  • Categorize outgoing mail in outlook

    Is there a way to easily categorize an outgoing mail in outlook 2007? I can go to options tab and then click "further options" (translated) an then choose the category in the message options dialog. But is there a single click way to to that? I write a lot of mails and I want to categorize outgoing mails fast. Thank you!

  • Windows explorer locks files

    I'm using Office 2010 & Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. My problem starts when I attempt to save e-mail messages to my PC that I have received via Outlook (my ISP is Comcast). I'm using the default .msg file extension option when I attempt to save these e-mails. The resultant files are locked and do not show the normal "envelope" icon. Instead, it’s a “blank page” icon with the right upper corner folded in. These files refuse to open either by double clicking on them or right clicking and trying to open them with Outlook. And when I return to Outlook, I discover that Outlook is now hung up and I have to close it via the Task Manager. To make matters worse, I’ve also discovered that every e-mail message that I've saved on my PC over the years has also somehow become locked and their original "envelope" icon has been replaced with the "blank page" icon. I found and installed an application called LockHunter. As a result, when I right click on a saved and locked e-mail message, I’ve given an option to find out what's locking it. Each time I'm told that the culprit is Windows explorer.exe. When I unlock the file the normal envelope icon is sometimes displayed (but not always) but at least the file can then be opened. But the file is still “squirrely” as it can’t be moved or saved to a folder until it’s unlocked again. On this second attempt, LockHunter says it’s now locked by Outlook.exe. By the way, I don't have this issue when I save Word, Excel & PowerPoint files; only with Outlook. I've exhausted every remedy that I can think of including: making sure that the file and folder options are checked to always show icons and not thumbnails; running the Windows 7 & Office 2010 repair options which find nothing amiss; running a complete system scan with Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool with negative results; verifying that Outlook is the default for opening e-mails; updating all of my applications via Secunia Personal Software Inspector; uninstalling every application that I felt was unnecessary; doing a registry cleanup via CC Cleaner; having Windows Security Essentials always on (it did find one Java Trojan recently which was quarantined and then deleted); uninstalling a bunch of non-Microsoft shell extensions; and deactivating all of the Outlook Add-ins and then re-activating each one. None of this solves the problem. I’d welcome any advice on how to resolve this.

  • Can't install shared printer on Windows 7

    I have a shared printer on Windows XP desktop. When trying to install printer on a network laptop using Windows 7, I get a driver not found on network message. The printer OEM does not have a specific driver for Windows 7, they say to use the Windows 7 driver. I can install the printer as a local printer to the laptop. It does find the driver on the laptop, but I can't install it from the shared desktop.

  • Sending text messages from Raspberry Pi via email fails

    I'm using mailx on my raspberry pi to try to send text messages updates for event monitoring. My phone number: 9876543210 My phone's email-to-text gateway address: [email protected] I can 1) Send emails from my raspberry pi to various email addresses. mail -r [email protected] -s "My Subject" [email protected] < body.txt and off it goes and is successfully delivered. 2) Send emails from various email address (not on RPi) using mailx to the above phone-email address and have them delivered as text messages. However, when sending emails to [email protected] from the Raspberry Pi using mailx the emails seem to spiral into the void and are never heard of again (no errors, no undeliverable messages, nothing). Does anyone know what could be causing this to go awry? Something about the basic deployment of the mail server on the pi? EDIT Based on @kobaltz's suggestion, I used sendmail instead. This led to a hang, then an error that stated that I lacked a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). I then used this website's instructions to add a domain name to the RPi. To paraphrase: I have set the FQDN in /etc/hostname: my-host-name.my-domain.com and /etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 192.168.0.5 my-host-name.my-domain.com my-host-name Then add to /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: MASQUERADE_AS(`my-domain.com') MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(`my-host-name.my-domain.com') FEATURE(`masquerade_entire_domain') FEATURE(`masquerade_envelope') I put this in /etc/mail/sendmail.cf, BEFORE the MAILER() lines, ran sendmailconfig, answered Yes to the questions about using the existing files, and restarted sendmail.     In RFC 2822 (defining E-Mail) is defined, that no line SHOULD be longer than 78 chars (excluding CRLF) and MUST not longer than 998 characters. With quoted-printable longer lines will be broken into more lines, ending each with a '=' until the real linebreak is reached. Conforms a mail to the standard, if it contains lines longer than 78 (or 998) characters but is encoded with quoted-printable? There are arguments, that this isn't compliant, because the receiving mail-client has longer lines after decoding the quoted-printable message.

Currently have about 850 messages in the Inbox folder, and the preview pane turned off, thus I view messages by double-clicking.     I have downloaded the OpenDNS client and it was working great till today. Shows me this error: dynamic IP update failed with message !yours or "Your IP address is taken by another user." I am pretty sure i'll get away with the problem by just restarting my connection as i'll be assigned a new dynamic ip. But I wonder how this is happening in the first place. Shouldn't Dynamic IP be unique for everyone?

    I am trying to enforce maximum memory a program can consume on a Unix system. I thought ulimit -v should do the trick. Here is a sample Java program I have written for testing : import java.util.*; import java.io.*; public class EatMem { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException, InterruptedException { System.out.println("Starting up..."); System.out.println("Allocating 128 MB of Memory"); List<byte[]> list = new LinkedList<byte[]>(); list.add(new byte[134217728]); //128 MB System.out.println("Done...."); } } By default, my ulimit settings are (output of ulimit -a) : core file size (blocks, -c) 0 data seg size (kbytes, -d) unlimited scheduling priority (-e) 0 file size (blocks, -f) unlimited pending signals (-i) 31398 max locked memory (kbytes, -l) 64 max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited open files (-n) 1024 pipe size (512 bytes, -p) 8 POSIX message queues (bytes, -q) 819200 real-time priority (-r) 0 stack size (kbytes, -s) 8192 cpu time (seconds, -t) unlimited max user processes (-u) 31398 virtual memory (kbytes, -v) unlimited file locks (-x) unlimited When I execute my java program (java EatMem), it executes without any problems. Ideally it should not happen as my Java program is only taking around 128MB of memory which is well within my specified ulimit parameters. If I change the arguments to my Java program as below: java -Xmx256m EatMem The program again works fine. While trying to give more memory than limited by ulimit like : java -Xmx800m EatMem results in expected error. Why the program fails to execute in the first case after setting ulimit ? I have tried the above test on Ubuntu 11.10 and 12.0.4 with Java 1.6 and Java 7

  • long access times and errors in iis application

    I am having an issue with an IIS application (details of environment at the end of the message). The web site works great most of the time and I cannot reproduce any error in our test system. On the live system however with on averare of 5-15 requests per second I have a problem with that some requests (about 0.05%) will take over 300 seconds to complete. The other requests complete withing 5-10 seconds. It seem like if all the errornous requests end up with a Timer_EntityBody error in the error log. I have never seen this as an end user but I guess that they will receive some kind of error message. I am trying to find out what can be causing this errornous behaviour. Any ideas are welcome. I have read something about that there can be an MTU issue if ICMP and MTU protocols are blocked in the firewall. Does that sound reasonable? I have also read about updating to IIS 7 should do the trick. Does it sound reasonable? I think that the problem has another cause but I have no idea of what. I have tried running hte perormance monitor, monitoring for database locks and active transaction counts. I can see some of these in the perfmon log for the MSSQL server (another machine) for example: Active transactions is sometimes peaking and sometimes for long periods Lock waits per seconds is sometimes peaking Transactions per second is sometimes peaking Page IO Latch wait is sometimes peaking Lock wait time (ms) is sometimes peaking But I cannot see that any of these correlate to the errors in the IIS error log. On the IIS server machine I can also see with perfmon that some values peak a few times during a day: Request execution time Avg disk queue length I can neither see that any of these correlate to the errors in the IIS error log.
