment variables, and options to run portions of the script interactively with winform. But you can see the gist of the original script. The batch script is pretty basic.   I'm working on a Django app in which I want to order prints through Shutterfly's Open API: http://www.shutterfly.com/documentation/start.sfly So far I've been able to build the appropriate POSTs and GETs using the modules and suggested code snippets including httplib, httplib2, urllib, urllib2, mimetype, etc. But I'm stuck on the image uploading when placing an order (the ordering process is not the same process as uploading images to albums which I haven't tried.) From what I can tell, I'm supposed to basically create the multipart form data by concatenating the HTTP request body together with the binary data of the image. • ASP.NET application developed in 32 bit environment not working in 64 bit environment

  We have developed an ASP.NET website on a Windows 7 - 32 bit platform using Visual Studio 2008. This website is being hosted at a hosting company where we share a server with hundreds of other ASP.NET websites. We are in the process of changing our hosting to a dedicated Windows 2008 - 64 bit server. We have installed Visual Studio on this new server in order to debug our application.   hey guys, i am having problems implementing my php/mysql code into a jgrowl if you are familiar with jgrowl you will know it delivers notifications like Growl does for OS X i am trying to get it read all the records from my table but at the moment it is only displaying one record as a notification and it loops through it 4 times another problem is that if i have 5 rows in the table then jgrowl will only display 4 notifications are going to be viewed how do i get it to view all the records in the table as notifications and how do i display the total number of records (5) as notifications and account for the missing one at the moment thanking you guys in advance... • ASP.NET 2.0 files work in one folder, but NOT in another

  I am about to leap of a building. I have created an app for a client and all the files are in a folder on their D drive. Now it is time to go production, so I copied all my files and folders to their excisting classic asp folder on the same drive. BUT NOTHING WORKS. The only difference I can see is that DEV does not require HTTPS like the production site. I also made sure all the permissions are the same on both folder. I made sure that the GAC has read rights using the aspnet_regiis tool. I am at the end of my debug knowlegde, could someone please help me out. • C++ Program Always Crashes While doing a std::string assign

  I have been trying to debug a crash in my application that crashes (i.e. asserts a * glibc detected free(): invalid pointer: 0x000000000070f0c0 **) while I'm trying to do a simple assign to a string. Note that I'm compiling on a linux system with gcc 4.2.4 with an optimization level set to -O2. With -O0 the application no longer crashes. E.g. std::string abc; abc = "testString"; but if I changed the code as follows it no longer crashes std::string abc("testString"); So again I scratched my head! But the interesting pattern was that the crash moved later on in the application, AGAIN at another string. I found it weird that the application was continuously crashing on a string assign. I even checked for ptr corruptions and came up empty handed. In addition to visual inspection of the code I also tried the following tools: Valgrind using both memcheck and exp-ptrcheck electric fence libsafe I compiled with -fstack-protector-all in gcc I tried MALLOC_CHECK_ set to 2 I ran my code through lint checks as well as cppcheck (to check for mistakes) And I stepped through the code using gdb So I tried a lot of stuff and still came up empty handed. So I was wondering if it could be something like a linker issue or a library issue of some sort that could be causing this problem. Are there any know issues with the std::string that make is susceptible to crashing in -O2 or maybe it has nothing to do with the optimization level? But the only pattern that I can see thus far in my problem is that it always seems to crash on a string and so I was wondering if anyone knew of any issues that my be causing this type of behavior.   I haven't been able to find any documentation on how to configure Hibernate's logging using the XML style configuration file for Log4j. Is this even possible or do I have use a properties style configuration file to control Hibernate's logging? If anyone has any information or links to documentation it would appreciated. EDIT: Just to clarify, I am looking for example of the actual XML syntax to control Hibernate. • Optimizing Haskell code

  I'm trying to learn Haskell and after an article in reddit about Markov text chains, I decided to implement Markov text generation first in Python and now in Haskell. However I noticed that my python implementation is way faster than the Haskell version, even Haskell is compiled to native code. I am wondering what I should do to make the Haskell code run faster and for now I believe it's so much slower because of using Data.Map instead of hashmaps, but I'm not sure I'll post the Python code and Haskell as well. With the same data, Python takes around 3 seconds and Haskell is closer to 16 seconds. For commands it works fine, they are enabling or disabling correctly. • Default Database Collations PenTesting Env

  I am using Ubuntu 9.10 with XAMPP ( Lampp "MYSQL 5.1.45 PHPMYADMIN 3.3.1 PHP 5.3.2 ) What my problem is, is that I set up my testing env to debug my scripts locally and when I did so there arose a problem. This problem is that I used firefox's addon SQLinject ME to test for weakness' and upon doing so it caused mysql to change the default local collations; character sets dir /opt/lampp/share/mysql/charsets/ collation connection latin1_general_ci (Global value) latin1_swedish_ci collation database latin1_swedish_ci collation server latin1_swedish_ci I have searched for quite sometime in regards to a solution to this problem and have come up with searching for the db.opt file which stores this information without success. Upon not finding a solution I removed lampp with the "sudo rm -fR /opt" command and reinstall and the problem still persists. I have tried to change the collations manually and still come up with the database displaying latin1_swedish_ci as the default language. Why is this a problem?? Why is it a problem with mysql? Because the application I am testing and debugging locally is built on the CodeIgnitor with Smarty framework and since this combination of framework is built to detect the LOCALES, Rather what the database defaults are I keep getting errors saying no language file for swedish...... Of course I could get the swedish language file to work around this problem but I do not feel the need to make this work around a perminant solution as with time when I move on to projects I will run into simular problems every time that A; When importing database files, backups etc it will default to import such databases as the locale swedish. B; As time passes on I might completly forget of this error and will be back to square one. I have found this code in searches for a fix,which seems to alter the tables to a desired Collaion; $value) { mysql_query("ALTER TABLE $value COLLATE latin1_general_ci"); }} echo "The collation of your database has been successfully changed!"; ? Which is handy to switch collations in One Schema at a time however this is not a fix when a framework doesnt care that the said database is in one langugae. It tests for the Default of the entire server. Someone with any knowledge of a purge or fix to this I would greatly appricate the help. One more final note is that when I was testing I only figured to back up the applications DataBase and not the entire Schema of the install. No matter if I uninstall or reinstall the database still seems to carry these problems.

  I'm prototyping an idea for a website that will use the HTML5 offline application cache for certain purposes. The website will be built with Python and Flask and that's where my main problem comes from: I'm working with those two for the first time, so I'm having a hard time getting the manifest file to work as expected. The issue is that I'm getting 404's from the static files included in the manifest file. The manifest itself seems to be downloaded correctly, but the files that it points to are not. The same error was returned every time. I'm certain the issue here is how the server is serving up the files listed in the manifest. Those files are probably being looked up in the wrong place, I guess. I either should place them somewhere else or I need something different in the cache manifest, but I have no idea what. I couldn't find anything online about having HTML5 offline applications with Flask. Is anyone able to help me out?

• Help with iphone dev - beyond bounds error

  I'm just learning iphone development, so please forgive me for what is probably a beginner error. I've searched around and haven't found anything specific to my problem, so hopefully it is an easy fix. The book has examples of building a table from data hard coded via an array. Unfortunately it never really tells you how to get data from a URL, so I've had to look that up and that is where my problems show up. When I debug in xcode, it seems like the count is correct, so I don't understand why it is going out of bounds? • Fread binary file dynamic size string [C]

  I've been working on this assignment, where I need to read in "records" and write them to a file, and then have the ability to read/find them later. On each run of the program, the user can decide to write a new record, or read an old record (either by Name or #) The file is binary, here is its definition: typedef struct{ char * name; char * address; short addressLength, nameLength; int phoneNumber; }employeeRecord; employeeRecord record; The way the program works, it will store the structure, then the name, then the address. Name and address are dynamically allocated, which is why it is necessary to read the structure first to find the size of the name and address, allocate memory for them, then read them into that memory. For debugging purposes I have two programs at the moment. I have my file writing program, and file reading. My actual problem is this, when I read a file I have written, i read in the structure, print out the phone # to make sure it works (which works fine), and then fread the name (now being able to use record.nameLength which reports the proper value too). Fread however, does not return a usable name, it returns blank. I see two problems, either I haven't written the name to the file correctly, or I haven't read it in correctly. Here is how i write to the file: where fp is the file pointer. record.name is a proper value, so is record.nameLength. Also i am writing the name including the null terminator. (e.g. 'Jack\0') fwrite(&record,sizeof record,1,fp); fwrite(record.name,sizeof(char),record.nameLength,fp); fwrite(record.address,sizeof(char),record.addressLength,fp); And i then close the file. here is how i read the file: fp = fopen("employeeRecord","r"); fread(&record,sizeof record,1,fp); printf("Number: %d\n",record.phoneNumber); char *nameString = malloc(sizeof(char)*record.nameLength); printf("\nName Length: %d",record.nameLength); fread(nameString,sizeof(char),record.nameLength,fp); printf("\nName: %s",nameString); Notice there is some debug stuff in there (name length and number, both of which are correct). So i know the file opened properly, and I can use the name length fine. Why then is my output blank, or a newline, or something like that? (The output is just Name: with nothing after it, and program finishes just fine) Thanks for the help.

  Hello. I've got a really difficult bug and I can't see the fix. The subject drives me insane for real for a long time. Let's consider the following scenario: 1) There is a PowerPoint 2003 presentation. It contains the only slide and the only shape, but the shape contains a text frame including a bulleted list with a random textual representation structure. 2) There is a requirement to get bullet indents for every bulletted paragraph using PowerPoint 2007.
